Someday I'm going to write Actual Proper FAM fics, but for now...

okay, this was inspired by a line from an episode of the west wing about hardly anyone who walked on the moon still being married to the same person as before they went.

So that got me thinking about brand new astro-wife Tracy Stevens, getting warned by one of the older wives about how astronauts aren't known for being faithful... which then turned into Tracy-Karen bonding.

"I saw Marge make a beeline for you. Was she warning you off too?" "She seems to think the astronauts get carte blanche to cheat on their wives while we grin and bear it," Tracy says, before taking a drag of her cigarette and blowing a smoke ring out. "No way in hell I'd ever let that happen." Karen blinks a little at the - admittedly mild - profanity, but smiles. "She gives that speech to all the wives. I wouldn't take it personally." "You think what she says is true?" "I think Ed's not the type to cheat, and I'm not the type to divorce him." Tracy almost laughs. "Well... good for you." "She really didn't mean anything about Gordo, I can *assure* you. She's just... trying to look out for us." Tracy blows another smoke ring. "Trying to make sure we keep in line, you mean." "Well, you... you know how pilots are," Karen says, clearly trying to make up for it. "Head in the clouds." "I used to be a pilot. What does that make me?" "But you're not an astronaut." "No... I'm not." Karen smiles at her. "Marge means well, but doesn't mean we can't beat the odds." "Sure. I'm a sucker for a gamble."
