This is probably a weird question but how do you think your au’s engines would react to my monster engines?

STRAP IN STEAM THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG ASS AUTISIC RANT👁️👄👁️

(Had this one in my drafts for a few days. Sorry, I was pretty busy)

Thomas: Thinks that a monster engine version is him is super cool and would absolutely hang out with him all the time. But is absolutely weirded out by his and Lady's romantic relationship. Because, you know: Aroace MC Thomas. He questions the hell out of Monster Engine Thomas of how the fuck did he managed to pull a goddess when he is so out of her league.

Edward: Both of them at first would question the other. MC Edward wondering how in Lady's name why Monster Engine Edward is so annoyingly benevolent. And Monster Engine Edward would question why MC Edward is so radically different from him. Being more assertive but also being a....Punk Menace Mentor™️. But eventually, the two would warm up with each other and MC Edward decides to teach Monster Engine Gordon a lesson after he berates the old no 2 monster engine again. In simplest terms he.....Spiked laxatives in Monster Gordon's meal. That was not pleasant at all.

Henry: Wanted to know what happened to other him and is currently studying him like a little critter. But got confused when Monster Engine Henry told him that he and Nia are in a romantic relationship. Because in Modernly Classical, Nia doesn't exist. Only Rebecca. He is slightly concerned when Monster Engine Henry does his unnatural bending thing.

Gordon: MC Gordon hated the fact that he has to deal with a more arrogant and pompous version of him again. It's literally Stewie whenever Brian acts like a dick from Family Guy. Told Monster Engine Gordon to not insult his version of Edward in front of MC Edward. Proceeds to do the "I told you so" thing when Monster Engine Gordon got explosive diarrhea from his laxative dinner.

James: One sentence: "Bitch, I will cut you with my fencing sword if you dare to say that Sephora is ass, you braindead fuck-"

Percy: Monster Engine Percy wanted his prosthetic arm as a dog toy and they played along with it and decided to take it off and throw it at his monster engine self. MC Percy now got themselves a green caterpillar dog.

Toby: Both of them swapped their kids and are now having the time of their lives. Especially MC Toby, who is squealing over of how cute Talia and Bruno are. These two can and will go into papa wolf mode if you dare to hurt one of their respective kids.

Emily: Got extremely confused when Monster Engine Emily said that she and her version of Edward are together. In Modernly Classical, both her and Edward are gay. I have a feeling that Monster Engine Emily might misunderstand this not out of malice but because it's a new thing that she has never experienced before.

What are your favorite ttte characters and why?

I have a lot of favorite characters and this question is already answerd in my pinned post in FAQs, but since you asked why, I'll tell you:

1-James:

Of course, this is very obvious, why exactly James? Because he is the first character I saw in the fandom and I liked him very much. James, for me, is the first inhuman I loved in my life. I love him for many reasons, such as his handsomeness, his self-confidence, his arrogance, and his accent, which I cannot stand. Also if you want a lore about him, you're free to ask me.

2-Duck:

This is the second character I adore, and he is my second crush *Sniff Sniff. I love him because he is green (my favorite color) and he is very cute and he is a Genderfluid, and this makes him even cuter. He has a strong personality and does not care if anyone insults him, but it will make him angry if someone insults the Great Western. He is very handsome. And his Western English accent is killing me..

3-Gordon:

What I like about Gordon is that his personality is funny to me, and he is my favorite character when I was a child. He is very nervous and this makes me laugh a lot. He is very proud of himself because he has a job that is more important than others, and sometimes he is frowning, but in the classic series I was very scared of him for some reason. What, despite all this, he is still my favorite character

4-Marion:

Marion is my favorite female character. What I like about her is her enthusiasm, that's all, and she believes everything, and that represents me as well. Although she is a bit stupid, she loves to help anyone and is diligent in her work, and her personality is really fun and cute

5-Skiff:

He's my favorite child, even though he's a young man in my AU, but I imagine him still being a baby, I love him because he loves anything related to the sea like me, and he admires mermaids.(That's why I shipped him with Marina), and he's very adorable

Since today marks the 40th anniversary of thomas and friends (the show) I'd like to share personal story.

I first got into thomas when i was a little girl. I wasn't scared of the sudden closeups on the characters faces, or the crashes or the unmoving expressions. It was quite the opposite, i was fascinated. There was something about the vibe that drew me in. It wasnt a cartoon but it wasn't realistic either. The characters didnt have traditional voice actors yet they had a personality and charm that made me eant to see what will these guys do next.

We had tapes of the Alec Baldwin and George Carlin narrations, I used to play Make Some Happy on Repeat. I think i still have it, it's in storage and i hope to burn in onto a disc one day.

I was surprised when the show transitioned to CGI. But i still wasn't entirely against it. If anything i wanted to see where it would go. I was pleased when the show finally had dofferent VAs for the characters. Narration was great and all but i loved the idea of the guys having their own VAs and got a little tired of the female characters sounding the same. Eve. When the show started to get bad, even during the Dharon Miller era, i still got my ass up as 7 am in the morning to watch episodes on pbs kids every Sunday. I didn't care. I just liked watching colorful trains and loved seeing new characters and locations.

Thomas gotten me through some pretty rough patches in childhood, and I had a lot. It showed me a world where problems can be eaisly fixed and mistakes arent the end of the world. It taught me it was okay to ask for help, that i shouldn't tackle everything by myself. Now, you might be surprised giving i tend to criticize a lot of stuff but I am also someone who embraces change. In a way, the shoes ups and down taught me sometimes you just have ti acceot everything will not be exactly the same as you want.

It's this mindset that's currently helping me through another rough time. I admit, i was too hard all all Engins go, but watching some if the episodes I came to actually like some of it. Thought it probably helped that i got turned off by the massive backlash, I felt other fans were too harsh to the point of bein downright gross. I don't want to be like them. So i had to let go of that anger and see the positive AEG has. Ironically it was this specific incarnation that really got me into drawing fanart, which was how i came up for my Shining Time Station reboot.

Without thomas, i wouldn't have met my friends. I wouldn't have gotten back into art, since i have drawn some ttte art and even rewriting the magic railroad. Speaking of, TATMR got me into fantasy, I remmberthe first time I watched it was on HBO kids and was intrigued because it literally never referenced in the shoe and i didnt grow up with Shining Time. For all its faults I still enjoy the movie. I'm even making a custom ken doll of Junior conductor. I credit thomas for helping me find my true love with Junior, i dont care if he's fictional, he's my f/o and I care about him greatly.

As for the blue man himself, I relate to thomas a lot. We're both bossy and tempered, but we're also friendly and hardworking. We slip up and pick ourselves back up. I guess, seeing thomas handling failure has gotten me to reconsider how I've been viewing life and needing yo stop defining myself on my faults. He's flawed yet still likable and beloved, so maybe, I can have a chance too.

I used to think the color blue is overrated, moresore than pink, but thanks to rediscovering Thomas, I now admit I love the color blue. It reminds me of thomas and how i should work on improving myself and my worldviews.

So, thank you thomas and friends. Thank you for being in my childhood and reminding me Adulthood should'nt have to be a cesspool of misery. I can't wait to see what the next 40 years would bring!

Some ttte human headcanons for characters I don’t like

Rebecca: Rebecca has Parkinson’s disease, she gets tremors that she cannot control, she gets frustrated at not being able to control her body similar to her engine counterpart where she has the wheel slip issue that she cannot control. She and Henry are both members of the chronic illness club and hang out with each other as they can relate to each other with their struggles with a chronic illness. Rebecca being younger often looks up to Henry who’s older than she is. Just like her engine counterpart, she is a people pleaser to a fault and really wants to impress Gordon. She also once cried over a dish set that had a scuffed up and damaged box because she was afraid no one was going to buy it and love it, so she bought it.

Caitlin: she has ADHD and is often unaware of volume and hyperactivity. She gets frustrated when she is told to calm down because she has trouble relaxing, she also has trouble sleeping and can be a bit reckless (this includes racing down the mainline)

Connor: also has ADHD, enough said.

Sydney: after sustaining a serious head injury in a crash, he can’t form new memories. He knows who he is and his past before his injury, but other than that, he can’t remember anything. He keeps lists everywhere to try and help him remember (though he keeps forgetting to make those lists or read them) and he has sticky notes everywhere reminding him to read certain sticky notes. Percy did give him a planner to help him keep track of things, but he just forgets to either write in it, or look at it. What does seem to help is if he repeats what he needs to remember out loud, or record it on a tape recorder.

Bruno: disclaimer I have never watched AEG because I am too cultured to stoop that low, Bruno is originally from America, his parents moved to the UK when he was five, he has autism and struggles to make friends at school, he’s about primary school age and prefers watching people than playing with them. He also loves trains even though they can be too loud for him. One day he decides to skip school and go down to the yard and watch the engines instead of putting up with the kids at school and being made to play with them by his teacher (fun fact: this happened to me in second grade, my teacher assigned two girls to play with me at recess and told me to play with real friends when I introduced her to my shadow. I hated every single moment of it as recess was my time to recharge)

Then Diesel came in the yard and while he was refueling his engine, Bruno just walked up to him and asked if he could watch. Diesel had no idea what to do and was stuck with Bruno following him around all day until finally the police arrived and took Bruno home. They still hang out together after school, and Bruno likes watching him shunt in the yard and the mechanics work on his engine.

TTTE First Impressions: S6 Eps 2 and 4

Hello Train Fans of the Internet!

Now that I have this blog, I want to try and make it a habit of recording my thoughts about each episode I watch. From what I've observed, I feel like a lot of the TTTE fandom is composed of people who grew up with the show and/or continued to keep up with it until the end. And while I did watch the model series growing up, I actually don't remember anything that happened. 😅 Re-watching it now feels like watching it for the first time. And so I hope that sharing my thoughts here would provide a new perspective (or at least some entertainment).

First Episode for Discussion: Season 6 Episode 2 "Harvey to the Rescue"

This episode introduces Harvey the Crane Engine! And can I just say, I really like how Harvey's prop looks! Like, I look at him and I just want to pick him up like

I also like how they gave him more of a round, chubby face. I think it makes him look cute and distinguishes him from the others (outside of the fact that he has a crane on his boiler, but you know)

I really liked the scene where Harvey rescues Percy in the end. That was also really neat. It was cool to watch the crane move and the chains go down and the gears turning. Like, I just think it's really cool! Practical effects rule!

The one thing I found really odd about this episode is that Edward is... weirdly out of character? They have Edward among the other engines who are judging Harvey for looking weird. And I get that they're going for the whole aesop of "being different makes you special". But like, since when was Edward judgmental? He's one of the nicest engines on this railway! And yet here he's making the comment of "he doesn't even look like an engine". And like, THIS COMING FROM THE GUY WHO RESCUED TREVOR THE TRACTION ENGINE?! WHO DON'T EVEN USE RAILS?

Like I get it that it's a kids' show and you gotta get your aesop in there. But I think you can do it without making characters out-of-character. I think there are ways you could potentially have Edward be suspicious of Harvey without being outright judgy. But that's just my take.

Anyway, we also get another entry for the Jameward Relationship Timeline!

Next Episode for Discussion: Season 6 Episode 4 "A Bad Day for Harold"

You might be asking me, "Why did you skip episode 3?" I didn't. Amazon's just weird about how they published the episodes. So "No Sleep for Cranky" was published as episode 1 when really it's episode 3, and I watched it thinking it was episode 1 and "Salty's Secret" was episode 2 until I looked up the TvTropes recap.

Anyway, I liked this episode. I love Percy and Harold's dynamic and it's always a treat seeing them together. I know Percy and Thomas are the ones remembered as the Iconic Besties(tm). But in my opinion, I actually think Percy, Toby, and Harold have the most fun and interesting dynamic with each other. Particularly with Percy and Harold, I love how they're the kind of friends who will continuously butt heads and tease each other, but you know that when it comes down to it they'll have each other's backs. And that shows here in this episode too.

I like how Harold asked them to load all the mail in his net so he's "not slow like Percy". It's a neat little callback to that one time Harold roasted him and was like "you're so slow, you should give everyone their stamps back" (which, by the way, is one of my favorite roasts in the whole show so far XD).

Also I think this is Harold's first crash? I watched Seasons 1 - 5 kind of fast so if I missed one previously, feel free to correct me.

I like the little detail of Harold hovering in close to Percy to thank him. That was a nice touch.

One last thought, as much as I've been enjoying Alec Baldwin's narration so far, I do REALLY miss the buttery voice George Carlin gave to Harold. Carlin's Harold voice is so needlessly zesty and it adds so much extra flavor to his character. Kinda wish Baldwin kept going in the same direction, but I respect him doing his own thing (at least he gave us Fruity James 💅)

10. worst part of fanon:

This applies to fandoms in general but ANYTHING THAT TAKES AWAY A CHARACTER'S NUANCE/BLATANTLY MISCHARACTERIZES THEM. Characters are multifaceted, damnit. We aren't some eras of the TVS, we can be better than flanderizing the characters!

I also hate it when characters are reduced to ships. Like... they're more than that, and reducing them to just a ship or another when they're so much more makes me feel gross inside, I'll be fr. I also don't like it when ships are the only thing explored. Give me friendships! Please! I beg of you!

I'm gonna be honest, I have 0 clue what this means. Is this, like, portraying a character as someone who can do no wrong? If so, I don't think the TTTE fandom falls into that too terribly... er... I 'unno. I might need more elaboration on what you wanted answered for this one, then I might have a proper answer.

17. there should be more of this type of fic/art

i SIMPLY ADORE interesting takes on engine society, values, social structures, etc. Similarly, analysis on engines from outsider perspective? Ohhh yeah. Takes on how human society impacts engine society? Yeahhhhhh that's the good shit. Give me stuff that focuses on non-powered stock too! I'd love to see what people's coaches and trucks and vans and stuff get up to! I also really like it when characters just get to have a nice day. As much as I am a sucker for the briefness of RWS stories at times, I also adore longer form things. Like, yes, please get into the nitty gritty of the lore. I also actually don't mind focus on non-engine/rolling stock characters as side stories, and would love to hear more about people's human OCs for the RWS/TTTE universes. I also see plenty of ship art, but rarely do I see people analyzing/discussing the ships themselves. I want to hear the whys and hows and whats!

As for art in the visual and not verbal mediums, I'd love to see big wide shot scenes of multiple engines at stations doing shunting or pulling stuff or whatever else... they'd be pretty. I'd also, believe it or not, love to see more simplistic engine drawings. They might give me inspiration/make me feel better about my own stylization of engines, which, is very simplified imo.

My stories uses premises seen in @asktrio516's human-engines, such as their strength, the option to eat, and leg wheels when in human form. This does not mean in any way I'm ripping off or such, I just enjoy and agree with those aspects that I incorporate them into my stories. Plus, I feel it gives a way of thanking her for being one of my main sources of inspiration when making this.

2. What made you create this blog and get into TTTE?

Mostly because I stumbled onto @asktrio516's blog one day and then watched a lot of Unlucky Tug afterwards. I remember seeing the show as a kid, and I did remember liking it. I was mostly curious if the fandom was still kicking, and it was, as it kicked me into the rabbit-hole you are now reading.

3. Do you do art?

Not really, mostly I use Hero's Forge for visual references and write about additional factoids. I'll more likely commission someone than anything.

4. Is there a focused time where the SSER takes place?/Do you focus on the books, model era, or cgi era?

I'm not sure? BWBA and AEG does not exist in this, cause fuck Mattel, but otherwise not really? I will make a solid timeline though, as I do enjoy a timeline that doesn't mess stuff up. Character development will also be important for me, so it could depend on how I want to write out the arcs. WW2 stuff will be mentioned, alongside certain years, but it defiantly won't be modern times where cellphones and Tumblr exists. Best point I can place, if it was in a time where the SSER really kick in, it is in the surrounding years of dieselization.

If I had to pick an era for my blog...I'll be pulling from all the sources I can get, so I can fully understand the character and work from there. I will do my best to stay faithful to the source, but this is my story to tell. My biggest difference would defiantly be from TATMR, but I will still incorporate aspects from it.

5. Is there magic in this AU?

YES! Cry as I might, I still have a soft spot for TATMR.

Their main ability is to shift from engine to human forms thanks to Lady and her Golden Dust. All engines do have to be taught on how to use their abilities, but do know basic aspects of themselves (their build, basic functions, emotions, etc.). Certain aspects of their work before interacting with the Dust however, such as war, can also cause a variety of additional knowledge, such as having the ability to talk in multiple languages with little or no difficulty. Think of it as like reading to a baby before they are born. If asked what they did before the Dust was introduced, they can only remember events as a hazy dream or have no memory of it at all.

An example of this would be Oswald. He was built in America and was sent to Europe to aid in the war efforts, mostly staying in France with both English-speaking and French-speaking men working on him. Because of this, he is able to understand and speak both French and English when awoken by the Dust. He also knows he helped the Allies by pulling trains in France, but doesn't know what exactly was on his train or what occurred during.

I'm working on a story or Lady & D10, but it is going to take time so bare with me on it. Also there is such a thing as ghosts in my stories, so other mystical creatures could be seen as well.

6. What happens to and engine when they get hurt?

I go with @asktrio516's take on this, in that they can bleed a dark blood that never runs out. The blood, depending on the engine though, is different when compared: Steam engine blood is thinner or more watery to a diesel engine, which has more of an oily sheen when spilt. This also goes for other liquids too. It doesn't mean that either blood type has a negative affect on them, but it's treated similar to how humans learned not to mix blood types together.

Injuries also apply similarly, except for three key factors:

If an injury is grave enough, the ability to shift between forms is stopped until repairs or natural healing has occurred. A paper cut for example won't stop shifting, but the aftermath from a high-speed derailment or a broken limb can.

Golden Dust helps speed up the healing process, but it can still take weeks before shifting is allowed again.

Because of this, engines are required to have at least one human with them, nicknamed 'Drivermen' by the engines. They see them as a 2-in-1 of the driver and fireman roles. The engines themselves can still fuel themselves and work on their own fine, but if a injury occurs or if they need someone to go get help, the driverman would be there to fill in that need.

7. Do the engines have rights?

Well...engines aren't innately seen as people in my story. Mostly it depends on the Controller involved. Some can be father-like, like the Fat Controller or the Old Silver Controller, and others will scrap an engine without a second thought. Many do support the engines, but by a full-blown political/legal stance, they got nothing aiding them. They are seen as a sort of like pet. Very expensive pets that can talk.

All engines do want to work though, as it gives them value, but they see no use in things such as money (unless they like collecting it or something). They might be rewarded for good work with better coal or something the engine may want, but again, that is dependent on the controller the engine is working with.

Why am I still here?

For the people asking why I am still here (implying I’m in the TTTE-fandom):

I just want to make it clear once and for all: I am NOT in the TTTE-fandom and have no desire to go back. I don't want anything to do with my past stuff, it has been explained in my final blog post about it and I have nothing more to add. I want to move on and never see it again.

I actively block people on DA, even if I don’t know them, so my feed won’t get flooded with TTTE content, because DA obviously think that just because I like trains, then I MUST like TTTE too. Most TTTE content makes me sick. So well... even if writing that shitty fic and au helped me overcome some trauma, it also gained me another...

And no: I have not drawn anyone being impaled, genitals on trains or train-sex (unless you count kissing as sex...). And I certainly have NOT made a sex-doll of a TTTE-character. I don’t know why people are piling that shit on me too, isn’t my old, deleted content bad enough in its own? At least have the decency not to blame me for things I didn’t do.

As for my old content: Do I regret writing that fic? No, it helped me cope with trauma. Do I regret posting it? Yes. Very. I had no idea people would get so hung up in it with all the other vile TTTE content from other users floating around. Am I looking for forgiveness? No. I know people won’t forgive me anyway. All I want is to put it all behind me and move on. I don’t want anything to do with my old stuff. It’s like breaking up with an ex, you don’t want to see them again after all the pain they caused you.
