as for head cannons, i really could not think of any it was kinda sad. i imagine marvin is not close at ALL to his given name, its not like a alexa andrew situation or something. imagine he’s been out for years n years and when he became an adult distanced himself as much as possible from his parents, trina probably didn’t find out until way later. probably when they were going to have jason (but even then i think he may have made up some lies to avoid telling her but she’s smart she figured something was up.) it was kinda a Step for him to have his hair as long as it is now, i think it was always a sore point for him, but he’s more confident in himself as he grows up so if his hair is a little longer n scraggly than usual it’s okay :]

whiz helps him w the tape of course and i think he’s a gel guy in his later years, but with whiz maybe he goes back to shots because he has someone to help him administer them now, and also he doesn’t have to hide it as much.

Falsettos 2016 Spoilers:

Ik this isn’t some big revelation but it’s pride month and I want to point this out, parallels between Act 1 and Act 2:

Act 1: The chess game represents the end of Marvin and Whizzers relationship, Whizzer winning at Marvin’s game.

Act 2. The second racket ball game represents the end of Marvin and Whizzers relationship (for other reasons), Marvin winning at Whizzers game (Ik this one is obvious)

Act 1: Marvin regrets loving both Trina and Whizzer, longing for the life he could have had if he didn’t. (I never wanted to love you)

Act 2: Marvin is extremely thankful he ever got the opportunity to love Whizzer, and thinks of how horrible his life would be if he didn’t get to love him. (What would I do)

Act 1: Whizzer sings of the ending of Marvin and his relationship, blaming himself (the games I play)

Act 2: Whizzer sings of the ending of his life, exploring the unfairness of not deserving this, but accepting it nonetheless the less (You gotta die sometime)

Act 1: Mendel has no real interest in helping Marvin (or any of his patients for that matter), just really simping over Trina ( Marvin at the Psychiatrist)

Act 2: Mendel puts it best: ‘How can I help’ asks the wirey psychiatrist (Days like this)

Act 1: Trina feels helpless and angry at Marvin and Whizzer, like everything around her is breaking down (Breaking Down)

Act 2: Trina feels helpless, because she can’t help Whizzer (holding to the ground)

Act 1: Trina says her family is breaking up, They all say their a mess (Breaking down & Everyone tells Jason to see a psychiatrist)

Act 2: the family all comes together to celebrate Jason’s Bar Mitzvah in Whizzer’s hospital room (Jason’s Bar Mitzvah)

Act 1: Marvin says that [he] want[s] it all. ( Tight knit family & reprise)

Act 2: Marvin says to Whizzer that all [he] want[s] is you. (A day in falsettoland)

Act 1: Jason thinks he resembles his father to closely (Hason at the Psychiatrist)

Act 2: Don’t know why but he looks like Marvin (Jason’s Bar Mitzvah)

Trans Whizzer

I genuinely believe, that casting a trans man as Whizzer, and having Whizzer be a trans man in a production of Falsettos would be SO INTERESTING.

AND ALSO I THINK IT WOULD FIT

Here me out

Part of Marvin’s whole issue in act one is that he keeps trying to put Whizzer into a stereotypical housewife kind of role. I mean Whizzer says it himself in The Chess Game:

Whizzer’s supposed to make the dinner / be a patsy, lost at chess / always bravely acquiesce / clip the coupons, make the dinner / and love him

Now imagine trans man Whizzer. Whizzer is dating this man, this closeted gay man. Whizzer is the reason Marvin divorced his wife. Marvin has no issue with him being trans, he sees him as a man, only for Marvin to start trying to put Whizzer in traditional feminine roles.

Like… as someone who is trans masc, this would hit SO HARD

And the thing is, it could be done PRETTY SUBTLY too

Like… if we’re thinking about the 2016 revival blocking and choreography, during Thrill of First Love, when Marvin rips open Whizzers shirt, have Whizzer wearing a binder or trans tape or other period-appropriate binding methods! Or maybe he’s already gotten top surgery and he has top surgery scars!

This is all very rambly because it was written over several days. This is also all EXTREMELY headcanon-y

But anyway those are my thoughts I have only been in this fandom for 2 weeks and I have made more posts about it than I have for fandoms I’ve been in for 10 years
