[ back ] [ next ] [ start ]
next post... hopefully in less than two months this time lmfao.
Transcript below.
Caleb: It’s called Glimmerbrook. Rose: The name sounds familiar. Caleb: It’s some miles east off the freeway the runs between Verona and Bridgeport’s outer loop. Rose: Up near Granite Falls? Caleb: Yeah that’s the place. There’s nothing notable there today except a few houses but back in the 60’s it was home to a popular place called the E&B. Rose: Which stands for? Caleb: Elixirs and Brews. Rose: Very…witchy… Caleb: It was a marketing tactic. You know, flickering lights, “floating objects”, doors randomly opening and closing, typical haunted house things. Most interesting part was that they had people walking around claiming to be animated versions of the pictures on the walls. Rose: So it was the 80s version of The House of Fallen Trees that’s in downtown Bridgeport? Caleb: Funny you say that. It’s believed to be the prototype. Jon Smith Tricou was involved in this place as well. He was one of the investors …and also one of the disappearances that Gunther thinks is connected to the coven. Rose: …interesting. Where does Gunther even get all of this information from? He seems like the guy to- Caleb: Steal everything off some obscure internet form from almost 20 years ago and pass it off as his own? Yeah. Rose: Wait what? Caleb: Yeah, he steals all of his stuff. All of it. I don’t know if he knows that I know that, but I do know. Rose: Damn, unexpected Caleb: Is it? Rose: I was going to say seems like the type of go all out for this kind of thing. Caleb: Yeah right. Gunther Munch? Do his own work? Never going to happen. Rose: How do you know all of this anyways? Caleb: Back in the beginning of high school there was this girl I was sort of friends with. She along with her family were into the occult and was the one who originally showed me the website. Rose: Some girl? Is it always some girl with you?

🔥cassandra
Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion.
they're going to kill me for this LMAO okay i'm putting it under a cut and as a disclaimer again, these are just my opinions, not a fact, and i dont care what characters you like or dont like as long as youre not a dick to me abt characters i like or dont like
that being said. i dont like c/assandra. i dont get compelled by her character dynamics with anyone, i dont find her interesting to think about or even fun to dislike. from dawn of the seeker right up to inquisition, i feel like she hasn't changed AT ALL, and her character arc is literally net zero progress in any direction. she doesn't get better and she doesn't get worse. and everyone constantly talks abt how you can never challenge c/ullen on any of his views but i think its even worse with c/assandra, which is yknow whatever i guess, but she doesn't even have the potential for character growth that could compel me. she's the right hand of the divine, she's a seeker (and therefore not controlled by lyrium), she's a woman in a (supposedly) matriarchal society, she's nobility - she has every advantage, in the theoretical socio-political context of thedas, to realise her opinions are shit but she doesn't. and i'm not even compelled to try and fix it. she bores me.

☾ *  ―  [ C ] ASSANDRA'S TRIP TO THE UNDERCITY .
Tumblr media
Cassandra isn't unaware of the dangers of Zaun, in fact, when she was younger, around eighteen and a rebellious daughter of House Kiramman, she decided to take a trip to Zaun. She, too, felt the hint of the thrill of it that her mother never engaged in, she wanted to see the streets and find something of interest. To grab at her very heart and take her for an experience. Zaun wasn't like Silco's Zaun, it was still inherently violent and dangerous if one wasn't careful.
The Piltovan elite had no idea what she was stepping into. She had been curious and wanted to see what the whole hype about the undercity and her mother demanded never to cross the bridge. The place was to be seen, but never heard from. Still, Cassandra wanted to know! What if they had something of use, what if they could provide more for Piltover? What commerce and political gain could be extended to help them? So despite all the rules, Cassandra descended into the city, wanting to go to the shop that she had heard from one of the Zaunites topside.
However, along the way, Cassandra was attacked. She had never been taught how to fight back, she knew how to handle a rifle but she didn't bring it with her. Cassandra had been stabbed with a bladed hand and her money ripped from her clutches. It left the councillor's heiress shaken when she was young (before she was a councilor). No one helped her, as she limped back through the streets, the way she was ignored, and scowled at, even the children running from her; no one cared she was bleeding all over their ground. Her mother had the best physician and doctors tended to her, stitching up the stab wound on her right abdomen and a hardened lesson.
Zaun was dangerous; it was filled with thieves and killers and dangers no one could anticipate. At that point, Cassandra no longer saw interest in Zaun, her adventuring and rebellious nature immediately quenched like a fire doused by water. At that point, Cassandra's eyes no longer saw interest in Zaun but only the dangers within. She understood why her mother often told her not to deal with the undercity as they were filled with monsters and animals; the savage nature of that city was not for the cultured Piltovans.
Cassandra's hardened views made her determined to protect Caitlyn from that city. It's why she's suspicious of anyone who is a Zaunite and why she curses them under her breath. It's why, when she stated to the council, that "the undercity cannot be controlled by us," and his displeased appearance of Vi when Caitlyn brought her home. To Cassandra, the undercity is its city and she not be interfered with. They are their people, and Piltover should stay on its side. It is why she was so headstrong in protecting Caitlyn from the dangers of the undercity and the threats that linger down there.
She is not coming from an ignorant standpoint. Cassandra was in the undercity, she saw its people, and she witnessed its violence firsthand. She knows of it and what it stands for and she actively tries to protect Piltover and her daughter from the dangers there. There is no surprise when she finds out about the violence nor does she have an interest in providing a working setting between them. The undercity is its own and Piltover is its own; that is how she believes it should be. And Most of all, she wants her daughter nowhere near it out of worry that she might become a victim of the violence.

Saw this on tiktok but can’t find it anymore but in So Long London she says „I stopped CPR after all it’s no use“ then in the Anthology we get:
C assandra
P eter
R obin
Do you think that means anything?
my gut says it's a coincidence but it could be a little easter egg she left. i don't think it means anything new. cpr is what you do to try and save someone who's dying. in this case she meant taylor and joe's relationship, she stopped trying to save it at a certain point. i don't think there's some extra layer of meaning to those three songs.

I want to listen to the audio book Jason Dohring did at one point, but unfortunately, it's one of the Mortal incest-ruments— I mean, M/ortal I/nstruments books, by C/assandra C/lare, so I'd rather not actually support her, because she's kinda weird (y'know, 'cause of the incest stuff, which there's more than a one-time case of in her works, not to mention plagiarism and bullying, if I remember correctly)
So does anyone know how to pirate an audio book? 🤔 I just want to see if Jason is as bad at audio books as he was at first in Kingdom Hearts, like no offense, but I die from cringing whenever I try to watch Kingdom Hearts stuff with Terra😭

i could write a lot about dragon age's specializations and their fumbled treatment but not really in the mood. i'll just say it's sad that blood mage and templar (or, to be more specific, lyrium consumption) are the two combat specializations with the most lore and they're not going to be even considered for veilguard.
