Original Chapter 2 concept:

When you enter the cabin, you keep Narrator's words about the princess lying and cheating in mind and make sure to interrogate and prod at her every statement in the basement.

The princess gets visibly distressed and irritated at this, feeling even more trapped under your interrogation and getting more angry the more you doubt her words ("I don't know! I just don't know! What else do you want me to say?"). Hero suggests that maybe you should lay off a bit, and Narrator shows irritation at the fact that you keep questioning instead of slaying.

If you keep up the interrogation, getting closer so that now the princess is also physically cornered, the princess will snap at you and use her chains to trap and strangle you, screaming like a trapped animal.

Everything goes dark and you die.

Chapter II: The Weaver

You're accompanied by Voice of the Interrogator, and go to the cabin to find a moist stone building with walls covered in a silky thread. In the basement, there's a regular-looking princess waiting for you, tho you can't quite make out her face from this distance. She screams at you to help her, that there's a monster nearby and to please save her soon.

If you do, you'll find yourself getting dangled in webs, and that the 'princess' was just a decoy set up by the real princess, who was waiting for you on the ceiling.

You know, I wish we kinda got more of an openly deceptive Princess, like with her trying to steal your knife or something after convincing you she's harmless. Like if you help her out but still think she's untrustworthy, she moves to steal the blade and attack you, ending in a mutual kill.

Chapter 2 would be called The Actress, with the cabin looking like a run-down movie set and the Princess looking like some old actress from the Golden Age of Hollywood. And she doesn't exactly have a great opinion of you as a "costar", considering what happened last time

Fan vessel concept: The Horror (a self loathing princess)

Buckle up, this is a long one.

This is in some ways the gentle princesses equivalent of the specter, you have to go downstairs without the knife to immediately attempt to save her without hesitating at all. When you do the princess actually ask you if you know why she's locked up down here. You can either hesitate and remain silent, which leads to the normal chain of events and the Damsel, or you can be completely honest and tell her that you were told she was going to destroy the world. As always she thinks the notion is ridiculous.

You cut her free and when the narrator tries to take over your body there's a new option, one created by your unwavering determination to save the princess, one that can push back against him so completely that the princess doesn't even have to kill you. The Voice of the Hero hands the blade to the princess to make sure that the narrator doesn't get another chance like that and the two of you leave the cabin, the narrator ranting and raveing the whole time.

You go up the stairs and out the cabin door, and as you do, the narrator begins to fade away. Then, the world also starts to fade. The princess is shocked. She looks around at the world disappearing and asks if you're doing this? If you knew this would happen? If... she's doing this? Then it really hits her, she truly realizes that she is destroying this world, she feels the cold and the horror of the situation, and before the world can disappear fully, she tries to stop it by taking your blade and plunging it into her own chest, she is dead before the Shifting Mound can take her.

It's too little too late, and the world continues to fade out until you are left standing in nothingness the only thing around you, the dead body of the princess. Having never even seen the mirror and having made a vessel that Shifty cannot use.

You get "the bad ending"

And get the choice to either stay here for eternity resulting in getting one of the five stages of grief scenes where Shifty takes you and yells at you and all that.

Or just like in the good ending, you can kill yourself. Take the blade from the body of The Princess and stab yourself

Then you wake up on the path in the woods but rather than the narrator's voice, the first thing you hear is an echoey distorted version of the princesses: "you're on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path is a cabin, in the basement of that cabin is a princess, you are here to slay her" her voice breaks, a sob cutting through, "please..."

The narrator is confused, and for the first time we see him suspicious. He immediately picks up on that you have had to have been here before, because unlike other chapter twos this beginning is too different for him, the woods are as they should be but the princess taking his place even for a moment is something he can't ignore.

He suspicious that she is asking you to slay her, he tries to hide it but he's clearly wondering if maybe she has some sort of actual plan to use her death to escape. He can't comprehend that she might actually want to die, tying with both his mistrust of The Princess and his belief that anything is better than oblivion. He can't comprehend that Princess might want to make the same 'noble' sacrifice that he did.

The princess on the other hand serves as a voice for this chapter, she is able to hear the voices and the narrator throughout the chapter, (or maybe the piece of her within you does) and is adamant that you need to kill her. Her doing it didn't work. It has to be you.

I think you would get the voice of the contrarian as well, because as much as I love him in stranger, I didn't even know he had his own chapter until I found a list of all the routes after firt playingthe game, that's been fixed a bit in the pristine cut, but I still feel like he needs a more content heavy dedicated chapter.

Narrator is busy trying to both insist that you need to slay the princess, but also imply that maybe you shouldn't do it now because it seems like killing her is what she wants and it'll probably let her escape somehow, while still trying not to put too dangerous of an idea in your head. He's torn caught in a loop of reverse reverse psychology.

As you move forward towards the cabin, the narrator eventually settles on the position that you need to do something about the princess but just stabbing her in the heart with the pristine blade is clearly what she wants somehow and you shouldn't go through with it, you'll have to find another way. "Maybe burn the cabin down or feed her poison, maybe there's a bottomless pit we can drop her in. It feels like that would work."

The princess insists that nothing else will work, it has to be with the blade and it has to be Quiet doing it.

The hero is sad but is on team kill the princess with the blade having seen what freeing her did and listening to her wishes, where as the contrarian is the one who still insists on trying to save her. He believes there has to be a way, and despite everyone disagreeing with him, he keeps pushing for it.

Inside the cabin is cordoned off, wooden planks covering the windows, all haphazardly nailed into place, as if in a rush. The door is barred and also nailed shut. Covered in signs that tell you to keep out, and stay away for your own safety.

The blade is in a case with a sign referring to it that says 'in case of emergencies take this'

The princess and hero want you to take the blade, the narrator doesn't, and surprisingly the contrarian wants you to pick up the blade.

And then he tells you to throw it out the window.

If you do that, or choose to leave the blade, the princess freaks out. Calling you a monster that's doomed of the world and many other things before her voice goes silent, and you feel her presence leave your head.

She still goes silent if you take it and don't throw it out but only after thanking you, telling you how to open the door.

The princess tells you she's sorry for the inconvenience she just wanted to make sure she couldn't leave, just in case she ever wanted to.

You slowly pluck the nails from the door, and as it opens the princesses the voice leaves your head, "see you soon..."

You head down the stairs. The narrator describes the basement as a constraining place, if the princess lives here slaying her would be a mercy.

No matter which of the stair dialogue options you pick the princess responds with something more or less like.

"I know you're here we were just talking"

When you get downstairs the basement is a more classical dungeon, prison bars separating you and the princess, you can see her through them, she has taken on an appearance with elements invoking the idea of Eldritch horror, she has an extra set of eyes on her face and her hair looks more like tendrils, moving on their own.

Her dress looks more like she is coated in a dark liquid that flows off of her rather than a proper gown. The hand that you had cut off to free her, has been replaced with a long set of tentacles, them wrapped around a ring hammered into the wall rather than her being shackled. She's the one holding herself here.

You ask if you can approach, she tells you the key is on the table beside you, and you can decide to take the key and leave her in the basement (which triggers the shifting mound to take her), or open it and talk to her.

This is a princess who has the kindness of the damsel, but has seen the destruction she can bring to the world and is terrified of it. She believes she can only hurt people, and rather than embracing it like other vessels she she quarantined herself.

She believes her death is the only way to protect everyone. She trusts you to be the hero for everyone else like you were for her, but a part of her is suspicious that you knew that letting her out would really end the world and intend to, but you're the only person who can do this so she has to trust you.

If you come down without the blade, or in the process of your conversation get rid of the blade somehow she will panic and ask you why you did that.

You can tell her that you don't want to kill her and you think there must be another way.

In response she is scared and confused, driven by her emotions her tentacles unwrapped from the ring, and they reach out and grab you, constricting you while she asks how you can have seen what you've seen and still think there's something else for her, that she can be anything else.

In the process she accidentally crushes you, and as you die she has an emotional breakdown, believing that she shouldn't have trusted you with this, and that this is proof that she can only hurt people, when you die you get an alternate version of The Thorn, one with different dialogue (like how the fury has different dialogue depending on if you came from the tower or the adversary.)

If you manage to slowly convince her that she can be freed safely she will come with you and hesitate as you near the door, eventually she will step outside, and things will seem fine for a moment, she will smile, and then the world will start to fade again, and she looks at you with hurt in her eyes, heartbroken at what she thinks is all her fears being proven right. And then the hands take her.

If you try to forcibly free her, by cutting the tentacles that are serving as her shackle she will take it as you actively trying to end the world, and it will kill you taking you to whatever her unique chapter 3 would be, (probably something involving her trying to keep you both chained up forever since killing either of you doesn't seem to work.) You'd also get the voice of the stubborn for that chapter.

If you listen to the narrator, and go against the princesses wishes by trying to kill her in some way other than the blade, (I don't know maybe there's a bottomless pit in her cell or something,) it will net you "the good ending"

Eventually, the contrarian will decide to kill you, and if you don't have the blade, he will have you jump into the bottomless pit

This also bring you to that unique chapter 3, except with the voice of the cold.

I think she would make for a remorseful heart

Saw someone reddit complaining why there wasn't an princess that wanted us to slay her so I wrote up an fan route where this occurs. Warning there's themes of suicide ideation here, also very long

Go into basement without knife

Tell princess she's gonna end the world

Pressure her on this point and tell her dying is the right choice for everyone

Eventually she'll relent and let you go upstairs to get the knife and slay her

Then slay yourself to escape good end

Chapter 2- the harbinger

You get the voice of the righteous

This voice believes that slaying the princess will stop the end of the world yet still distrusts the narrator, believing was stopping him from seeing his saved world. He wants to both slay the princess and escape the construct.

The cabin's interior is falling apart (similar to thorns route) as if the princess's very prescene is bringing down the cabin

The stairs are similar, with holes and tears in the stairs.

The princess is in a crumbling basement, the roof threatening to collapse on both of you.

The princess has a tattered black dress and a broken tiara. She looks visibly disheveled.

She knows her existence is suffering and wishes to put an end to herself, and asks you to slay her.

You can either convince her that her life has a purpose and that you were wrong, her existence isn't a threat to the world. When you get close you start to decomposs to her prescene bringing ruin to those around her, but you're able to comfort her in your last moments trying to convince her of her worth.

This leads the chapter 3 the Decay

Or you can try and slay her, which you then realize her very presence causes those around her to decomposs rapidly. She'll apologize and take the blade from you intent on slaying herself. Before she's able too, the hands take her away.

Chapter 3- the Decay

The Decay takes place in a dead forest, the trees now just stumps and little to no grass.

You now have the voices of smitten, righteous, and hero.

The cabin is almost entirely made of rotting wood and dead plants and the stairs are barely there anymore, it's a difficult cabin to progress in.

The decay awaits you and confesses she now has a reason for living, that she knows her purpose is death but death is natural and not something to get rid of.

She has a plan of getting out of the cabin but involves the slayer having to keep their distance from her and open the door for her so she can walk out.

The slayer trusts her and opens the door for the decay to leave. She's happy to finally have found purpose and then gets taken by the hands.

You can try slaying her by coming close but that kills you again and has the hands take decay away.

You can however throw the knife at her and it'll peirce her stomach, she's completely distraught and asks if all you told her last time was a lie and that she truly wasn't wanted in the world. And then the hands take her away again.

"This one is fearful of herself and believes she lacks purpose in this world. Self sacrificial to a fault, she offered her life up to you. She will make for a compassionate heart. Don't not mourn her, she has found her purpose."

Since the last poll got 10 votes to do it. See this as the quote unquote intro;

Asra's upright ending - a person from Kyle's past forces him to have to reconnect to it; giving him the chance to either grow or have his future consumed by it.

Nadia's upright - the sme as Asra's upright but with more of a focus on responsiblity and power of authority, who should rule and why. While Asra's focuses more on familial bounds.

Asra's reversed ending - Being in the magic realm for so long slowly erodeds at who they are leaving them at a crossroads. Bend to the devils magic or become something new at the risk of losing themselves.

Nadia's reversed - having spent so long in the magic realm Kyle has started to disconnect from who he is. An issue that doesn't go away once they've returned to Vesuvia. As he struggles to draw lines between the fool and who he really is. If he even knew who he was after the Lazaret.

Edit: I'd like to point out this is just the start of the route. I.E Kyle's route takes place after their route so you can get upright in Nadia's reversed or double reversed ending. Also I added the summery for each route which I forgot to add originally X3.

Danny is glad he actually made a plan for once. Jazz had been on his back about telling their parents he was Phantom, and he had managed to convince her he had a plan. The only thing that would extend how long it took was the frequency of ghost attacks.

He generally didn’t have much free time, so luckily Clockwork was willing to put him in a time bubble so he could get stuff done, like get enough sleep. But mostly he was training. Sometimes with Wulf to make portals, but other ghosts had come by too.

The power that was giving him the most trouble, and that he needed most for his plan was duplication. It took forever and he still couldn’t have more than 3 versions of himself at one time. How Vlad managed so many he had no idea.

Anyway back to his plan. He got all his stuff that he couldn’t afford to lose hidden away, got copies of all his parents blueprints and files, replaced items that he didn’t feel comfortable letting them keep if worse case scenario came, and a few more miscellaneous things.

He decided not to tell Sam and Tucker what he was doing. Though he did give them a mysterious file that they weren’t able to open yet. It would lead them to him later. But he needed their reactions to be legitimate, even if he hated having to potentially distress them for a bit.

He then sent his duplicate in his place back home while he went to the Ghost Zone to keep learning and keep an eye on things. Hopefully things went well, but he planned to spend a full living realm month here just in case his parents faked taking it well.

It did not go well. About two weeks after his duplicate told his parents they knocked him out and buried him in a ghost proof coffin. Was he glad he wouldn’t have to experience his worse fears as a lab experiment? Yes. Was he still going to have nightmares of being trapped underground unable to escape? Also yes.

He was glad it was his duplicate though. It was easy for him to undo from a distance and since they had been connected he still had all the memories. He typed in the code for the file he gave his friends before he left. Time to go to Gotham, the one place he was able to wheedle out of Clockwork would be best for him.

Rin, smiling, and nagging

Rinsha Fana’s character is summarized in a couple facts thrown here and there. Because she worries for him, she follows Kabru to help his cause and protect him, and to nag him. She’s a grumpy angry tsundere, but it seems not only rooted in her attitude but on a deep rooted physical level, to the point where any intense emotion she feels will make her frown and scowl even if it’s genuine joy. Her childhood was half spent ostracized in the tallman community her family lived in and half with the elves, where she’s said to have been treated like an animal.

We don’t know how she was raised exactly or who it even was, but knowing she was "treated like an animal" by the elves taking care of her…

Elves are shown to have a highly hierarchical society, not only with their concern with status such as nobility and the purity of bloodlines but also reflected by its social culture imo. They have high society and etiquette, upmost devotion to the queen, very role-oriented, like cogs in a machine, and as such, it’s a bit skewed since most of what we see of the elves is in a military context with military people but they seem to value having emotions under lock and key to be efficient and not bring dishonor, Flamela is an interesting character on this. Don’t be a bother and do your job until you’re called on, fulfill your role, everything else is extra at best inconvenient at worst.

Personally I do think the canaries kept Rin, it’d make sense that whichever canaries got stuck with the job at the headquarters would be barebones with her and treat her like an ‘impounded article’, they couldn’t find another place for her and this way they can get her report on the events whenever she can speak again in however many years, and this way it makes sense that she could keep in touch with Kabru too. They’re used to prisoners, not kids. Being raised in a military context rather than at some orphanage would shape her further.

All of this to say…

She’d already seen the world’s harshness to those who don’t conform in her hometown, but with the elves? Her disdain for those who had formal education at a magic school?

Wouldn’t she become very concerned with proving she is not an animal, proving that she’s smart and skilled in her own right on her own merit, even without schooling. And to do this she nitpicks and nitpicks, because even being pristine isn’t enough to be respected, but at least it’s not giving others reasons to disrespect and dehumanize her. Learning to school her emotions, to scowl as a defense mechanism because anything else makes her vulnerable, because they don’t care about her as a person with feelings, because showing other expressions was dangerous or punished in some way: because it was fit in or don’t fit in and that’s the difference between having your house burnt down and being tolerated, between getting her food or having her questions answered and being yelled at to shut up… Because all her life she’s been surviving in hostile social environments and at the mercy of others, but unlike Kabru she doesn’t become a people pleaser but becomes very self-reliant and wary of socializing.

So she nitpicks and nitpicks and nags, because she’s worried. Because flaws are dangerous. So she has a hard time smiling and laughing, because it’s dangerous to allow yourself to feel safe in being authentic.

So basically there's am outcome where you can go up to get the knife on nice princess route, and when you return if you don't lock the door behind you the princess will escape and lock you inside the cabin till you die.

This leads to the witch but I think it could create an new route since the princess here used to trickery to get the upperhand on you.

So I offer chapter 2- the fae

You get the voice of the mystified who respects the princess for her tricks and is oddly interested in her. (This part I struggled the most cause all my ideas are too similar to chested or opportunist. So any alternate ideas would be appreciated)

The cabin is overgrown with bushes that bloom gorgeous, yet poisonous flowers like oleander. There's other plans like vines and mushrooms growing

The stairs have grass, vines, and flowers overflowing from the cracks in the wood. The dtisrs themselves are old and decaying.

The basement is more like a flower field, with a blend of toxic and harmless flowers growing around. There's also a circle of mushrooms surrounding the princess, her chains are already on the ground.

The princess has a flower crown, elf-like and fluffy ears, and hooved legs.

I imagine she stills wants to leave but dosent want to trust you after you tried to get the knife. So the fae will attempt to trick you into letting her out again, like getting you to go upstairs again so she quickly get out the door the second you open it.

Or if you try to fight her she'll use the poisonous flora around her to her advantage and maybe already soaked her hands in crushed toxic flowers, ready for you if you choose to attack.

However, her main goal is still to escape so she dosent want you dead- just not able to hurt her or trying to hurt her. So maybe she just beats you up till your unconscious and tries to drag you out of the cabin if you try to slay her. Then you either allow her to leave, or slay her and then get slayed yourself.

Anyhow either route you choose, she'll eventually have to relent her tricks and have to ask you to let her leave and you decide what to do then.

Here's what the shifting mound has to say, "this one uses lies to forge herself a shield. Trickery is in her nature, yet she had to defy it to finally get what she wanted. She'll make for an blooming heart. Do not mourn her, she has no reason to lie anymore"
