some stuff on.. *shudders*.. twitter got me thinking tldr fake leak about Wario in M&L Brothership, which led to people discussing the common dream of a M&L game with the overalled quartet. how would Wario and Waluigi work in a combat-focused setting? would they be able to work in-sync like Mario and Luigi do? would they even work at all? i wahnder.

I love wario. I love mario and luigi. I love Mario & Luigi. I even love waluigi. But for the love of god would I hate to have them all in the same room. Here is why:

Wario would never be part of a team that he couldn't be in charge of, much less one with Mario in it. Wario has his own life, his own goals, and his own social circle, none of which have anything to do with mario. He's his own man now

On a similar note, Wario's whole schtick is (ironically) being unique from Mario. Wario Land is a mario game if you tailored every single game mechanic to his very soul, such that it is so distinct that we call other games "wariolikes". To make Wario conform to the game mechanics of a Mario game, RPG or not, would make me very upsetti spaghetti

Also, Waluigi and Wario are NOT EVEN FRIENDS!!! At best, they are exes that sometimes bully people together when they are invited to the same party (if you subscribe to Poppadopolos theory, which I do). At worst, they are simply guys that are not friends, that sometimes bully people together when they are invited to the same party. I DO NOT want waluigi and wario to share a legit game together because I feel this goes against everything we know about the Wahs.

On a related note, I am of the staunch opinion that Waluigi deserves better than to be scaffolded into someone else's series. Luigi has Luigi's Mansion, Wario has WarioWare/Wario Land, and Mario has everything else. If Waluigi gets "his own game", it should be a place where he can build his own identity proper rather than piggybacking off of someone else as usual

So you can understand why this is not something on my wishlist (because I am a fun-hating asshole). That being said, for the purposes of this thought exercise, let's say that miyamoto himself is holding me at gunpoint and telling me I can't have any more microgames until I make this happen. Here is how I would approach this concept in a way that is least likely to make me go insane:

I wouldn't make it a M&L game, it would be its Own Thing. This is so that the mario & luigi series can continue to feature mario & luigi while opening up the possibility for this concept of all 4 guys working together to have (sigh) a sequel.

The thing that makes this all happen is that in the first chapter the Big Bad Guy of the week somehow transports/knocks the overall men into a deep and inescapable chasm (a volcano, a nightmare, a inside of a whale, whateverthefuck) and you start as mario and have to find luigi.

Along the way you find everyone except luigi. You have to fight wario and waluigi separately before they begrudgingly agree to join your party.

Because you're all kind of fucked they suck it up and decide to work together with each other and mario just to get the hell out of there. Maybe you can shoehorn luigi's superjump ability in here to justify why the other guys would give a damn about finding luigi.

You find luigi.

Once you get out of the Hole Situation you have all 4 guys in your "party" and find out that you all have to work together to save the world super paper mario style. I still don't know if this would be sufficient motivation for either wario or waluigi but something will be in it for them. I guess.

I think Wario should be able to pick up and use Waluigi as various tools (e.g. hammer, crowbar, pole vault), because he is a tool. I don't know it just feels right

Alternatively (or in addition to that), I think it would be fun to have different pair combos of guys you can use at a time, each with their own benefits. Obviously mario+luigi and wario+waluigi would be an option but it would also be fun to explore the potential synergy between wildcard combos like wario+luigi and waluigi+mario

The penultimate boss is wario+waluigi randomly betraying you and using all the skills and EXP you taught them along the way. They behave after you kick their ass though

FUCKING SNOW DAY! Like the universe finally decided to give us a break by dumping a metric shit-ton of white stuff everywhere.

Went to see Narnia with x, x, and x. Jesus Christ (pun absolutely fucking intended) – talk about getting hit over the head with metaphors. It's like C.S. Lewis got drunk with L. Frank Baum and they decided to Christian-ify Oz.

Let's break this shit down:

Lion = Jesus/God (subtle as a brick through a window).

White Witch = Satan in a fancy dress.

Wardrobe = Portal to Sky Daddy's gaff.

Turkish Delight = Sin, I guess? (Though honestly, that stuff's punishment enough).

despite the fact he may seem like he’s dense lukas knows some things --- and one of those things is that he’s pretty good at making things either weird or awkward or both.   not like he does it on purpose , either , it’s just how he is sometimes and he regrets it for the most part.   so when he turns around after knocking someone out in a fight ( he’d been trying to avoid violence but he also didn’t really want to have to visit his doctor acquaintance again )      only to find someone standing there he pauses. yeah , this probably qualified for the weird list. and awkward. maybe both.

he blinks , once , twice , three times in total before he slowly lifts his hands only to realise his gloves have been torn from the knife the other man had carried and his scars were accentuated by bits of blood running over them.   he takes a few steps back and takes a deep breath.   he’s not exactly sure what he’s supposed to do to prove that he was , in fact , not as evil as he might seem right now. it’s just that he overheard the currently unconscious man talking about attacking someone else & that the situation  had escalated after lukas ,  surprisingly politely ,  told him not to  do something that stupid. the fact he kept getting caught doing vaguely bad things was really something he needed to get a check on        --- that couldn’t be normal.

I Need Consistent Help For a Little While

I’ve had a lot of donations posts circulating, the most recent one asking for people to help feeding myself. It’s been hard to ask for help while watching whatever cash I was saving to buy myself a new laptop dwindling. 

This is what I need: I need a new laptop, I need stuff off this wishlist because my life with severe OCD (and an abusive parent) demands special accommodations just so I can navigate my room being able to touch things, and I need to find a solution food wise because I can’t use the kitchen and its appliances.

I’m also very aware that we’re all broke, that reproductive rights are reaching a new level of endangerment, facism is there, and that the people who could afford to give aren’t the people that feel like giving. But I also know I can difficultly go on the way it’s going.

I need to eat and I need money for transportation, because very simply, I cannot use the kitchen or its appliances (I have been told at different moments to find another kitchen to cook in, the least amount of cooking requires heavy surveillance). Also, I need to buy clothes because removing the fast in fast fashion can only last so long. My P*p*l is ccd4t@virginia.edu

I need to be able to navigate my room without having to wash my hands every other time. That means having “OCD safe” items until I reach the point in therapy where I can touch certain things without having a panic attack. My solution to this problem is this wishlist (and yes there is makeup on there and there are multiple of the same item, because once again, when items are “contaminated”, I throw them away and you don’t get to decide what’s “essential.) So once again, this wishlist  helps me have an easier life mental health wise.

I also need a new laptop. I’ve been needing a new laptop, and everytime, something more urgent comes up, and everytime, I delay the purchase, but I need a better laptop if I want to expand my creative work. Once again my P*p*l is ccd4t@virginia.edu

Now before I say anything, I wanna start off with the disclaimer that I’m fully aware that game development is difficult and expensive, and as such not everything I want is going to make the final cut. Larian has done an excellent job so far with the game, and given their past games I trust them to make Baldur’s Gate 3 a satisfying experience.

That being said, I have a wishlist of stuff I would love to see in the game , and I’m gonna blather about it because I can!

More races! Kenku and Tabaxi would be my first picks, but I’d also love to see Aarakocra, Kobold, Dragonborn, Genasi, Firbolg, or Lizardfolk. There’s also whispers out there that Larian is trying to sneak Warforged into the game, and I want it! Granted, they’d have to do some brain bending to find a way for them work into the story of the game, but they’d also have to do that for a bunch of these races, so they could probably pull it off they wanted to.

More Good Aligned Companions! Listen, Larian has done a really good job with the companions so far. They are complex, deep characters with all kinds of interesting baggage,but... I’d like to have some more people on side my who aren’t either seconds away from turning on me the moment I am no longer useful, or smug, condescending assholes! Okay, maybe that’s a bit too harsh, but still. Most of the current companions seem to lean towards evil alignments, and when you do selfless things, they get pissy. Or, are just pissy in general. As someone who pretty much always goes for good alignment in video games,(doing bad things in video games makes me feel bad, okay?) it’s kind of frustrating to be surrounded by a bunch of people who keep getting mad about it. I’m not asking for perfect goody two-shoes characters, I honestly think that would kind of ruin the game, but maybe a some one a liiiittle less edgey would be nice. In summary, more companions would be great, preferably some that lean a little more on the nice side.

Monk! Monk is probably one of my favorite classes, and it’s definitely one of my favorite non-caster classes.It’s the class I’m most looking forward to, and I can’t wait to kick goblins in the nards with the power of E N L I G H T E N M E N T! That’s it really. No dream features or anything here, I just wanna do some Kung-Fu fighting with expert timing. Moving on!

More weird side stuff! I’m not saying that there isn’t already a lot of weird side stuff in the game, because there is. You can walk in on a bugbear and an ogre ‘doing it’ and can get a magic spell/potion that lets you just walk up to any random animal and talk to them. No, what I’m saying is I want more. This weird optional stuff that encourages the player to check every nook and cranny of the game is basically Larian’s hallmark, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. More please!

More Class Archetypes! I honestly don’t think we’ll be getting any subclasses outside of the PHB, at least not during early access. I’m pretty sure that Larian is just trying stick with the basics for now, at least when it comes to classes. Which, fair enough, but I think it might be kind of cool if we got some dlc post release that added stuff from Xanathar’s Guide, or maybe even Tasha’s Cauldron. Speaking of which...

Post Release DLC/content updates! Baldur’s Gate 3 is already MASSIVE and it’s not even finished. There’s so much content, with even more to come!... Buuuuut Dnd as a whole is still waaaaay bigger. Inevitably, there’s plenty of stuff that won’t make the final cut, because Larian only has so much time and resources. Which is why I would like to see some dlc or something. Once the game is out, hopefully they can come back later and some stuff they couldn’t fit in the base game. New races, new subclasses, new companions, new spells, maybe a new area to explore, that sort of thing. Heck, maybe they could even slide the Artificer class in there, if they were feeling ambitious!

Nanwum IV scheming

So I’ve got less than 6000 words to go on this month’s Camp Nano goal, and there’s six more days in July, which means I’m juuuuust caught up enough to get ahead of myself and think about how to handle this year’s National Novel Writing Month in November.  

For anyone just joining us, I’ve been writing this damn wienerfic for the past five years, and I’ve been using National Novel Writing Month (or Nanwum as the kids like to call it.) to power through the project and test my skills.   I’ve won three times, in 2017, 2018, and 2019.    This fall will be my fourth run.

I feel like I need a stronger plan for this one, since my first attempt in 2017 was much more structured, and I think that was a huge help.    2018 was good in the sense that I finished quickly, wrote thirty days in a row, and got an extra 10k past the goal.   I won in 2019, but it was kind of a mess, and I feel like I should take steps to keep the same thing from happening in 2020. 

So this is kind of my wishlist of stuff I want to achieve this November.   Dunno if I’m going to pull it all off, but I at least want a list of goals to score myself against.

1. Hit 50,000 words by November 20.    I’ve done this before, mostly out of fear that if I fell too far behind that I wouldn’t be able to get caught up in time to finish.  Now that I’m more experienced, fear isn’t as much of a factor, but the strategy still works, so I need to do it because it’s smart.   This would require me to write an average of 2500 words per day for the first 20 days.   

2. Write for thirty days in a row.   I pulled this off in 2018 and it felt pretty good.   In ‘17, I purposely scheduled days off for myself, which seemed like a good idea, but I think it does help me more to write at least a few words each day, if only to maintain momentum.   If I can hit goal #1, then I don’t expect great things from those final ten days.   In 2018 it was more of a victory lap.   But the idea is to keep me moving on those first 20 days.   

2a. I’d like to establish an 800 word/day minimum goal, but I’m not sure if that’s realistic.   If successful, I’d be pulling down 58,000 by 11/30/2020.   

3. Write 7000 words in one day.   So I’ve set two records for one-day writing.    The first was the clothing-optional Luffa #69, which I just pounded out in October 2017 while I was talking myself into the Nanwum experience.    That was about 6,000 words, but I’d need to look up the exact number.    The second time was November 11, 2018.  I’m more proud of that one because I had set out to hit 6,000.   Luffa #69 was just me on a roll, and wanting to finish the chapter in one day.    If I had managed to wrap it up in 3500 I would have.    

So my official record stands at 6,044 words in one day.    I’d like to break that, and I want to break it in a big way, so I’m aiming for 7000.   The way I see it, if I fail, then boo-hoo, I’ll still have a big one-day total.  

I’m thinking that maybe my best bet is to attempt this on day one.   Historically, I usually go into these things with a lot of momentum, and I’d be coming off of a day off from writing, so I’d be as fresh as possible.   So basically, 10/31, then 12:01 on 11/1 and I knock out a thousand words to start things off, and see where things go from there.   

The best way to make this work is to plan ahead just what I want to write.   It would also help if I had multiple things to switch around in case I get stuck.    What made 11/11/18 work so well was that I had a big dramatic fight scene that I’d been looking forward to, but also a couple of other chapters I could touch up.    I need similar conditions for 11/1/20.

Off the top of my head:

a.) Luffa Annual #2.  I had some fun doing a Christmas side-story with the characters, and I sort of wanted to make it an annual thing.  The trouble with Annual #1 was that I didn’t start it until December, and I couldn’t get it posted in time for Christmas, so it’s probably for the best if I just make this a fun thing I do on the side for Nano.   I’m not sure what I should do for the annual this year, although a magical girl/sentai kind of story.   Dunno how to make that about Christmas, wait, I’m an idiot, I’ll just have them fight a giant half-reindeer/half-pine tree monster that shoots missiles shaped like egg nog cartons.

...

You know, I say that like it’s a joke that I plan to workshop into something better later on, but honestly, that’s probably as good as it’s going to get.    Sorry to spoil everyone.   Pinedeer confirmed for brawl.

b.) Mega Chiaotzu?    Fuck it, Mega Chiaotzu.

c.) Look, I don’t want to get to spoiler-y, but I should be pretty deep into the Xenoverse phase of the story by November, so I had thoughts in mind for a Time Patrol mission to the Ginyu Force leg of the Namek Saga, basically for the sole purpose of having Luffa guest-star in DBZ Episode 66, the episode that inspired the character.   L U F F A C E P T I O N, if you will.

d.) On that note, I need to start introducing my Time Patrol supporting cast members, such as Excitebike, Big League Chew, and Dewar.    Man I almost forgot Dewar’s name for a second, I’d better do him first.   

I dunno, I think those four ideas ought to carry me past 7k.     I don’t expect to finish all of them, or even any of them on 11/1/18, but that should keep me busy.  

To summarize all this, if my plan goes well, I’d be looking at 7000 words on the first day, then I’d need to write 2263 words/day to hit 50k by 11/20.   Then I could take it easy and write 800 a day through the 30th.   That’s going to be tough, but do-able.   2000 a day has been a decent cruising speed for me in past years, but I feel like I’ve really fallen off of that lately.    The goal here will be to push myself to get back into that mode, and I think all the work I’ve been doing in January through September will really get me where I need to be.   Of course, I gotta finish July first, so if you’ll excuse me.

When I started shipping them: Mainly when I started to notice their parallelism to MarYu, I think. I’m pretty sure it was sometime around Breakfast Challenge. 

My thoughts: I love how they’re the most mature ones in PSD and the ones who constantly shake their heads at everyone else. Yet still they’re different enough from each other to create some interesting dynamic. They’re certainly a very charming idea together and I also think they wouldn’t face all too many complications in a relationship. 

What makes me happy about them: How it’s canonically established that Ryoko can read Shun!!! That’s just...ah the core of the ship to me. 

What makes me sad about them: The fact that the biggest moment the had wasn’t adapted in the anime >:/ This is one of the reasons why I rank Season 3 over Season 2 in preference, N G L. Ni no Sara skipped so much. It’s unbelievable.

My thoughts: They’re two weirdos who found each other ahdhd. I just like the ideas of them as stalker-buddies who know everything about everybody, but would never actually harm anyone despite their eery looks. 

What makes me happy about them: The height difference and how both of their designs are made to look imitating, although with different methods. 

What makes me sad about them: That they literally never got to meet? Like come on! I’m not asking for them to actually get canon in the manga, but they should’ve at least meet! They share the same hobby and I think it could have been so much fun.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Hisako or Miyoko for Nao and Subaru....hm, @yourmoontothenightsky made him end up with Madoka and I think that’s a pretty cute idea.

My happily ever after for them: Both pursuing their odd hobbies and career while being happily married and supportive of each other through and through.

When I started shipping them: At the end of the first Polar Star Party ever shown in the manga/anime, Yuki tries to wake Zenji my patting his cheek and chanting “Marui” demandingly. It was really cute to me in the anime and welp. 

My thoughts: OTP. Babies. Pure, fluffy babies. I know I haven’t made all too much content for them recently, but I think that has mainly to do with my current life situation and how upside down everything is, which is why I currently just think of more complicated ships as a tad bit more intriguing to explore I think. But I do still love MarYu from the bottom of my heart and I always will. They’re my first ship ever in the fandom and ahhh, they’re just so cute and make me so happy! It’s a very sunny and cuddly ship in my eyes and I love every single moment they have...ah I can’t. 

What makes me happy about them: Just...To me, with every tiny interaction they have....They just still seem to close to me? How quickly Yuki turns to Zenji whenever she wants something explained, how he always tries his best to satisfy her curiosity. How often they’re shown together. That they can both be childish together and ahhh....just...They’re made for each other I swear. 

What makes me sad about them: That the frikkin anime cuts more and more of their moments, like....can you maybe not? I really don’t have much. Please don’t remove my table crumbs. 

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I did like most of what I’ve seen from then in the very few fanfic material they have. 

Things I look for in fanfic: sahdhdf more fanfic in general. 

My wishlist: Oh gee, honestly I’d really love to see a take on them growing up together. How they’ve been friends for so long and how their relationship will develop over the years. Wether they will keep in contact when graduating or if contact brakes and they meet each other by accident or so again....You know, such stuff maybe.

To me it stands out in the way it manages to be extremely bland, with two characters that are also pretty much incompatible, that’s why I find it more exhausting than the truly “problematic” ships

When I started shipping them: When I was bored enough to dare and read Lawlight fics, because 90% of interesting sounding DN fics have that ship in it. It was some time after I finished the manga, when I was still semi-determined to keep Lawlight as my NOTP…

My thoughts: I don’t think any character could ever complement L as well as Light does. They’re obviously meant to be each other’s adversary, but L’s existence is about how well he both torments and contrasts Light, so they do make each other more interesting. Without Light, we wouldn’t have L and I respect that. That’s certainly the main reason I find it so interesting to explore their relationship in more than just one context. If you can handle romantic undertones or outright romance between them is certainly a matter of taste, though. And not everyone can dive as willingly as I can into AUs

What makes me happy about them: How entertaining their dynamic is. Nothing is worse than a boring protagonist + antagonist dynamic, and it’s a well-known fact that that sort of relationship often has the most potential

What makes me sad about them: Everything else

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Classic yaoi clichés, Misa or Mikami bashing, sex god!L, Light (while having his Kira related memories) giving up on being Kira because he has a crush on L, L only chaining himself to Light for ulterior reasons, and non-con stuff is more than just annoying to me

Things I look for in fanfic: Engaging & unique plot that isn’t just (or even mainly) about romance, ICness, a dynamic that stays true to canon without the murder, interesting AUs, if it’s explicit,

Hey, guys, I'm nervous to even make this post, because I'm usually not the kind of person who does this kinda thing, let alone ask others for assistance, but I really need your help. It's Autism Acceptance Month, and most of you don't know this, but I'm under a conservatorship ( in case you don't know what that is, the link leads to ASAN and conservatorships and why they're inherently abusive to autistic and otherwise disabled and neurodivergent people and should be made illegal ) in a dysfunctional household that's trying to recover and I'm going into a mental hospital today of my own free will. It's possible I'll explain my situation a little in the future but it's not a guarantee but what I can guarantee is that I'll be updating y'all on my time in care.

For those of you who don't know me, hi, my name is Arcana ( and for those I'm extremely close to, Angel / Angie ), and I’m a queer, trans / nonbinary / genderfluid, Two Spirited, intersex, mspec, aspec, autistic, disabled, neurodivergent, HoH, chronically ill, psychotic spoonie witch, mixed Native / Indigenous and Ashkenazi Jewish "Canadian" bodied system, I'm an aspiring activist, ASMR roleplayer, fashion model, voice actrex, film actrex ( hopefully getting into something big on Netflix and/or HBO one day ), ASMRtist, youtuber/vtuber, polyglot and writer, and I need support, especially because I don't know how long I'll be in care.

Sure, Bowser can play a part in some way. I don’t know how I feel about him partnering up with the Mario Bros. Maybe it could work if they find a way to expand the sort of interactions in Superstar Saga to a full game. Maybe he can serve as a strategist, entrusting Mario & Luigi to do missions he deams too dangerous for his minions :3c Not like option or anything, just progressing the story forward.

-Peach not getting kidnapped somehow (perfect timeline: she's important to the story regardless) 

Yeah! Wouldn’t be a deal breaker but I would love to see her take a more active role, like the kind in Paper Jam. 

Oh! Maybe do a sort of team up between Bowser n Peach where they both give M&L stuff that needs to be done in preparation of taking down the main villain or helping those in need.

SPEED :  Depends on the day. Some days, I’ll take it slow, but other’s i’ll reply as much as I can. I normally keep up to speed with my threads. Asks I’m working on but can’t get enough!

REPLIES :  Depends on the thread or the day, but I normally keep up quick with my replies. Out of the 40-something threads I have, those for my turn normally stay around between 7-12, but I’ll try to knock it out. And I don’t do it too quickly either. I pay attention and try not to put too many words in my thread and make sure the passion is shown. Like working on an art piece.

STARTERS :  I make sure I read carefully before answering one to know I’m good with it. I get excited but I don’t wanna break anyone’s rules. I’m always up for making starters and greeters... but WILL they get answered? 75% of the time they don’t (even if they are liked) and that’s a bit discouraging, especially when putting some thought into most of them. If I wanted to write by myself, I’ll do it on FF.net or A03 instead -.-;

INBOX :  Surprisingly I’m happy that my inbox is a bit full with random questions and I get anons more than ever! It’s gonna take a minute to answer but I’m pushing for it at least 2 a day. I also think I can start answering them with sketches or art too. That’ll be fun!
