I’m sorry maybe I’ve misinterpreted your posts, but to clarify: Griffith selling his body to Gennon you consider rape/SA, but Grifith forcing himself on Charlotte is just "having sex"?

I'm gonna take this in the best faith possible and assume at some point I referenced one or both of these without an accompanying explanation or link to one, so here:

That said, two things:

a) if you've already read those or similar explanatory posts and still sent this then there's no real point in engaging because we're coming at this from two different incompatible angles and I can't have a productive discussion with someone who responds to the characters as if they're real people when I'm talking about narrative framing, thematic resonance, and authorial intent.

b) I hope you didn't mean to imply that you think an adult having sex with a prepubescent child can be consensual. I can respect the position that they're both rape, even if I think that ignores the aforementioned narrative framing themes and authorial intent, but if you think I got it backwards then yikes.

Errrrrm anyways Femto's birth was not an act of revenge on Griffith's part, it was an act of self harm 🐛

His entire self introspection sequence where he's a child again, holding the boy he thought died because of his dream. Griffith is childish, incredibly so. His dream is to have a kingdom, and when given the chance, the first thing he asks for? Wings.

I don't think removing the blame from his hands is the right take, however I'd like people to consider how much deeper his thought process goes in this moment.

Being permanently disabled after prison, having his men look down upon him with pity, being powerless to help Guts and Casca as they were ragdolled around by that apostle; he had lost everything he had fought for and all because he threw a childish tantrum over Guts leaving.

And yet, he rode that horse by himself, didn't he? Away from the hawks, towards a remnant of his dream. He wasn't in fact powerless, given time, he would have healed. Berserk has several disabled characters, I'm sure a pulley system prosthetic glove would have allowed him to flex his fingers and wield a sword once again.

The godhand prey upon his insecurities once they are summoned. They imply he is broken beyond repair, and the hawks, they follow casca now, not him. A huge act of betrayal, because they also believe there is no more use out of Griffith. When he sacrifices it all, the softness of the look he gives Guts... "I'm sorry." Is what it screams to me. His final act of self destruction, to destroy himself along with all he loved.

AND NOW FOR MY POOKIE FEMTO. An entity born out of a childlike dream, stripped of his humanity. I believe the worst thing taken from him, was his ability to regret. If someone has no regret, they cannot weigh their actions, they cannot look in retrospect properly, they lack empathy for their own selves. Femto is Griffith in a way, he has his memories, he was born from his dream, but he's incredibly machine-like. A form of Griffith boiled down to the bare essentials. Femto has no will of his own, the will he inherited is Griffiths. So like, hold the fuck up, isn't that incredibly messed up?

Taking away someone's ability to regret, you freeze them in time. He may move forward in the story, but he remains still. Stoic, following a dream inherited from his human self, which was so full of regrets that it was a crucial part of his character, even if he often denied regretting his actions (unreliable narrator ass.)

In short, sure have four eldeitch beings peer pressure a severely injured man, who is still in the stage where he feels useless given his new disability, and who was literally IN THE PROCESS OF COMMITING SUICIDE; I'm sure he'll have some iron will and not yield.

Hes a self destructive drama queen, don't give an alcoholic a bottle of vodka.

I'm not getting into neoGriff in this because that man is a MESS hes such a fucking liar hes so unreliable, he's the definition of 'source? I made it up.'

What type of horse do you think each berserk character would be?

This is the best ask ever. I love horses, thankyou.

Just before I go ahead and get into this, just a little disclaimer.

Some horses will not match the hair colours of the characters, or at least not all of them. There are certain colours I think suit each character, some will be based on personality, others more so looks but I'll try to find the balance.

I can do other characters as well just ask

Guts - Criollo

Resilient as fuck, very much known for their hardiness and endurance. Think it goes nicely with guts.

Casca - arabian horse

I had a bit of a picky choosey moment with casca but I think she sort of fits with an arabian horse. Purely because of their personality, They don’t do well with being told what to do, and they will work themselves until they drop, essentially. Definitely don't tolerate unfair treatment, very clever horses though.

Griffith - Andalusian

I mean just look at it and tell me it's not him. Very intelligent for a horse, fast learners.

Judeau - quater horse

generally are quite reliable and not overly spooky. Responsive but otherwise chilled, nice horses. Was gonna go for thr all blonde but I didn't think it fit very well so I found this one

Rickert- standardbred

Sort of like the quater horse but a bit more quieter, shyer slightly, a touch more prone to spooking. Gentle, if you give them a job they can do it.

Pippin- shire horse

Gentle giants, absolute softies. Very hard working though, incredibly strong and quiet, him all over.

Corkus - barb

Hot headed, quite stubborn and very much their own horse if that makes sense. Wouldn't get me on one that's for sure, I wouldn't consider them a beginner horse. But that's just me

Is Griffith like supposed to be way older in the anime/movies? Berserk fandom is now calling Charlotte/Griff p*dophilia when I’m 99.9% sure that they only have a 1 year age gap (17 & 18 at the end of Golden Age) between them in the manga. I’ve also seen people say it’s wrong to ship him with Guts because of the age gap???. I’m like what age gap??? Doesn’t Guts say they’re about the same age? They’re listed as being the same age in the official guidebook.

My understanding is that (I think) the companion art book for the ovas says that Griffith is three years older than Guts, for some reason, and people searching for reasons to hate Griffith seize on that to call him a pedophile lol.

But you're absolutely right that the only thing we ever hear about Griffith's age in canon is that he's about as old as Guts, ie fifteen at the start of the Golden Age and eighteen when he sleeps with Charlotte. The official guidebook is correct in this instance. I mean he could easily be slightly younger than Guts, for all we know.

But also lol @ the idea that it's wrong to ship characters with a three year age gap, or that an age gap is what makes griffguts ~*~*~problematic~*~*~
