Sweet mother of mercy!
Because it was only £1, I picked up the 4DVD set of the "Marvel Knights" X-Men animation based on the Whedon "Asotnishing X-Men" run, in a local charity shop.
Probably late to the game here, but the animation is just... so... damn... BAD!
I can at least cut the 1960's Marvel Superheroes TV cartoons a lot because of their age and obvious cheapness.
But this is an unholy combination which does no favours to John Cassady's art, adding in an uncanny valley effect which is almost impressively unsettling.
I can't get thought this at ALL, and do not intend to!
Let us never speak of this again

Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men, Episode 465 - Right in the Fabric
In which “Astonishing X-Men” is something of a misnomer; Death has a good look; sometimes you just need a guy who swoops; Miles stops worrying and learns to love Nate Grey; Telekinesis is silly looking; “Wolverine” dies; and nothing really changes.
X-PLAINED:
Astonishing X-Men (miniseries)
Ambience
Nina (again)
Mannites (again)
The third-best way to get out of awkward conversations
The Hulkbuster base
Bastion (again)
Bastion’s worst nightmare
Death (a new one)
Fiddly bits
Cable’s Psimitar
Telekinetic snowboarding
Headcase
Darco
Glub
Beautiful Dreamer
Grace
Totem
Things to do with a severed head
The Changing
The (apparent) death of Wolverine
How to salvage this miniseries
Hypothetical X-crossovers

...I really don't have any words to remark upon the passing of John Cassaday, only 52 years old - except to say that in addition to his rendering of the X-Men and Avengers Unity Squad, two series very largely formative to my taste in comics today, in the brief moment that I was able to interact with him at a con, he was so nice and so patient. I must've fumbled over the trades and issues that I had brought for him to sign, explaining what I loved about his work - and rather than sign and move along, he actually slowed me down. He asked me why I liked this or that, he talked a bit about the behind-the-scenes aspect of it all... it's one of my favorite con memories, and one I'll remember fondly for as long as I love comic books, which will be forever.
R.I.P. John Cassaday - you astonished us.
