When I Roleplay (2022)

When I nteract with ask blogs o roleplay blogs, I do not exactly interact directly wi the characters. Instead, I use a self-inser that, while mostly based on me, is also part of a storyline that deals wi the link between rea life and make believe connected through the Internet.

Marcus, thi self-insert, is a curious individual. A human boy of 28 years, his childish mannerisms and curiosity coupled with a disinterest in partaking in the romantic (and especially erotic) betray his age. Add his difficulty speaking and you get, at best, an awkward impression. You would be then surprised at his impressive work with languages, software and mathematics.

He seems to just appear in different dimensions and regions, exploring around the area without saying anything. Somehow, he has a different forme depending on the dimension he visits. He does not necessarily hide his shapeshifting abilities on purpose; he simply does not feel the need of announcing these, nor does he make this ability obvious.

Current formes and themes:

Human: his true, unaltered forme is of a slightly concerningly skinny Latino. He rarely appears this way when exploring, though.

Erymanthian Boar: a rarity these days, but he had his fun being a large (if somewhat top-heavy) forme. Thoug he is covered in black fur and has a thin, light-blue mohawk mane and thin, bushy eyebrows, the most noticeably part is his tusks which slightly curve from the lower jaw to close to the back.

Imp: an odd choice, this forme is ‘just enough spikey’ having a randomly spiked crest on his back. His rather stout body is juxtaposed across rather skinny limbs, him tending to be on all fours. His body is coloure different shapes of red.  Thoug he tends to be in this forme by default, he tends to specifically use this forme when in dimensions based on Sonic t Hedgehog or even Hazbin Hotel.

Kantonian Slowpoke: when interacting with Pokémon (or even their trainers!), he takes on a more sea otter-esque take on Slowpoke, being covered incredibly thick fur, having whiskers, and a more ottery face. His very fat underbelly is covered wi the ventral scales that you would expect from a Slowbro r a Slowking, going to below his throat.

Sailfish: his choice in underwater areas, Marcus eems to be awaiting an opportunity that best fits this forme.

Notes:

Despite Marcus being my self-insert, he, a character, does not necessarily have the same knowledge that I have. In other words, just because I know a secret or spoiler of a character does not mean that Marcus would.

Similarly, how Marcus feels and how I feel are not necessarily the same.

My roleplay tag would be 'hierophants hierophants', though that may change at any time.

You know... Looking through some older posts and blogs I grew up with my first years of ask blogging... It’s a bit sad seeing some of them go. askjollydragonite, ask-thepoketrio, speckled-glameow, ask-firefly-the-raichu... I never realized it until now how much it hurts to have left for such a long time period and return where there’s a whole bunch of new blogs unrecognizable to me. The only one I really recognized when coming back from my hiatus was askbookwormflareon, azuraracon, askprofpiplup, and splotchi.

... Just seeing all these posts of older blogs closing, seeing everything pass me by during my absence... It really hurts. anonsables just doesn’t feel like my character anymore. Originally, askteamshelds who inspired me to create the character in the first place, and he left ask blogging even before my hiatus. 

Seeing everyone leave like this... It hurts me so much. I see their original posts and what they’ve done. They were a fantastic group of people, and I never realized how much they meant to me. And now... most don’t do their original blogs anymore. They either got bored or tired of their blog, and that’s how I feel right now about my own ask blog...

I’ve never completed a plot point. I’ve always gone on hiatus before I could finish anything... The first hiatus was because I lost drive. I regained drive with askazorua, but then the second hiatus happened because my dad lost his job. I was hoping to complete at least one plotline, but then the third hiatus came to make me leave for two years. I feel like I’m perpetually going into these hiatuses, never able to escape. I feel like I will go into a fourth hiatus when the fall semester comes in because I will just be too busy to do anything, and I want to be a musician more than an artist.

But I feel like I still have to try, at least. I may be slow, but I’ll finish this plotline, no matter what. I’ll end anonsables on a high note, unlike the other blogs who dropped due to lack of motivation. I want to give my appreciation to the wonderful people that inspired me by doing what they haven’t done. I will complete this blog, and I will make them proud that I was able to hang on to the end!

I miss them, but I still love what they did for this community and for myself. I’m not giving up. Not yet. I’ll continue toward the end for them, and I’ll continue for my characters and myself. So, it’s time I stopped missing them and show these new people what ask blogging’s really about!

... Heh. If only I could be that positive, naive self. No, now I see what I’m doing. I’m just ask blogging for the memory. I’m not doing this because I want to. I’m doing it for the sake of memories. I’m ask blogging because I’m trying to achieve something that has long since passed me.

I took some time to think, and I realize... I’m not an ask blogger anymore. I’m not really ask blogging for the sake of myself. I’m just ask blogging so I can complete a story and prove... what, exactly? That I was able to achieve something the others weren’t able to achieve? That I was able to outlast the pain and sorrow?

This isn’t my community anymore... is it? ... Heh... No, this community barely remembers me. I barely remember me. I was so hopeful to continue this blog and remind myself of a wonderful time. But now, I realize... I’m not happy with myself in this place. Barely anyone recognizes me, and I barely recognize them. I’ve been gone for too long, and I’ve grown apart from this place because I only lived in a memory. I cannot bring myself to fully motivate myself to be a part of this new place because it’s not my old memory.

I guess I have to ask whether or not I should continue on. Heh... I probably have already reached the answer. I really shouldn’t debate this, but... I have to. For the sake of closure, I want to give one final chance to see if I want to continue living in memories, or moving on in making new memories elsewhere. The PokéAsk Community gave me so much, but... now, I feel nothing about it. I’ve just been apart for too long from this place, and I just cannot reattach.

And besides... I want to compose music. I have been invited to Twitch Dates Pokémon as a composer. I feel so happy doing music much more than art. Art feels like a burden, but music feels free.

If you guys have read this to the end, thank you for taking the time to read my pain. I will think about this in a better mind state, but for now, I’m just so tired... However, I feel like I’ve already arrived at my conclusion. I feel like I’m ready to start a new prologue in life and write the chapters as a musician. And to the older ask bloggers of the time that are still around to this day... Guide the new ask bloggers well. And thank you for everything.

1. Why did you choose your username?

My own: The reason I use Shayanbes as a username kinda derived when I was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally lil, like, real little, where I didn’t really know much at all, heck, shayanbes is shayanbest just without the t, totally not egotistical right? Yeah but tbh when I was little I just did it for the sake of it, I did a lot of things for the sake of it really and I was just carefree, but it did kinda stick on and no one else had a similar name? So I thought, fuck it why not? :D

Current blog: Eh, simply jus cause it’s a blog to ask me questions, and everyone calls me shay so uh, ye

2. What’s your middle name?

Haydan, yeah I really hate it honestly, now if they had used Soul as my middle name, Oh boy I’d love that, ya know, the name they were gunna call me in the first place? XD

3. If you could own a fairy tale / fictional pet what would it be?

Hmmm, this is a really hard question honestly...I don’t know if I can really answer that cause I just simply don’t know, sorry :c Like seriously, so many critters I wish would be real its not even funny, but honestly I can’t really answer..

4. Favourite colour?

Fuck, my favorite colour tends to change every often but I’m never gunna drop that pink or blue!

5. Favourite song?

Frick, I really like a couple but I don’t actually have a favorite, I do usually like the music I hear from games though mainly, especially phoenix wright music oh god >w< <3 Especially CORNERED

6. What are your top three fandoms?

Pokémon even though I can’t even play the newest games ;w;

League cause I’m kinda addicted to that

Ehhh, I’m easy go so I tend to welcome a lot of fandoms, even though I don’t even know much about the show or things themselves

7. Why do you enjoy tumblr?

I enjoy speaking and meeting new people really, and I’m so happy that I have, like I wouldn’t have met people such as the lovely person who tagged me :3

But it also gave me an excuse to kinda try and work on my art department with the asks and such and holy heck I did not expect to actually come as far as I have so I’m really happy about that

Sure I really don’t like how  Tumblr can be sometimes..such as the drama or how it does make me feel so left out and lonely on so many occasions but a lot of places does that so eh...Either way I’m much happier now being able to  actually have the honour to have met everyone I have here, including the people that I haven’t spoken to yet ;w;
