People are very willing to accept that aita shit on reddit is rage bait when it suits them to claim its rage bait while simultaneously using every story that supports their world view as gospel.
#not to say that all of them are fake#but honestly aita / reddit shit in general passes way to many filters in your head for bullshit#because you can find helpful advice there for obscure problems#and so tacking on “reddit” to your google searches has subsequently tricked you into believing its not a dumpster fire#like...#ask yourself “is this believable past my own biases?”#“is it possible that this story has been fabricated at least in part to reinforce negative/harmful ideology#/stereotypes#ask yourself why its easy to believe one story over another#when they exist in simialr post fashion with limited one-sided information#ask yourself how someone would benefit from reinforcing infighting talking points#ask yourself why all of your examples for that infighting comes from strangers on the internet and less from actual people you know
