"I hope everyone did their homework. We'll need it for the following group project."

"Shit!" You heard your best friend hiss at todays greeting of Mrs Thomson, your english teacher. She then leaned over her desk towards you. "Did you, by any chance, do the homework?"

"Yeah, I did. Just hope we get sorted into the same group." You chuckled, looking back at your teacher as she kept talking. "Everyone will find a card with a certain symbol on it on their desk," she further explained the group project. You looked at the card on the right side of your table, wondering how you didn't notice it sooner. "Everyone with the same symbol then gets together and works with the sheets I'll hand out."

Right as she finished her introduction, you took the card on your desk and turned it around. A big, self drawn, blue star was on the other side. Quickly, you turned to your left, where your best friend sat and held up your card. She suddenly smiled and proudly held up her own card, a blue star drawn on it as well, and quickly made her way over to you. "The luck is on my side!" She squealed, stretching the last i. You just laughed off her dramatic character.

A tap on your shoulder made you turn around, locking eyes with beautiful green ones. You smiled at the girl in front of you, and she returned it, which brought out her cute dimples. A few strands of her auburn hair, which she had tucked back in a lower bun, framed her face perfectly and contrasted those beautifully drawn freckles on and all around her nose.

Ellie Williams.

The girl you've shared the same class with since elementary school. A talented guitar player with straight a's in all science subjects. You never really had anything to do with her, though. Except maybe some small school projects or homework comparison. Therefore, you two also weren't friends.

She held up her arm, exposing various little doodles and drawn symbols on her hand and arm by her fallen down sleeve. From little stars and planets over to abstract patterns, everything scribbled with a black pen. Too focused on that: you didn't even wonder why she held up her arm until your best friend slid a third chair to your desk. Only then did you see the card in her hand with the same star drawn on it as on yours.

The very same moment, Mrs. Thompson came around, handing out the worksheet that was needed. You took it from her, smiling as a 'thank you' and read the first few instructions. "Why are we always doing such unnecessary tasks? We don't even have to be in groups for that." You rolled your eyes annoyed as you told your best friend, handing her the sheet. She skipped over it as well, then handed it over to Ellie. "Fuckin' stupid." She added.

"It won't take that long, though." Ellie started participating in the conversation, "if we hurry, we'll have a longer break." You both nodded, agreeing with her statement. But as you looked over the tasks again, a sigh left your lungs, and with as little motivation as possible, you pulled out your block for notes. A pen already in her hand, your friend copied your move, but making no effort to do any of it.

You just turned towards her, trying to hold the conversation unnoticed by Mrs. Thompson. "Oh my God, yesterday my dad was searching for some key he had lost, but instead found a few old photos from him and his friends when they went stargazing as teenagers!" You loved space, and the photos that were shown to you yesterday by your dad were breathtaking. The original plan was to take them to school, but you unfortunately left them at home, lying on your desk. Of course, you had to promise your friend to at least send a photo of the pictures this evening so she could see them as well.

With a new topic to talk about, the task was long forgotten. Ellie instead decided to blend out your conversation and began working on the few questions regarding the previous homework. They were easy, to say the least, probably again some excuse for Mrs Thompson to see who did something at home and who did nothing, just to grade the homework higher than she could. Ellie didn't really mind, though, because even though English has never really been her strength in school, Mrs Thompson made it really easy to get acceptable grades with just a bit of diligence.

"Ellie?" Your voice made her eyes look up from her work, looking at you expectingly. "We need a third opinion," you continued, as you gave your best friend a triumphant look. "You do know a lot about planets, right?" Ellies nod answered your question, so you went ahead. "If you could rank the planets in our solar system, which categories would you compare to decide on the coolest planet?" Ellie smiled slightly at the question you just threw in the room. With the summary of Shakespeares 'Romeo and Juliet', which they had as homework, still half in mind, she needed a few seconds before actually thinking about a possible answer she could give.

Always when admiring those planets, the first thing that came to her mind were the different characteristics that made each planet so individual. All the different sizes, colours, and features, and none of them would be able to exist without the Sun.

As you noticed, she wasn't gonna answer right away, you just began elaborating on your idea that your best friend declined to Ellie. "If I'd have to rank the coolest planets, I'd definitely rank the ones high that have cool features such as many moons or something. What should not be a main category," you jokingly glared at your best friend as you emphasised the negation,"is the colour of a planet." She just rolled her eyes at your comment.

"Actually," Ellie cut in, "I think the colours are just as interesting as the rest. It resembles the structure and material of the planet, which gives it such cool features in the first place." Her answer impressed you. How could her words make so much sense? A slight warmth in your belly caught your attention, which you just swallowed further down. "But I get your point." She added afterwards.

The confident smirk you sent towards your best friend because of Ellies approval brought up the corners of her mouth slightly.

"It still is soo much cooler to say 'did you know, jupiter was supposed to be a star' instead of, I don't know, 'neptun is blue woah'" You explained your argument again. This time, Ellies eyebrows wrinkled slightly before she voiced her objection.

"Actually, jupiter isn't a failed star. It falsely has the name because it was born from the same cloud of molecular gas that gave birth to the Sun. But without the Sun, Jupiter wouldn't even be able to exist. It was never even close to growing massive enough to become a star as well. It would need about 16 times the mass it already has to even be rightfully considered a failed star.."

As Ellie realized what she said, blush slightly reddened her cheeks. "Sorry, that was not the point you were making.." she added and then quickly looked down at her finished task and pretended to read it over again. You didn't know why, but something about her answer made your stomach flutter, so you just stared at her starstruck, not having any intention of stopping soon. If your eyes could turn into blinking hearts, they would've done so already.

You knew that girl was a nerd and knew a lot. Especially about astronomy (she may or may not have held a presentation about the milkyway, because she thought your teacher didn't do that topic enough justice) but what you didn't know is how such an answer could have such an effect on you. You looked down at your poorly written notes to distract yourself from your current thoughts.

Yeah so I'm not done yapping about expressions this week and ya'll can blame @almayver , @slayerkitty , @prapaiwife , @fallsouthwinter , and @crispywizardtale for enabling me.

I wanted to talk more about Meena in my expressions post because the second I saw her adorable, sweet happy face go from this

to this the second she saw her grandfather waiting for her after school, I knew we were going to be in for a lot.

And boy howdy, were we.

First though, can I say how much I already LOVE Nina? Baby girl is 10 years old and she absolutely blew me away. She's doing a great job. Her expressions as Meena are clear and excellent and telling in the very same way that Tongrak's are. It makes it feel like they're really related and like she's grown up around him her whole life and picked up his mannerisms, it's incredible to see.

Of course, that also meant that she ripped my heart out.

Meena is sweet and cute and intelligent and it's obvious that she's the absolute light of Tongrak's life. She's also very precocious, which means that she knows everything to an extent that no child should.

This baby girl is very aware of how messed up her family is. She knows her grandparents' history, she knows her mother is afraid of her grandfather, she knows her uncle is even more afraid of her grandfather, and even worse than all that, she knows she should be afraid of her grandfather.

When her grandpa shows up at her school, she knows to take a picture and then go in the opposite direction of wherever he is. She knows to tell Tongrak right away. She makes the decision not to tell her mother because she knows it'll stress her out.

She says THIS.

Do you know how fucked up it is for a child to say this so casually?

For all that Tongrak and Kwan have been traumatized and harrowed by their upbringing, it's clear to me that they've done what they can to shield Meena from suffering because of it too. She seems like a bright, happy little girl.

But it's precisely because they're harrowed by it that Meena knows as much as she does. Kids see things. They understand more than they're ever given credit for because so few adults see them as actual people. Even if neither her mother nor her uncle said a word about their family history, Meena would pick up on all the things that are wrong and all the things not being said.

For god's sake, she won't even let her uncle pick her up from school because she knows he's terrified of her grandfather. No child should have the things on their mind that she does.

Yes, it's fucked up that there's even anything for her to be aware of in the first place and that she's having to think about comforting the adults in her life, but being aware of things helps to protect her. There's less of a chance she'll be hurt by her grandfather or anything else if she knows to run away and that she has safe places and people to go to.

And that's why it matters so much that Mahasamut told her the truth about his feelings for and relationship with Tongrak.

No one is ever direct with children. No one dares to be frank with them or meet them on a level they can process and understand because again, children aren't always seen as people. There's always this feeling of "you can't say that to a child" or "that's too much for a child!" and I'll agree that most children don't need to know absolutely everything.

Meena isn't most children, however.

I didn't pick up on it the first time for my expressions post, but when I went back and rewatched the scene in Tongrak's living room, I clocked this expression from Mahasamut.

He makes this face the second Meena brings up her grandfather. He wasn't really paying that much attention to the conversation before this but after? He zeroes in because he knows it's important.

There is no world in which Mahasamut wasn't going to offer--insist even--to pick Meena up from school. Ain't no way. He's just learned exactly how cruel and fucked up Tongrak's father is and now here this child is telling her uncle about how she saw that same man was waiting for her after school. In this exact moment he set himself up as one of those safe people for Meena to go to.

And I really think Mut realizes that in order to be that for her, he has to be honest with her. He tells her and she understands because she is intimately familiar with what it means for one person to pay another for their company. Once he's honest with her, he can then reassure her that he isn't with Tongrak for the money and that he sincerely cares about him.

Meena wants a happily ever after for her uncle. She can pick up on the sadness and loneliness in his novels. She sees that Tongrak takes care of everyone but that no one takes care of him.

When Mut asks her to root for him to get to be the one to take care of Tongrak and that he's confident that he can be, her whole face lights up and she has fight back her smile.

Maybe most kids don't need this level of frankness, but Meena does. I can only imagine how betrayed and hurt she would feel if she were to find out later from someone else that her beloved uncle's relationship began with money like her grandparents' relationship did because she has already seen how that ended.

Mahasamut has known this child for like an hour and already he's treating her and her feelings with the same respect and consideration that he shows to Tongrak. And that is exactly what she and any child deserve from the adults in their life.

To the untrained eye you would seem like a subordinate or nuisance to the cold-hearted god; however, this couldn't be further from the truth. You would considered yourself a close friend to Mu Qing, you have known each other for hundreds of years after all.

Though when asked, Mu Qing would refer to you as "a valuable acquaintance," and boy did it hurt to say this. Luckily, there was a very observant god who decided he had watched you two dance around each other long enough.

The holidays were approaching and Xie Lian thought this would be a great time to force persuade both of you to be in each other's company more often. So, with some hard thought planning and input from San Lang, the boys decided on a special celebration for the gods.

Now considering all these higher beings actually have standards, lots of works will have to be put into this. And who better to ask than someone that'll be excited to attend?

"I can't think of anyone more fitting for this job than you," Xie Lian praised, hoping to get you on the project. Everything has to be perfect if he's gonna get you and Mu Qing together.

You hesitated for a moment, "I've been getting many more prayers recently, though I suppose those can be put on hold..." There was a look of pondering on your face, weighing the pros and cons of what this could do to your status among deities and humans.

"Don't you have subordinates? If anything important happens they'll surely yap to you about it," you tensed at San Lang's words. Subordinates yes, deserving of disrespect no.

Unfortunately though, you must admit he was right. Your subordinates were always more alert than you, even when it came to your own temples. You sighed, "fine, I will help you prepare for this celebration."

After tireless days? Weeks? Of work, you all finally finished the super secret super awesome holiday party. Now you may be wondering would Mu Qing even come to the celebration? The answer is yes, but only if you invite him.

You folded your hands and begged, "if it's not I swear to never invite you again! Just please come this once..." This is what convinced him, the pain that in the future deities will get to enjoy your hard-work and he'll be left out. No one could ever appreciate your efforts like he can.

"Fine! I will agree this once..." That was a lie, he will make sure to agree in the future, even if it means forcing himself to attend a celebration that involved Xie Lian and San Lang.

The day of the celebration was fantastic, several deities appeared, many complimenting you on your efforts. You most oversaw everything that was happening, what you didn't see; however, was Xie Lian spying on you and Mu Qing while talking.

He took this as his chance to put the real plan into action. After getting a signal from San Lang that the mistletoe was hanging up a few feet from you two, Xie Lian basically sprinted into the both of you, pushing you under the plant.

Mu Qing turned around, visibly angry at Xie Lian, "would it hurt to watch where you move?!" This caused Xie Lian to put his hands up in defeat and shuffle away.

While rubbing your head to try and soothe the pain, you noticed something bright above you. Realizing it was mistletoe your face got darker. This caused Mu Qing to seem slightly concerned, questioning what was the problem. You only pointed up, and when he took notice his face also darkened.

"We can simply move and ignore this tradition, it's not that important anyways-" He was interrupted by you however, "rules are rules, Mu Qing, we can't ignore them. Plus, I kinda like this tradition."

He tried to get over the initial embarrassment and decided it would be easier to dive into the kiss. What would've been a fleeting moment to others felt like an eternity to you both.

Pulling away you could both tell by the look in each other's eyes that the feeling was mutual. And hidden somewhere else was a very proud and excited Xie Lian.

You had been in a car video twice with the triplets before this, and you'd appear on occasion in their Wednesday videos sometimes, too. You didn't enjoy being in front of a camera since that would end up with some of your brothers fans getting upset you were in the video. A majority of their fans were great, but the ones that hated on you really started to get to you after a while.

Whenever you'd be in a video you'd be loud like Chris. Always speaking over the others to get your point across, yelling if no one was listening, and interrupting the others when you had a new thought that most times wouldn't correlate with the conversation they were having. You had fun being with your brothers and spending as much time with them as possible when they were home.

When the triplets got back home to Boston, they asked if you wanted to be in the next car video since some fans were begging them to have you back on the channel. You were hesitant since the hate towards you had increased since the last time you made an appearance, but eventually you agreed since you had missed your brothers so much and you knew it made them happy to have you involved too.

This car video you made sure to be quieter, not talk over the others, and just observe them. You didn't want to get more hate than you had already got just by being near them, even though you were their sister. You sat in the back seat next to Nick, picking at your lips, fidgeting, and only talking when they directed a question to you.

After the video was posted your brothers saw the comments about how quiet you were and asked you about it, saying how much they care about you and not to read the hate comments. There were so many sad edits, rumors, and comments being spread around the internet so quickly you didn't think it was possible.

Your brothers posted about the hate asking that the fans stopped sending it, they talked about how much they love you and don't want to see you hurting just because some fans couldn't handle the fact their sister was in a video with them. And while they all posted something, Nick posted the most and didn't hold back from speaking his mind.

About a month or two after your brothers returned to Boston, you joined in on another car video but this time you were fully yourself, not caring about the comments since you had promised your brothers you wouldn't look at them.

OPINIONS ON KAIDAN EE/IF???

My honest reaction:

I haven't experienced and thus won't talk about the versions of EE and IF that are now separate mods from each other. I don't know anything about that.

if they're better now yayyy but this is about pre-separation

I should preface this with the fact that I've played through Skyrim 3 times with different stages of Kaidan EE/IF:

The initial Dawnguard + fixes/miscs mod

Kaidan EE/IF versions before extensive faction/NPC dialogue for Kaidan

EE/IF w/ NPC Dialogue (AKA Fratpack)

I was also part of the two different discords that were purged and created during these intervals. i don't even know if there is a discord currently?

anyway, that is to say that I have experienced the mod and it's behind-the-scenes progress, extensively so I have a pretty good idea of what I liked and didn't like

That being said, I will introduce probably my biggest problems with it: Tonal whiplash

Okay, well the most common complaint is ofc that a lot of the writing is out of character - and I agree. But it's not just ooc on paper, it's his voice too. I swear, it is very jarring hearing hushed, mild og Kaidan 2 voicelines, and then being deafened by EE Kaidan SCREAMING in my ear ALL.THE.TIME. (like... why are you yelling at me rn jeez)

Seriously. I'm not sure why they didn't just re-record everything from the original mod instead of adding more and more contradicting lines on top of the originals. It definitely could have been a standalone mod, and sometimes it almost feels like it is - because he is just so different.

My most infamous moment in my last playthrough with him happened after we defeated the dragon at Kynesgrove. His og Kaidan 2 dialogue played first, in it he shows interest and is cordial about Delphine ("I wouldn't mind prodding her mind" or whatver dialogue), THEN immediately after his Kaidan EE/IF dialogue will play, in which he walks up to Delphine and STARTS YELLING AT HER AND INSULTING HER - like they argue for quite a bit wtf. And it's like, listen, I have my thoughts about Delphine, but whether or not it was okay to yell at her isn't the problem. It would be fine - IF he hadn't just calmly told me he thought she was okay.

It is sooo confusing how he contradicts himself :(

I mean, yeah, fragments of who he is are still there, I can tell it's Kaidan, but he's warped to fit a different character. Like a con-artist Kaidan.

Anyway, besides the contradictions, it also feels out of character because of his established backstory.

Let's go over it: He's an orphan, lost his only connection to his family(his guardian) to drugs, fell into substances himself, joined a violent cult, had to escape said cult, came clean from his addictions, has been traveling Tamriel bounty-hunting, got brutally attacked by the Thalmor, rescued by mere chance. Do you honestly mean to tell me this man would be yelling, pissing, drinking, lewding, and joking his ass off?? After all that???? NO - or maybe not these levels of extreme. (maybe some other dude might, but Kaidan's characterization insists he is a brooding, keeps-to-himself man, even though he never acts like it anymore)

That man should be tired, and he did feel like he was tired in the original. He was more brooding then than he is now, usually silent, but could still have an edge of comedy/wittiness, he was smart, he had been through a lot!

In that regard, EE/IF Kaidan felt like... we are experiencing Kaidan 10 years in the past - like a Kaidan in his early 20s when he was still a drunkard low-key terrible person. He is just so energetic, always yapping - GOD he talks a lot now. ugh but most of the time it wasn't about anything, it was either inside-jokes, meta jokes, and only occasionally did we get things that added to the experience.

For example, I think most of us who have played Kaidan 2 remember at least one specific line he has said while exploring. What comes to mind for me is either "Can you smell the magicka in the air too? Smells like a rainless thunderstorm." or "Watch for the mammoth with the carvings on their tusks, that's how the giants mark their herd." Alright, both pretty nice small talk for characterization (he IS smart) and worldbuilding.

Tbh i can't really remember any iconic lines from the additions of EE/IF Kaidan... the only two lines that stood out for me were: the "elevenses" line from the clip above (started bumping into him every time he was about to say this so he would stfu... total tonal dissonance), and one he said while I looted Lucky Lorenz ("poor sod wasn't as lucky as his namesake would have you believe!") kai HOW do you know this man, and his nickname, who told you that??? (idc about it that much but its like the only other added line i remember)

I thought that maybe his ooc-iness might have been caused due to the collaborative approach of the mod, I think the mod authors created their own perfect Kaidan - and that's good for them! It takes a shit ton of work (Ik cuz i was there!!) But I think the original essence was lost with each addition. It might have been lack of direction for the voice acting too, a lot of the lines might have hit better if they weren't borderline screamed.

Okay, at some point while playing I got so tired of his constant himbo chit-chatter that I tried tuning him out and bringing other npcs from vanilla skyrim as followers. Problem: even without kaidan on your party, everything starts being about kaidan. Because the extension made it so that Kaidan either has history with/character interactions and development with different NPCs from the base game.

The main poor sods that traveled with me:

Erik the Slayer: Apparently was Kaidan's childhood friend, got inspired by Kaidan to become an adventurer. Least egregious in my opinion, they say sweet things to each other. I swear, Kaidan yells more at me than he ever did at Erik.

The Companions: dumb, dumber, and dumbest basically.. This part of EE/IF was also known as "The Fratpack" and y e a h they pretty much had Vilkas, Kaidan, and Farkas acting like immature frat boys all the time. Just,, absulutely taking away all the maturity out of these GROWN ASS MEN. im sorry, i guess i dont get the appeal. I liked it when they didn't behave like teens (Aela im so sorry, you deserved better than being part of this)

Lydia: All she does is simp for him, ALL.THE.TIME. You think she's about to have a meaningful thing to say? nope, she's checking out Kaidan's ass. Think she'll have a deep convo with another npc about one another? nope! she wants them to tell her all about Kaidan. Both the Companions and Erik will either talk down to her or have to deal with her thirst for Kaidan. i had to start leaving her home.

They also suffered from the same tonal whiplash as Kaidan, unfortunately

additionally, the mod added an "early flirt switch" - you could basically toggle Kaidan to start showing romantic affection for the Dragonborn before the amulet of mara., the interactions were good on paper, but everytime he stammered and stumbled over his words it was written in such an unnatural way... pls people don't talk like fanfics lol !!!

I did like that he gave me flowers, my inventory got full of them - but then he noticed how many flowers I had in my inventory and judged me for "picking everything i see" ugh dude you gave them to me, but also even if you hadnt... mind your business lol

Another addition was a feature that basically made it so NPCs could potentially throw flirtatious comments at Kaidan and the Dragonborn (Bishop flashbacks😨)

You can't do anything to defend Kaidan from those comments, but he WILL take it upon himself to defend your honor infront of any men, women, jarls, or criminals that even so much as find you attractive (THIS INCLUDES FARKAS AND VILKAS BTW :( ) by being rude, forthcoming, AND violent. so yea, you can guess the target audience

speaking of which, he definitely comes on too strong on you once you start the romance, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I specifically picked the "go slow" option for the romance, and the next day or two it was him constantly complaining about having to go slow under his breath, how he wanted to do anything but slow rn... and like just, wow. :/ yikeees lmao

Maybe this is the result of "i can fix him" romance ideals? im sorry but I liked him when he was down to earth

Bonus? He comes with a campsite now, which has to be magic because its ginormous and he somehow lugs it around despite it also coming with a whole ass furnace (fine fine i'll hold my disbelief)

anyway I do like it, its basically a player house you can take anywhere (so long as kai is with you ig) also you can have a cat in there

I like that there is an MCM, I like that the MCM lets you get through the quest stages in case you get stuck

I like that he can guide you places, usually he gets stuck in a tree or rock but its the thought that counts

I think if the mod had continued in the vein as its original iteration when it was just audio/bug fixes and included these qol features it would have been better than it is now.

But it seems maybe i'm just not the target audience, and as a young woman I'm really confused as who the target audience is 😓

More Denlon Thoughts

From finally posting my comparison down below about the Denlon's and John, it made me spiral even more into them.

I have said it there above and I'll say it again- Jeff's test in my eyes accounted the fact his grief would slow him down. John wouldn't have of wanted him to be able to speed through it, especially due to the fact he's getting improv brain surgery. There was a bit of a reliance on the fact that Jeff wouldn't complete his test like, halfway through Lynn's. Which, I believe sometimes the fandom doesn't think about? Yes he's, ''Slow Ass Motherfuckin Jeff.'' However, if he wasn't Saw 3 would've been way shorter- Like imagine he showed up before Amanda was having her full blown breakdown? And or mid brain surgery. Another thing I mentioned is the fact that in comparison, Lynn is handling her test much better than her husband... And in turn this actually makes him seem even MORE slow than before. What we have to think about here is though, Lynn was not dubbed the ''best'' in regards to her medical pursuits for no reason. The playing field is working way more with her, the biggest stress and issue Lynn faces whilst going through her test is Amanda. Otherwise, if you took that factor out? Yes she may be using shit like a power drill but Lynn is a fucking amazing doctor. We get to see this even before she was kidnapped because it can be said she should've been there sooner, but when she helped that patient in the hospital she literally stabilised him in almost a minute flat whilst disregarding the other doctors inputs.

Lynn's test doesn't have her constantly facing her own grief and in comparison to Jeff? We don't know whether or not she even holds a shred of need for vengeance like he does. The most we know about the impact it has had on her, is she's now addicted to anti-depressants, neglects Corbett and her marriage is so fractured she's having an affair. One thing I'll hone on in here is the child neglect... We don't get to see the way Lynn does that as much as we do Jeff. The assumption is her long work hours and being out well... Having that affair! But also how active would Lynn have been in her children's lives even prior to Dylan's death? She to me is the main ''breadwinner'' let's say and Jeff is more so the one who is regularly looking after the children, because Lynn is a literal brain surgeon where generally surgery can last from 3-5 hours to even 5-7! How much did her role as a parent change when Dylan died in regards to how active she is in Corbett's life?

Shuffling back to the games- It's also such an interesting concept to think of Lynn going through Jeff's test, I stated this before in my previous post but it's still an ever running thought for me. Jigsaw tests tend to always be specifically designed for the person within them- In the Denlon's case they're being tested for almost the exact same reason... They are husband and wife after all. So although I don't think that means oh yeah they can be inter switched! Everything is still very close to home for the both of them. Like if Lynn was face to face with Timothy Young the way Jeff was, that is the man who killed her son. Mistake or not. It's whether or not she can or wants to forgive. Lynn in theory and I guess also in practice really, is good at detaching her emotions from what is at hand. Does she like John? No- But will she ignore that in favour of living? Yes! The same way possibly in her career she has had to save the lives of people morally she doesn't agree with. However, as previously mentioned- This is so much more closer to home. So does that all go out the window for her? We just don't know.

Well, wild thing to start off with, threesomes would be interesting if you manage to survive. And I doubt you could. Phaestro and Dionel are quite similar in some regards, but while Dionel is chill and social, Phaestro is more closed off and doesn't speak to many people except for when he tries to "Hallucinations be upon ye" an innocent person. You'd have to keep him on a metaphorical leash.

You see, I don't think they'd show OUTRIGHT agression. Dionel isn't the type and Phaestro is more the type to yap and monologue endlessly at someone, just talking at them. For your sake I think Dionel would take it but would complain when Mr. Pesto is out of earshot. If Phaestro tried to fight Dionel he'd brush him off. Phaestro is trigger happy with his magic so Dionel miiight have to pull you out of a daze at times. It might escalate to threats from Dionel. They'll never be shit like "I'll rip out your throat", they're way more subtle, again, he's a master of passive aggression. Truly an inspiration to mothers everywhere.

Both would always ask why you even like the other. If you tell them they're alike, you better prepare for a rant for why they're TOTALLLLYYYYYY different and like not at all similar, nah, for sure not similar...

If it's any other combination... oh boy. If it's Scarlita and mf Berial they'll be chasing each other like Tom and Jerry, that one would be near impossible to handle. One is a jester from the depths of the abyss and another a robot from the heavens- neither understand jack squat about humanity unlike the hunk duo. Being around them is like stepping into another world. Despite being "good" Scarlita is cold, and Berial is warmer and "evil". They balance each other out and... make each other so, so much worse? I don't think it's impossible for them to get along. They could form a kind of frenemies thing. I can see it.

Same thing with Reinier and Talene. Shit's gonna get realllyyy interesting. They have their strong values in common. Problem is those values are opposite. They view everything through strange eyes you can't quite parse, one striving for good as in purity, acceptance, light, the other striving for his version of good- a very twisted one at that, one that destroys to rebuild a perfect version of reality. Both realities are frankly impossible and Reinier and Talene are both perfectionists in their own ways. One is the praise kink and the other is the degradation kink. The angel and devil on your shoulder. Here you have true, deep hate between them. And you're the only thing they can agree on... eh, mostly, because they treat you completely differently even though you mean a lot to both.

In short, it'd be highly interesting and not out of the realm of possibility. Dionel & Phaestro- chill, most likely to tolerate each other, Scarlita & Berial- chaotic frenemies, Reinier & Talene- DEATH DEATH WAR, NOPE.

9. darl+ing: i have nothing against this song, honestly it's objectively one of the better all english tracks by seventeen and the industry as a whole from a lyrical perspective. the music video is beautiful and i am very happy that the line distribution is more even than most. however, compared to the rest of the album, it doesn't do a whole lot for me. i no longer skip it when it comes on and i love to sing along to it, though.

8. IF you leave me: i am commonly biased against slower songs like this regardless of what language they're in when compared to more uptempo tracks in an artist's discography. this is simply because it is rarer for me to be in the mood to solely listen to these types of songs. as a standalone number, i love it. it brings a tear to my eye. i particularly love the call and response between mingyu and vernon as well as everything wonwoo and s.coups do throughout the song.

7. domino: this song is the epitome of shinggi banggi bboong bboong banggi (iykyk). i don't have a strong opinion on this track. i like it. the instrumentals tickle my brain. however, it doesn't particularly stand out when compared to the rest of the album. woozi and bumzu delivered strongly, though.

6. 'bout you: this and domino could honestly be interchangeable. dino's rap FUCKS like goddamn. the energy is very cute and it just makes me smile. beyond that, it's pretty solid B tier.

5. hot: welcome to the music video that makes my heart stop every time i watch it. if i really dig an album, the title track usually falls somewhere in the middle of my ranking, so this isn't out of the ordinary. i remember staying up after a monsta x concert for this release, so a plethora of good memories all around. the styling and concept were chef's kiss, seungkwan and dk are obviously serving high in the sky vocal CUNT, and i basically have this song memorized, so overall a VERY good number.

4. march: okay... i'll admit, i'm very biased towards the china line, and they went off in this song. but i also remember hoshi saying that this would be his intro as he entered the ring at a cage match and ever since then i've really enjoyed it. rock is one of my favorite genres, and for that reason, this song goes hard.

3. don quixote: this is a song that ALSO has some pretty slayful china line moments, however, the real standout is... you guessed it: MY HANDS UP! I KEEP 'EM HIGH! that whole section has such high energy (the whole song does, really) and wonwoo's bridge moment is also SO satisfying. i just wanna feel the vibes too, guys.

2. ash: i honestly surprised myself with how high i placed this in my initial ranking. when the album first released, i didn't really *get* ash, but i'll be damned if i don't see the vision now. vernon really pulled up on us wacks with a mac fully loaded in this one, and it's just very sexy. they served at mama this year largely for this reason, and it's always dino time in my heart

and the best track on face the sun issssss:

shadow: i'm a sentimental little shit at heart, and my journey of self love is very well-reflected in shadow. i took WAY too long after the album came out and having this song on my playlist for like a year to look up the lyrics. i originally thought it was about commitment and loyalty and all that jazz, but noooooooooope. the true message somehow made me love this track even more. and, obviously, s.coups and mingyu looking and sounding so delicious at the bridge helped a great deal too. ;)

okay, so I was yapping with my bestie(@inthepeachtree ), and now I'm sharing my yap session about the curtis brothers like post book. this is like super angst and does mention like struggles with food and mental health and stuff similar, so keep that in mind! this is also my opinion, so if things are ooc character, etc, I apologize :) I know you all are loved mwah<3

imagine the utter anxiety darry and probably soda have after the events.

I feel like darry wouldn't be able to sleep even though pony was back home and safe. like he would try his hardest to sleep but is tossi.g and turning until late Into the night. he's *exhausted* but his mind is screaming that pony is gone, having run away and no whwre to be found( worse if his mind was screaming pony was the one who died in the fire not Johnny and that it was all his fault) and that anxiety goes to soda who he think joined pony in running away and that now he was utterly alone which was his *worst* fear because what is he ment to do now that the two people he was living for left him? so eventually he gets up and paces around his room or makes his way out of his room and starts cleaning etc because he doesn't

a) want to worry his brothers because he's the oldest, and they don't need to have the burden of what he think he is. and b) his brothers needed all the rest they could get, especially if Pony's nightmares got *so* much worse. so he does anything to keep his mind from thinking the absolute worst. he eventually either gives up and checks on his brothers who were in their bed each hugging eachother ( he feels a ping of hurt knowing that he would never have the relationship soda and pony have but he's learned to accept it.) after checking they were in fact safe ans okay he eventually falls asleep but that shit wears him down. NOT TO MENTION the guilt he feels much about dally and Johnny. like musical him probably constantly thinks about him and days fight and he agrees with every dally says and he feels utterly guilty bc if it weren't for him they would be alive ans same goes for his parents. like that man is *struggling, but he keeps working. he also is so afraid of hurting his brothers again and is fighting with himself everytime he gets angry but on a happy note after a while his relationship with pony does get better, slowly but day by day they start to build a better relationship. bonus points if the curtia brothers find darry one night stress cleaning and end up like taking about everything and their emotions then having a cuddle session bc I stand for it. relationship

now onto soda and pony

with soda he probably is somewhat similar with needing to check that pony is safe and okay. I'm still like analysisimg soda so his might not be as detailed yk

but like, he's the type of person to like feel others' emotions, which is utterly exhausting, especially with Pony having these horrible nightmares, and he *feels* everything pony is feeling. he has had so many nights where Pony would be asleep, and he just breaks down sobbing because he can't stand to see his little brother like this. (DONT GET ME STARTED WHEN PONY WAS SICK AND IM THAT DELIOUS STATE BC DARRY AND AODA WERE GOING THROUGHT IT AND I WILL YAP ABT IT ) but soda is similar to darry about not wanting pony to worry about him because his brother had already been through so much and needs to focus on healing. he allows himself to open up to darry because he knows that his brother feels the same way, and he knows darry would rather die before ever admitting that he isn't okay. soda has found darry practically in tears in the middle of the night, trying not to wake his brothers. soda has always been better with emotions, but he's struggling with the deaths of everyone on top of Pony's horrible mental state. he feels guilty about the small part of him that still feels some anger towards darry for hurting pony but he also feels the utter pain darry feels about hurtimg pony(soda had run after pony but couldn't catch him and darry had felt so sick of himself he threw up whatever dinner he had. he also then proceeded to try to scrub his hand clean ~~no matter what he did his actions could never be undone~~) anyways like a said group cuddle session after the three of them all talk about how they feel bc God knows they need that.

now with ponyboy everything u said(this was a lot, and they can reply with what they said if they want!). It definitely is true in my mind. like he feels like everything was/is his fault and probably is near a mental breakdown/has one because they can't be gone. *they just can't* because that means death is following him and that means his brothers or two bit, ace(she is part of the gang bc I say so and I love her), he'll even steve are next ans he's not sure if he could live knowing they cpuld/will die. he struggles with food and basic needs for a while because windxcile had fuxked with him so badly. his brother worked with him a lot about trying to get him back to a healthy place both mentally and physically. it took a while but he was finally able to eat a full meal without feeling sick after a few months and darry and soda were *so proud* like soda was close to tears and so was darry. darry also struggled with food because he a)thought all the food should go to his brothers and not him bc he could live without it and b) during the time pony was going he thought why should he eat when pony couldn't? with every mistake him(darry) and pony constantly like punish themselves for the smallest things and soda tries his best to teach them that it's okay to make mistakes and tat they don't need to punish themselves.

also, I can yap about the week. Pony was gone with soda and darry bc darry was low-key, giving me not doing well vibes to me, but I can definitely go I to that.

again I'm still working on understanding ever character in the book but these are just my thoughts. if you have any comments or things to add on definitely lmk because I love to talk! love you all and lmk if you want to yap some more!!

Good point, but he also made friends with the ants before he knew Kite was dead. But geez, Gon desperately trying to get Killua to remember him mixed with Killua's now very skittish personality...although I do wonder when this would have happened? I guess the first thought that comes to mind would be when Killua almost bleeds to death, but there's several places in the arc you could potentially make it. No matter what though, this is so heartbreaking. Trying to get Kite AND Killua back and feeling so alone...part of me wants to explore it further and the other part wants it as far away from me as possible.

As for the Zoldycks, Alluka was locked up when she was pretty young and they were scared of her because they couldn't control her. They spent years with Killua, and although I don't like the Zoldycks, they would be absolutely heartbroken to realize that Killua was dead. Illumi is rather obsessive about Killua so I think that would seriously affect him (he'd still probably try to control Killua), but I don't see them casting him out. But Gon would fight like hell so they wouldn't take him away. He's not letting them hurt him again, not ever.

What hurts more is that while I imagine Killua does his best in the Ant Gon AU to accept him as a new person (Apo), I feel like Gon wouldn't be able to handle that. His name IS Killua, they used to be best friends, why can't he remember?! He tries to be patient, but he's just so hurt and overwhelmed by everything that's happened. No matter what though, he's not leaving Killua's side again. He won't fail him again, and he'll get his memories back at any cost. There has to be a way, and he won't stop until he's whole again. Or maybe if he changes like Killua did, they can be together again...(oh god, imagining them both as ants together...)

...damn, this hurts. Why would you do this to us? XD

Gon did befriend Meleon before learning Kite is dead but I still can't personally see him targeting ants as a whole cause he always treated them as individuals, being angry when they treated their friends as trash even before Kite's death and choosing to trust Meleon when he was already full of rage from seeing Kite's broken body. I think (?) Melon even mentioned that when he saw Gon, he saw a 'beast' in him.

He also never blames the king/queen or another ant when Kite did die, it's just Pitou, (which split to himself too since Pitou shows compassion and stop being an 'easy' target for gon's hate) from start to finish (sorry for the side track I know it was a minimal thing of your ask but I get too excited when I talk about CA Gon, I will yap about my boy!! yufgytfdyt)

I'll admit I didn't have a specific timeline in mind of when Killua was turned (again the lore is not in my hands) but your idea of him being transformed during the cave breaks my heart. It would have to be an au where the queen somehow didn't die (maybe the king wasn't born prematurily? idk), since only she can birth chimera ants from what I remember, but AUs are all about bending canon and the mental image of Gon never getting the phone call from Killua and slowly realizing people are acting as if he is already dead so he explodes and goes to search for him make me sad... (So i am sharing cause i must spread my pain)

man... I don't even want to think about Gon's mental state, it makes me too sad... I will lose my whimsy and get too focused on this au..

Yes, I agree about the zoldycks! I don't think they would lock up, disown, or ignore ant!killua, they are very tuned to family and indeed love him lots (twisted as said love is), I just don't think they would still want to make him the heir, cause even outside the whole 'non human' thing, Killua is irreparably anxious now. This is not a ploy to try to control him and make him leave Gon to die and become an assassin, is just who he is, and someone that get anxious in the face of power/the unknown is a weakness even to an assassin in big doses. But mentioning Illumi and the family heartbreak does make me realize something! The zolfyck would also want to bring his memory back, and considering the needle, if anyone would be able to get his memories back it would be Illumi. Gon love can make him remember flashes and vague memories (I adore how love make nen do incredible feats in this manga) but getting his whole life forcefully and violently back from start to finish? Illumi is the answer. And he will try to control him too, likely better since he now have both manipulation nen and Killua's memories to use against Ant!Killua.

I really like the idea Gon can't adapt to 'Killua' no longer being Killua. Cause for as sweet as he can be Gon is self-centered as hell so is very on brand, and to make things even worse than the Killua with Apo scenario, ant!Killua (who I don't have a name for so you can come up with one Edit: his name is Lua) is quick to give up, he doesn't want to get into a big argument and make Gon upset and Gon is already very sad (note: Ant!Killua just assumed saying gon is wrong about this would lead to an argument, so in practice they barely reach the talking stage, which just make gon fully confident Killua also wants to be Killua again, so he is more reckless about it and make killua hate it more but gon is doing it for him, and is an endless circle someone pls help them-)

Hey there! Read your fanfic "Second Chances", and can I say that I'm LOVING it so far!

Kinda curious tho; how would Mason and Jean react if, sometime after Jean and MC become "official", the happy couple realize they're expecting? How would they further react after it's revealed Jean and MC are expecting twins (a boy and a girl)? I feel like Mason would make an AWESOME big brother!

Hi anon!! <3 I'm so glad you love Second Chances, hehe. It's been my absolute favorite work so far.

Not a spoiler because OBVIOUSLY Jean and reader will be official *at some point,* but I think Jean would be absolutely thrilled to find out that reader is expecting! He's always wanted a big family, so when he and Mikasa got divorced, he thought it'd just be Mason and he'd have to be content with one kid - so the reality that he gets to expand his family with you would def be enough to make this full grown man cry. After so much heart ache (for both reader and Jean), it'd be a welcome change. He never anticipated having a blended family, but he takes it in stride and is excited for a future with you, Mason and your children together. As for Mason, hmmm, I think it'd depend on how old he was, you know?? If he's still pretty young, like under 10, I think he might be a little confused (blended families being complicated and all), but excited to have a younger sibling, especially since so many of his classmates have siblings. He might even ask Jean where the baby is coming from, which is enough to make his poor father spiral into a full blown panic. If Mason was older, my guess is that he might struggle with it a little more - maybe he'll fear that the new baby will take up all of Jean's time, that he'll be pushed to the side and forgotten, that Jean's just starting a new family without him, etc. But! I think once the baby (or babies) are here, I think he'd come around to it and be excited to be an older brother and show the little ones how cool the world is. Jean and reader would definitely need to give Mason some extra love and assurance in this case!

As for twins, I think at first Jean would be soooo excited, especially since again, he wants a big family. But then once the news settles in and he learns about how twins can cause birthing complications, he's freaking out a little bit, doing research on what can go wrong and how to make a pregnancy with twins easier on you - the man would literally be on his hands and knees doing anything and everything for you. Armin and Annie, who in my fic are actually expecting twins, would have to talk to him to calm him down, tell them about their experience, how everything will be okay, that he can't control everything, but here are some things that worked for them. Jean is lucky to have such good friends! Oh and of course he'd be thrilled to have a boy and a girl, especially a girl because I head canon that Jean is a hardcore girl dad at heart - even though he's a boy dad in this fic lol. I don't think Mason's reaction for twins would be a whole lot different than the above paragraph, but he'd definitely be excited to have a brother to play with, maybe he's a little less sure about having *a girl* in the house, but either way, I agree that he'd be the sweetest older brother once he came around to the idea!

idk if you've planned this far, but how do the three come about? any changes to their friend groups/love life?

Don't worry anon, I've got you covered — I'm all the way up to the broken code in plans >:3

The Three in this au are actually FawnHawk (LeafHawk / Leafpool and Hawkfrost) kits!!

There are a few changes here and there, but here's the main points that their heritage change involves:

• Since they aren't Crowfeather's kits, Crowfeather's relevance is mostly erased in this au. Breezepelt still exists, but he isn't related to the three in any way. (Harespring is actually the main Windclan focus here for... reasons... tehee.)

• For Jayfeather, not much changes! He is still blind. He originally is placed to be a Guide's apprentice (a new role that I introduced in this au, currently taken by Snowdrift, who is Snowkit in canon), but actually chooses to become a medicine cat rather than be forced into it like in canon. He is however still barred from being a warrior for that reason, but the med cat position is more voluntary and a reclamation of his own autonomy where the guide position for him takes the place of him being forced to be a medcat here. There's also no time travel shenanigans going on — Half Moon makes her own present day appearance as a follower of Midnight !

• Lionblaze is a Little Stupid. Since the three actually are related to Tigerstar in this au through Hawkfrost, he's trained in the Dark Forest from early on. Especially with his power still being that he can't be hurt — Tigerstar takes a lot of advantage of this. He tries to teach a lot of the things he taught Hawkfrost (mostly bigoted things, like that disabled members of the clan are just extra mouths to feed, that she-cats don't belong in positions of power, etc. Tigerstar here is very much misogynistic and overall just bigoted on everything way more overtly than in canon). And for a while, it works on Lionblaze, until he says something and makes a comment so overtly stupid that Hollyleaf and Jayfeather both talk some sense into him. He grows and learns and changes!

• Hollyleaf is a bit of an interesting case here. Because of Jayfeather's training jumping around, she's allowed to train as a medicine cat for much longer, even being close to receiving her full name when she's booted from the den so Jaypaw can be trained. She's bitter about it, but she understands her brother wanting to choose his own destiny — and she doesn't mind the life of a warrior, anyway. She falls in love with Cinderheart, and this causes a bit of a rift between her and Lionblaze(who likes Cinder aswell), which eventually causes the argument where Lionblaze says something so out of pocket about their relationship that Jay and Holly take him aside. Afterwards though, Lion becomes a lot more understanding and supportive, and a better ally to the both of of them!

• Before their secret is revealed (fire scene - which is also changed a lot), Hollyleaf and Cinderheart want to have kits — and after Lionblaze's change, they ask him to be the surrogate father for their kits. And he agrees happily because he only wants the best for his sister 🥺. But while Cinderheart is expecting, the fire scene happens, and Hollyleaf is presumed dead... so Lionblaze helps Cinderheart raise the kits in Hollyleaf's memory. (In this au, Hollytuft is so spoiled. It's a little ridiculous) They become adjacent to coparents to the kits, and make sure they always know of their late mother Hollyleaf, which makes it a more joyful reunion when Hollyleaf comes back to the clans in oots!!

• Hollyleaf doesn't die in the Great Battle in this AU — she leaves the clans impulsively after its conclusion. (The great battle is also extremely different.. ive yapped too much on this post though. starclan's behaviour in this au is for another time)

• In this au, Jayfeather is transneutral and aroacespec (he/it), Hollyleaf is a futch lesbian (she/her), and Lionblaze is ... cishet ....... umm......

• Additionally for context's sake, Cinderheart is genderfluid and bisexual (she/they) !!

Oh my gosh sorry for yapping so much LOL I'm just really particularly fond of the three in this au 😭😭😭😭💜💜💜 i hope you enjoy hearing about them regardless!!

Hii again! I'm the anon who rambled about Andras and sorry! I just saw how long my ask came out and I would like to blame the fact that I was sleep-deprived, but that would be a half-truth, because I tend to yap when I'm really passionate about something ahahaha and YES! I completaly agree! Feyre literally never mention him again, like he was never important (as if his life wasn't, even though it changed hers completaly) and she never think of him, how SJM never makes him appear even as a thought of one (the first dare I say) of the lives that Feyre took. And yes it's a nice hc (a very angsty one for sure) to think how things could've gone with Feyre and Tamlin, but like you said thats not how canon went and it's really something I will always be bitter about, because how it did Tamlin (and Lucien! And their relationship!) dirty and as I said: I will never forget nor forgive, I'm sorry.

Sometimes it seems as SJM has a plot twist ready or is building up to reveal how everything was a plan of Rhysand or something more sinister, but I really don't expect anything from her, like the bar is not only low, but it's nonexistent basically. Aaaand, thank you for your kind reply! If it's not a bother I would like to come back sometimes to share some rants/opinions! Thank you again and sorry for this new ask! Yes! To all of this! I love it!

When I finished Silver Flames J was convinced Sarah had to be doing something with Tamlin and the SC because there was too much a trail for healing/redemption for her not to utilise it. But when I go back and read passages, it more or less just looks like SJM did a shit job of writing an actual abusive relationship rather than laying out a path for Tamlin to be redeemed. It seems to me she sees nothing wrong at all with Rhysand or the IC, and any form of redemption has to end with the villainised person grovelling for forgiveness which honestly sickens me.

Tamlin and as you said Lucien and their relationship and Andras were all done so so dirty. I personally headcanon that Spring has a statue of Andras and the gardens of spring are all flowers that were planted in honour of the sentries that died for their lands. (Which is also a sorta angsty headcanon as when Spring is left for dead and its just Tamlin, the statue and the flowers he’s a “high lord of a graveyard” but thats a plot point for my fic as well)

Andras deserved to be honoured rightfully and he never was. SJM’s writing pisses me off so much.
