I'm asking this in good faith, but also in an admitted lack of full understanding. If you don't have the energy to engage with this topic anymore please disregard it.
Someone on your post noted the comparison of Israel-Palestine to that of the Native Americans, but the way I read it it seemed like they were putting Palestinians in the role of the native Americans and Israel as the colonizing force, but historically wouldn't it be the Jewish people who are the Native Americans in that comparison? I ask because from what I know it would be the Jewish people in what is now Israel at the same time in history as the Natives in the Americas. Am I misinformed about that? I'm not trying to say Palestine would be the colonizing force in that comparison btw, just that if we're talking about natives to the land, it seems to me like it'd be the Jewish people.
tbh neither maps on exactly
the expulsion of jews from what is now israel/palestine started in 70 AD and then was a gradual process over the next few hundred years as people moved out due to oppression by various rulers, poverty, etc
palestinians, as far as i understand it, likely descend from a mix of some of the jews who were left behind and arabs who conquered the land. they've been there for hundreds of years, and some families have owned the same land for all of that time
the thing about indigeneity as it's been explained to me is that it's not about origin so much as relationship to colonization. and the founding of israel was colonization -- herzl actually used that word himself in his writings.
you know the jnf? the original purpose was to exploit a feature of ottoman land law. if you planted a tree on someone's land and they didn't remove it for a certain number of years, you could claim ownership of that land. this and other methods were used to steal parcels of land from palestinians.
"your ethnicity stole the land from our ethnicity, to whom the land belongs" is a fucked up framework that seems really akin to blood and soil (as does "our ethnicity has rightful ownership of this land from ancient times, so your ethnicity needs to clear out"), but genuinely wresting ownership from individuals owners really can be said to be stealing land.
also, the nakba was a series of massacres and fighting that led to a huge influx of palestinian refugees from many areas in israel/palestine, and israel seized control of the land and homes they vacated to hand over to jews. israel used the jnf, again, to cover the ruins of many palestinian villages with trees to obscure the fact that they were ever there. in general israel built over many palestinian villages and the mindset in israel is not to know and not to think about it.
personally i think the indigeneity debate is not useful. it feels sometimes that jews think that if we can prove we lived in israel in ancient times (we did, a lot of people insist we didn't because it is inconvenient), we can justify things like the above. my position is that it does not justify it, because it is not an excuse for causing human suffering.
however, many people use a framework that is not about human suffering, but about how invading foreign jews stole the land from the "rightful" ethnic group. i don't agree with that either. especially when it becomes an excuse to support ethnic cleansing in the other direction. that is to say: they locate the crime not in the invasion but in the foreignness. such people are motivated to deny the historical fact of jewish origins in israel, because their argument is based on jewish foreignness.
but anyway, the comparison to indigenous peoples in the americas refers to the way that palestinians experienced the establishment of the state of israel -- starting with small groups of settlers, involving violence early on and then massacres, and later ethnic cleansing and displacement. cities and towns destroyed. shoved into small areas with few resources. lack of power and autonomy.
in addition, the way the early zionist leaders conceptualized themselves as enlightened europeans colonizing land with disdain for the existing residents.

It started back when he was 16.
His parents found out about him and Vlad thanks to the fruitloop being an idiot and practically outing them both. Danny was so lucky that he had planned for a situation like this. He had go-bags ready with a few changes of clothes, a thermos, some weapons, a star projector, lots of money from Sam and enough medical supplies to make a hospital jealous.
It was a good thing too, after crippling the GIW and destroying all the gear they and the Fentons had they destroyed their research and everything ghost related. Vlad at this point was already dead so he wasn't much of a concern.
Dannys had landed in an alley in a new dimension, only problem now was the parting shot his mother gave him on his back. Due to the placement of it Danny couldn't reach to treat it properly and he didn't know anyone in this dimension who could help him.
Thats when his ghost sense went off. He groaned, hoping he wouldn't have to fight a new ghost in this state when a man in a red helmet (Mask?) walked up to him and motioned for peace.
"I'm not going to hurt you." The man said gently, "I just wanna look at that injury, maybe help."
Danny stared at him. He didn't feel anything off about the guy and Danny prided himself on being a good judge of character. "Okay." He scooted himself around so his back was exposed to the stranger.
"Wow, you're really not from around here." Danny stiffened, had he been tricked? The man made no moves to hurt him, just got to work tending to his wound. The man was swift, and aside from the slight sting of an ointment he didn't recognize there was no pain at all.
Once Danny was all patched up the guy made to leave, "Wait!" Danny called out and the man halted, "Who are you?" The man turned his head to look back at him, still facing away from him, "Red Hood."
As it turned out, Red Hood was the new up and coming crime lord who everyone was talking about. He came seemingly out of nowhere and was making a lot of waves in Gothams underbelly. Gotham...so this was Dannys new haunt.
Danny wanted to protect it but...he wanted to protect Red Hood even more. So when he heard about Red Hood forming a gang he made a decision. He gathered up materials to make his own supervillian outfit- basically an all black outfit with a long hooded coat and combat boots- and to add the finishing touch he put on a all white gas mask that he had made himself, complete with a voice modulator, night vision, heat vision, etc. If Hood ever wanted him to prove it was him he could make his mask glow using his ghost powers. Not that it was needed. Hood seemed to be able to sense him in a similar way that Danny could but in a much much smaller range.
With that being said, hoods men didn't trust him at first, which was fair considering he just started randomly appearing at their operations and helping them out...by force usually. They weren't sure what to make of him but Danny didn't want to go through the usual goon enlistment process as Hood would want to know his name and face and everything else and Phantom was...well a phantom.
Danny liked to hide, even in plain sight. He couldn't deny the little game of cat and mouse they had was fun. Hood would try to follow him home or track him or get him to take off the mask and Phantom would dodge his attempts every time.
It took a while, but Red Hood did eventually come to trust him, going so far as to make Danny his right hand man after 3 years of working together, though that may also be because he had rarely failed any of the tasks Hood had given him.
Maybe thats why he never told any of the bats about him. He had picked up that there was something between Hood and the bats but he never could figure out what it was without prying into his bosses personal life. Still, it was rather shocking when Red Hood showed up one day with a large red bat symbol splayed across his chest.
It also made him look at how freaking chiseled his boss was. He couldn't count how many times he had to drag his eyes away from his abs and chastise himself for thinking that way.
Danny was in love with a man whos face he would never see. But that was fine. He was happier standing by this man's side and yearning than he ever was back in Amity and it wasn't like Hood knew his face or name either.
-----------
He felt like a halfa though an incomplete one. He had a core but it felt hollow, like the soul was forcibly removed somehow and only emotions remained. Hood gained a bad reputation for flying into a monstrous rage but was always calm when Danny was near, a fact that even Red Hood himself seemed to pick up on.
Hood began to fall for his second in command pretty quickly, always trying to feed him and take care of him (as is his love language) while Danny was openly obsessed with assuring Hoods safety and well being even going so far as to use his powers (that no one knows about) to overshadow a computer and hack into the bats systems to make sure Hood was okay after a prolonged period of him being MIA.
The bats are freaked but Danny being Danny gets lucky and they always seem to miss his trail by a hair. Lucky ghost.
Things start going sideways when Fenton tech starts showing up in this new dimension only for Danny to find out his parents have remade the portal and are looking for him. The bats are being hunted by his parents and and the now rogue government agency the GIW. Danny tries to explain things to Hood without compromising his own secrets but once the newest Robin gets captured and Hood freaks Danny puts everything on the line to go rescue the stabby bird.

"Alec," his mother squints at him on his laptop screen. "Is everything okay? You’re scaring us."
"It’s nothing to be scared of," Alec reassures her quickly.
"Are you sure, dude?" Jace frowns, adjusting his hair using his laptop camera. "Because the last time you called for a family meeting, it was when you had that kidney stone removed."
"Actually, I called that meeting," Izzy points out, not bothering to turn on her video, probably still in bed. "Alec didn’t even bother to tell us about being hospitalized."
"Oh, that’s right," Jace glares at Alec in disapproval, then his expression softens. "The last family meeting you called was when you came out."
Alec doesn’t know about other gay people, but coming out to your family on a Zoom call is the best way to do it. If it goes really well, then good. You have footage of a really sweet moment. You can even put it on YouTube like Aline did and get invited to the Ellen Show.
If it doesn’t go well...then you can just end the call right there - or tell your parents your account got hacked. It's not as if they're going to know the difference.
"Wait a minute," Dad frowns slowly. "Are you coming out again?"
"Why would he come out again, Robert? We know he's gay!" Mom rolls her eyes.
"Well, sexuality is a fluid thing," Dad huffs out, never missing an opportunity to show off whatever he learned from some queer TikTok influencer. Someone probably needs to do an intervention soon. "Maybe Alec is bi now. Or he is trans."
"If Alec is trans, we shouldn’t say 'he,' it should be 'she,'" Jace points out.
"Trans people don’t have to be male or female," Izzy rolls her eyes. "What if Alec is non-binary?"
"Non-binary," Dad nods sagely. "Also commonly known as NB."
"Well, whatever it is, we support Alec," Mom speaks for everyone.
"That’s great," Alec tells them. "Can Alec talk now?"

What do you think of Bee-lzebub × Loona (× Vortex?) as a ship?
I think they're so cute! Especially if its Bee/Loona/Tex. I would not be disappointed if that became a thing in canon, but if it was just a platonic Bee/Loona/Tex, I would be happy with that too.
I just want Loona to have a nice big support group. I remember reading some Helluva Boss fun facts and one of them is that Hellhounds have a very tight knit community, and that Loona's anti-socialness is actually very outside of the norm. I figure it probably has something to do with her backstory/upbringing, but I just want her to have people around her that she loves and trusts (outside of I.M.P, of course).
I also love the ship because then we have Blitz who's dating a Goetia (Stola), Blitz's friend, Fizz, who's dating a sin (Ozzie), and then Blitz's daughter dating another sin (Bee), and then his co-workers Millie and Moxie who in and of themselves are as much of a power couple as any of the others. Like??? It just runs in the family, I guess.
#what's the ship name for Bee/Loona/Tex?#i think its really cute tho#definitely ship it#and I just like the running theme of the higher class dating the lower class#and breaking social and hierarchal norms#I.M.P truly does not give a shit#they're a bunch of messes that's for sure#they don't have their shit together#and that's why they don't give a shit#because to give a shit you have to have your shit together#its logic#helluva loona#loona#helluva boss loona#beezlebub#helluvaboss#beelzebub#helluva boss beelzebub#helluva beelzebub#tex helluva boss#helluva tex#Loon x Bee x Tex#asks#anon#anonymous

Ok so, I came across your tag of "Ruins, Runes, and Loons" BUT I NEED CONTEXT PLEEEEEASE
Heeeeeeeeey
Okay okay I've been meaning to explain this for a while but I kinda got yoinked back into the undertale hellhole (/aff).
Ruins, Runes, and Loons is a TSAMS-Inspired AU in which it takes the characters like Sun, Moon, Lunar, Eclipse, etc. and reimagines them in a semi-post-apocalyptic setting.
A world that was kind of fucked over to the point where mostly atomatons and machinery rule the slowly-decaying world.
The story follows a Sun and Moon pair (YES, there is multiples of them- this can be explained later on (if my brain allows me lol)) embarking on a journey to fix a security glitch that is slowly eating up Moon's mind/code.
There will be violence, possible gore, lots of drama, and a lot of found family (because haha I like indulging myself)!
I have a full google doc detailing the plot and what's gonna be happening in the story, but for now I will try and (slowly) update the AU as I go ^^ For now, there is a little preview/prologue/whatever intro comic to the series that I posted called "It's Fine"! ^^ Feel free to check it out :D
TDLR; This is a DCA-centric AU which is a reimagined retelling of the TSAMS series (vaguely up until Killcode was introduced).

I can't stop thinking abt frankie loon. frankie looooooooooooooon such a cute design. I really love your dt47 designs and thoughts
aa that makes me really happy to hear!!! thank you so much !!
heres also a vague timeline for them as well
during frankie's teen and adult years, they really enjoy taking as many different classes as possible to learn as much as possible. a lot of dt17 fans (because they're basing on dt17) make him focused on fish/marine biology, but i really like how much he wants to learn about EVERYTHING in the comics! It's to show how "eccentric" it is but i genuinely admire how much he tries to do things even if he's not really the best at it (lol).
Post-Phoebe (della) going missing, Frankie actively tries to communicate with Graham (scrooge) because he wants to know what happened beyond Percy (donald)'s vague warnings against him. Graham just sends them away on odd jobs to keep them occupied and away. Sending them to an abandoned laboratory that falls apart which makes them end up on an island with the Chimera Crystal is a genuine accident.
But after Frankie gets back (Ollie/gladstone Also ended up stranded in the sea, and his luck got them both a rescue ship), Graham lets them work as a janitor in the lab so that he can save up to go to community college again (and give them an opportunity to pursue things they're interested in because he's really sorry about what happened but won't say it)
Frankie and Sydney/Fenton are pals ( ̄▽ ̄)👍
#fethry duck#frankie loon#dt47#ducktales au#plant talk#thank you SOOO MUCH for the dt47 ask <3#it makes me really happy to hear that people think about my projects and stuff. its really motivatin!!

I want you to think about how it must feel for a queer person who was raised in a conservative Christian family that taught them to hate queer people and once they came out was disowned by their family only to be called a “cultural Christian” by someone who doesn’t even know them. I want you to think about how much that hurts to be told that they are still part of the culture that abused and marginalized them. I want you to think that.
I think sometimes our life experiences can affect how we hear things and are able to engage with certain topics. I think if you need to step back from, block, or filter those conversations it's more than okay. However, the wider dynamics of power and oppression don't stop because of one's trauma. I know this doesn't feel good to hear, but there's more at play here than how things feel.
Many, many, people all over the world are still part of cultures that abused and marginalized them. And Christian culture, in the US, is not just Christianity. It's comprised significantly by secular people, atheists, and by folks who are nominally Christian but don't really go to church. I am very open to hearing another term for this culture that does not use the word "Christian," but no one has provided one. Largely I think because people are unable to conceptualize that it exists. I think there are two paths here. One is to recognize that engaging in these conversations is not good for you and put things like "cultural christian," "culturally christian," and "christmas discourse" on your blacklist. The other is zooming out a little and understanding that this conversation is not about labelling individuals but about describing power dynamics. It's okay if your trauma means that these aren't safe conversations for you, but your trauma does not mean that it is okay to silence people talking about the power dynamics and axes of oppress that marginalize them.

If you don't mind me asking, which lines of the Minnesota poem are tattooed on you?
all of them! the whole thing. lemme find a photo
it's brand new here so it's pretty red but here it is! the writing faded out into grey so it would look like a handwritten letter.
#gav gab#gav answers#i live in canada and i have been asked several times#if the tattoo is of manitoba#my theory is that they register the loon#and the fact that it's the shape of a place#and then they see that there is capitalized word that begins with m and ends in a#and they think oh that must be manitoba

Okay I'm genuinely curious. What's your favourite thing about loon birds? :)
Oh, I can't just pick one!
First, their call, the one that starts low, spikes up to a high note, then fades out. Genuinely haunting but oh so beautiful. The best part is that it's not even meant to be sad, it's a way to call out to other loons, "I'm here, where are you?" Like one big game of Marco Polo!
Second, their swimming ability. Their feet are situated on the sides of their body instead of directly under, the propellors of a boat, so their swimming far exceeds that of a duck or goose. (Unfortunately, that also means that their walking ability is nonexistent. They only choose to shuffle up on land for nesting purposes, which is brief. Mother Nature did 'em dirty 😔)
Third, their designs. All four species are rather similar (majority black feathers with white dots and white underbelly) with slight variation, which is self-evident in the names: Common loon, red-throated loon, yellow-billed loon, and black-throated loon. (I'm partial to the common loon, because of the neck band.) With the combo of black and white feathers, it makes their red eyes POP! So eye-catching, so distinctive, when you look at a loon, you know it's a loon.
Fourth, their name. Associated with a silly, perhaps crazy person, but done so in a leisurely manner, rarely an insult and more of a friendly remark.
And last but not least, like many other waterfowl, they carry around their babies on the water like this:
Thanks for the ask!
#loons#waterfowl#common loon#loon chicks#ask#if given the opportunity i would name a loon Watchman#regardless of gender
