in the middle of reading the new wind excerpt and god. oh my god. someone sedate me
#AGHHHHHH frostpaw. my baby :(#she spent a wholeeee book building up her courage to approach and accept what actually happened to her and her mother and her clan#she spent a whole book recovering and coming to terms with and understanding what she had to do#she spent a whole book preparing herself to save her clan and prove herself and it just Blows Up In Her Face within one gathering. crying#and the way splashtail just undermines her right in front of her clan?? telling them she must be psychotic or having a breakdown of somesor#that she must be confused and lost and hurt over her mother’s death and how they can’t trust what she says because of that#babying her in front of everyone right to her face. fucked up man#i mean she is Baby but i believe she is actually full grown by this point and is at the age where she would usually be made full medicineca#it’s just. god. everyone not trusting her. everyone throwing accusations at her. everyone not even giving her the time of day#so messed up!!! i’m going to go cry about it now bye#YES i’m getting emotional over a series meant for 6th graders leave me alone!! /hj#delete later#but like man. everyone in her clan rejected her. even her own family?? her siblings???? star preview spoilers//
i don't want frostpaw to become riverclan's leader. riverclan are a bunch of backstabbing cowards. not one of them deserves to be called a warrior, except mothwing and MAYBE icewing and duskfur. how are they going to face frostpaw after this book's inevitable happily ever after? they've betrayed and abandoned her in a way even worse than shadowsight, and shadowsight got treated pretty fuckin badly! reading about frostpaw fishing shadowclan cats, the only clan who believed and helped her when she was at her lowest, out of the water as her old clanmates laugh and push her around made me sick to my stomach. they're not even being manipulated they're fully in support of the guy who killed his deputy in front of everyone and pretty much admitted to attempted murder of a TEENAGE DOCTOR. they're sickening. like genuinely i don't think i've ever gotten so mad at battle kitties before. i need riverclan GONE by the end of a starless clan i can't think of a single way any of them can be redeemed and look frostpaw in the eye again. at least she's rightfully furious as well. hope she gets to murk some of them

Okay listen, who’s your LEAST favorite warrior cat? Give me the Ted Talk on why they’re the Worst please
a lot of the characters i dislike i dislike because they had a GREAT concept and it was executed BAD or in a way i didn't like. specifically, i'll highlight lionblaze. he's probably not my LEAST favourite of all time but he's one i very much dislike I believe more could have been done with his power & the fact he trained in the dark forest. that is the sole reason i dislike him. is because so little was done with that. What I would've liked is seeing his time in the dark forest change him as a person and thru tigerclaw & hawkfrost's will have him kill more people both in the dark forest (he only killed shredtail) and outside of the dark forest (he only killed russetfur and harestar). He would have had to sit with these deaths and understand that his ability is both a blessing and a curse. He may be destined to fight during the great battle using his ability to prevent the fall of the clans but what point would it make it so many innocent need to die from him in the process? he should shut himself off cast himself away and become a shell of who he was. He would've had to sit with the fact that the sole purpose of his existence as one of the three was to hurt others. that is his power. to physically harm others and to mentally scar the ones who lives and the family & friends of those he has killed.
That is why starclan chose for lion's roar to be reborn. this is why he could not have spent his days as the person he used to be. He has killed people and that is what he has to live with. But at the same time, his views on the world changed during his time in the dark forest. There is life after death. What point is there in fearing death if you know there is something afterwards? When there is life after death, death is an escape. Similarly, his knowledge of starclan has changed his views. How could the cats he's killed hold a grudge to him if starclan is so wonderful? so grand, so powerful. you can see those who you know who've passed on and learn the stories of those long forgotten. In his world, death is new life. When you die and join the ranks of starclan, you are just a measly speck of thousands of warriors who've come and gone. Death is an opportunity to live a new life. So what do those who he has killed have to fear? have to be mad at him for? they may lose those who are still alive, but they will join them eventually. but, there are no answers to these questions. they are subjective, grand and have no definitive answer. the answers he decides on will be entirely different than the people's around hims. and this is what he is going to have to live with. his life is rhetorical. His powers had meaning, but after the great battle he loses that. so who is he? well, he is cat who is loud and brash. quick to make an a opinion and unafraid to speak his opinion on another person. he is a cog in the machine of clan life, hunting, sleeping, mating, mentoring, it's the same every day now. someone else is chosen for prophecy. the purpose for his existence is gone now. he's just someone who exists. someone who does things, but doesn't exactly understand why. he yells at others and scowls at them, he sits on the sidelines watching cats like bristlefrost, rootspring, shadowsight, twigbranch, violetshine, and frostpaw as their lives move on. they are similar to him, not exact, in a way that starclan is watching them more than they are watching the rest of the clans. he wants that attention, he wants that feeling again. he is jealous of them. he goes about his days after the great battle as someone who has been scarred from his time alive. he is rude and loud, menacing, his physical scars a remnant of the person he used to be- the person who was destined for greatness. the scars he has now are twisted, a scourge on his skin as they show the person he has become as he has lost purpose. he has thousands of questions, and hundreds of thousands of subjective answers. no one is there to answer them. the life he has lived is one he will have to life with until he dies. that is the cat i wished for lionblaze to be. while he has his powers, he doesn't understand the morality around why he has them and how they shape him as a person, but after he loses them he doesn't how to continue living without a purpose. he knows nothing of the world and nothing of himself, but he KNOWS that, and he sits with that. these concepts, these ideas, the answers to his questions he has come up with sit inside him and fester, showing themselves to the world every time he yells at one of his friends and hurts someone during battle. he is an angry man. he is an angry man who hurts other people not out of malice but out of yearning for meaning. that is what i want out of lionblaze's character. but, that's not what they did with him, and that's why i dislike him.

I swear the MOMENT I heard “Berryheart’s wounds aren’t deep” in that preview I knew it was a trap. Jesus CHRIST that was shocking. The fact any cats made it out of the slaughter is a shock. My only worry is where the FUCK is Puddleshine and co? Did they see the fighting or hear it and turn back? Because if they didn’t they are still on their way to Riverclan which is REALLY BAD. Imagine if Splashtail takes a medicine cat of Shadowclan hostage. Even if they still have Shadowsight and Frostpaw that’s still a Shadowclan cat in the hands of a murderer, a traitor, and a fake Medic.
As soon as she was all like “Splashtail has been driven out I want to do what is best for my clan” I was just like “No guys do not believe that bitch this is going to be a trap.”
I love Berryheart so much, she’s just the worst.
The ambush scene was so good. It makes me wonder can RiverClan recover from this? How is Frostpaw ever supposed to face those snakes again? I know it’s Splashtail’s orders but at least some of them were enjoying this.
It’s only thanks to Frostpaw there were no casualties. I fully expect Puddleshine to be a prisoner now. And I feel like Splashtail may be launching an attack on ShadowClan camp while their leader is away.

Its been only a little over 1 WEEK since we got the design and basic info for Moonpaw, and yet I've already seen 3 whole waves of controversy spring up:
-"Moonpaw is not a real chimera"
-"Please don't, or at least be very mindful if you do make DID headcanon/theories about Moonpaw
-"Please stop making ablest jokes about Moonpaw being an incest kit"
Moonpaw has been the catalyst for the most hyper accelerated Warrior Cats drama cycle I've seen. AND HER BOOK ISN'T EVEN COMING OUT FOR ANOTHER 6 MONTHS!?
I can remember back to when A Starless Clan was first being teased and we got the blurb for River, and the conversation at the time could be summed up as:
Firepaw: "Oh boy another Firestar decedent🙄"
Sunbeam: "..." (The teaser material was super vague on her so we didn't have much to go off)
Frostpaw: "YAY RIVERCLAN POV! She's probably gonna just be Shadowsight 2... BUT YAY RIVERCLAN POV"
Moonpaw, all by herself and in a single week, has driven the community more mad than all of the ASC teasing until River's preview dropped.

anyone thinking about the fact that almost every female medicine cat since yellowfang (spottedleaf, cinderpelt, leafpool, frostpaw) has had a love interest or at least crush while every male medicine cat interest has either had a one off romance (halfjay, aldervelvet) or none at all (shadowsight, all non-protagonist medicine cat toms)

man..... im always sad when a new series starts and we lose sight of the previous protagonists. i really liked rootspring and shadowsight, even twigbranch! but now twigbranch barely gets a line or two in a book and rootspring is completely unheard of. at least shadowsight gives some input here and there as a good friend to frostpaw....... and i miss tree!! i love tree!!

Shadowsight x Frostpaw when?
Chances are they won’t interact much but I really hope that I’m proven wrong when Wind comes out. I think at the very least Shadow would be a great freind for Frost seeing as he was also a medicine cat widley hated for not doing his job ‘right’, and also was almost killed for it.

quick new warriors arc thoughts
can be entirely summed up with: Didn't we already do all this?
Spoilers for literally all of the books below up to this point I have problems
We've had the "oh noooo! We can't contact StarClan anymore help!" drama for THE PAST TWO ARCS NOW (the broken code and a starless clan). That will be TWELVE BOOKS. I appreciate that we're seeing the moral dilemmas here, these kitties seriously need to learn to think for themselves sometimes, but this is getting very boring. It's the same dilemma three times over.
TWOLEGS AGAIN??
I think it's an interesting concept to explore, of what would happen if the Moonpool is destroyed. I'm tired of StarClan crisis plots but at the very least this is a new one. But twolegs? Once more, haven't we already done this? Firstly, twoleg destruction was already the entire problem with the early books of The New Prophecy. We've already seen this. Secondly, SkyClan being in danger has been seen ALREADY as that's what drove them out the first time!
I don't actually have any qualms with this I love Tawnypelt. My girl needs some time to shine I'm happy for her. However I am very scared because last time an elder was important early on (Sandstorm with Alderheart) said elder DIEDED. Also worried about mischaracterization a bit but ehhh
Okay so Shadowsight again. And kinda Frostpaw again. Nothing stands out here yet so just need to wait and see until more is revealed about Moonpaw. Girl please be interesting
Though I did complain about repetitive plots I WILL say there seems to be a way to make this arc good in my opinion. The Erins said this arc includes the "importance of an old friend" or something like that. They seem to be bringing back older characters and points (I.e. Tawnyprlt the beloved.) so there's a chance the repetition is intentional and will be important. Already we see multiple things connected to past arcs and books
SkyClan being threatened in the same way they were when driven from the forest territories. I believe this could serve as an important point to hammer in the idea we've seen the past few arcs where the cats are torn between tradition and reality. They fought so hard for SkyClan to stay only for this to happen AGAIN. Is it a sign they should leave for good? <- Because there's always those random background cats making horrible decisions in the cat political sphere.
Changing Skies as the arc title may also indicate SkyClan being important. Or it could talk about changes to StarClan. Or maybe a drawback to Clear Sky?
The book being titled The Elder's Quest also hints on a possible tradition theme. Tawnypelt being included is interesting, so I wonder if she'll be the "back in my day" old woman or the "I like the youngin's" old woman
#Fambles#warrior cats#warriors#changing skies#warriors changing skies#the elder's quest#warriors the elder's quest#i did not just spend twenty minutes losing my mind to catbooks. This is what exams do to a brain man

With Thunder released, I think it is almost time to finalize some plans for WCR!A Starless Clan.
Needless to say, MASSIVE spoilers for A Starless Clan, especially book 4, Thunder.
Under the cut are some IDEAS. NOTHING HERR IS FINAL YET AND ALL IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Behold, my chaotic note-taking in its raw, unfiltered form.
So. First concept: All leaders are at one point either deposed or killed.
Mistystar dies the same awkward way, but with more emotion this time. She is the leader most of Riverclan has known either all their lives, or most of their lives. However, and I cannot emphasize this enough, Mistystar had dementia. She was holding on by threads before she dropped dead.
Leafstar dies suddenly as well due to a massive heart attack, falling off of Highbranch and breaking her neck. The problem here is, ex-deputy Waspwhisker JUST SHOWED UP. This leads to the release of Waspwhisker's Adventure, where he and the other kidnapped Skyclan cats come home.
'so what'd I miss?'.mp3 moment
Tigerheartstar is dethroned. Berryheart's group is too powerful, and Puddleshine does agree. At least, with staying out of Riverclan. Shadowclan just had a major Greencough epidemic and Birchkit is dead due to it, they needed his support. Shadowsight is also missing.
Cloverfoot, however, picks Berryheart as deputy (Berryheart will have also had an apprentice by this point) and goes off to the Moonpool, only for a larger than normal gray fox to kill her. It leaves Berryheart alone, and, much to Sunbeam's horror, allows her to go to the Moonpool.
Splashtail also races up behind her, and the 2 earn their names.
Enter Splashstar and Berrystar. Frostpaw was too late.
Frostpaw also now time travels with Nightheart, Shadowsight, and Whistlepaw. Nightheart is an idiot who never studied history (though he did study Camp Keeping and Glyphs), but the other 3 (especially Whistlepaw) know to take on differently styled names, referencing heroes they heard of in stories.
Shadow Eyes, Whistle, Frosty Paws, and... The other guy who inspired Night Heart, first deputy of Riverclan.
"Stop laughing at me I PREFERRED LEARNING GLYPHS"
Harestar passes after a long, brutal battle with Blackcough. His Deputy, Breezepelt, is about to go to the Moonpool with his new Deputy Heathertail and Kestralflight, when the dog pack attacks AGAIN. I'm not sure if it kills Breezepelt, but it sure as hell leaves him out of commission. He will, tragically, not become leader. In wake of the events, Heathertail turns to the one cat she has always been able to vent to. Lionblaze. Not as a lover, just friends.
Since Squilf steps down in Squirrelflight's Freedom, she... also won't become leader. I love her so much, but her not becoming leader means Leafpool lives longer, and she actually gets the rest she deserves with her sister and new husband Shrewfeather. Hey, at least she gets to keep being Squilf. I love Squirrelstar but I don't like that name very much, doesn't feel right. I want some canon cats to get caught up on it too because Squirrelflight is such a good name, and she's good humored enough I don't think it would bother her. ANYWAY
Hollyleaf is deputy, and Bramblestar does not want to give up his position, he isn't happy that his Clan now fears him, and that makes him lash out because he 'always knew they were suspicious of me'. Self fulfilling prophecy, my boy. Maybe stop using your huge size and BOOMING voice to get what you want.
When the Clan uses their votes to vote him out, the vote starts with... Dandeliontuft. She completes her arc. She was the first to know that Bramblestar was replaced when he started paying more attention to her, and now she is going to take down the real one.
Is Bramblestar had a nickel for every time he has been snapped at by golden tabby mollies he was related to, he would have 3 nickels. Not a lot, but he doesn't have a concept of money, so that's okay.
They vote against him because his leadership has been nothing but disaster. Which....
Fair enough. Ashfur wasn't his fault but there's a reason no one thought he'd been replaced for a WHILE, longer than in canon. Bramblestar was not liked, most cats were gunning for Hollyleaf to be made leader.
He tries to fight back against this, that he was blessed by Starclan, this is unfair, they were only doing this because of his father, what would Firestar think?
For the second time in Clan history, in broad daylight, a lightning bolt strikes. It is taken as a very clear sign. Starclan has made its approval of Hollyleaf QUITE clear!
But! Boom! A wild Lionblaze and Heathertail appeared!
Lionblaze used Announcement!
"THE MOONPOOL IS CURSED"
it's super effective...
Well, that sucks. But Hollyleaf is smart. She knows that something will be done about it, but in the meantime, take leader names, pick new deputies, and build yourselves up. Skyclan is about to break into civil war, Splashstar and Berrystar are coming down on the other Clans to purge 'outsider blood' and make them "pure" again.
Hollystar names Lilyheart or Rosepetal her deputy. Haven't decided yet.
I know Frostpaw is gonna stay in Windclan for a while, trying to unravel the mystery behind Curlfeather and her group, because there needs to be more to it than what she has been told.
Sunbeam is done with Nightheart's whiny crap, and will probably end up with Myrtlebloom or Finchlight, or back with Lightleap. He is told to get over himself.
Lightleap is now a POV and is struggling with being enough, throwing herself into more and more reckless situations and overworking herself. She needs to prove herself, in her own eyes.
Frostpaw has an epic escape from an animal hospital, also Smoky died of pneumonia between arcs. The three new barn cats are Rosey (tortoiseshell molly with green eyes), Whiskers (black tom with long white whiskers), and Muffin (white tom with blue eyes, deaf in one ear). They had no idea what would happen, but they are young and panicked at the sight of Frostpaw's wounds, calling for the Twolegs, who rush Frostpaw to the vet. She trusts them through her fear, as is her nature.
Jury's out on if she still gets spayed.
Fringewhisker loses her back leg to Berryheart's trials, before she and Spireclaw flee Shadowclan, heading for Skyclan. It may be a shitstorm over there, but at least they will be safe.
Frostpaw is determined to know what is causing the curse, and to get to the bottom of it.
The arc ends with the villains winning, leading to the next arc, Dark Times, because we need to take it easy on how disconnected the arcs are.
Arcs 9 and 10 are Homebrew.
Dark Times and Beyond The Stars.
Also, the book names for A Starless Clan have begun to shuffle, I know the first one is River and the last WILL be Star.

asc wind spoilers/kinda liveblogging reaction thread under the cut (if i formatted right)
breezepelt is so scrungle i love him and sun kinda bonding over their shit parents
absolutely love how shadowsight basically adopts frostpaw like he saw the trauma she went through and was like her. she's my bestie now. and puddleshine very begrudgingly accepts her and is like 'fine i'll help you' like he doesn't want to but actually does
sunbeam ily but please realize karenheart is a piece of shit who doesn't actually care about you
i absolutely adore bayshine. homie is ride or die. sunbeam was like 'i want to bring herbs to my mom' and my man immediately came up with a plan to get her out unnoticed i love him
if karenheart isn't dead by the end of the next book i'm gonna scream
also sunbeam being relieved that it would be jay and alder looking after karenheart in thunderclan??? girlie have you met jayfeather??? your mom wouldn't die from her infection bc they would kill each other
also it's been awhile since we had a 'cat gets held prisoner in another clan overnight' FAFO situation, welcome back old friend
also they really glossed over "jayf and alder spoke to leafpool" huh. like i get why but 🥺
re waffle and wasp eavesdropping, i love how jayf probably sensed them immediately but decided to wait for the best moment. the mans has impeccable comedic timing
wafflepaw!!! i'm glad night is his mentor, maybe he'll learn a few things lmao (but erins if you make him lose all of his angst i will be salty. let him stay a scrunkle like jayf)
and squirrelstar calling the haters out and saying that nightheart is building a legacy of his own had me 🥺🥺🥺 let him be free from the burden of being firefam hell yeah
nightheart is arcing i'm so proud of him. he's still scrungly and emo af and that better not ever change but my boy's growing up 🥲
also i love that he actually has a relationship with finchlight now
i love graypaw (thunderclan. god thats not confusing at all) sm already. little mans really wants to call the other clans stinky
not nightheart pranking the apprentices on day one this is why i adore him 'where do we start?' nightheart, with a shit-eating grin 'let's prank em' and then finch and bay said Yes to that idea
i just want to give frost a hug my god
lmao at sun: "your eyes are glowing like amber flames" my aroace girlie read that in a romance novel and thought it would work. at least she didn't say orbs
and our protags are all together now hell yeah. frosty and her adoptive parents ftw
frostwhistle ftw
if anything happens to mothwing i will kill everyone in this room and then myself
karenheart of course you're there
that was a wild ass ride i'll try and remember to post more coherent thoughts later
#warrior cats#asc spoilers#asc wind#asc wind spoilers#this is a bayshine stan account now#frostpaw#nightheart#sunbeam#ace4ace nightsun#berryheart=karenheart if you didn't catch my drift#this is gonna be exciting to adapt in my warriorclan au

my opinions on random “a starless clan” cats as i just finished river
thunderclan
-Nightheart: the angry mommy issues man himself. love him. this is probably the closest we’ll get to a trans character in warriors. also surprised no one mentioned Bristlefrost when he failed his assessments as i remember Bristlefrost failing at least once. they could’ve made a good connection there.
-Honeyfur: pretty design i think, got salty at twigbranch once and haven’t heard from her before or since.
-Bayshine: a sweetie, good brother-ish figure for Nightheart in my opinion.
-Shellfur: never knew much of anything about him but yay he’s got a gf now. happy for him.
-Bramblestar: just step down already man. (i know he does, i can’t wait till i get to it).
-Squirrelflight: can’t wait till i get to Squirrelstar!!
-Bumblestripe: a jerk as always.
-Finchlight: a lil too over enthusiastic about the “greatness” of thunderclan. really shows how arrogant they can be tbh.
-Ivypool: wish i heard more from her.
-Fernsong: i wish we saw more of Fernsong with Ivypool. or any Fernsong at all tbh.
-Sparkpelt: i’m not really sure how to feel about her and her relationship with Nightheart. it’s definitely interesting though and something new.
-Cloudtail: him as an elder is amazing.
shadowclan
-Berryheart: Spireclaw’s relationship with her hits too close to home. all i gotta say. also (proceeds to say more anyway) totally Mother Gothel-coded, there’s a pmv of her with “Mother Knows Best” that fits so well. “i’m your mother, and i know you better than you know yourself” (226).
-Sparrowtail: i kinda like how he sorta initially was on Berryheart’s side but now he’s really uncertain about her beliefs. interesting in seeing more about this relationship.
-Spireclaw: love him!! a sweetie! wanna see more of him and Fringewhisker. also interested in the tension with him and Berryheart over this. lowkey kin him.
-Dovewing: she’s not deputy, but i see her as sort of like a clan “princess”, y’know?
-Sunbeam: relate to her a lil, also i think she has the cutest name ever. at first i thought her unrequited crush on Blazefire felt like a repeat of Bristlefrost and Stemleaf but at least Stemleaf was nice. Blazefire was straight up gaslighting her about being concerning about Lightleap “pffft she’s fine bro you’re not the clan leader” aughhh
-Blazefire: this is why you don’t do friends with benefits guys.
-Lightleap: augh she’s so terrible but i love her at the same time. i love how a protagonist’s sibling can finally be explored upon with how the previous events from the broken code affect her psychologically. doing a psychoanalysis on her hehe.
-Gullswoop: haha just a gal who loves gossip. glad a she-cat background character can actually have a personality now.
-Pouncestep: wish we heard more from her tbh. there’s shadowsight obviously and now the whole lightleap thing but we don’t know much about Pouncestep or how things have affected her. she’s just kinda.. there.
skyclan
-Leafstar: please just let her rest. i’m begging.
-Hawkwing: i want him to be leader already, i feel like he would be a good leader with all the character development he’s had in his super edition.
-Fidgetflake: his name is so cute i love him. don’t hear from him at all though really, i just like his name.
-Uhhhh that’s about all the skyclan cats we hear from.
windclan
-Hootwhisker: bro really just yeeted himself over a stream into thunderclan territory for a vole.
-Whistlepaw: she’s so sweet i love her. please Erins let Whistlepaw and Frostpaw be together. please. please. i’ll give you all my warriors plushies.
-Crouchfoot: i know absolutely nothing about him but i just thought that’s a kinda funny name.
-Songleap: what.. is a.. song ..leap..?? how do songs…. you know what, nevermind.
-Fernstripe: with her and Fringewhisker, and also Dovewing from before, i’m really noticing a trend with typically she-cats leaving their clans for toms. not sure how i feel about that.
riverclan
-Splashtail: a nefarious lil guy from what i’ve heard? very interested to see more of him, he reminds me a lot of Hawkfrost. i also have a suspicion that he faked the curled feather sign on page 215. i mean, Frostpaw went with just Splashtail and she heard someone walking around above the moonpool then finds the feather on the path. is it a fake sign did bro just pull a Hawkfrost. —or what if the sign was real but meant for Icewing, as it was a white feather, and that night Frostpaw dreamed about the feathers turning into “birds, whirling around her head like a blizzard” (219).
-Owlnose: just a silly lil guy.
-Mistystar: was arguing and literally fell and died. best death ever. rip the queen.
-Duskfur: still mad at her over Mistystar’s death tbh.
-Reedwhisker: poor man. all i gotta say.
-Havenpelt: i just like her name.
-Mothwing: if anything happens to her, Blixemi is gonna lose it.
-Icewing: haha Wings of Fire name.
-Curlfeather: such a pretty name tbh. she seemed so sweet but i heard she’s actually evil? interested to learn more in the next books. it may make sense, she seemed a little overbearing at times, maybe a cover? also Curlfeather suggesting Frostpaw goes to her den and Frostpaw immediately finding the 5-pointed dock leaf sign there (124-125) is kinda suspicious, i feel like she might’ve faked a sign.
-Jayclaw: died of “unknown causes” is a lil suspicious. right after Curlfeather mentions his death, the book says “a heartbeat later Curlfeather went on more briskly-” (18) and she changes the topic. i’m wondering if Curlfeather killed him after maybe he disagreed with her evil plans? could’ve pulled a Hollyleaf and killed him to keep him mute.
-Frostpaw: poor lil fluffy kid is traumatized, i just wanna give her a big hug.
-overall, this book was amazing and so far i might like this arc even better than the broken code, we’ll have to see

this fandom praises the most boring and/or awful toms for the worst reasons. no, fartwhisker the 2nd is not a "complex and interesting character" just because he did a good thing one (1) time
tree - he's interesting, in his own way, but that's about all he's got going for him. i dislike his entire thing with violetshine (violetzelda otp) and generally hate his whole selfish disregard for the sisters during squilf's hope, and his refusal to seek them out in tbc. i think he's a good father though, i just... don't like anything about him outside of that.
alderheart - boring as all get out. he's what you'd get if you took leafpool, made her a tom, and stripped her of all her individuality. also... sparkpelt should've gotten his arc. it's just the truth
fernsong - ohhhh i HATE this guy... he pressures ivypool into having his kits claiming that *he'll* raise them in the nursery... only to not follow through. he doesn't even hardly interact with his kits at all, leaving that to ivypool... i want to throw him off a cliff
rootspring - no personality, whines about how he's "so different and special", weirdly pushy when bristlefrost turns him down multiple times, doesn't take 'no' for an answer, and essentially overtakes bristlefrost's chapters midway through tbc out of *nowhere*, where suddenly she reciprocates his feelings apparently???? rootspring sucks, hate to say it! (i actually prefer nightheart to him. nightheart is more selfish and disagreeable, but he has his rare good moments too - specifically in thunder w/ frostpaw, i enjoyed their friendship. i hate nightsun though, whyyyyy cant those two just be friends)
thrushpelt - he's a nice character, and i do enjoy him for what he is, but his popularity is... confusing to me to say the least. he's kinda just generic, i guess, and i feel he gets *way* too much praise for it (similar to brackenfur, oakheart, or poppyfrost in that way)
100% I completely agree, the male characters do the bare minimum and they're praised for it and made out to be this great and complex character
Tree: His entire concept is interesting but it's all fumbled so fucking bad, I gotta find the post but I saw something that talked about how Tree felt like he was made to overshadow TwigBranch and I couldn't agree more. I hate his dumb fucking "What if MEN were OPPRESSED and WOMEN were SUPERIOR" backstory thing with the Sisters. And the thing is that the Sisters are a cool concept but they try and demonize them so bad, they're interesting in concept but in execution it's awful. I hope Tree dies actually
AlderHeart: It should have been SparkPelt, that's all I'm saying. Everything about his character should have been given to SparkPelt, I agree. Also nowadays to me, he doesn't really read as having anxiety. SMUDGE reads as having anxiety more and he's a background Kittypet.
FernSong: Let's execute him.
RootSpring: Kinda like Tree in that his concept is neat but execution sucks ass. "Waaah waah I'm ostracized for my ghost-seeing powers in a society that knows that ghosts are real and worships them, woe is me :(" I'll kill you. He should have died alongside BristleFrost and ShadowSight
ThrushPelt: I do like his nice connection with BlueStar but beyond that he's pretty alright. I don't hate him he's 100% a character that I'm pleasantly reminded of from time to time

Jokes aside, I really appreciate how the writers handled mothwing and frostpaw relationship, I was afraid they where just gonna turn this into a shadowsight 2.0, but mothwing had multiple moments, especially in the lasts three books where you could see she cared about frostpaw.
Yes, I know she was awful to her at the start, but now she worries for her a lot. I might be reading too much into things, however, I get the impression that, after she found out frostpaw might have died in thunder, she realized she truly cared about her and didn't want to lose her like it happened with leafpool, willowshine and mistystar, and thus became more protective of her.
In the audio clip the way that Frostpaw starts thinking about Mothwing taking care of her immediately thinking about Curlfeather make me hope or at least leave room for headcanon that Mothwing has become a new mother figure in Frostpaw’s life at this point in the book. It’s very sweet how Mothwing is fussing over her in the audio clip.
