I think what's so interesting about Gideon as a narrator at the anniversary dinner is the fact that there's clearly tensions that she's just not picking up on because she's only there to eat a dessert.

But these people are all the immensely powerful leaders of the Houses and consider themselves to be in competition for literal godlike powers and the favour of the emperor.

There's so many little snippets that are potentially intriguing: why is Teacher trying to prime the Ninth to consider the Fifth a threat? Why are the Third and the Sixth "sizing each other up like prizefighters"? The Fifth absolutely knew what they were doing when they sat the teen heads of the opposing cults near each other.

Through Gideon's lens, Magnus' speech is a little awkward jokey thing. But...the seneschal of the House that is known to be actively trying to absorb another House is saying it's such a shame they're all so remote from each other and what do they all have in common (and it's so quiet you "could have heard a hair flutter to the floor") - that had to feel a bit different to people who aren't Gideon.

Palamedes' is dissecting the meaning of "Master Warden" and at one point compares it to a prison warden. 'Dulcinea' asking about whether Magnus and Abigail have children is perhaps less small talk and rather more pointedly political. Harrow's apparently stilted conversation with Protesilaus is clearly her actually probing his limitations like he's a bad Chat GPT-run chatbot.

And then 'Dulcinea' tells Gideon she liked the dinner because it was "useful". In her typical "I never lied to you" way, Cyth wasn't lying when she said Abigail had to die because of her hobby - Abigail Pent let loose on the Facility would have risked blowing Cyth's cover sky high. But what does a Canaan House look like where after the dinner party, the Fifth go down to the facility, get a key, and survive to continue their 'the Houses are going to get along or else' agenda? We've seen Fifth House soft power on a smaller scale in HTN: and it looks like inviting a teenager round for coffee, lulling her into a false sense of security with small talk, and then physically preventing her from leaving the room until she does what you want, while smiling the entire time. A series of little coffee chats could probably have led to a lot of cooperation in Canaan House, one way or another.

Gideon jokes about Silas marrying Ianthe because of their similar colour pallete, but it does raise the fact that there seems to be some tension around the Third, its succession, and the *point* of Ianthe. Why is Silas openly saying Ianthe should have died at birth? Combined with Judith's comments in the Cohort Intelligence Files about succession on the Third, it feels like there's something else being said here that Gideon isn't picking up on.

And of course, Harrow wasn't the only one desperate to become a Lyctor because her con was unsustainable. Presumably at some point Corona and Ianthe would be expected to marry, or at least take on more separate roles as Corona prepared to take over the throne and Ianthe was funneled off elsewhere. At some point, their package deal would have become unsustainable and Corona's cover would have been blown. But much as Harrow wants to become a Lyctor so she can reveal the state of the Ninth without repercussions, Ianthe is probably in part motivated to become a Lyctor for the same reason. Because otherwise, what would Ianthe's expected role have been? Amidst the suggestion of anxiety about the Idan succession, the dinner party also presents the fact that the reason Abigail and Magnus' infertility isn't a succession crisis for the ruling family of the Fifth is that Abigail's younger brother dutifully married in his early 20s and had kids. We know there are branch families in Ida - Babs is from one. He may be a prince, but he's not treated well, and you do get the sense that the stakes to stay in power in Ida are high.

We don't learn anything about the political situation in the Houses themselves during HTN or NTN, but in the wake of Canaan House, you have to suspect there are a number of tensions and concerns.

It's been a week since I got back from Tokyo, and I'm still disappointed by the Kingdom Hearts Ichiban Kuji. It was supposed to start the 31st of May, the day I was flying home. But I checked like a dozen participating 7/11 stores before I went to the airport, and none of them had started it yet. Sigh...

As a silver lining, I did find a 7/11 that had those chocolate wafers out early, so I grabbed a few.

Came with that Missing Link pre-registration and everything. Wonder what's going on with that... And while I'm showing stuff off, here's the other KH merch I bought in my limited time!

Would Hugo, Nuru, or Young ever win the Heist?

So I don’t want to get too into spoilers, but Hugo will be showing up. Not until later, though. So stay tuned. And whether or not he participates or even wins, you’ll have to wait and see. (Remember how Jake hired a thief to help him win? I’ll be taking inspiration from that 😉)

Unfortunately aside from Varigo, I’m not really into Vat7k. I think it’s a great au but it’s not my cup of tea, so Nuru or Yong showing up is unlikely. Sorry.

But, from what I do know of Yong, I don’t think he could win the heist even if all of Team Radical helped him lmao. Nuru on the other hand, I can see her helping Varian and then stabbing him in the back and winning that year. She seems like she’s incredibly smart and a lil ruthless.

3/24/2024: We've received some gifts!

One of our Instagram friends, agdoll.world, did a giveaway of an outfit and a set of accessories, and we were lucky enough to be the winner! (By the way, you can also follow us on Instagram at saintalectoshome! It's the same stuff in different configurations, mostly.)

Corona is modeling the Pretty Plaid Outfit and a cute little fancy updo for this very special occasion: she got Judith to agree to go on a cute little date! Judith is wearing the blazer from Tenney's Sparkling Performance Outfit, the pants from Saige's Tunic Outfit with a generic belt, a generic tank top, and boots by BrierRoseDollClothes on Etsy. (If she takes off the blazer, she looks not unlike she's cosplaying as a member of 4*Town.)

Meanwhile, Julie has invited Ianthe for a perfectly platonic spa day (to distract Ianthe from the fact that Corona is on a date).

"Ianthe! Look at these adorable slippers we got!" Julie says.

"Julie, no!" Ianthe cries, lunging in front of Julie. "Don't show them your feet for free!"

As Julie puts the slippers on, Ianthe mutters to herself, "These girls would be nowhere without me to guide them."

"I'll do your hair," Julie offers.

"Ooh, and then I could do your eyes," Ianthe offers.

"What?" Julie asks, because she often forgets about her new friends' necromantic abilities, and when she remembers: "No! I like my eyes just fine. Please leave them in my head."

"I could leave them in and just tweak them," Ianthe says, but she also forgets that her new friends aren't used to such casual body modification, even just as a topic of conversation, so she wisely holds her tongue and lets Julie play with her hair.

They're also accompanied by Porphyrogenita, of course.

They're wearing the AG-canon tank tops and jammie pants and jeans made by @incomprehensiblelentils' mom, and also modeling the Pawsitively Purrfect Accessories (Ianthe the headband and Julie the aforementioned slippers).

I feel like he’s judging me

Yooo guess who got some Covid at the end of the pandemic :D ....

Turns out my annoying little cold + migraine that dragged through the whole past week isn’t just that. 

But that explains the weirdness of it. Like not sure if it started on Monday evening to Tuesday with migraine, Wednesday I was fine again, Thursday I felt like chewed out and shaky, Friday I was fine again, Saturday ill again till now. It’s just mild cold-like for me atm but I though maybe I shouldn’t go to work like this so I went to the doc who got me tested.  

The things I notice that are different from a regular cold:

stiff neck: usually with every cold my lymphatic glands under my jaw & ear swell and hurt a bit. But this time the pain from it drags down the whole sides of my neck, that never happened before

brain zaps & dizziness: the past ill days I had kind of brain zaps I only know from when I got down from SSRI antidepressants, super weird. It’s like every 20 seconds there is an impulse in the brain that makes you feel a bit dizzy or light headed for also just a few seconds

no appetite despite being hungry, didn’t notice any change in taste so far I am just not “in the mood” so to say

physically exhausted and cold

dry coughing and scratchy neck, runny nose not so much

Anyway I am in 5 days quarantine now (by current german covid laws), unless I don’t feel better after the 5 days then it will be longer. Didn’t get any meds I can take my regular pain meds if needed.

The doc said they had a lot of positive patients today and the past week. Probably due to school holidays and carnival parties. Not that I participated in some fun activities, no I got mine from work or commute .-.

12/17/2023: There's another new arrival at St. Alecto's just in time for the holidays.

Meet Judith Deuteros! She's originally a Gabriela who's been rewigged (thanks, ZaZouCustomDolls at Etsy!) and dressed in a sweater/skirt pair by 2debsadorables on eBay and some of Samantha's spare boots. Judith (Jody to Coronabeth her friends) is the necromantic Heir of the Second House, Captain in the Cohort, and someone who needs to learn how to relax. Luckily, we're all about encouraging positive habits here (and discouraging being in the military).

As you might notice, Corona is absolutely thrilled to see Jody here. (Jody is also happy to see her, but she's still not used to the princess' demonstrative affections.) Ianthe is... less thrilled, largely because Judith divides Corona's attention. (We can't do a lot about their enmeshment. They're worse off when they're not together.)

As such, Ianthe has shifted her attention to her other favorite target, Harrowhark. Harrow is of course dressed up in her finest vestments for the season, and quite frankly, she is in disbelief that Ianthe has even bothered her. Gideon, you might notice, feels similarly about Ianthe flirting with Harrow to how Ianthe felt about Corona flirting with Jody. (Gideon is also sporting the Tartan Plaid outfit, because Harrow insisted she dress up for a formal event and like hell she was going to wear a dress.)

Discouraged, Ianthe turns to Courtney. Courtney (wearing a ruffly dress that Harrow was originally delivered in and beyond that I'm unsure of the origin of) has the misfortune of dealing with these advances by virtue of looking kind of like Corona. Is this a genuine attempt to incite jealousy? A genuine attempt to make a connection? It doesn't really matter. Courtney just handles it with a patient smile, because she's determined to make Ianthe (and Corona too) learn how to behave like a real person sometimes.
