During Secondo’s papacy, the ghouls were only let outside at certain times, much like dogs. Two, hour long intervals, once in the morning at 10 AM after breakfast, the second at 6 PM after dinner. More often than not, the ghouls would have to sacrifice this free time outdoors completing their chores, especially if these chores were in the garden, lake, or cemetery. This was another one of Secondo’s cruel entrapments: to refuse the ghouls to complete outdoor chores outside of outside time. And, of course, they would be punished for it if they failed to finish. Secondo’s favorite method of punishment was a spell titled Spiritus Privatio in the Grimoire, which essentially suffocated its victim to near death. Delta knew this all too well; being a water ghoul, it was especially torturous when he has had no prior experience of needing to hold his breath.

Delta was the one subjected to Secondo’s cruelty the most, having such a loose grip on his temper. He found himself collared in the basement multiple times a week, having lashed out at his Papa for one of his disgusting choices, or simply refusing to complete his duties as an act of rebellion. He was not necessarily in the wrong for his behavior, and Omega knew this, but the quintessence ghoul also knew that it was safer to stay silent. This moral disagreement between them sparked many fights, verbal and physical, tearing them apart from each other. The last time they embraced each other was the day Earth was banished. Earth and Delta were as thick as thieves, involved in each other’s lives almost to a fault.

One of the first things Terzo graciously granted the ghouls was two entire days off a week. Of course, they could not all have a day off at the same time apart from holidays that the ministry celebrated, which was also another gift from Terzo. He wanted to treat his ghouls and make them more comfortable, but work still needed to be done.

It was the second Wednesday of October, and a soft wind nipped at Delta’s cheeks. Wind bothered him more than his companion, Pebble, due to the fact that his skin was constantly producing a layer of water to keep it moist. Pebble was unaffected by pretty much any type of weather. Wednesdays were theirs and Alpha’s day of work, Alpha being assigned the task of washing dishes after mealtimes and Delta being assigned to clean the lake of any litter. Pebble had already finished his chores, which was tidying the many office and conference rooms of the ministry, so he tagged along with his friend.

“I shouldn’t have to do this in October,” Delta complained as they walked towards the lake, “it is too cold. I want to do the dishes.”

“If you told him that he might let you.” Pebble said. “I like the lake, I can do this by myself. Why don’t you-“

”But you’re freezing.”

“I’m fine.”

The two made it to the dock, which Alpha had recently repaired a broken plank of. It was a completely different color than the rest of the muted brown wood, the new plank being almost merlot. Pebble immediately went for the trash can, tugging on the plastic bag. Delta picked up some litter further out on the dock, looking out at the gentle waves beneath the graying sky.

It was moments like these that made the water ghoul falter. He was suddenly thrusted back in time, sitting down at the edge of the dock some years ago, before Secondo. His head laid on the shoulder of Earth, tails intertwined from behind them, watching contently as the larger ghoul tossed dried corn out to the ducks that seemed to have indefinitely migrated recently.

”You can’t give ducks bread,” Earth would tell him every time they spent their time together like this, “it is bad for them.”

And Delta loved to hear it. He loved to hear Earth’s random tidbits of information, even when he had heard it plenty. Perhaps it was the way Earth would explain things to him without belittling and degrading him, making him feel intelligent for asking questions rather than stupid for not knowing the answers. Aero constantly made a show of how smart he was, only caring to speak to the other ghouls when it could prove his intellect. Alpha thought more with his emotions, something Delta could relate to, yet did not want to be part of. Omega was so judgemental, so paranoid about everything, it was impossible to have a conversation with him. Pebble was immature. Not stupid, but blissfully ignorant unless the truth was being dangled right in front of his nose. If Delta was being honest, he did not know what drew him to the ghoul so much. Perhaps it was nothing but the shared element between him and the one he lost.

He snapped out his thoughts as Pebble dragged the bag off of the dock. Delta sighed, looking down for a moment and then turning around to follow Pebble, picking up trash all around the lake. They made it halfway around, not finding much trash, before Pebble seemed to have read Delta's mind.

“Question.” Pebble spoke suddenly, startling Delta.

“Hm?” Delta didn't look at Pebble, continuing to watch his own feet step across the ground peppered with frost.

“What was Earth like?”

Delta's eyes widened beneath his mask, though he was not required to wear it in the ministry anymore. It was out of habit entirely, the shared quirk being the only thing he really had in common with the quintessence ghoul of the pack. His steps slowed in surprise, before returning to his previous pace, clasping his hands together behind his back.

“What do you wanna know that for?” He asked.

“You talk about him a lot,” Pebble said with a shrug of his shoulders, the trash bag thrown over his right one, “it's just weird not being the first earth ghoul when you guys are the first of your elements.”

Delta chuckled dryly, nodding. “Yeah. Earth was… Well I liked him a lot. ‘Til he did what he did, yeah. He was great. Don’t worry, you’re a good earth ghoul, if that’s why you’re thinking of that.”

“What happened?” Pebble tilted his head, looking up at Delta. Delta looked down at him, uncertainty in his eyes.

“What do you mean?” Delta asked. “You don’t know?”

Pebble shook his head. Delta hesitated before speaking, his breath a bit shaky.

“He uh… Did some pretty dumb things, I suppose.”

“Like?” Pebble pushed, lacking the emotional intelligence to understand Delta was uncomfortable. Delta wanted to tell him no, that he didn't want to talk about it. But it felt like the word ‘no’ vanished from his vocabulary when he spoke to Pebble.

“Apparently he made some kind of advancement on Secondo.” Delta sighed, hurt apparent in his now glistening eyes. “Secondo didn't like it. But… I don't understand.” Delta didn't realize he completely stopped walking, becoming enveloped in his thoughts and emotions. He began to raise his voice.

“He never rubbed me the wrong way like that. He was so clear about his relationship with me, at least with the other ghouls. I don't understand, why would he ever cheat on me with fucking Secondo? Someone I hate so much!”

Delta roared a pained growl, swinging his foot forward and kicking a nearby rock into the water in which he internally personified as his former partner. Pebble stood, frozen, watching Delta's meltdown. Delta dropped to crouch as the rock soared through the air, throwing his mask off and burying his face in his webbed hands as he began to sob. It was weeks worth of bottled emotion, Alpha constantly stuffing it in his mind that Earth was nothing to cry over, that Earth was disloyal, a liar, a hypocrite and a fake. Of course, Alpha said these things in a more gentle and empathetic tone, but the message was clear. Yet it did not make it any less confusing, he would never have any closure, any confirmed truth. Unless he went directly to Secondo, which he knew he would never. There would always be that weight in Delta's mind.

Pebble rubbed Delta's back in an attempt to comfort him, having dropped the trash bag and letting the contents spill onto the ground. His friend was more important than chores right now. Delta's skin greedily devoured each tear that streamed down his face, rehydrating his skin in a self sustaining cycle. It was fascinating for Pebble to watch.

“That is just how some people turn out to be,” Pebble offered, though he was not the most empathetic ghoul, “people lie.”

“It is so hard,” Delta choked out, “I don't understand, why would he lie? For Secondo? He was too smart for that!”

“You said Earth tried to sleep with Secondo?”

Delta nodded, clutching at his eternally wet gray hair. Pebble narrowed his eyes in thought.

“Secondo was probably lying then I bet.”

Delta sniffed, wiping his eyes, but his emotion was still very much present in his voice and expression.

“It wasn’t even Secondo who told me! Alpha did!” He gasped, his voice hoarse.

“How did Alpha know?”

“He was on laundry duty and said he walked in on Earth on his fucking knees in front of Secondo.”

“Damn.” Pebble murmured under his breath. He continued to rub Delta's back, his fingers climbing up to caress his damp hair.

“I can imagine how frustrating it is. But I think it’s better not knowing, yeah? At least I’d rather not know than see that.”

Delta nodded under Pebble’s gentle touch, the light scratching of his claws soothing him. His mind was still racing, and he did not necessarily agree with Pebble. Part of him didn't want to know, but the other wanted closure. If only he were a quintessence ghoul, so he could see Alpha’s memories for himself. But he was not. He was a measly water ghoul, face dripping onto the dying grass below him as his own tears overhydrated him.

“Omega-“ Delta choked, pushing himself up and clearing his throat as he pulled himself towards the trash on the ground, “where is Omega? Today, today… Today is Tuesday- no no, Wednesday. Megs is off!”

Delta began scooping the fallen trash into the white plastic bag, the webs between his fingers siding him in the process. Pebble helped, though he continued looking at Delta.

“Huh?”

“I’ll ask Omega to do it,” Delta smiled for once. “And it’s so easy to tell if Megs is lying.”

“You think he will?” Pebble smiled back. Delta shrugged dismissively, picked up the bag, almost dragging Pebble with it as he slung it over his shoulder and began walking urgently back to the building.

Biden on Roll, Shoots Down UFO

LOS ANGELES (OnlineColumnist.com), Feb. 10, 2023.--On a roll from his Feb. 7 State of the Union speech to a joint session of Congress, 80-year-old President Joe Biden ordered the shoot-down of another Unidentified Flying Object [UFO] this time over icy waters in Deadhorse, Alaska on Prudhoe Bay.  Biden was notified of the UFO Thursday morning, deciding, unlike the shoot-down of a 2,000-poind Chinese balloon Friday, Feb. 10, Biden acted decisively ordering the downing of the unmanned aerial vehicle.  Once the Pentagon determined the balloon-like object was unmanned, Biden wasted no time ordering an F-22 from Join Base Elmendorf to take doown the unknown object, about the size of a small car, with a sidewinder missile, the same one used last Saturday Feb. 4.  Biden was rejuvenated by his State of the Union, getting high marks from Democrats, but, more importantly, showed he can still work a crowd at his advanced age.

Last weeks delayed response, letting the Chinese spy balloon drift methodically over Alaska, Canada, Idaho, Montana all the way across the U.S. generated much-deserved criticism, especially with the spy-craft monitoring U.S. nuclear Air Force bases across the continental United States.  Biden said he didn’t want to jeopardize any civilians on the ground, before shooting down the balloon over shallow waters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Biden faced criticism from his GOP colleagues for not acting more decisively, though Democrats pointed out quickly that similar Chinese spy balloons flew into U.S. air space during the Trump administration.  Trump didn’t order a shoot down because the balloon quickly left U.S. air space.  Biden ordered the shoot down today over Deadhorse, Alaska, claiming that the UFO presented a danger at 40,000 feet to commercial air flights.

Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby didn’t have much to report, other than a UFO was shot down over Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.  “All I can say is that it wasn’t flying with any sort of propulsion, so if that is ‘balloon like’—we just don’t enough at this point,” Kirby said.  “It came in, inside our territorial waters, those waters right now are frozen, but inside territorial air space and over territorial waters.  Fighter aircraft assigned to the U.S. Northern Command took down the object with the last hour,” Kirby reported.  No country, including China, has claimed responsibility for what looks like another spy balloon, prompting Biden to shoot first, wait to see whether any recovered debris identifies the country of origin.  Two spy balloons in one week certainly raises eyebrows, even if the Pentagon can’t confirm the nature or origin of the flying object.  “We don’t know who owns this object,” Kirby said.

Like the Chinese spy balloon shot down Feb. 4, the object did not to have any guidance or propulsion.  “It did not appear to have maneuverability capability, “ Kirby said.  “It was virtually at the whim of the wind.” Kirby confirmed that a fighter pilot was up in the sky on Feb. 9, determining the that the balloon-like object had no human on board, before Biden gave the order Friday, 1:45 p.m. to shoot it down.  “We were able to get some fighter aircraft up and around it before the order to shoot it down.  And the pilots’ assessment was that this was not manned,” Kirby said.  “There was a limit to how much they could divine,” including whether the object was booby-trapped with explosives.  Pentagon officials hoped to recover the debris off the ice and determine the nature and origin of the UFO.  Biden’s decision to shoot it down stemmed directly from last week’s delay in taking down the Chinese balloon.

Pentagon officials think last week’s shoot down of the Chinese spy balloon won’t impact U.S.-Chinese relations in the scheme of things.  China reacted harshly to the shoot down, saying the U.S. showed “indiscriminate aggression.”  China insisted that it’s weather balloon posed no threat at all to U.S. national security.  Pentagon officials haven’t yet determined or said publicly what if any national security issues were compromised by the spy-craft that spend six days flying over U.S. nuclear and stealth bomber bases in Montana and Missouri.  No one knows what, if anything, the Chinese got after from the surveillance balloon.  Pentagon officials said the Chinese already monitor U.S. air bases from a network of space-based satellites, not sure they would get more intel from a spy balloon.  Two balloon incidents in one week suggest a correlation between the events.

Biden has a wind at his back following a commanding performance at the State of the Union speech.  If there’s anything to glean from today’s shoot down, Biden has more confidence than ever as he prepares to announce he’s running for reelection in 2024.  Anyone listening to the speech knows that it was a campaign speech, not a typical State of the Union message.  Biden touted his big spending bills that he claims have benefited the U.S. economy, despite the runaway inflation that makes life harder for most working people.  Biden cast himself as a champion of U.S. workers, despite the economic challenges from rising prices.  Shooting down the UFO over Alaska reflects Biden’s new confidence after Tuesday night’s speech. Pentagon officials should know soon the nature and origin of the car-sized balloon.  Shooting it down without hesitation speaks volumes about Biden’s future plans.

The heat on Felucia was unkind. For somebody under a suit of armor, anything so simple as treading became a nightmare, draining them from all energy and hydration in no time.

Despite Aurora's active dislike for hot weather, she put her men first. It was a miracle she had enough supplies, and at many times she feared running out, adding to the risk of danger.

And as Aurora knew, and the clones of unit 99 would find out, the heat made it more difficult to deal with injuries.

It was a simple mission on Felucia. Arrive, walk ten klicks—which, in the heat, felt eternal—disable the remote control systems for the shields on a nearby Separatist operations base, and get out, all via stealth. Doing so was not hard, and the squadron had managed with grace.

And upon exit, a wrong step had triggered an alarm, thus summoning a small legion of battle droids. For the most part, squad 99 had gotten out, having an advantage of half a klick between the droids, until a stray blast hit the torso of the soldier guarding the rear end of the formation.

Aurora had nearly blacked out when she saw Crosshair had taken the blast.

Inhumanly quicker than the initial treading through the jungles of Felucia, they'd gotten Crosshair back to the Marauder. Aurora had patched Crosshair's wound; thankfully, no vital organs were hit, but it did cause hemorraging in the surrounding skin. He'd be in pain for about a day, but he'd also heal quickly.

Twelve hours after the initial treatment of the wound, a tense, quiet moment between the medic and the marksman, it was time for Aurora to perform a rutinary check to make sure the wound hadn't taken any turns for the worse---it was unlikely, but even if Crosshair had been acting like a jerk, she still had to be sure he recovered well.

And it was far more uncomfortable than it had been the first time. Alone inside his bunkroom, Crosshair sat on a simple chair, bare from the upper body as Aurora removed the bandages covering his abdomen, kneeling before him. Every time she tried to make eye contact, he'd look away.

Crosshair would hiss from time to time whenever Aurora disinfected his wound. But even he couldn't keep himself from thinking how gentle her touch was, how she was clearly being careful not to hurt him more. Her job was to fix wounds, an errand that proved painful more often than not, that didn't need justification when her methods caused pain, and yet she was gentle with him.

He was used to Tech performing medical duties with disregard of the injured one’s current state, and did what had to be done. Other times, Crosshair had opted to patch up his own wounds, often a result of his ego.

He'd never had someone be that caring with him.

And yet, the next time Aurora and he happened to meet eyes, he once again instantly looked away from her.

Aurora sighed as she put the lid on the jar of disinfectant. "Will you at least tell me why you're being an ass now?"

Crosshair huffed.

"You were nice when you wanted to get laid, weren't you?" She continued, clearly angry.

"Sorry, sunshine," he replied, condescending. "It won't work."

"A bleak excuse," she rolled her eyes as she reached into her kit and pulled out a clean bandage, readying herself to apply it once again around his bare abdomen and back.

Crosshair noticed as her resolve faltered when she looked at him, and she felt it too. Aurora normally didn't have a problem dealing with exposed skin. Not only was it natural, but she was a professional doing her job.

But this was Crosshair, and he still made her nervous. Her gaze still wandered around his body, stopping over the lines of his toned muscles, the little salt and pepper trail that disappeared beneath his belt, imagining the warmth and taste of his skin, rising and falling with his breaths as they got heavier, faster.

Another scoff left him as he gazed down on her; he knew exactly what he did to her.

“Forget about it, sweetheart,” he said.

Frowning at him again, Aurora reached inside the right breast pocket of her uniform and took out the note she had found on her nightstand the morning after she and Crosshair had been together. She showed it to him, her eyes determined, while Crosshair looked blankly at the piece of paper.

“Then what was the meaning of this?” She asked. “You could have just left, quietly, in the night, without further obligation. You wanted to see me again.”

“That was before I found out you were going to be transferred to this squad,” he barked back.

“What difference does it make?” She challenged, tightening the bandage around him and securing it, letting her hands drop to her thighs. “What changed?”

“I’m not even allowed to date,” he said as he leaned down, closer to her, his brown eyes staring straight into her purple ones. “And you don’t fool me. You were out looking for a fling, but that’s not all you want. You want to cuddle. You want a boyfriend. I can’t give you either of those.”

She felt a pang in her chest, knowing he was right—she’d made the mistake of liking Crosshair far more than she should have. But just as she admitted it to herself, her realization faded into spite the moment Crosshair smirked at her, proudly having won the battle.

“You like me,” he stated, pride oozing from him.

She may have liked him, but she knew Crosshair was loving the attention. She’d finished patching him up, and by all means there was nothing to worry about regarding his injury.

If Crosshair could have his fun with her, Aurora knew that she could play that game too.

Her big, purple eyes darkened as she slowly lowered her face, scooting forward to be placed right in between his legs, her breath fanning on the bit of exposed skin between the bandage and his belt. Crosshair watched her, his eyes darkening with lust too, though the smug smirk faded.

“I fucking dare you,” he whispered.

“Choose your words carefully,” she replied in an airy voice. “Dare me and I just might do it.”

Crosshair remained speechless, but with his eyes, he beckoned. He got lost in the alluring purple of her eyes, following her gaze as she lowered herself even closer to his body. Unconsciously, Crosshair took his hand to the back of Aurora’s head, fisting some of the lavender-colored locks that fell gracefully down her back, tugging with the slightest force.

It was enough to send fire down her back.

Aurora undid the buckle of his belt and set it aside, swiftly removing the codpiece until she was able to free his length from his undersuit. She smirked when she noticed it was already hardening, pulsing as it tried to find her, while Crosshair’s breathing had already deepened.

“Looks like you want me too,” she met eyes with him just before wrapping blue fingers around Crosshair’s cock, finally taking him into her mouth and tasting with glee.

Crosshair hissed, struck by how much of his length she could take in. His gaze calmly rested on the dots of yellow that went down her nose, bobbing up and down as she sucked him raw, until his head fell back when he had no will to even think anymore. He held in any groans, lest they’d be discovered, and instead resorted to whispering fluent, sinful strings of curses in different languages.

It was only when he felt himself about to tip off the edge that he regained the knowledge to speak, tilting his head forward again to look at Aurora. Just as she deep-throated him, she took her gaze up to look at him, her eyes wide and innocent despite the utter filth she was responsible for at the moment, nearly rendering him speechless again.

“F-Fuck,” he grunted. “I—”

He cut himself off to hiss as the sudden pleasure engulfed him; he heard her moan when he involuntarily tugged harder on her hair, and his hips rocked with more momentum against his will.

Aurora lingered but a few seconds with him, until, quietly, she decided to leave him in his room without another word spoken.

Tension followed the two wherever they met up. Though the other troopers seemed oblivious to their actions in the bunks, it was evident that they weren’t getting along well.

Of course, with Crosshair being the way he was, this wasn’t a first for the rest of Clone Force 99. They merely figured Aurora had finally caught a whiff of how the sniper functioned when she stopped trying to get his attention.

To the naked eye, it would seem like Crosshair didn’t care.

The hours dragged on in hyperspace. It soon became time for Aurora to retire for her rest hours, sliding into the bunk room that was now hers. It was small, but it would suffice, and despite Crosshair, she hoped to be able to make it a home. She’d already tried to resolve to be neutral towards him, as civil as she could.

But how could she do that? The man made her tingle between her legs just by looking at her. Hell, even thinking about him made her soak, as involuntary as it was.

She figured she’d have to get used to it, but her thoughts would be interrupted by the sound of her door opening. Her gaze jerked toward it, and her features would drop in disappointment when she saw Crosshair standing there, his expression unreadable.

“What do you want?” She asked him. “Your wound’s all patched up, you don’t need me to look over it again.”

He walked into her room and closed the door behind him. “I don’t know what I’m doing here.”

“Well, you can’t just get my door open and waltz yourself in here,” Aurora told him out of spite.

“Thought you wouldn’t mind,” his arrogance returned in the form of a smug little smirk on his lips.

Aurora wanted to roll her eyes, but she found herself looking at him, suddenly wanting to be held in his strong arms again.

“I’m sorry, sunshine,” Crosshair broke the silence, surprising her with his kindness.

She sighed. “Cross, I don’t even know what to say.”

“I can’t give you what you want,” he continued. “Not unless it’s just a good fuck.”

Her gaze on him darkened, the words ringing in her ears, until all reason seemed to evaporate from her body. She wanted him, and, carnally at least, he wanted her too. And, lustful as it may have been, a part of her still wasn’t okay with letting him go.

And the way Crosshair was looking at her, it seemed like he was thinking the same thing, which would only be sealed when the two lunged at each other and engaged in a fiery kiss, devouring one another. As he let his hands roam around her body, he pushed her toward the wall of her room, growling softly into the kiss while sliding his fingers over her every curve, allowing himself to get lost in her scent.

“We’re just fucking,” he panted into her lips as his hands kneaded into the firm flesh of her thighs.

“I can’t tell you how long I’ll be okay with that,” she spoke back between kisses, her hands traveling hungrily up and down his back before settling for tugging at his silver curls.

Zoro watched Luffy as he slept, his chest rising and falling with each breath. He was sure he'd seen Luffy blush, but as soon as it appeared, it also disappeared. He could have been wrong. He wrapped his arms around Luffy's waist and buried his face in the crook of his neck. He was sure his feelings were becoming more noticeable at this point.

"What am I going to do with you...you're driving me crazy."

Zoro mumbled to himself, making sure he didn't wake Luffy up. Then he saw a shadow appear over them. He looked up, and a cold sweat started to form.

"You like him, don't you?"

Zoro sighed, but nodded. He could feel his face heating up.

"Who would of thought. Does any one else know?"

"The cook."

Nami smiled and crouched to their level.

"That explains a lot. Well, I can definitely say your odds are better than Kids."

Zoro gave her a small smile, knowing that it was true.

"Then I'll leave you two alone. Have fun napping I guess."

Nami stood up and left. Zoro just pulled Luffy closer, wanting to sleep as well. The weather was nice, and the shade and small breeze made it better. If he could, he would have stayed like that for hours. Fortunately, fate decided to give them the time off.

After an hour or so Zoro woke up to familiar voices. He looked up see Usopp and Chopper staring right at him. Well, more like staring at them. He still had his arms around Luffy.

"Shit what the-"

Usopp slapped his hand over Zoro's mouth. He whispered.

"I have never seen him sleep so calmly. He always looks uncomfortable."

Chopper nodded.

"By the way, what is this? Why are you two sleeping together?"

Brook walked over, a cup of tea in his hand.

"Isn't it obvious? With the way Zoro-san acts it's clear that he likes Luffy-san, yohohoho!"

Zoro scowled. Had everyone but the man he's in love with noticed?

Usopp turned back to Zoro, analyzing him.

"I think you're right Brook. Wow, who would have imagined."

"If you three don't leave right now I'll make sure you can never walk again."

Usopp shivered at the thought. He quickly stood up, Chopper following his lead.

"Then we'll leave you be. Come on Chopper, you wanted Robin to lend you a book right?"

"Oh you're right! I need it for my assignment."

With that they left. Brook on the other hand walked towards Franky, who was trying to build something for a nearby squirrel.

Zoro sighed. He hoped they wouldn't bring it up to Luffy, who wanted to be awake by the time they arrived.

After a few minutes he decided to wake Luffy up. It had been over an hour, if anything he should be getting proper sleep at home instead of at the park. He shook him slightly, which didn't work. Then he tried calling his name. Didn't work either.

"How much sleep have you been getting at home?"

In the end he couldn't wake him up. There were other methods, sure, but he didn't have the heart to yell at him. After a few minutes tried one more time and shook him with more force, and it worked.

"Mm..."

Luffy looked up at Zoro, their faces inches apart. This caused him to remember what happened at the roller skating rink, and he blushed. He quickly turned.

"Everyone's here now."

"Are they? But I want to sleep more."

"You can sleep more once you get home."

"But you felt more comfortable than my bed! Maybe it's because I've had it since primary school..."

Zoro gave a soft sigh and ruffled his hair.

"We can go buy you a new bed then."

"No thank you. I got it from my brothers, I'm not replacing it."

"What? Then tell them to buy you a new one."

"But I have the money for one."

Zoro wanted to strangle him.

"Then buy one. I'm pretty sure they would tell you to do the same."

Luffy pouted at the thought. He rested his head in the crook of Zoro's neck.

"I guess. I'm just too busy to buy one these days."

Zoro knew he was just being lazy, but he didn't bother pointing it out. That's when Nami came towards the two.

"We're about to start eating. Let's go you two."

Luffy quickly stood up.

"Really?! Finally! I'm starving."

Zoro stood up and followed behind them. He looked around and saw that the spot that they originally had was no longer being occupied by them.

"Oh marimo, come help me for a second."

Zoro walked over to Sanji, who quickly pulled him away.

"What the-"

"Earlier, you were about to confess right?"

Zoro started at him for a bit before running his hand through his hair, feeling a little embarrassed.

"Shit, yeah. I was lost in thought."

"You scared me, and I'm not even the one who's confessing or being confessed to."

Zoro smiled, which made Sanji groan.

"I hate you. Come help me, we're moving closer to the lake."

He handed Zoro the basket and pulled him by the wrist. Everyone else was already there. Nami was talking with Usopp and Luffy, and Robin was playing cards with everyone else.

Once the basket was put down everyone started talking and eating together.

"And then Kaya kissed me!"

Sanji choked on his drink.

"What?! You got kissed before me?!"

Usopp laughed.

"Clearly ladies prefer me over you."

"I'll kill you."

Nami bit a piece of her fruit.

"Haven't you two been dating since September?"

"Yeah, but being kissed is nice."

"Hm, is it?"

"Nami-san we can try!"

Nami just smiled at Sanji. Robin flipped through her book.

"I can say that it's nice as well."

Everyone stopped and turned towards her. Sanji looked like he had just been stabbed.

"What?"

Robin looked up from her book. She blushed when she realized all the attention was on her.

"Oh, I didn't think it would be that big of a deal."

Nami smiled.

"That big of a deal? Who was it?!"

Franky laughed.

"Yeah, who was it?"

Robin sighed and closed her book.

"Wouldn't you like to know Franky."

He just smiled. Usopp stared at the two before putting the dots together.

"You kissed Franky?"

Robin nodded. Sanji was close to attacking Franky, but was stopped by Brook and Usopp. Zoro and Luffy just watched the commotion.

"Sorry for not waking you up on time."

Luffy turned to him.

"Hm? Oh it's fine, if anything I'm happy I got to sleep longer."

Zoro nodded, a little happy he was forgiven. Luffy bit his sandwich, some of it getting on his lips.

"Didn't your siblings teach you any manners?"

Luffy frowned.

"Of course they did! Kind of."

Zoro rolled his eyes and brushed his lips with his thumb. Luffy stared at him for a second before smiling.

"Thanks!"

It had been over a week from your confrontation with Henry; it seemed he had avoided you with all costs. Which was good in a way since you were able to focus on your duties without hearing the gossip on how you reamed the poor, handsome pediatrician. But that peach. The way he bit into that delicious, forbidden fruit. Despite all attempts, it wouldn't escape your mind. You spent countless nights trying to escape from him in your dreams. How you envisioned his strong hands would roam your curves, allowing you to give into temptation and will. His steel blue eyes would pierce your soul and to know if he would moan your name through the grit of his teeth would send a burning sensation at the apex of your thighs.

You tried to shrug it off, all fruits were off limits to you right now. The banana sitting on your desk was too much to handle. Fellatio entered your mind and you quickly grabbed it along with your lunch to head to the cafeteria to leave it in the common bowl. As you briskly walked down the corridor, with the phallic botanical berry in hand, you stopped to see him speaking with another colleague. Your face became flushed as you were afraid that he could read your mind: how you thought of so many countless times of him bending you over your office desk. Unknowingly your thumb rubbed the banana methodically as you tried to erase all tantalizing thoughts of Dr. Cavill.

"Yes, I think that date will work out nicely," Henry replied, not aware of your presence.

"It should be good weather, these types of events always draw great media attention," Dr. Tran replied, scribbling down notes on her clipboard.

"Yes, make sure to talk to Dr. Stephen, please. We will need his help with the coordination and directory of past patients."

You couldn't help but admire how good he looked today. His deep, blue tie complimented his eyes and his hair was extra wavy, perhaps less product. You thought of how you'd like to grab those luscious locks with your fingers and crane his neck as you sat on his lap. Snap out of it.

As you stood there like a fool, both doctors turned finally to look at you and then to the banana that you had fisted in your hand.

You grimaced at the thought of how ridiculous you must have looked approaching the two established doctors, and you quickly tried to shove it in your lunch bag. You fumbled a few times with your attempt to unzip your bag and both it and the banana fell to the floor.

Oh God, I'm such an idiot.

You quickly squatted down as you picked up the banana, and of course Henry bent down to hand over the fruit to you; your hands touched for a millisecond and you became flushed.

Why the hell am I acting so dumb? I'm a successful and accomplished woman. This man just looks at me and I melt into a puddle. Is it obvious? Can he read me?

He released his hold on the banana as you scoop it up and finally stuff it in your bag. The silence was deafening and you wanted to just die. As you're crouched, your stethoscope slipped out from around your neck and Henry caught it without a missed beat. You both stood up and Henry coughed into his fist as Dr. Tran watched the ridiculous display of your inability to keep cool.

"Hi, Dr. Y/LN. I was just telling Dr. Cavill that we're all set with the NICU/Pediatric Reunion next month."

You smooth your hair and tuck a strand behind your ear. Failed attempt to regain composure.

"Um, yes. I recall that being discussed at the last board meeting. Sounds like a great event. Is there anything that you will do to me?"

The doctors blinked at your blunder.

"I-I mean…" you try to recover but really, you wish you would die right now and cease to have ever existed.

"No, we have it covered," Henry replied in a husky voice that made you swoon.

"Yes, if we need anything, we will let you know. It will mostly be the budget approvals and the parking lot permit to hold the event. But I'll send those your way shortly," Dr. Tran smiled.

"Y-yes of course," you spew. "Well, I'll let you doctors to it. Good day." You hug your lunch bag and stride as fast as you could to the lift.

"Dr. Y/LN," you hear Henry's voice and you try to ignore it as you press the lift button three times. C'mon...I cannot be seen incompetent anymore for the day.

"Dr. Y/LN…" He repeats as he taps your shoulder.

You close your eyes and bear what he has to say. That he can't believe you're chief. That you should go back home and we'd all be better off without such a spastic person and he knows that you think of him day in and day out.

"Your stethoscope," he answers and hands you your medical equipment.

You stare dumbfounded at the item and then touch your neck, realizing it had fallen off moments before.

"Oh. Uhm, thank you," you reply as you accept it and wrap it around your neck.

"Yes, well. G'day," his lips curled to a smile. Was that a smile? Did you get the elusive doctor to smile? Wait, he's a thorn in your side - why are you wanting him to smile?

You nod as he pivots his heel and heads back to Dr. Tran. His broad shoulders looked like they would make his white cost burst at the seams. You picture him ripping yours off and leaning you over your desk again...grasping your arse and biting into it just like the peach...

The lift's doors close and you turn to realize you missed it. This day just keeps getting better.

Henry's smooth, tantalizing way he ghosted his hand over your thighs drove you crazy.

"Henry…" you moaned.

He gave a toothy grin in knowing his ability to tease you. He peppered light kisses on your hip bone and intertwined his finger through your panties. His strong hand massaged over your mound as you bucked your hips in anticipation.

"Henry!" You whined this time, the anticipation was killing you.

His fingers teased the waistband of your panties and he massaged your inner thighs. It wasn’t gentleness you wanted from him and he thought the same. The weight of your body on his was extraordinary, he wanted to feel all of you on him. A warm pooled sensation erupted between your thighs.

"Y/N?"

You rubbed your eyes, hearing the faint sound of your name brought confusion as your head turned on the pillow.

"Y/N?"

You cough and realize you were dreaming. Again. This time it felt so real though...and graphic.

"Um, yeah?" You call out to your cousin, Laura.

"Dinner's getting cold. I set up a plate for you, love."

"Thanks, I'll be out in a minute," you reply as you rub the temples of your forehead.

I can't believe I was dreaming about Henry again. I need therapy. The things I want that man to do to me...

Slowly you get up and realize you fell asleep in your work clothes and peer to the digital clock on your night stand, 8:07pm.

I have to get out. I need to clear my mind and chase any thoughts of Dr. Cavill away.

You head over to your closet and decide to drink your dinner tonight instead. As you peruse your clothes, you realize you ought to update your wardrobe. The jeans and hooded sweatshirt combo style from Oregon probably wouldn't work for tonight. While being in London you noticed it wasn't an off the catwalk requirement, you wanted to at least be fetching considering your current relationship status.

Laura knocks once more, "Babe, are you alive?"

"Come in," you reply, still thinking of what to wear.

Laura enters, her black hair is tied up high in a ponytail, the usual look of a grade school teacher who is hands on with her students.

"What are you doing?" She asks and sits down on your bed.

"I want to go out."

Her eyes widened, "You do?!"

You grimaced at reaction, quite knowing she'll want to tag along. But then you are reminded you are new to the area and it's probably best to have someone you trust with you in the city.

"Yeah...do you want to come?"

She jumps up excitedly, "Oh yes, I'll just tell Roger to watch the kids for the night. Oh Y/N, I needed this. You needed this! After everything…" she trails off for a moment and you pause as you have your back to her.

"On second thought…" you bite your lip.

"What? No I'm sorry...I didn't mean to bring anything up. Let's go have some fun. I'm going to put my face on and find something for you to wear."

You turn to her and see the pained expression of regret in her eyes.

"Y/N…"

"It's okay…it's been over eleven months."

"He would have wanted you to be happy."

"I know, I just feel guilty," you reply solemnly. Laura sits up from the bed and wraps her around you tightly.

"Sweetie, he will always be in your heart. You're allowed to have some joy in your life, you shouldn't feel guilty for that."

"Yeah, that's what they keep saying…"

"Listen," she says as she holds your shoulders square with her hands. "I'm glad you have your work and you put your all in it, but you need to have balance otherwise you'll crack. I'm not saying to snog every guy you see around the corner. But enjoy life, too. It's what Jeremy would be doing right now. He died doing what he loved."

You nod as you think back to the last time you saw your boyfriend. It had been that fateful early Saturday morning where it seemed like just any other Saturday. You made breakfast for the two of you while he prepared his gear for the trip. He had let the dogs out for the morning and was rummaging through his pack. The weather seemed decent, but with Winchester Bay it could change with the blink of an eye. Jeremy kissed you goodbye after breakfast and mentioned he'd see you later that day. Unfortunately neither of you would be the same after his trip: it was your dark day that you'd like to forget and ultimately what drove you to leave your career, friends, life and move across the globe.

Laura let go of her embrace and looked steady into your eyes, "You are worthy of good things, Y/N. Don't forget that. You loved Jeremy, we all loved him. But his death was not your fault, you have to try to move on."

"I think I'll just wear this," you reply as you show her a sleeveless dark forest green blouse.

"Oh that's too professional where we're going."

"It's all I really have, Laura."

I have something in mind…" she smiles and kisses your forehead. What have I gotten myself into?
