Reminds me of when I got my grandpa to play Mario Kart 64 on the N64 back in the early 2000s. He was around 70 at the time. It’s always kind of charming to see older people play video games.

back when I was a kid and super smash bros melee was still the big thing, my uncle used to play with me all the time haha he didn’t know how to play at all either and always chose marth and because of that he just called the game “i’m marth” he would come back from work and say “let’s play i’m marth”

Jetter Mars Geocities Fansite Pt.1

Last night I decide to browse around the Jetter Mars tag as the The Astro Boy tag is currently filled with j-pop/k-pop . One super old post mentioned an Jetter Mars fansite that was deactvated a few years back. I recalled finding a site with a link and sure enough an Astro Boy Online thread popped up in my history and in it was a link to the site.

It was a Geocities site, a now closed web hosting service. However, thanks to The Wayback Machine, the at least 98% of the site was preserved. Being just a simple HTML/CSS site helps a lot. Some pictures are in super low quality and theirs not much I can do about that. It was launched in 2004 and possibly abandoned around 2015 when the the domain was sold later in 2016. GeoCities Japan closed in March 2019.

The site is an Unofficial fan site of Jetter Mars (Also called Jet Marte, Capitan Jet, Menino Bionico, Jet Mars or Bionic Boy depending on the country). It contained not just fanart, news and episode transcripts but also rare pictures of various magazines and merchandise.

I spent my day today saving pictures (Easy) and digging through text and running it through Google Translator for more info (The most time consuming part). Thus, the info I'm posting about could be inaccurate so take it with a grain of salt. If you want to go through the texts and pictures yourself, here you go.

i have trouble caring too much abt my tumblr posts being scraped for ai on a personal level. like, im an astro boy fan. ive seen very dedicated pieces of fanart get 15 notes (would have been 2 if not for our fucking hero @/astroboyart) and then months later get traced and reposted among 83 others by someone claiming they drew it and then nobody notices. this happens every 5 weeks in this fandom. im also a danny phantom fan. ive had mutuals get their art stolen by butch hartman himself and you just KNOW that man is already feeding it into transformative image gen models. this is the risk i take by putting my stuff on the internet and it sucks but its really not any different than it was

I don't know if you'll be able to answer this but it doesn't hurt to try... I saw someone say that in the series (which has not yet been released) of the star boy reboot (which is now being "Thomas Astruc, creator and director of the Miraculous franchise - The Adventures of Ladybug & Cat Noir, is developing a new adaptation for Astro Boy") they said that old characters would appear. do you know if it's true?

Uh, I can't say I've been following the news closely enough to say one way or the other, all I know is that they intend on tackling more modern topics. As for the inclusion of old characters, I would not be surprised if a few of them made a return.

....You know, assuming they ever make it out of development hell lol
