I was iffy about it at first but on balance I quite like the idea of her being so abhorrent to anyone with a soul that their eyes (the window to the soul) just refuse to acknowledge her presence without a conscious effort. I imagine she shows up just fine on cameras and in mirrors, like a reverse vampire.

I think of the Onyx Cloak as a separate thing rather than explaining the same phenomenon - it makes her count as 6" further away for ranged attacks, the same as spectra cloaks, whereas to live up to her description in Saturnine they'd need to make all shots against her Snap Shots (which would interestingly match the Culexus Etherium).

Given all the Space Marine units without models were taken out of the Libers and put in downloads, hopefully the addition of a bunch of new units means FW will actually make an effort with the Silent Sisterhood and release some models soon.

The Onyx Cloak

Similar in design to the more common voidsheen and voidscale cloaks, this unique artefact is composed of a metallic mesh that absorbs light, energy, and kinetic force. Shrouded in its folds, Jenetia Krole stalks the battlefield obscured from the sight of her foes and protected from their wrath, seeking the perfect moment to strike down those marked by the Emperor for death.

Four gifts this time.

Roaring Silence, Mystical Fires.

Surtr Muspelson waited at the landing zone, the few honor guard stood at the ready, though their trigger fingers twitch. The warfront was a good 18km away from here, but this human world and its warriors were quite stealthy and could cross distances quickly in their hovercraft over the dunes and fields.

The 13th Great Company of the Space Wolves were tasked with bringing this world into the fold, however the leaders here were not willing to bend their knee so easily. The 13th, along with some diplomats had made several attempts to win the Nobel Families over, to no avail.

Now, Surtr has been informed that he is receiving allies, in the form of the Sisters of Silence. Many of the 13th had only heard tales of this strange Sisterhood, of how their very presence could negate a Rune-Priests powers. Unnatural, geists, abominations. Surtr was quick to remind the Wolves of what they were, of what powers they wielded now, of how much of their bodies were still mortal flesh, of the weapons and technology they use every day. The mutterings died off quickly.

Surtr had read a little of the Sisters, asked questions to the other Praetors, what they knew of these Nulls, and their powers. He got little in return. Only that the Sisters could block the Warp and its users, dispelling incantations and rituals, and had taken a vow of silence, but for what reasons is unclear.

In orbit now, hung those Black Ships, obsidian blades that hung ominously in the skies beside the silver grey ships of the 13th. A Talion class landing craft came in low, its engines rumbling quietly as it clamps down onto the landing pad, its black claws digging into the hardened rockcrete and plasteel foundation.

“Here we go lads,, let us see who we will be working with.” Surtr takes a deep breath, hoisting up his Paragon blade and resting the tip into the plasteel plate beneath his boots.

“My Jarl, what of your Po-” one of the honor guards spoke up before getting a ribbing from his pack brother, followed by a glare.

Surtr grumbles lightly, the Honor Guard was not entirely wrong. Surtr was an Eta level Psyker in his own right, though he had rarely need of his powers. It was found out almost a decade after his promotion to Praetor that his Psychic abilities had manifested and bloomed beneath his flesh. 

Already he can feel the dull invisible thrumming coming from the landing craft, making him want to grind his teeth and tense up.

“I will endure. Worry not my Brothers. I will,, endure.”

The boarding ramp unfolds from the chin of the Talion, and the silver armored Sisters begin to exit the vessel, lead by a tall woman with flaming blood red hair, deep pale eyes that could see into a man’s soul, a deep crimson cloak with blackened and ashen fur. And wielding [Truth-bringer], Veracity.

Knight-Commander Jenetia Krole. The Left Hand of the Emperor of Mankind, stood now in arm’s reach of Surtr Muspelson.

How good are Sisters of Silence as Fighters?

Having read nearly all the Horus Heresy and 40k era books containing them, I feel that the Sisters of Silence really struggle when taking on enemies who do not derive their strength from the Warp.

-In “Serpent Beneath”, a squad of Alpha Legionnaires wipes out about a dozen Sisters of Silence with no losses to themselves. Now, while this is an top squad of Alphas, the fact remains that such a one-sided battle remains at odds with the “Emperor’s elite” the Sisters project.

-In “Nemesis”, Erebus and a group of Word Bearers easily capture a Black Ship and kill all the Sisters of inside without much resistance. The Sisters are even unable to prevent Erebus from getting his hand on a super-powerful null which he later sends on a mission to kill the Emperor.

-In “Thousand Sons”, Ahriman is able to pick off individual Sisters of Silence with his bolter and. weaken the advancing Imperial line. Again without any significant pushback,

-In “Gathering Storm 3″, while they do negate Magnus’ psyker abilities they don’t really put on much of an impressive fight against the Primarch, dying very quickly to him.

-In “Dark Imperium”, the Sisters of Silence assigned to Guilliman are dispatched rather quickly by a greater demon of Nurgle, despite their supposed expertise against such warp creatures. In fact they would have all been killed had Guilliman not intervened and killed the demon with the Emperor’s Sword.

I feel the SoS are given the “Worf effect” ie: killed off by others to show how badass and dangerous the said character is. (Which occurs quite a bit with Custodians as well). This really degrades the Sister’s status as “elite” warriors of the Emperor himself and reduces them to their status as nulls.
