My Adventure 02 Epilogue Evolution Lines ~ Part 2
Part 1
If you're here, I'm assuming you have context. But if not, click the part 1 link above.
Let's start with T.K's son:
Tokomon -> Patamon -> Unimon -> Chirinmon -> Mitamamon
Okay, so fair warning, Kai and two other kids in this post share the same Rookie partner as their parents, there isn't much wiggle room when they've already been given In-training Digimon. What can you do, right? So I figured, let's focus more on the animal aspects of Patamon, rather than digivolving him into yet another beautiful variant of Angemon.
Once I discovered Chirinmon and Mitamamon, I knew they were the Ultimate and Mega stage I was looking for, especially since they're both holy Digimon. The problem was finding a Champion level to bridge Patamon to Chirinmon. My initial response was Pegasusmon, and while I do still think he'd be a perfect fit, T.K's Patamon had already digivolved into Pegasusmon in Adventure 02 and T.K and Kai were already sharing a Rookie, I didn't want their partners digivolutions to look too identical. Then I remembered Unimon, whose hair is the same color as Patamon, which was good enough for me. Plus, Unimon is a callback to the one Joe faced in Digimon Adventure when Gomamon digivolved for the first time.
Now, Kari and Hiroshi's son:
Nyaromon -> Salamon -> Mikemon -> Beautymon -> Mastemon
Now you're probably asking yourself, who the duck is Hiroshi? Remember the Dark Spore children from Digimon Adventure 02, and how one of them wanted to be a magna artist? Yeah, that guy.
Takari/Daikari fans, don't kill me! I'm just making my WIP as canon adjacent as possible, and it doesn't seem that Kari ended up marrying T.K or Davis by the end of the epilogue. Doesn't mean things can't change though, after all, Kari is divorced in the beginning of my WIP. 😉
Moving on to more important matters, Hideaki's Rookie was already decided for him in the Epilogue. And I couldn't have his Salamon digivolve into Gatomon and completely copy that digivolution line. Mikemon is said to come into fruition due to the data of Nyaromon sleeping in Salamon before re-manifesting in the Champion level. Since Hideaki is the first of the next gen Digidestined to have a Rookie level, you could chalk this up as his Nyaromon digivolving into Salamon prematurely. Mikemon's usual Ultimate level is Beastmon, who I feel will be more suited for a dark digivolution path once Hideaki crosses that bridge. Afterwards, I felt it'd be appropriate if Mikemon digivolved into Beautymon, (Beautymon and the Beastmon, anyone?) a knight appmon from Appmon who resembles Angewomon. The dark angel look it has going on is a perfect segue into Mastemon, an angel Digimon who controls both light and darkness. Seeing as Hideaki will have the Crest of Redemption, Mastemon could symbolize the embracing of both light and darkness within.
Davis' child:
Demiveemon -> Veemon -> Veedramon -> AeroVeedron -> Ulforce Veedramon
Art by @/hapuriainen, from their Digital Character Creator on deviantart
Spoiler alert, I'm making Davis' son trans because I want a female goggle-head leader for once. Is that too much to ask? Hell, while we're at it, Tamiko's Veemon is also a female. What are you gonna do about it? Trans rights!
Anyway, lol, this was the easiest because this is the only complete digivolution line Veemon has. Karn EX just happened to have the same idea as I did, lol.
Ken and Yolei's children:
Top Left: Poromon -> Hyokomon -> Buraimon -> Butenmon -> Chronomon
Bottom Left: Leafmon -> Puroromon -> Morphomon
Top Right: Minomon -> Kunemon -> Kuwagamon -> MetalLifeKuwagamon -> GrandisKuwagamon
I took Karn EX's idea for a Hyokomon evolution with Inori (their oldest daughter), and thank God for the video, I was originally gonna give her a Hawkmon and try to differentiate it from Yolei's Hawkmon. I have no other notes, it's perfect.
For the youngest baby girl, Kotone, I figured to give her a different In-training Digimon from her brother. Since in the WIP, Kotone's only four, there won't be much of her and her partner adventuring in the Digital World, so for a while they'll just be Morphomon (until the time skip 😉).
And for the only boy, the middle child, Renjiro, I did take Karn EX's idea of using Kunemon, but decided on a different digivolution past the Rookie stage. Kuwagamon is a callback to the very first episode of Digimon Adventure. As for the Ultimates and Megas, there aren't many options without having overlap and while I was very tempted to use BranchoStingmon, I felt that would be a better suited Mega for Ken's Wormmon.
Last, but not least, Cody's daughter:
Upamon -> Tapiramon -> Rhinomon -> Mammothmon -> Goddramon
I literally came up with this yesterday. Prior to yesterday, had you asked me about which was my least favorite, I would've said it was my original digivolution line for Cody's daughter, Akira. Now, it's one of my favorites.
Upamon to Tapiramon seemed plausible, and I originally wanted to use Goddramon as the Mega, but once again, the problems I had were with filling in the blanks. Baluchimon, I still believe, is a very perfect fit for a Champion digivolution, while Mammothmon is a perfect fit for a viable Ultimate. But Baluchimon to Mammothmon, to me, doesn't really work. Originally, I got rid of both Mammothmon and Goddramon and had Baluchimon to Rhinomon (portrayed as an Ultimate in one video game and as a Champion in another, despite being an Armor digivolution) then to Huanglongmon but I wasn't completely satisfied with that. So, I got rid of Baluchimon, made Rhinomon the Champion level, and put Goddramon back where it belonged.
Tapiramon and Goddramon are nice callbacks to Digimon Adventure Tri (with Mammothmon being a callback to the one Sora and Garudamon faced in Digimon Adventure). The fact that they're both holy Digimon is also a subtle reference to Shakkoumon, a rumored ancient angel Digimon and a DNA Digivolution between Angemon and Ankylamon from Digimon Adventure 02. The gold armor on Rhinomon also resembles Armadillomon, Ankylamon, and Digmon.
Next post will probably either be about what my takes on the families/careers are for the Epilogue, what I think the full digivolution lines are for Davis, Yolei, and Cody (and what their crests would be), or my ideas for a Frontier sequel.

I’d love to hear your reasoning for some digimon partners!!! especially giving empanada veemon & pepito a caprimon that digivolves to gotsumon :D
AN EXCELLENT QUESTION ALLOW ME TO ANSWER.
Chayanne got the hyokomon like since it's a yellow chicken and training to be a warrior. They have similar motivations and personalities, I thought they would work together very well. I also considered giving him wormmon, but the reasoning was very loose so I decided otherwise.
Tallulah gets the gekomon line since they're musically based. I think the change from Otamamon to Gekomon parallels Tallulah's journey of love as well. I keep thinking about Tallulah in that attic holding onto Otamamon's egg, okay?
Dapper and Pomme's digimon don't really match with their personality or motivation or anything, but instead its more of a destiny thing! Lopmon and Terriermon always come together and so Dapper and Pomme are linked by fate. Its also one of those situations where it feels like Dapper should have Terriermon and Pomme have Lopmon, but it feels correct this way. Also. French Sniper. Gargomon has big guns.
Ramón got monimon because a little ninja TV that spies on people feels VERY fitting for that family. Monimon and Hagurumon are also very dumb on their own, but that wouldn't bother Ramón too much, I think. I also considered giving him the Kakkinmon line, since they are shield digimon, but I couldn't resist how cute Monimon was.
Leo got dogs. That's pretty much it. They struggle to get attached but once they do they are very attatched to their tamers, you know? Wolf. I also considered giving her Gabumon but I think her personality would overpower him too much.
Richarlyson got the Gomamon line purely because their mischief would line up PERFECTLY. Tell me Gomamon from Adventures WOULDN'T try to set up people on dates. I also thought about giving him Renamon but I.. don't quite remember why? Big protector? I guess?
For Pepito, its a Caprimon into a Gattsumon mostly because I couldn't find a preevolution for Gattsumon. I chose Gattsumon (because it's my favorite) because it feels very childlike, and very protective, and I think that's what Pepito needs. Gattsumon would color with Pepito. I can't explain it. I also considered Upamon and Armadillomon, since Upamon is a axolotl, but I couldn't resist my favorite rock baby.
Empanada got the Veemon line because I feel like their enthusiasm would align very well! They love to love and won't back down, you know? Also imagine Empa carrying Demiveemon like a stuffed animal. Exactly.
Sunny got Bowmon and Herissmon not only to match with Leo, but also because of how Herissmon avoids combat and runs/hides. And I think that it could keep our sunshine princess safe. I also thought about giving her Impmon, actually. Despite his demonic attitude, Impmon is actually such a sweet digimon to his trainers and also very lonely, which pairs with Sunny's feelings very well. Also, I imagine that Impmon's attempts at "warming up friends" wouldn't turn out so well and frankly would make things worse lmao. But I chose against Impmon for some reason. Weird.
Chunsik was a difficult one, I had a hard time finding anything for him. The bear was cute and protective and Chunsik is cute and tiny. Also, Wanyamon gets attached to people if they love him like an animal and. Chunsik is named after a cat, so. It was funny.
And finally Nacho. The Shaomon line is an artificial digimon that can't evolve past a certain point, gets attached very easily, and is very very loyal to their tamer. It fits very well. I also considered Pawn Chessmon (White) for obvious reasons, or Gammamon, for being a white dinosaur.
Thank you for the ask I am so thrilled does anyone else have a question 🖊

Ok, I wanted to get this up for Pride Month, but a lot was going on, including me changing what I wanted to write a few times, but I finally got something!
Tbh I've had a headcanon of trans guy Davis ever since my 02 rewatch a few years back, mostly sparked by an line from the Adventure 02 dub where Davis loudly and happily proclaims himself as "one of the guys" after getting the Digi-Egg of Friendship. I love that moment and it has just, cemented itself as a headcanon for me. So uh, you can check it out at the link, or I'll post it under a read more, and I hope y'all enjoy!
Summary: After an excited outburst the day prior, Davis finally decides to tell their group of DigiDestined just who he is. Tags: Trans Male Character, Coming Out, Post Episode 11 (The Storm of Friendship), Dub names
Yesterday had been exhausting, with rescuing Agumon from the Digimon Emperor— from Ken Ichijouji— and getting a second Digi-Egg. That was just scratching the surface of it, too, considering all the shouting that had gone on between him and TK and him and Matt.
But amidst all the fighting and the chaos and the frustration, there had been one thing that he continued to turn over in his mind ever since they got back to their world.
Tai had called him a good friend. Matt gave him a noogie. It was everything he could’ve dreamed of. In his sheer happiness he couldn’t help but shout out to his partner that he really was one of the guys now.
And that had been burned into his thoughts ever since. Even at dinner, and even well after DemiVeemon had fallen asleep and he stared at the ceiling in the dark.
Tai had always been one of the few people to truly respect him and accept who he was, but to get that same respect from Matt, one of the two coolest people he knew? He really was on cloud nine.
But just as much as he had been on cloud nine, his brain had been in overdrive thinking ever since he had shouted out “I’m one of the guys now!”
Was now the time to tell everyone? Out of all the DigiDestined, only Tai and Kari knew. Kari insisted that the others would accept him, would also still see him the same, but as he was on his way to school, still munching on a piece of toast, he couldn’t help but wonder.
As much as he didn’t like TK, he knew he wasn’t a bad person. Cody was a strange kid who he could never get a read on, but he wasn’t a bad kid by any means— the furthest thing from it, really. And Yolei… Well, she was loud, brash, and liked to rag on him, but only when he aggravated her first. If he told them, it wouldn’t go bad… right? Certainly not like with his dad, right?
It had gone so well with Tai and Kari. He still remembered the after school soccer game he met the siblings at, when he loudly told them his name was Davis and that he was a boy. He had found a hero and a friend in an instant, and whenever there was trouble with his own parents, he was always welcome at the Kamiya household. Maybe the food wasn’t the tastiest, but there was always a lot of it, at least.
He knew he had a friend and supporter in Kari no matter what, but he couldn’t help but be… scared when he thought about telling everyone else.
Kari was standing by the gates to the school, and as soon as he saw her, the smile on his face grew twice as wide and he ran over.
“Hey! Kari!” he shouted to her, putting his hands on his legs to keep himself standing and steady while he caught his breath. She laughed gently at how he nearly tripped over to reach her between the crowd of other students arriving, and as he looked up at her, that beaming smile was still on his face.
“How are you holding up after yesterday?” she asked. Davis let out a long groan.
“Ugh, I’m so tired. Armor Digivolving is tough work.”
DemiVeemon popped his head out of Davis’s backpack, “Hey! I was the one who actually Digivolved!” he squeaked out. Davis turned his head to look at his partner, a guilty, sheepish smile on his face.
“W-Well I had to pick up the Digi-Egg!” he stammered out, feeling his face go flush.
Kari couldn’t help but laugh, which caused Davis to get distracted from his playful spat with his Digimon partner.
“What about you?” he asked, shooting her a kind smile.
“I’m alright. I probably could’ve slept all day,” she sighed, “Tai’s doing good, at least. I’m really relieved about that.”
“That’s good, but you should make sure you get your rest! We can take a day off from the Digital World after how badly we just beat that stupid Emperor,” Davis said, clenching a fist in determination, which DemiVeemon copied.
“Do you have to shout about the Digimon Emperor and the Digital World loud enough for everyone to hear?”
Davis recognized Yolei’s voice anywhere, and he felt himself start to deflate from how triumphant he felt just a few moments ago.
She, TK, and Cody walked over, with their own Digimon poking out of their backpacks.
“I swear, with how loud you are, everyone is gonna know about the Digital World,” Yolei sighed. Kari and TK couldn’t help but chuckle.
“I mean, I kind of agree with him about taking the day off,” TK shrugged, “We could use at least one day after dealing with everything that happened with Agumon.
“It would be nice…” Cody mused, putting his hand to his chin in thought, “I haven’t been able to train with grandpa nearly as much lately…”
“Well, thanks for so graciously giving us the day off,” Kari teased. Davis rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
“Well I’m happy to help, Kari! Anytime!” he said, following up with a loud laugh that caused numerous other students to look their way.
Yolei clapped her hands, “Ok! Day off!” she whooped in triumph, before pausing for a moment, her expression slowly fading, “…Ugh, no excuse to get out of work now,” she groaned. Iori patted her on the arm.
“I’m sure you’ll survive,” he told her, voice surprisingly sincere despite Yolei’s overdramatic cries.
The bell rang shortly after, and the group— minus Davis— started to walk towards the school building. Davis shuffled in place nervously, hands clenched as he tried to will himself to speak.
“Are you ok, Davis?” DemiVeemon asked quietly, poking his partner’s shoulder. Davis stayed quiet, sucking in a silent breath.
“H-Hey guys! Hold on a sec!” he shouted out, still glued in place as his friends turned to look at him.
“What’s up, Davis?” Kari asked, pausing as soon as she saw the look on his face.
“There was just, uh… something I wanted to talk about,” he said, voice quiet as he felt his stomach tie up in a knot.
“I don’t want to be late, Davis!” Yolei groaned, letting out a squeak as Kari gently bumped her in the side with her elbow.
Davis took a deep breath, slowly stepping forward as his friends looked at him. This was it.
“So, uh…” Why were words so hard to think of, especially now, especially in this moment? Why had it been so easy with his hero and his crush, but he couldn’t get the words out with his friends? His eyes darted to Kari, who gave him a warm, gentle smile.
“Whatever you have to say, you don’t have to worry. You can talk to us about anything,” she said, in that sweet tone she always spoke with to reassure someone. The same tone she spoke with when he first told her a few years ago.
He could do this.
“So, uh,” he started again, wringing his hands together nervously, “I haven’t told a lot of people this, but I’ve been thinking about it since yesterday, and, uh… I wanted to let you all know that I’m a guy.”
He did it. It suddenly felt like a massive weight was pulled off his shoulders.
“But I thought we already knew that,” his partner said from his perch on Davis’s shoulder. Davis’s face burned crimson, suddenly feeling stupid at the fact that he had basically said nothing.
However, Cody’s eyes shone with recognition, something Davis didn’t catch as he grit his teeth in frustration.
“Wh-What I mean is that, I wasn’t, like, born as a guy, I guess? Like I shoulda been, but I wasn’t, and when I realized that I just started… being a guy. And I was thinking about yesterday with everything that happened and… I just wanted to let you guys know.”
All the students had filed into the school now, just leaving their small group standing there. The silence was deafening, and Davis was mortified that maybe he had messed up. Maybe he shouldn’t have said anything, maybe Kari was wrong and this wasn’t a good idea…
Could they all hurry up and say something already!?
“It’s really brave of you to tell us, Davis,” Cody spoke up finally, “Kari is right, you can tell us anything, and we’ll always be here for you. If anyone gives you trouble, I’ll deal with them for you.”
Cody spoke with such conviction, and Davis couldn’t help but feel warm at how forthright the youngest member of the group was. Davis wasn’t entirely sure how Cody felt about him most times, but a gentle flush crept onto his face at how… nice it felt that he was so kind.
“Hey, wait, I don’t need you to deal with anyone! I can do it myself!” Davis shot back, clenching his hands into fists as he stamped a foot down. Kari couldn’t help but giggle.
“I’m glad you felt comfortable enough to tell us, Davis,” TK said as he strode forward, placing a hand on Davis’s shoulder that didn’t have a Digimon on it. “You’ll always be one of the guys, and you’ll always be our friend,” he added, flashing him a smile.
“Th-Thanks, dude,” Davis said with a shaking voice. Ok, so maybe TK was annoying, and knew Kari way too well, and showed him up with how much he knew about Digimon, but maybe he wasn’t that bad.
Yolei awkwardly shuffled forward, hands clasped behind her back, gaze focused on the ground, unable to meet his eyes. She kicked at the ground, taking a moment of silence before she cleared her throat.
“I’m really happy for you. A-And what they said. And, like, if I ever said anything that like, was rude about it, then I’m really sorry,” she said. Davis raised an eyebrow in confusion at her, then shook his head.
“What? No, you haven’t! Don’t worry,” he said, folding his arms after and shooting her a grin, “I could handle anything you would throw my way, anyways.”
Yolei offered him a weak, lopsided smile, “Well, still, I want you to know that I wouldn’t ever want to like, you know, not respect that.” She paused, “I’ll still give you crap, but not about that. Promise.”
“Thanks.”
“I, uh, need to head to class now,” Yolei said, immediately turning on her heel and sprint off to the school building, “I’ll see you guys later!”
TK gave Davis another pat on the shoulder before he ran off, too, Cody following him at a more relaxed pace. Davis started to walk foward, letting out a content sigh as he met up with Kari.
“I told you there would be nothing to worry about,” she said.
“Hahaha, I knew it would! Totally!” he said, putting his hands behind his head as they made their way along.
“I’m proud of you, too.”
The smile left his heart pounding in his chest, and he gave her a beaming smile, forcing out a laugh. “Th-Thanks, Kari. You know, it always means a lot how much you’ve supported me and stuff So thanks for that, too.”
DemiVeemon poked Davis in the ear, “Hey, I’m proud of you, too!” the small Digimon said.
Davis laughed, “Thanks buddy, that means a lot.”
“I didn’t realize humans could Digivolve, too! We can both Digivolve!” DemiVeemon cheered. Davis couldn’t help but laugh.
“I guess I can, huh? You hear that, Kari? I can Digivolve, too!” he said, laughing louder than before.
Turning into something better and stronger and more… him?
Yeah, he liked the sound of that.

I’ll keep myself under anon because I’m afraid of people’s reactions to my own opinions… But I didn’t like how DtM treated one of the most iconic Daisuke scenes with a not-so-funny joke (in my opinion – please don’t take it personally) when the original scene was about Daisuke putting himself in Wallace’s shoes and admitting he wouldn’t be able to take V-mon down if V-mon had turned into the enemy. So may I ask if the redub uncut version changed that joke? Is it closer to the original meaning of the scene? I’m concerned about this one scene actually…
I'm not offended! I don’t begrudge anyone for disliking certain jokes or the whole of Digimon: the Movie (goodness knows that, while I have a fondness for and the most familiarity with the American English dub, certain lines/jokes REALLY grate on me). I don't want my inbox to turn into original vs. dub wars or an all-out hatefest for either the old OR new dub, but you're fine, and I hope I can allay your fears a bit!
I believe I know exactly which joke you're talking about, and it's nowhere to be found in the new dub. FWIW, I thought that the new version of this whole scene was EXTREMELY well done and faithful to the original (with the caveat that it's faithful as far as I know; I have not actually seen the Hudie sub because I'm allergic to torrents, so I'm operating from knowledge of prior/less accurate subbed versions here). Davis mentions exactly what you describe, and all the voice actors deliver their lines with appropriate seriousness and emotion that matches how the characters look on screen. I KNOW I squealed, at least twice (I squealed a lot during this movie. Even with imperfect knowledge of the original, I'm quite sure they did justice to the original intent of the scene, as well as the original characterization of Daisuke, Wallace, and Terriermon throughout the the film, even if the adaptation isn’t precisely one-to-one). Once it’s released, I’m hoping there will be future discussions about how faithful the redub actually is because I’m intensely curious, but I believe, at this point, it’s quite good. I don’t want to spoil the things that I noticed, but I think people will be pleasantly surprised at just how much of the original Japanese material made it into the redub.
I debated about whether or not to say this, but in the interest of full disclosure I will say that the new dub added one line that maintains a certain aspect of Davis' characterization from the original AmEng dub that I believe some Daisuke fans do not appreciate, and it also kept one line from the original version of Hurricane Touchdown that I wish they had altered in some way. The first is not a deal-breaker for me, the second is the main reason I say this film is *almost* perfect, and not *actually* perfect.
Putting them under a cut in case you don't want to know, also *technically* just my opinion, etc.
The joke that they added in the redub is having Davis condescendingly call TK by another name ("TJ") when he and Kari finally arrive at the flower field. It's really quick, it's the only time it happens, and it felt more like a throwaway reference to the original American English dub than a true joke... but it's there, and I know that might bother some people. Sorry if you're one of those people, but at least you’re forewarned (like I said, I don’t personally mind this and um… point for dub consistency?).
(Sidebar, but if you’re worried about Davis being excessively possessive of Kari, I don’t believe they added anything there. He does mention her a bunch, but IIRC that’s true of the original, and nothing that Davis said stood out to me as being OOC for Daisuke in that regard.)
The original joke that they kept but IMO should have altered is Terriermon and Demiveemon making fatphobic jokes at Willis' mom's expense…. yikes. That joke didn't work in the original, and it definitely doesn't work in the year 2023. I’m not sure how they could have altered it (have Terriermon just being goofy and trying to make Demiveemon laugh is probably about as good as you could do), but I do find it unfortunate and in poor taste; it's the one genuine misstep, in my eyes.

“What has gotten into you?” Double D asked seeing DemiVeemon struggle. He never seen anyone scared of bathes than Ed. And he’s afraid of soap.
Double D was on his computer when a odd program appeared on the screen. It was a blue ball with a cute little face and cone like appendage on its head.
It moves around as if trying to say something, what will double D do?
“Now what’s this creature? Interesting…” Edd stated from his point of view looking at this digital creature as he picked it up.

The Truth Always Comes Out - Digimon (Davis/Yolei)
Hey, guys, long time no see. Hope you’re all doing well, all things considered. I decided to dust off this blog and post a little FanFiction for a change! Fancy that. Why FanFiction for a fairly rare pair in a children’s cartoon from twenty years ago? Good question. I was honestly inspired by the work of a truly amazing writer @tanyatakaishi and their incredible story Innocent Games, whose sequel is currently in progress and definitely worth the read whether you’re into Digimon or not (but you should be into Digimon, i mean seriously?) But yeah, drop by and give Innocent Games a read, drop a comment and a kudo too while you’re at it. This short story I’m posting myself is so inspired by Innocent Games, it’s pretty safe to call it a FanFiction of a FanFiction, doesn’t really fit into any canon, and is just something I had rattling around my head that I needed to bang out. Please give it a read and let me know your thoughts! Stay safe, ya’ll.
- Mike
*******************************************************************************************
In hindsight, he really should have known better. Yolei had always possessed an inquisitive streak to put it lightly (whether or not the matter being investigated was her business was rarely a concern) and she was typically about as adept at snooping things out as Davis was poor at hiding them.
And really, on his laptop of all places?
Davis, along with the rest of their friends, had spent his fair share of time around – as well as inside of – computers, but regardless, they were still Yolei's domain through and through, her expertise. And as his father had once told him many years ago, during a family trip to the supermarket where Davis had denied, despite being caught, that he'd tried to shoplift a pack of gum down the front of his shorts: The truth always comes out.
His thoughts were scattered though as they stumbled through the front door and into the blackness of the dorm he shared with Ken. Yolei was strung over his back like a long-legged, lilac-haired knapsack – having mounted him during the elevator ride, laughing, the liquor in her belly turning her playful.
The haze of alcohol still hung heavy in Davis’s mind too, enough so that his legs wobbled dangerously as he carried her through the blackness to where he approximated the futon was.
“Is Ken here?” Her breath was warm in his hair and the heat climbed up his neck to settle in the tips of his ears.
“Nah,” He said. “He’s with his parents this weekend.”
“Perfect.” She purred.
Davis picked up the pace, stumbling over a pair of soccer cleats in the dark. He spun in a circle, pulling a fresh laugh from Yolei, before depositing them both on the sagging futon cushion. Yolei sat pinned behind him, a little squished, but regardless it was the perfect position to plant sloppy kisses on his exposed neck. Davis squirmed, his heart racing.
“It doesn’t smell in here, does it?” He asked.
“Only a little.”
“It’s the trash, I bet. I haven’t taken it out since Monday.” He moved to rise, but she pulled him back into her lap, near growling:
“Leave it.”
“Mmm,” He hummed. “You like the funk, huh? It sets the mood for you?”
“You’re about to ruin the mood if you don’t shut it.”
“Such a way with words, love.”
Love.
That word. It was enough to diffuse squabble that had been sparking.
Davis sunk back into her and she wrapped her arms around him, feeling up and down his chest, then down his gut. He seized one of her hands and brought it to his mouth, kissing her sharp knuckles, the pads of her fingers, her wrist. It was surprisingly tender for him.
And it drove her absolutely wild.
Her free hand had just wrapped around the buckle of his belt, when the door to the bedroom creaked open.
“Davish?”
They both flinched as tiny feet pounded on the floor, leapt, then thudded lightly on the futon by their side. Yolei reached and flicked on the lamp switch by her head.
“DemiVeemon!” Davis was grinning at the sight of his partner, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I thought you’d still be sleeping, buddy.”
“I had a dream that we were on a boat! I wanted to tell you about it!” The in-training Digimon clambered onto Yolei’s knee. “Yolei, your face is so red you look like a tomato!”
“It’s hot.” She explained. And it was, the compounding moments of passion followed by DemiVeemon’s interruption had them both sweating slightly.
“Where’s Poromon?” The Digimon asked, unperturbed. Fresh from his nap, he was ready to play.
“Um- He’s spending the night in the Digital World.” She dug her nails into Davis’s side, causing him to wince in pain, the soft touches suddenly gone. “I kind of thought you’d be there too.”
“Nope!” Chirped DemiVeemon. “But we could all go now!”
“Tomorrow, buddy.” Davis brushed his hands over DemiVeemon’s ears. Even if a trip to the Digital World could be fit into their agenda, the phantom feeling of Yolei's hands on him was fresh and that very likely meant that standing up anytime would be a bad move. “But hey, you know, I think I still have some Udon in the fridge from yesterday. Ya hungry?”
“Yes!”
As DemiVeemon scampered away, Davis sighed and lifted himself out from between Yolei’s legs so he could sit beside her.
“Sorry about that,” He settled his arms on her shoulders, leaning close. “But where were we?”
“Davis, no.” She pushed him back. “I told you that I was taking Poromon to the Digital World so we could be alone tonight. Why didn’t you do the same?”
“I was going to. I just – I dunno, felt bad about dumping him there.” Davis rubbed his nose. The alcohol's buzz was fading from him now, much too fast for his liking. “He’ll be in a food coma in twenty minutes though, I guarantee it. Then we can get back to -”
“Hold on,” Her eyes sharpened into knives behind her glasses “You think I dumped Poromon in the Digital World?”
“No, I-”
“I did not dump him,” She continued, shifting further away on the cushion as she sat up straighter. “He’s helping out in Primary Village. I’ll be there to pick him up again tomorrow.”
“I know!” Davis felt a fresh wave of heat roll up his ears, annoyed that she was picking apart his words tonight of all nights. “I’m not trying to make you feel guilty.”
“I have no reason to feel guilty.” She folded her arms and sank back, eyes settling on the kitchen where DemiVeemon’s ears were casting shadows up the wall from the light of the open refrigerator. “He’s fine, just – dammit, Davis.” A heavy sigh billowed her lips, then: “You and I just got back together, what? Three days ago? And between school and everything, you and I haven’t had time… We needed a night like this.”
It was true. This most recent “break” of theirs had been a rough one and longer than any previous up to now. Almost an entire two months had passed where they barely spoke a single word to each other, only interacting when strictly necessary for Digimon matters, or the occasional late-night message over their D-Terminals.
Davis slumped back too.
“Tonight was a good night.” He said lamely.
She just nodded.
They sat in silence for a minute as DemiVeemon finished rummaging for food. He eventually waddled past them back to Davis’s bedroom, a warm bowl nearly as big as he was balanced on his head. All dreams of boats forgotten for the time being. Whether or not he had heard the beginning of their spat, Davis wasn’t sure. Regardless, he now wished his partner had stayed to break some of the tension that hung heavy in the room.
What he really wanted was another drink.
What he needed to do was apologize.
Instead, he lurched forward, propping himself on one arm as he reached over Yolei. She opened her mouth, ready to rebuke him again, until he reached past her and snatched the clunky laptop that sat on the end table.
It was five pounds heavier and just as many years outdated for anything Yolei would have considered satisfactory, but Davis had got it for a good price in a resale shop and desperately needed a computer for school. He grunted as he settled back in his seat and flipped open the lid, determined to find a way to break the awkward silence.
“Can I – um, play some music?”
He was already scrolling through his rather extensive music library, not waiting for an answer, but Yolei nodded anyways.
“Just no dub-step, please for the love of God.”
He chuckled and something in her chest unwound. He eventually settled on something, and with a double-click the room was filed with smooth guitar and steady drums. They listened, Davis nodding his head in beat and Yolei watching him.
“The speakers on that thing are awful.”
“Yeah.”
The song transitioned, adding more varied guitar and aggressive vocals.
“I haven’t heard this one before.”
“Ken showed it to me.”
“It’s good.”
“Yeah.”
As the song started to fade, Davis reached, without looking, and rubbed a line up and down Yolei’s thigh. She unfolded her arms, but before she could move further towards him, he was lifting the laptop from his lap and moving it into her’s. He stood up.
“Gotta take a piss.” He muttered, trudging towards the bathroom, tripping over the same pair of cleats as he went.
Yolei watched him leave, long nails tapping on the plastic laptop chassis. After the bathroom door closed and she heard him emptying his bladder into the toilet through the thin wall, she sighed and began flicking through his music.
She had gotten a little too defensive earlier and she knew it.
The truth was, she did feel a little guilty for parting ways with her Digimon, even if it was only for a night. Despite the lack of crises in the Digital World needing their intervention, it sometimes felt like she was shirking responsibility by turning more attention to other aspects of her life.
But she was older. She was busy – they all were.
Breaking up with Davis a few months ago had been a mistake, a rash decision after a stupid fight.
Drawing a good night out by coming home with him and arguing tonight had been a mistake. The wounds from the breakup were still fairly fresh. They couldn’t exactly just pickup where they left off.
Hell, maybe getting back together had been the mistake.
She wasn’t even reading the list of songs anymore as she scrolled. Her ring finger tapped a little too quickly on the arrow keys and the music program locked up from overestimation. Grumbling, she tapped more—even though she knew better—and the window was suddenly minimized, and then she was confronted with the egregious mess of folders on Davis’s desktop.
What immediately caught her eye was the folder labeled ‘Sexy Sexy Sexy’, and with that, any thought of innocently returning Davis’s music library vanished up in smoke.
Eyebrow quirked, she clicked and opened the oddly-named folder without hesitation. Of course she knew that most every guy had that particular folder stashed away. Having it on the desktop was definitely bold though.
What she saw though almost made her guffaw, and she struggled to steel herself.
The folder contained pictures upon pictures of different styles of ramen, most likely purloined from some high-end bistro’s online menu, judging by the nearly indecent high quality and their tiny watermarks in the corner of each. Nearly every photo was accompanied with an adjacent text document, containing what Yolei astutely guessed were Davis’s attempts at parsing out the recipe by looks alone.
This ramen folder was probably more organized and cared for than the one he used for homework, and a quick visit back to the desktop and to a directory simply dubbed ‘hw’ confirmed this.
Yolei glanced at the bathroom door. Things inside had gone silent, but if history and the number of sliders he ate at the bar were reliable indicators, Davis would probably be preoccupied for a few more minutes. She had plenty of time.
Yolei cruised through the rest of his desktop in record time, finding nothing of note outside of a few folders containing game roms, a second folder of his own home-brewed ramen recipes, and much to her surprise: an alarming amount of digitized Shoujo manga, definitely pirated. She filed that away for teasing ammunition later.
Now, to find the really good stuff.
Her practiced fingers danced over the keyboard, running a shell command to search for recently accessed items. Buried in several sub-folders was one entry that caught her eye, a single folder with a timestamp indicating it was opened just an hour or so before he’d picked her up for their date earlier that evening.
The folder was named ‘yolei’.
A swirl of emotions flooded her as she opened the file with her namesake, and she found it was a dumping ground of yet more photographs.
Instead of gratuitous snapshots of food however, they all featured her.
Yolei immediately recognized a series of selfies she’d sent him herself – some as early as when they had first started their on-again/off-again relationship years ago. It had never occurred to her that Davis would be the type to save them anywhere but his phone. It was surprisingly sentimental of him.
An image of Davis lying in his bed, clicking through and lovingly studying a slideshow of her, sprung to mind and she felt a warm swell of affection for him. She had done something similar on occasion, when their respective university work had kept them apart for multiple days on end.
There were other styles of pictures too. As she scrolled further, she found photos they had taken together at her high school graduation ceremony, shots of them at a beach trip, and one from her recent birthday where he’d tried to wrestle her face into the cake. She couldn’t help but laugh quietly.
She came to a stop at one photo in particular, the image’s age betrayed by how grainy it’s quality was.
They couldn’t have been older than thirteen. Davis was round-faced and grinning in the middle, one arm slung over Ken to his left and the other over a mildly miffed Kari. T.K. stood on Kari’s other side (Yolei had forgotten about that silly hat he used to wear) and on the opposite edge stood Yolei herself, all spindly limbs and thick, round glasses—stained brilliant white from the flash of the camera.
Their Digimon partners stood huddled around their feet and Yolei felt a fresh pang when her eyes fell on Hawkmon.
She scrolled further, perhaps more quickly than necessary, but then came to a screeching halt.
“Bastard.” She hissed, an angry blush spreading across her cheeks.
“What?” Davis had somehow exited the bathroom and was halfway back to his seat. Yolei had been so engrossed in her recent discovery she hadn’t even heard him flush.
Without missing a beat, she twirled the laptop around and pointed the screen at him accusatory.
“What the hell is this?”
To his credit, Davis had learned since the gum smuggling attempt in his youth that it was best not to lie when he’d be caught.
“Oh,” His mouth formed a perfect O-shape. Now he was blushing too. “I can explain-”
“You better!” She rattled the laptop at him, the hinge wobbling dangerously. “I told you to delete these, Davis!”
It had been her one demand when they had broken up most recently. He had listed several himself, including the unconditional return of the multiple sweater-shirts she’d swiped from his dorm. She considered this a devastating blow, as they made the perfect sleeping shirts in her opinion. But to be fair, he actually needed them more than she did, his winter wardrobe being sparse as it was.
“I did delete them!” He shot back.
“Oh—that is so obviously not true.” She flipped the laptop back around so she could look at them again. The photos were definitely there, present and accounted for, completely not deleted. Her eyes were flashing as she glared back up at him. “Why did you keep these?!”
“Look, you specifically asked me to delete from my phone,” He explained. “And that’s what I did.”
“Oh, so you thought you could keep these on a technicality, huh?”
“We’re back together now so why does it matter?” He threw his hands in the air. “They’re not even that bad of pictures.”
“They’re disgusting.”
Davis chose not to argue with that. Certainly most of the photos could be construed as less-than appealing.
His laptop currently contained the only copies in existence of seventeen candid photos of Yolei, caught in various stages of sleep, sickness, and general foulness.
It had started as kind of sweet. On one of the nights she had slept over he’d woken first, and had snapped a quick picture of her face as she slept rather serenely, messy hair splayed over his pillow. When he’d showed her the picture later, he’d called her beautiful. She made a show of rolling her eyes, but smiled and blushed all the same.
For the second photo, he’d caught her while she was trying to subtly pick her nose.
It had kind of snowballed from there.
“Why were you even going through my laptop anyways?” He demanded in turn.
“I was looking for music.” Yolei turned her nose up matter-of-factly.
“In my pictures? Yeah, Right.”
“You’re missing the point.” She waved her hand as if his words were a fly buzzing by her ears. “This is a major breach of privacy.”
“Now that, you’re right about.” He stepped forward finally and reached for his laptop, but she pulled it to her chest.
“I mean my privacy, you jackass.”
“I took those, so they’re actually mine.”
“But they’re not pictures of you, are they?” She looked down, scrutinizing one of her in an unseemly, homemade guacamole facemask, filename: ‘she-hulk’. She had seen all these pictures before at one point or another, usually accompanied with some gentle ribbing at her expense, but seeing the collage now felt entirely different. “Davis, how could I ever trust you again? You promised me that you’d get rid of these.”
She was right of course, and that caused the words to sting all the more. Davis was near a hundred percent sober now, but his vision still blurred. Hot tears of shame, and a heaping dose of frustration, pricking his eyes. He fought and managed to keep his voice level, mostly:
“Yeah, well... how am I supposed to just go around like it’s nothing when you could be sniffing through my drawers every time I turn my back?”
She didn’t have an answer for that.
A half minute passed where neither said anything. The music from the laptop was still playing passively, shuffling through Davis’s library automatically and currently playing some upbeat video game OST Yolei didn’t recognize. Eventually he moved and sank down onto the futon with her again, a few inches of space between them, and both their eyes settled on the gallery of photos still on display on the glowing screen in Yolei’s arms.
Davis remembered telling his friends oh so recently that he and Yolei were back together. Tai and Izzy had exchanged a quick glance, a silent exchange of barely-contained, mild exasperation. He imaged them placing bets on how long he and Yolei would last this time and pictured money exchanging hands when he broke the news that they were surely once again parting ways-
“That was the most sick I’d ever been in my entire life.” Yolei muttered suddenly, indicating one of the pictures. “I literally thought I was dying.”
He chuckled despite himself.
“Your nose is so red there.”
“Yeah, the tissues from I-Mart were like sandpaper. They still are.”
“Red looks good on you though.” Their eyes met then, and Davis continued quickly, stammering slightly. “I mean, not many people can pull off crimson flight pants, but- um… you did.. for years.”
Her face had an unreadable quality to it, and it seemed as if she might respond with something, but then she turned away and began scrolling through his computer again. He noticed her eyes weren’t focused though and he didn’t have it in him to try and dissuade her from searching still. There was nothing else to find anyway.
“Why do you even have this folder?” She asked, eyes forward.
He debated with himself for a few seconds, then decided on the truth.
“I like… having photos. You know, of you.” He admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. “And when we broke up last time, and you told me to delete all those ugly pics of you, I did.” Yolei’s mouth opened to object, but he continued before she could interject. “I really did. I honestly just forgot that they were on my laptop with everything else too, and when I saw them later, I just… couldn’t get rid of them.” He stared at her profile, tracing with his eyes the lines of her cheek, the bump on her nose. “I really thought this last time was the real deal.”
“Me too.”
“Do you think we should break up again?”
“I don’t know.” Even though they weren’t quite touching, Yolei felt him stiffen by her side. She closed her eyes, and said her next words to the blackness of her eyelids. “I don’t want to.”
He breathed out, the air leaving him as if released from a balloon.
“God, me neither.”
She twisted on her seat, opening her eyes to meet his gaze.
“I’m sorry for looking through your laptop. I shouldn’t have done that.”
“It’s okay.” He responded quickly.
Yolei continued anyways.
“If I’m being honest too, I was looking to see what kind of porn you had saved on here.”
“What?” Davis balked. “Seriously? Why would you think I had… that stuff… on there? I don’t even…” He shook his head, the image of incredulity. “I don’t even watch that.” Yolei watched him steadily, a single brow raised. “What? I don’t!”
“Sure. We’ll talk about that some other time.” She was only half teasing.
The promise of ‘some other time’ bolstered his spirits quickly. He eyed his laptop in her hands, suddenly loathing the pathetic thing and how he’d used it to hide away the secret vestiges of what he had once thought would be all that remained of his and Yolei’s relationship. She had owned up to her transgressions.
What he needed to do was apologize.
Standing, he pulled the laptop from her slack grip before she could argue, and looking her dead in the eyes, gripped each half of the computer and snapped it in half along the hinge. The music died with a pitiful wheeze and splinters of plastic flew everywhere, a few bouncing off Yolei’s glasses to disappear into the fibers of the rug at her feet.
“Davis!”
“I shouldn’t have kept those pictures.” He discarded the broken halves of the computer, speaking passionately. “I want us to start over fresh, okay? I don’t want any dumb secrets or anything like that to cause any problems. I want you to trust me, because I trust you – I really do.” He swallowed hard. “I still love you, Yolei.”
Her eyes shone and laughter bubbled in her throat.
“But you computer-”
“I needed a new one anyways. You can help me pick one out!”
“Yeah, but,” She wiped her eyes clear. “What about all the other pictures? My graduation, the Digimon?”
“I still have those on my phone, no worries.”
“And your homework?”
“My homework?” It took a second for Davis’s brain to catch up. His eyes passed from one broken piece of the laptop to the other, then his hands rose to bury themselves in his hair. “Oh shit, shit. My mid-term paper is saved on there...”
Yolei wanted to laugh, she wanted to cry, but instead she reached out and pulled him to her. She gently unwound his fingers from his hair and twined them with hers. She kissed him and kept pulling until he was climbing onto the battered futon with her, then over her.
In the morning, she would take off the back panel of his broken computer and pull the hard drive. She’d help him recover his homework and maybe, just maybe, a couple of the more agreeable photos that she would allow him to keep.
For now though, he didn’t need any of the digital keepsakes. As far as either of them were concerned, any number of pictures paled in comparison to the real thing.
For now though, she held him close and breathed in his ear.
“I love you too.”
When DemiVeemon bounced back into the living area sometime later, he found the pair asleep and huddled under a blanket together on the futon. The small Digimon took in the mess on the floor, the couple’s mussed hair, their slow and steady breaths, chests rising as one. Of course, he had heard every word of their argument from Davis’s bedroom, but he was used to the ruckus by now and too preoccupied with his noodles to care. Anyways, no doubt there would be many such squabbles in the future for him to witness.
He decided to let them sleep for now and bounded to the kitchen in search of a mid-night snack. He would just have tell Davis about his dream some other time.

“Pathetic. is this all the power you children possess?” Jupitermon asked, looking over the battered Digimon of the sleuths, the only ones still standing were Hifumi’s JewelBeemon, and Ami’s MetalExVeemon. the two ultimate's swiftly blown back to champion after one more swift blow.
“Fumi-chan, let’s break it out!” Ami yelled, grabbing Hifumi’s hand. Hifumi nods as her headphones and Ami’s goggles begin pulsing green and blue before syncing up.
“Exveemon!” “Stingmon!
“DNA Digivolve to... Paildramon! Paildramon digivolve to... Imperialdramon!”
“Okay! get ‘im guys!” Hifumi cheers.
“Not as cool as you.. buddy...” Nokia manages to say, patting Omnimon, who was in bad condition like the others.
“This feeble trick didn’t work for your friend.” Jupitermon spits, knocking Imperialdramon away after he started firing. on him.
“None of them tried this!” Hifumi yelled, jumping off of Imperialdramon’s shoulder and punching Jupitermon in the jaw.
“Hmph, is that all?” He said, backhanding Hifumi into a wall.
“Hifumi!” Nokia yells, struggling to get to her feet as Ami runs over and helps Hifumi back up.
“Why do all of you continue to struggle when you know you’re beaten?” Jupitermon asked.
“That’s simple.” Hifumi said, spitting out some blood. “Because if we stop fighting... all of our hard work is for nothing.”
“And all the time we spent with our Digimon would be pointless if we didn’t get to so stuff with them again!” Ami said.
“Exactly! we won’t loose because than we can’t do any of the fun stuff! like going out to eat with everyone! or helping each other out! Or even drink Kyoko’s nasty coffee!” Nokia yells.
“We fight because we won’t disappoint them! especially after a stunt like that!” Imperialdramon yelled, punching Jupitermon in the same spot as Hifumi, actually knocking him away.
“This is a spirit like ours...” Omnimon said, rising to his feet and glowing. he defuses, Agumon and Gabumon falling to the ground, with a mass of energy flying to Imperialdramon.
“Thank you.” Imperialdramon said, his armor turning white as a sword formed in his hands.
“Th-The founder of the Royal Knights?!” Jupitermon yelled, sounding afraid.
“Indeed I am... I am Imperialdramon... Paladin Mode!” He yelled, firing at Jupitermon from the cannon in his chest, knocking him down.
“Remember it well, in the next life.” Imperialdramon said, slashing Jupitermon once with the sword, reverting him to data.
“Holy...” Hifumi mutters as Imperialdramon glows, before separating into DemiVeemon and Minomon, the two digimon falling into their partners arms.
“Now that’s what i call team work!” Nokia cheers, hugging the other two girls.

Snack Attack (Digimon Prompt Fic)
Characters: Yolei, Kari & Digimon | Setting: School
Rated: T
Prompt: Sour. Perhaps your character has bitten into something that doesn’t taste so good, or the actions of another character have left a sour taste in their mouth.“ [ Word Goal: 200 | Actual: 235 ]
"There you are, Kari.”
Kari stopped just before entering the computer lab to see Yolei step out from it.
“Sorry I’m late,” Kari said with an embarrassed smile. “I got stopped by the girls in the photography club before I got here.”
“No big deal,” Yolei said. “It’s only been five minutes since I’ve gotten here. No one else is here yet, other than our Digimon.
"Guess we’re waiting on the guys, then.”
“Yeah. They’d better hurry up. I brought chips and sweets from the shop, but I’m sure the Digimon will eat them all before they get here.”
They heard a loud squawk suddenly. Running into the computer room, they looked on in confusion as they discovered all five Digimon surrounding Yolei’s plastic bag of snacks, disarmed by what they had just eaten. Gatomon and Poromon had their tongues sticking out in disgust, DemiVeemon turned away from the group as he coughed, and Patamon and Upamon lay in their spots with dazed expressions.
“Oh no!” Yolei cried, running toward the bag. “They must have gotten into the pickled plums. Mom told me to bring a jar to take home later!”
Kari followed and watched Yolei pick up the now empty jar. “Did you guys eat all of them?” Kari asked.
“You didn’t even notice how sour the smell was?” Yolei let out an exasperated sigh. “I wonder how I’m gonna explain this to Mom.”

Digimon Drabble Part 1
Fandom: Digimon Adventure (Specifically Adventure 02)
Summary: Daisuke (Davis) is starting to realize his feelings for Ken are more than what he thought they were. The 02 kids are all early college age.
Pairing: Daiken
Warning: Nothing (unless you care they're both boys, but seriously get out if it bothers you)
A/n: Have that OTP from your childhood that you didn't ever get over? Yea. I have a couple. This is one of them. I have always refused to believe that Ken married Miyako like that weird epilogue suggests when he and Daisuke have been each other's perfect foil and soulmate since the beginning. And maybe that's all it it. They're soulmates, whether that's platonic or romantic or what. They utterly complete each other. I just love them so much. For over a decade now I have started little fanfics for my boys but never got too far. This one I promised myself I'd finish. It'll be 3 parts I think. Mostly fluff all the way. First part is short, picks up a lot next time.
-----------
So Daisuke didn't get into the best of colleges. Still, with cram school and Ken's tutelage, he at least made it into one that was appeasing enough to his parents. Luckily for Daisuke this school was also very close to the prestigious university that both Hikari and Ken were attending. He didn't even care much for the idea of college, but it was something he felt a bit obligated to at least try. Plus, any excuse to rent a tiny apartment with Ken was a good thing in his book.
'Tiny' was an understatement really, as this apartment would be considered by some as downright minuscule, maybe even microscopic. It consisted of a closet that contained and toilet and shower shoved in to it. Luckily the shower had a curtain, because if it had a door like the shower at his parent's apartment that door wouldn't even be able to open without slamming into the toilet. It also had one skinny room that was a combination kitchen and living room. It barely fit a couch and had very little counter space. More than half of the space in their shared bedroom was filled by their two beds.
Ken called it 'cozy', which made Daisuke smile. Ken also pointed out how it was in a secure building in a nice neighborhood of the city. Plus, opting for the teeny apartment allowed them to save up a little bit each month. They each had part time jobs, so money was still tight, but they functioned. Mrs. Ichijouji promised to bring them home cooked dinners from time to time, which also helped.
Sharing a space with his best friend, even if it was an incredibly small space was excellent. Daisuke trusted Ken unconditionally and couldn't think of any one better to share his personal space with. Plus, Ken was tidy and said countless times he didn't mind picking up after Daisuke if Daisuke would carry their laundry downstairs to the laundry room for him. Daisuke was more than willing to do this and maintain a cleaner living situation he would ever be able to manage on his own.
This way they could also bring demiveemon and minomon into the house with out worrying about what others might think. That alone was worth it.
Jun had told Daisuke, in a mocking tone, that living with your best friend always resulted in one of two outcomes. Either you begin to hate each other after spending too much time together or you end up sleeping together. Daisuke laughed her off as always. Neither of those things would happen. Their bond was already way too strong to be broken by petty roommate fights and in it's own way, even stronger than most bonds of couples in sexual relationships.
One night, a couple months into the school semester, Daisuke came home late from work to find Ken, Hikari, and some woman Daisuke had never met all slumped together, having fallen asleep on the small couch. Their school work was scattered across the little table in front of them. He was taken a back at first. Ken wasn't particularly comfortable with physical contact. As far as Daisuke had ever seen the only person Ken was that confident enough around was himself. Ken was leaning against Hikari with his head on her shoulder as she leaned against the arm of the sofa with one arm draped over Ken's legs. The other girl was making less contact but still needed to be pressed close to Ken in order for them all to fit on the couch together. The sight made Daisuke upset.
He couldn't explain it. He had gotten over his crush on Hikari years ago. It wasn't that he cared who was close to her. He cared that they was so close to Ken. Ken was his. Not that he owned him. Heavens, he didn't feel like he owned Ken, but he did feel like Ken was supposed to be his friend. His best friend. His digivolve partner. His...something...special.
Turning away from the scene, Daisuke went to the bedroom slamming the door more than he needed to behind him. Falling onto his bed not even bothering to get under the blankets.
The next morning Daisuke woke up even more confused. Not only did he had the weirdest dream about Ken. He also found himself still sleeping on top of his own bedding, but warm beneath one of the blankets from Ken's bed.
He trudged out of bed slowly making his way to the kitchen when he noticed the living room picked up neatly and both Hikari and Ken no where to be found. Thursday meant early morning classes for them. Luckily, it meant only afternoon classes for Daisuke. So he went about making coffee and showering leisurely.
Daisuke wasn't one to be lost in his own thoughts. He didn't like to dwell on things, he liked action. But this morning he found himself in a trance as he wondered the apartment getting ready for the day. His mind was racing a million thoughts around all at once.
He shouldn't have been so...jealous...last night. Was he jealous? What is jealousy anyway really? Maybe he was just feeling some residual feelings for Hikari. Or maybe he just wasn't used to seeing Ken be so comfortable with someone else. That was a good thing right? Ken needed to open up, to not feel so guilty around other people. He needed to make more friends. Right?
Yet, Daisuke felt oddly miserable.
His two classes went well enough. When he was leaving the school he noticed a group of familiar people by on of the front gates. Hikari and Ken obviously, having just gotten out of classes themselves. Also Takeru and that girl from last night. She spoke to the group excitedly for a minute before waving the goodbye. She offered Ken a shy smile before she turned and zipped out of sight. Daisuke felt a strong urge to growl.
Takeru was actually the first to notice him, waving Daisuke over in their direction. They told of their plans to grab take out and go over the Yamato's place for dinner. Ken even seemed excited. Normally this all would thrill Daisuke, but he wasn't feeling it tonight.
"Sorry I have a lot of homework to do. I should get home." He lied through his loud cheery voice.
Hikari smiled and told him it was alright. Promising to get together really soon.
Daisuke started to make his way down the sidewalk towards the train entrance. "Hey wait up" a voice called out to him. Turning he saw Ken jogging up to him.
"Your're not going with everyone else?" He questioned.
"Apparently not. " Ken answered softly before giving Daisuke a look he used when he knew Daisuke was lying. Ken always knew.
'What?" Daisuke asked in faux innocence.
"You don't have homework to do." The raven hair boy remarked. Giving Daisuke a pointed look.
"Sure I do!" Daisuke insisted.
"That you actually plan on doing?" Ken countered with a little smile.
Daisuke looked over at him and watched Ken's little smile widen as Daisuke shook his head 'no'. They both laughed lightly as they entered the train.
When they got back to their little apartment, Daisuke sighed happily. He was glad to see the sight of an empty couch. Still, he made his way to the bedroom with out a word. Ken watched him go silently. Daisuke wasn't acting terribly out of sorts today, but it was obvious something wasn't normal today. Daisuke was typically a honest guy, little white lies were not even his thing. It was odd to see him not only turn down an offer for dinner, but to lie about it too.

The Lost Digidestined
Episode 16: Melanomon Appears
"Digi-armor, energize!"
"Tigramon, armor-digivolve to... SabreTigramon, the Fires of Creation!"
"Driamon, armor-digivolve to... AquaAngewomon, the Angel of Sustenance!"
The two blue-clad Digimon looked down at Kishoumon, who looked at SabreTigramon in alarm.
"Wait a minute, I thought you said you weren't going to hurt me!"
"I'm just here to make sure you don't change your mind," SabreTigramon said, her tail swishing.
"And I'm going to do the healing," AquaAngewomon said.
"All right..." Kishoumon said relunctantly. "You had better hurry, Melanomon will kill us all if he finds out about this."
"He's gonna find out sooner or later," SabreTigramon pointed out. Kishoumon nodded, looking up at AquaAngewomon.
"Do your thing," she said softly. AquaAngewomon smiled, looking at the humans, who nodded.
AquaAngewomon brought her hands together, and her wings began to glow. She held back the attack longer then usual.
"Hopefully this will only take one hit," she said, her voice a bit strained. Kishoumon closed her eyes.
After another moment, AquaAngewomon nodded sharply.
"Wave of Renewal!"
The blast of blue energy struck Kishoumon hard in the forehead. If she hadn't already been flat on the ground, she would've been knocked back into the bushes where she'd been hiding.
After a moment, the light faded.
"Did...did it work?" AquaAngewomon wondered, wiping a bit of sweat from her jaw.
SabreTigramon knelt next to Kishoumon.
"The paint is gone," she said softly. SabreTigramon gently touched a claw to Kishoumon's forehead. "Kishoumon?"
"Unh...." the little Digimon stirred at the touch. "Wha... I?" She opened her eyes, looking up at them. The red had faded, leaving behind a minty green color.
"It worked!" Shadsie smiled.
"I...I'm sorry," Kishoumon whispered.
"There's no need to be sorry, Kishoumon," Sforzie said. She walked over and picked up the pink Digimon. "Are you with us now?"
"I..." Kishoumon's eyes watered. "I'm sorry. I still have to help Melanomon."
Sforzie and Shadsie exchanged a glance.
"How do you plan on helping him?" Shadsie wondered.
"I don't know," Kishoumon whispered.
"Kishoumon, can we trust you?" AquaAngewomon asked. Kishoumon's ears twitched.
"Yes. I don't mean to help him continue his bad ways. I have to help him... I can't really explain it." She looked up at Sforzie. "My head's a bit fuzzy. I'm sorry."
"You can quit apologizing," Sforzie said. "It's okay. We trust you, Kishoumon."
"Good," she smiled weakly, her tail drooping.
"Why don't we take you back to the Egg Village?" Shadsie suggested. "I'm sure the Demiveemon would be glad to help you get better."
"Sounds like a good idea to me," Sforzie nodded.
They went back through the woods, but after awhile SabreTigramon sighed in annoyance.
"These woods are terrible, can't we just cut back through the beach?"
"Yeah, the woods are only fun when you're being carried," AquaAngewomon said.
"The beach shouldn't been too far from here," Shadsie said. "We could cut back and go along the normal path."
They adjusted their path, but after a few minutes the Digimon stopped.
"Get down!" SabreTigramon cried out in alarm, turning back toward Shadsie and pulling at her arm.
"Now!" AquaAngewomon turned as well.
The humans ducked just in time to avoid being struck by a large blast of red and black energy.
"Wha-what was that?!" Shadsie said in alarm.
"That was Melanomon," Kishoumon said. "His attack... Dark Lightning Fire."
"Melanomon?" Sforzie swallowed, looking up as a shadow passed over the group. The ground shook slightly.
"He's here," Kishoumon whispered, pressing her face into Sforzie's arm. "He's come for me..."
"Well, we won't let him--" Sforzie's reply was cut off as AquaAngewomon tugged her into movement.
"Dark Lightning Fire!"
The trees vaporized in front of them, and the massive form of Melanomon was revealed. He snarled.
"So, if it isn't the Digidestined," Melanomon said. "We finally meet."
"And we'd been trying so hard to avoid you," SabreTigramon said sourly. Melanomon growled, a swift flick of his tail knocking SabreTigramon off her feet. AquaAngewomon helped her up.
"He didn't seem that big before," AquaAngewomon whispered.
"Fools," Melanomon said sharply. "You four have been a thorn in my side for long enough. It's time I finally do what none of my lackeys seemed capable of." He raised a gloved paw, black energy swirling at its center.
"Melanomon...stop..." Kishoumon said weakly. He paused, the energy fading from his paw.
"Kishoumon, you fool!" Melanomon growled. "I can't believe you were so easily decieved by these troublemakers."
"You're the troublemaker, Melanomon," Kishoumon tilted her head and glared at him.
"You're just a brainless henchmon," Melanomon snapped. "Nevertheless... you were very good at your job." His paw shot forward with surprising speed, striking Sforzie in the face and knocking her down. He caught Kishoumon by the neck and lifted her up.
"Sforzie!" AquaAngewomon rushed to her friend's side. The human groaned indirectly as she got back to her feet, her hand pressed against her face.
"Now..." Melanomon lifted Kishoumon level with his face. She squirmed.
"Let me go!"
"Oh, putting up a fight, just like the first time I caught you," Melanomon smirked, his teeth showing. Kishoumon continued to struggle in his grasp, her green eyes watering with tears.
"Put me down, Melanomon!" Kishoumon lashed out ineffectively with her claws.
"Melanomon, let her go, now!" AquaAngewomon turned back to face the evil Digimon. He stared down at her, sneering. Easily fifteen feet taller than her, the mega Digimon was apparently not impressed by the armored one.
"Well, at least you were effective in getting them to let their guard down," Melanomon said to Kishoumon. She let out a cry, tears staining the fur on her cheeks. One of her claws connected with the tip of his snout, and his head jerked back in surprise.
"You little pink pest!" He touched the small scratch with his free paw.
"You don't listen when you're told to put a lady down!" SabreTigramon shouted. She jumped up and tackled him in the midsection. Melanomon snarled, dropping Kishoumon as he swatted SabreTigramon away. She struck a tree and lost hold of her armor.
"Ungh," Tigramon darted back over to Shadsie. Sforzie picked up Kishoumon, ignoring the bloody nose she'd recieved from Melanomon.
"Let's get out of here," Shadsie said, picking up Tigramon.
Melanomon growled. "Dark Lightning Fire!" The attack barely missed them.
"Now would be a good time!"
The group fled. Melanomon was not far behind.
"Get ready to change forms when we get to the beach!" Sforzie shouted to AquaAngewomon, who was several paces ahead of the humans.
"What?!"
"We're leaving!" Shadsie shouted. AquaAngewomon nodded her understanding.
The wind on the beach was howling as they arrived. The trees behind them trembled as Melanomon made idle chase.
Sforzie recalled AquaAngewomon's armor as she stood where the waves were breaking.
"Digi-armor, energize!"
"Driamon, armor-digivolve to... Serphamon! The waters of Creation!"
Kishoumon looked at Serphamon in amazement as Sforzie and Shadsie hopped onto the Digimon's back.
"You have more than one form?" Kishoumon said. Serphamon looked back over her shoulder and nodded.
"Let's go, Serphamon!" Sforzie said.
"Hold on tight!"
The sand exploded behind them as Serphamon shoved off into the waves. Fortunately for them, Serphamon was fast. The beach quickly faded, along with the form of Melanomon.
"Why isn't he following us?" Shadsie wondered.
"You really want him to?" Sforzie said. Shadsie shook her head.
"Where are we going?" Serphamon called.
"Back to the mainland for now," Sforzie sighed, touching her nose with a grimace. "We need to regroup and figure out how we're gonna stop him." Shadsie nodded in agreement.
"We're never gonna beat him if we keep running away, but..." Shadsie sighed.
"I wish I could help," Kishoumon whispered.
"Don't worry, you just take care of yourself for now," Sforzie said.
Shadsie looked back at Sunstone Island and frowned. "It's getting darker..."
Sforzie was looking in the opposite direction, at the quickly advancing shoreline. She laughed softly.
"Wow, you make Karamon look like a dinghy, Serphamon," she said.
Serphamon snorted, "Who you callin' a dinghy?"
"Whatever floats your boat, Serphamon."
"I'm not a boat, I'm a liferaft," Serphamon tilted her head. Sforzie and Shadsie laughed.
Serphamon landed on the beach, not far from where Sforzie had originally found her Digi-egg.
"Hey, this place looks familiar," Sforzie smiled.
"Looks like a good place for a nap," Driamon said, covering herself in sand.
"Yeah... there should be a tv-gate nearby," Shadsie said, looking at the screen of her D-terminal.
"Is Kishoumon going to the real world with us?" Driamon wondered, watching Sforzie as she inspected the little Digimon.
"I guess she can," Sforzie said.
"I've never been to the real world before," Kishoumon said uncertainly.
"Don't worry, it's not much worse than being here!" Tigramon laughed. Kishoumon smiled and nodded.
"Okay, at least Melanomon's not there!"
Driamon wiggled her tail in the sand. "That's the spirit!"
"We'll have to wait a while for you to get better before we try anything else with Melanomon," Sforzie said to Kishoumon. The little Digimon nodded.
"I want to help, if I can."
"I know. We'll find a way..."
