would you share behind-the-scenes from your dorian story? it's so canon how did you do that? how much does each of you write? what made you say you wanted to write this project?

Behind the Scenes: Asra and Julian - The Route

Q: It's so canon, how did you do that?

First of all, thank you so much 🥹 We're striving to make it feel as canon as possible, so being told we've achieved that is the best possible compliment. As for how… two long-time Arcana fans, one shorter-time fan who tries to make up for it with perfectionism, a ton of love for the characters and the world, hours of brainstorming and a huge collection of screenshots from the game to help us remember everything.

Q: How much does each of you write?

I'd say it's a pretty equal split between us. Each of us may write more on some chapters and less on others (depending on what we feel inspired to write and what else is going on in our lives), but it seems to even out in the long run so far. Also, usually the other two edit whatever one of us writes, so the final product ends up being an amalgamation of all of our words. The gorgeous art is all @asrabounding , though.

Q: What made you say you wanted to write this project?

Short answer: we love these two human disasters and all we want is to see them happy together (after an appropriate amount of angst, character growth and unresolved tension of every kind, of course).

Longer answer: @asrabounding had the idea for the Route ages ago, but it's a massive project, and wasn't really feasible prior to the Arcana assets being available to fan creators on Dorian for a number of reasons. The three of us met on AO3 last year and started bonding over Asrian headcanons, and @santamalgastadora and I loved the concept for the Route. So we made a pact to turn it into reality together if the assets were to become available - and a few months later, here we are!
