Leonor is putting an impressive number of engagements before getting in the navy. In a way I wish more European royals would feel the pressure the Spanish do, because it’s embarrassing to see a teenager work more than actual monarchs and constistently giving more relevant speeches than middle aged people. It’s actually good for these privileged people to know their position is not set in stone.

I was going to go into depth about why you shouldn't compare families etc but let's just fact check this first. The only family that has an official, public record of engagements is the Brits (one of the many many reasons you don't compare wildly different situations) so the best you can do with other royal families is use their website. As far as I can tell from Casa Real Leonor has done 9 engagements this year. You state that she's doing "more than actual monarchs" and I'd love to know which monarchs have done less than 9 engagements since January because I can't think of any. Harald did more than that in June alone and he's 87 and just had a pacemaker implanted lol.

I also find the statement that she is "constistently giving more relevant speeches than middle aged people" to be odd. Relevant means appropriate. We're not the intended audience for the vast majority of speeches so unless unless it's egregious - like talking exclusively about Botswana during a visit to Hungary - how can we judge what's more or less relevant? We can say if we liked the speeches or not, sure. You could say if it's relevant to you and your life (for example I don't enjoy military related speeches because I'm not a fan of the military so it isn't relevant to me personally). But I'm not a German politician or a business person from Japan, how would I know what's relevant to them if they're the kind of intended audience, which they generally are for older royals compared to the young royals whose speeches tend to be aimed at the general public through events like National Days or birthdays? What exact passages in Leonor's speeches make them more relevant than those given by older people?

None of this is in any way a criticism of Leonor. I'm not Spanish but as an outsider she seems like a kind, intelligent, confident, mature young woman and a credit to her parents. Again, as an outsider, I'd say she's doing an excellent job. But it's totally unfair to use her to put down people in vastly different circumstances using inaccurate information and criticisms neither you nor I are actually qualified to make. The next generation are coming into their own and we have the chance to make sure they become leaders who are recognised for their own strengths and criticised for their own failings.

Of course royals need to know that their position is determined by us, the people. But if I've learned anything from our WW2 and abdication episodes of the podcast it's that the most successful royals are those who are motivated by a recognition that their job is an honour and they have a responsibility to the public, not those who are scared of losing their ponies.

Mademoiselle Leonore is nude in this picture (worth noting that her body is much worse for wear after the fire- but still intact!) so you can get a good look at her construction. her body and head weren't originally paired together but they are appropriate for each other age-wise

she miiiiight be currently awaiting repairs from when I knocked her off the bookshelf by accident yesterday and pre-existing mended breaks on her shoulderplate broke all over again. I think water damage from the fire loosened the old glue. oops- at least it's easily fixed!

Thoughts on the Anniversary portraits???

I absolutely adored them and didn’t expect them so soon! If you had to pick your top three which would they be and why? 🫶

We now know what their Christmas card will be, 🤪, another picture taken at this session.

I had no expectations so I was very (pleasantly!) surprised.

I really like that they are family photos and not only photos of the couple.

My top one is undoubtedly the next one. I read in a magazine that the 2 photos of Letizia and her daughters showcase that she's the rock of her nuclear family and I agree. It's fascinating to see her daughters growing up and starting to "take care" of her in public.

I find it really hard to choose two other photos for a top 3, I find something I like in every other photo!

Her best friends are Leah, Robin, Gus, Evelyn, Willy, Pierre and Kent.

She gets kinda along with everyone, the last thing she wants is causing drama and conflicts. She can't really connect with the younger bachelors for some reason. She gets along with Sam the best however.

Leonore isn't someone who likes to fight, she avoids the people. She's very suspicious towards Mr Qi.

She developed feelings for Elliott pretty late. After a long journey of self-reflection, she "let" herself fall in love again. Hard.

Leonore found herself be enamoured with his romatic ways. At first, she thought his personality was over-the-top, too much; just straight up out of a romance novel. The more she got to know him, the more she realised, how kind and attentive he was to her - something her previous relationship didn't had. He encouraged her to stick to her passion and to be not too shy about it, since he saw what a talented dancer she is. He knew her worth and it took his actions and words to really show it to her. She didn't mind his more dramatic side, she got used to his personality fast. In the end, everything fell into the right places and she loved everything about him.

After they've married in Year 3 (and after his first book tour), Leonore continues to take care of the farm with Elliott supporting her; he's also buys with other projects he'd like to publish. When both are finished with their duties of the day, they spent some time together - sometimes they go to Willy to check up on him (and fish together), go on a little date or just relax on the couch with Elliott reading while she looks over his shoulder (usually she falls asleep with Elliott bringing her to bed).

Leonore is too scared of having children; the fact that she sometimes gets plagued by dreams where she's a mother doesn't make it easier for her. Maybe it might change with her being married with Elliott? Who knows~? Sorry for answering so late, got a really nasty cold and had to recover from it first TwT. Thanks for the question!

Igual conviene que a Juan Carlos lo traigan a España y lo tengan encerrado en una habitación en la Zarzuela sin posibilidad de comunicarse con el mundo externo. Y de qué va a servir si tampoco parece que Felipe lo controle. Yo no sé si busca protagonismo, tal vez, busca otra cosa. Lo que sí creo es que resiente todo el tema de la abdicación y el cambio radical en su imagen. Una parte de mi cree que intenta salvar su *legado* y que piensa bastante en como le van a ver en el futuro. Dicho esto, esta historia es surrealista y va más allá de si Revilla cae bien o no.

what’s their song? whatever was playing through the wall in this scene, obviously !! ksdfjhsdf i have been chewing on this (and listening to various playlists), and i think there are a few that have the right vibe. my first thought was “it has to be a chili peppers song, clearly,” and i think “don’t forget me” is a good contender—sure, it’s about drugs like all of their best songs, but it always makes me think of relationships that are thrilling and raw and perhaps not the wisest in the long run; another one that stood out to me is “after dinner” by unloved, which just feels like a very leonor pov song; relatedly, maybe an even better fit but listed last because it just occurred to me, would be “french kiss” by sleep thieves. exhibit a: "i want to fall with you, fall faster, fall closer now, see the world and fuck all of that and let it go / along with you" ... perfect? perfect (EDIT: lana, obviously ???? alexa play "burning desire" … no, alexa play “peppers” ???)

what do they tease each other about? i’ve shown this a bit, but i feel like the biggest source of teasing must be how different their backgrounds are. that’s part of what i find interesting about them, that there’s a veneer of mutual understanding, but their upbringings and worldviews and ways of moving in the world are so disparate. so far, leonor’s on the receiving end—which, yeah, she is very much a pampered princess who doesn’t know anything about anything and acts snotty, which is funny if you’re a Normal person in comparison. renzo is also, in comparison, much more coarse and rude, which i think leonor finds amusing. plus, there’s the fact that it’s easier to joke about something dissonant than, like, treat it seriously. 

what is their favorite non-sexual activity?   surely anything can be a sexual activity if you're just Like That but i digress sdfsg i like this one because obviously there’s a whole bunch of hanging out and such that’s happening off-screen ! my first thought was that they must go to non-den events together—you know, open mics, music or performance art shows, things like that. renzo’s always alert to low-key, intimate goings-on that he can slip into and just vibe; i feel like leonor must enjoy the same, too. aside from that, going to bookstores and watching movies at home—hers or his, doesn’t matter. leonor has not seen a lot of stuff, and it’s probably in part a compromise for the fact that he refuses to watch anything he’s been in. it’s either go-go-go or just sitting around quietly for them, imo, and it's usually leonor following him around and doing whatever he's up to.

Yes indeed they are! Viktoria Louise’s daughter was Princess Frederica of Hanover who, when married, became Queen Frederica of Greece. Frederica’s daughter was Princess Sofia of Greece who, when married, became Queen Sofia of Spain. She is Leonor’s grandmother today. This makes Leonor Viktoria Louise’s Great-Great Granddaughter.

Hi, happy new year! When it comes to heirs to the throne, who do you think is being better prepared? And what do you think of Leonor’s preparation so far?

Happy New Year to you as well! I'll be honest, I am quite tired so this reply may not be very good, but I tried. I liked this one though. Thanks for asking!

When it comes to heirs to the throne, who do you think is being better prepared?

It is kind of hard to argue which teenage heir is more prepared because each monarchy and country is different, which impacts how each royal family operates. While the Spanish monarchy isn't on its last legs as some believe, they cannot afford easily avoidable controversies (re: the Dutch vacationing in Greece during COVID) nor would pictures of Leonor or Sofía carrying a luxury brand bag be well received by the Spanish public. Each heir has different expectations depending on their country. Amalia doesn't need to enter the military because there's no link between the monarch and the military in the Netherlands, but this is seen as the standard for many monarchies (because of the monarch's role of the military). Also, if the country is typically in favor of their monarchy (re: Norway) then there is also less stress for perfection at a younger age. So because of this it is hard to fully compare until possibly each heir is more "established." That being said... I think if you asked each of the teenage heirs about duty, service and leadership, one of the better answers would come from Leonor.

And what do you think of Leonor’s preparation so far?

Felipe and Letizia have done a wonderful job adjusting Leonor to being a public figure. Though, her circumstances are also different! She bears the name of two foundations that give her an opportunity to hone in some communicative and leadership skills. They have also done little things, such as utilizing their vacations to highlight local communities, since the girls were young to show the girls who they're serving (plus I'm sure having the fam there helps bring in some new visitors for the places!). Some thought Leonor's military training plan was extensive, but it makes sense considering the close ties between not only the monarch and the military, but Spain and its Armed Forces. Leonor may not be ready per se to become Queen right this second, but she surely is becoming a trusted leader in her own right. Before you know it, she'll be just like Felipe and Letizia with a packed agenda!
