Camping

Summary: Mickey and the gang go camping

“Are you sure there aren’t any bears out here?”

“There are no bears in New Jersey, Mickey.” Ema was snappier than usual, a result of their mindless wandering out in the outskirts of New Jersey.

Spoon shone a flashlight in her face. “Actually, there are quite a few black bears in New Jersey. It’s a relatively small amount and they aren’t dangerous unless you provoke them.”

Ema slapped the flashlight away. “Point that at me again and I’ll get you before any bear does."

"But then you'll have one less person to help if a bear attacks."

“Does anyone have any idea where we are?” Mickey interrupted.

They had lost their campsite at sundown when Spoon convinced them to visit a pond a few miles away and had been searching for it ever since.

It must've been well past six now, as the skys were pitch black, and Mickey was starting to get angsty. He had never been afraid of the darkness but he had also never experienced darkness quite like this. A complete emptiness. The ambiguity of what surronded him and what it could do. He was relieved to have Spoon and Ema along but wasn’t sure if they'd keep him sane or if their bickering would drive him to insanity.

Spoon crouched, digging into the ragged canvas.

“What are you doing?” Ema snapped.

“I left a trail of jelly beans to track our path but I think something ate them,” he said.

Mickey trailed away from the group. He clicked away the Low Battery signal on his phone and shone his flashlight around. “Hey, guys, I’ve seen this tree stump before. We passed it on our way to camp when we first got here.”

They must’ve not heard him because Spoon and Ema continued their bickering, the sound almost as loud as the chirping cicadas.

“Why would you use jelly beans!” Ema shouted.

“I didn’t exactly think they were an approved animal diet!”

“You idiot! I’ll show you an approved diet—“

Mickey stepped between them, holding his arms out to keep them at bay. It took more force to hold Ema back than expected. The adrenaline from her anger must have upped her strength ten times.

“Guys. Camp. I think it’s over there.”

Spoon stepped back, looking in the direction Mickey pointed.

“Do you hear that?” he said.

The three of them quieted down. And low and behold, between the hum of cicadas was the roar of whales coming from Spoon’s noise machine.

“Follow me!” he said.

Ema slapped Mickey’s arm away and followed behind.

“Why do you even need a noise machine? We’re in the woods. There’s noise everywhere.”

Spoon shrugged. “It helps me sleep better."

When Mickey caught up to them and was back at camp he wanted nothing more than to climb into his tent and fall asleep. Ema was quick to enter her own tent. She zipped it shut without a word.

“Night, Ema!” Spoon yelled before looking at his own unbuilt ten.

Mickey was the only one of them with experience camping. He knew the proper way to build a tent and where to set up camp. He knew how to start a fire and could tell good firewood from bad. Ema quickly catched on, building her tent almost as fast as him, and aquiring a hefty amount of firewood. Spoon, on the other hand, did not. His tent laid on the ground in a sad pile of poles and tarp, next to the twigs he collected for smores.

Mickey sighed. “Do you want to stay in my tent?”

“Yes, please.” Spoon gathered his noise machine and rushed inside.

Mickey followed behind and zipped the tent. He was too tired to register the whistle of whales as he fell asleep.

She’s especially close to Johnny, but this relationship becomes increasingly fraught in the run-up to KK1, as he gets deeper into Cobra Kai and she can’t see a way to get him out. bad boy (no more) - one-shots focusing on a redeemed Mike Barnes, his wife Leah, and their three kids Sarah, Elaine, and Alex. Will be (mostly) unconnected, currently has 6 stories.

The Shieldmaiden Saga -  my longfic Flash AU series featuring Steph Taylor, Eddie Thawne’s childhood best friend who gains force-field powers the night of the accelerator explosion, learns about the truth of the particle accelerator, and plots to bring down Wells with a help of a friend or several, all while also trying to help the metahuman community in Central. Currently has 2 stories.

Cobalt Blue and The Flash - Flash AU where Malcolm Thawne (Eddie’s estranged younger brother) and Barry Allen are best friends, and both get struck by lightning the night of the explosion. Malcolm wakes up five months later, reconciles with his brother, and on discovering his powers becomes Central City’s first hero. But there’s a lot of questions surrounding that night, and he doesn’t really think Wells’ version of events is the whole story, and this is before he finds out superspeed isn’t the only set of powers he has. Currently has 1 story.

On Hiatus:

Niamh Cassidy - Once Upon a Time AU featuring Niamh Cassidy, Neal’s 8-year-old daughter, which will focus on her adventures after her grandfather, her half-brother, and her dad’s old girlfriend (who is her half-brother’s mother) show up on the doorstep looking for her dad, and she finds out that all the weird and wonderful tales she’s been told are true. Currently has 1 story.

The Adventures of Eliana Kent - my Supergirl AU focusing on my OC Eliana Kent, Clark and Lana’s daughter from an alternate universe who was forced (along with thousands of others) to flee from her home universe to Earth-38 after the anti-alien government wipes out most of her family. Suddenly starting to come into the rest of her powers - after 17 years of only having flight and supersenses - following Cadmus’s debut, she soon becomes National City’s newest hero, which brings her face to face with her family’s doppelgangers. Currently has 1in-progress longfic, with 3 chapters.

to fix the timeline (or make it better) - my Krypton AU featuring my OC Ashley Tanner, a friend of Adam’s since high school who was accidently transported alongside him to Rann, and has had many space adventures since then, before deciding to help him save Krypton (as well as the timeline) from Brainiac. But things turn out to be a lot more complicated than they realise. Currently has 1 in-progress longfic, with 8 out of 11 chapters.

emerald legacy - Arrow AU where Oliver is the one who dies in the S1 finale, not Tommy, and as a result it’s up to Tommy to take on the vigilante mantle with the help of his friends and family, with all the problems that brings after an old enemy of Oliver’s decides he’ll just switch his focus to Tommy instead. Currently has 2 stories.

legends of earth-4 - a literal Legends AU focusing on what the Legends of Earth-4 could look like, featuring my OC Brianna Thawne, Eddie’s distant descendant and the Cobalt Blue of her generation, who joins the Legends after she causes a rift in her Team Flash following her attempt to stop an Allen from changing the timeline. Currently has 1 story.

Tales of the Koopalings - my FFN imports focused on the lives of the Koopalings (who in my ‘verse are Bowser’s children). Currently has 2 stories, focused on Ludwig Von and Wendy O. Koopa.

the future (is ours) - a Flash AU where Iris became the Flash and Barry and Eddie were the ones who got together, but even though Eobard is dealt with without any casulties, Eddie can’t help but wonder what his place in Barry’s life is know, knowing what he does of the original timeline.

now we have (the freedom to choose) - An AU of the Legends S1 finale, as Carter talks about destiny with Sara, and realises he wants to branch out on his own as well now that he’s not constantly fearing for his life.

the truth (long overdue) - Spider-Man 2 fix-it where Peter actually explains things to Harry, and unknowingly averts catastrophe.

Ambiguity - FFN import of a story I wrote for the web series Stupid Mario Brothers, showing the events of the Movie Act 2 Part 4 from Mr L’s POV (with a twist)

Steph Taylor - has a civil (if somewhat distant) relationship with her mother, and has had no contact with her father since she was 12.

Brianna Thawne - loved her parents but they (unintentionally) put her under pressure whenever they talked about the family's historic achievements, and as a result things are strained, especially since gaining her powers.

Nicky Connors - didn't get along because her parents never wanted her, ditched her when she was six, and never contacted her again. She tries to love her aunt but has a hard time trusting adults so it's not great (though this will improve in later years).

Eliana Kent - loved her parents very much and wanted to follow in her father's footsteps as a superhero, and was devastated by her father's death (and remains haunted by the unknown fate of her mother).

Ashley Tanner - got on well with her parents, but as they died when she was young is often left wondering whether they'd have been proud to have a daughter instead of a son.

Meri Solo - from the little she remembers, they were good parents, and tried the best they could on such a shitty planet.

Kate Simons - got on with them up until her mutant powers activated, then they kicked her out, and she's never forgiven them.

Emma Johnson - loves them a lot but they lead very different lives and don't agree on a lot of things.

Caitlin Sherwood - maintains a good relationship with her mother, but has little contact with her father since the divorce, and is perfectly fine with that.

Áine an Tordarroch - got along better with her mother than her father, but still loved her father and was devastated when he was lost at sea and wishes she'd known him better.

Marie Douglas - was always left feeling second-best and constantly compared to her older sister, which led her to leave home at 13 and go and live with a cousin. She has not contacted them since.

Brianna Louise Wilson - her first six years were alright, but things changed when her little brother was born and it became clear he was the favourite. The relationship with her parents deteriorated to the point that she started wishing her uncle's friend Gibbs was her father, and went to live with her friend Jessica on her eighteenth birthday, eventually cutting all contact with her parents after they were unsympathetic about the death of her other friend Steven.

Hello! First just wanna say that I absolutely love your fics! Any tips on how to survive 4x08-09? I was feeling okay in the hiatus, but with Sunday coming up & the promos, idk how to feel about watching them, esp knowing Ashley is coming up after them. And as much as I used to enjoy the “crumbs” I imagine I’ll just end up more disappointed (really trying to lower my expectations here lol). The toxic positivity/gatekeeping against critique that’s popping up again isn’t helping either imo 😞

Here are some ways I plan to survive 4x08-09:

- prepare a facemask and do some self-indulgent self care before/during the episodes

- have people to talk it through with (my inbox is open!)

- I do my best to avoid sneak peeks, they only rile me up!

- find some good fanfic to get lost in

- watch the show through realistic, not rose-coloured, glasses

We don't know that is going to happen with these two episodes, which is both good and bad! All the anticipation and fear just growing in our hearts, but also it is ending on a Christmas episode, which historically in the history of television are feel good episodes. I am picking other things to focus on for the episode - Smitty, and Tamara, looking for. Cujo mention. The show, for me, is about more than shipping, so I also want to see what Grey is up to, and if Henry and Abigail have called it quits. side note: does anyone like Abigail as a character more than Henry? I am watching to see how Lucy deals with Christmas, and maybe her DOD anniversary, and what Tim does when faced with his dad and sister. Do I have hopes and dreams? Yes. Am I prepared to be crushed? Also, yes.

I am over crumbs. Give me a whole damn slice, or don't tease me with catnip. I am not a fucking cat. Don't infantilize me. Don't give me a string of emojis that ultimately mean nothing. This is bad fandom interaction - and only serves to further alienate the viewer from trusting the writers/producers.

Don't let the gatekeeping get you down!

I am sad/upset/annoyed about where we are with the season as a whole, and Chenford in particular. I am not going to listen to someone who is intent on willfully misinterpreting what I am saying. I am also not someone who watch a show and put it down, even silly shows, I annoy my friends and family because I want to direct it. That is the part that makes it fun for me - the deeper look. I am someone who always wants the truth, and my own interest align with the hidden meaning and history behind word choices and symbolism.

Love & Basketball

Summary: Mickey teaches Ashley to play basketball

b/c we didn’t get enough scenes of them :(

Mickey felt Ashley’s eyes on him. Her gaze burned hotter than the afternoon sun. He wore a sleeveless tank top to avoid the heat but was starting to think she alone could cause heatstroke. It almost threw him off his game.

Almost.

Ashley studied him carefully. She watched as he dribbled the ball before letting it fly in the air and into the basketball hoop. She thought about how good he was at basketball, how effortlessly he handled the ball, like it could never escape from him. He gripped it in his hands and lifted his arms. She looked away when his tank top rose, revealing the remnants of a happy trail.

Her arms rose in celebration when the ball fell through the hoop with a swish sound.

“You’re really good at that,” she said.

He smiled, wiping sweat off his forehead. “I’ve been playing since I was a kid.” He found a spot in front of her on his driveway. The basketball laid between his legs before Ashley grabbed it.

“I don’t think I’ve ever made a shot in my life,” she said, grabbing her chin. “Nope. Never.” Her hand-eye coordination was almost as bad as her Spanish.

Mickey stole the ball back from Ashley. “I can show you how.”

“Oh, no. No no no.” She shook her head.

Mickey grinned, standing. “You can’t be with me and not know how to shoot a ball. That’s like… if the ice cream man sold pickles instead of ice cream.”

Ashley laughed, she couldn’t help it. Mickey was never short on bad analogies. He had an everlasting supply that always made her laugh.

“Whatever. You know what I mean.” He pulled her to her feet. “Stand here. Spread your legs like this.” He demonstrated two slightly separated feet. Ashley followed along. “Bend your knees, then dribble and release.”

Once again the ball flew effortlessly into the hoop. Mickey chased it before passing it to Ashley.

She caught it nervously.

Ashley was usually nervous and quite shy, but it wasn’t shooting the ball she was afraid of. It was looking dumb while doing it. That feeling you get after you embarrass yourself. The memories that haunt you even years after the embarrassing event first occurred.

But she tried anyway.

The ball hit the backboard before falling to the ground. No swish. No score. She had missed.

“Not bad,” Mickey said, retrieving the ball.

“Not great,” Ashley said.

“Your hands… You were holding the ball wrong. Let me—here.” He handed her the ball, adjusting her hold on it. He put one of her hands on top and the other on the side, then looped to the front to examine his work. “That’s good,” he said, nodding. “Try now.”

Ashley dribbled the ball, careful not to ruin her hand placement, then bent her knees, jumped, and released.

Swish, the sound was overshadowed by Mickey’s cheers.

He scooped her in his arms and all she could smell was his amber scent. All she could feel was his warm sweaty skin against hers. He spun her around a while before putting her down.

They were face-to-face now. Both smiling. Both leaning forward. Mickey was slightly out of breath, his mind preoccupied with Ashley, and Ashley, still reeling from her shot, was incredibly nervous. They were going to kiss. They had never kissed before.

Their faces were inches away when Shira Bolitar came outside.

“Hey guys, I’m gonna order a pizza. Is pepperoni okay?” she asked.

Ashley had never been so red.

Mickey had never wanted Shira gone more.

He pushed down a surge of anger and said, “Pepperoni’s fine!”

Ashley nodded, following Ms. Bolitar into the house.

They’d have to save their kiss for another day.

of legacies and lies - Alex Thompson, Jack Thompson’s granddaughter, goes on the run after the SHIELDRA reveal, and has to deal with the fact that her entire career in SHIELD has been a lie. Meanwhile Jack and Sarah - his wife - are making sure she’s going to get a fair trial when she reaches the US.

a god’s reflection - Loki’s POV after his initial imprisonment post-Avengers as he thinks about his actions, and regrets that he’ll never really have a chance to make amends because he’ll likely be imprisoned for the rest of his life.

when one door closes (another opens) - On Earth-4 in the 22nd Century, Brianna Thawne (Eddie’s distant descendant and her generation’s Cobalt Blue) takes Sara Lance up on her offer to join the Legends.

now we have (the freedom to choose) - an AU of Legends’ S1 finale. Kendra isn’t the only one dealing with destiny, but Carter too - and since he’s the one who always remembers first, it’s unlikely he’s ever had much chance to be with other people like Kendra has. Featuring a more self-aware Carter and a heart to heart with Sara Lance.

you’ve always been (a part of me) - A Seg/Adam fic set 40 years after Krypton’s S2 finale, where they’ve been together almost as long - and Seg is hit with the realization that he’ll eventually outlive Adam.

speak (and i’ll listen) - a short MonWinn fic set in an AU of Supergirl S2 (the AU being that they’re together, and not Mon and Kara). Winn stresses over not being able to stop Music Meister. Mon does his best to comfort him.

to new beginnings - A Westhallen short fic written for Polyam Shpping Day #14, set in an alternate season 2 and featuring the three of them discussing New Year’s resolutions.

brothers (lost and found) - the first part of Cobalt Blue and The Flash, where Barry Allen and Malcolm Thawne have been best friends for six years, with Barry essentially taking on the role of big brother due to Malcolm’s estrangement from his own brother. When Malcolm gets struck by lightning while trying (and failing) to prevent Barry from suffering the same fate, he wakes up five months later with speedster powers, and unbeknownst to him this changes everything.

doubt (and the bonds of love) -  Another short MonWinn fic, set in an alternate S3 where Mon-El never left Earth. Mon-El has become distant all of a sudden and Winn is determined to find out why.

to live and rise (and hope again) - longfic about Eliana Kent, Clark and Lana’s daughter from an alternate universe, as she experiences a massive power boost, becomes a hero, and joins the DEO, while still dealing with her family’s loss and having to work with two of their counterparts.

the future (is ours) - a short Thallen fic, set in a AU where Iris is the Flash, Eobard got defeated without any casulties, and Barry and Eddie are dating - Eddie second guessing his relationship with Barry after Eobard’s manipulations.

right here (is where i’m meant to be) - A lazy morning Segdam fic set post-canon.

Cobra Kai Mini Rewrites - a series of unnconnected oneshots that are rewrites on certain scenes in the show that annoyed me. Complete at 18 stories.

bad boy (no more) - my collection of Mike Barnes redemption fics, which are all standalone, but have the consistent elements of Mike’s wife Leah and his three children, Sarah, Elaine, and Alex. Currently has 5 stories.

the truth (long overdue) - a Spider-Man 2 fix-it fic where Peter actually explains things to Harry instead of rushing off and leaving him alone, and this changes everything.

looking for america (coming through your schools) - the first part of the Nicky Connors, Cobra Adjacent series, which focuses on Nicky Connor’s friendship with the OG Cobras, particulary Johnny. This fic is set on New Year’s Eve 1983, with the six of them reflecting on the year past and being hopeful about 1984.

I don't know if you have the AH twitter but there is a tweet were Geoff blows two air horns in the editing room. Could you do a fic where the reader is in the room when Geoff blows the airhorns? She then chases him out yelling and curse. Geoff laughs and yells behind him "This is why I love you." Then they both stop realizing Geoff just confessed.

“Hey have any of you seen a spare xbox controller? I thought I brought it in here when I was streaming earlier but I haven’t seen it.”

Larry just looked up at you and back down at his computer. Ashley, Neal, and Kent at least gave you soft, apologetic nos. Andy actually turned around, “Where’d you see it last?”

You gave him a look, “In my hand.”

Andy made a face, “Oh, that makes sense. Nope! Haven’t seen it!”

As he spun around a loud blaring noise filled the room followed by the familiar giggling of your boyfriend.

“Geoff Ramsey!” you shouted and already started to make your way towards him.

Geoff was smart though and already out of the room and running down the hall, laughing manically. You were swearing at him up and down as you ran after him.

“And this is why I love you,” Geoff giggled.

You halted in your chase. Geoff slowed and stopped not far in front of you.

“You love me?” you asked.

You jumped as a celebratory air horn went off. You spun to yell at whoever did it but Jeremy and Gavin were already down at the other end of the hall. You sighed and turned back to Geoff who caught you by surprise with a kiss.

He was slow and careful but you could feel the heat in the kiss as Geoff cupped your cheeks. You relaxed and kissed him back with the same fire, arms snaking around his neck.

When he pulled away, he gave you a nervous smile, “Of course I love you. I loved you since I saw you but I figured that’d be weird to start with ‘Hi. I’m Geoff and I love you.’”

“Yeah a little weird,” you cracked a smile, “I didn’t love you at first.”

Geoff’s grin grew, “But?”

“But you grew on me. I guess I love you too.”

“I’ll take it,” he chuckled and pulled you back in for another kiss.

Rooster Teeth Rules & Guidelines 3.0

So my last posting of this was in 2015 so I feel it is time to remake this post so that anyone and every, old fans and new fans, can know exactly what is okay and what is not okay in terms of Shipping Fanart/Fanfic. I will not put this under a read more as it is extremely important to know.

This is a second repost of our original post. I wanted this new in the tags for any new members to the fandom and are not aware of this. I will be reposting it Probably either every 6 or 12 months to keep the cycle going.

Also, eventually I will be making a new page on ths blog that will outline each employee individually, about the information provided below so its not so…clustered.

Not only have I been seeing it a lot, but I’ve gotten a few… not complaints, but I’ve been informed of this issue as well - and I figure I’ll make a post to address it. Because yes, this is extremely important, and a lot of the newcomers don’t know.

Geoff Ramsey (Millie)

Back when the fandom was new and baby, and it got the attention of those at Rooster Teeth, Geoff explicitly said do not include Millie in any way into fanfiction. The original post and blog indicating this for proof has been passworded, but I found in fuckyeahot6 a nice summary of the rules, which include it so please, look these over. Some older original rules can be seen in those two links, but recently we’ve acquired the permission from Kyle’s girlfriend that she is now alright with us shipping Kyle. I’ve gone through our chat video with Ryan Haywood and he spoke that anything is alright, because he won’t ever read it so “let the creativity flow”

Some other points of interest that I’ve collected are from a few others. 

Caiti and Jack

Starting with Caiti, when she came into our chat, she told us that she, and Jack, are fine with it just make sure that no harm/noncon/abuse/cheating. You can view her answer here.

Caleb and Jordan Denecour

Caleb has mentioned time and time again, and he was the original one to bring forth Geoff’s request of Mille, that he is fine with the shipping; in fact he enjoys the ones where he dies. And in a TAB podcast at 1:01:55 ish Caleb also says he is alright with fanfics.

However, Caleb’s brother, Jordan, is not comfortable with shipping at all, so please do not include him in anyway , as is the same with all the children of Rooster Teeth that appear on the Game Kids Channel. Just don’t do it.

Kdin Jenzen

Kdin has also gotten an ask and replied to it that Kdin is fine with it, seeing it as a creative outlet and so long as we know it’s fictional, Kdin’s alright with it all.  We got an ask in regards to Kdin’s girlfriend saying no to shipping them, so we asked them and we got a positive confirmation that they are fine with it so long as it’s not explicit/gross. So no psychoteeth or the like.   Kdin does not want anything smut of her. Kdin has also clarified as to what pronouns to use, and Kdin uses female pronouns.

Tina

Tina is okay with shipping, she just asks that we keep the fics morally sound.

Jeremy Dooley

While going through the tags I saw this post here indicating that the new hire Jeremy was more that honoured to be written in fanfics.

Jeremy Dooley is 100% okay with anything written of him! He does like to read things where Trevor dies for some reason though…

Josh Flanagan

Josh Flanagan, creator of Ten Little Roosters and The Eleven Little Roosters, speaks out that it’s fine to have him in your writing. “I’m pretty ambivalent on it. Write away” (source)

JJ

Through our RT guest chats, we’ve tried to get their opinions to take a look through all that. Far as I can remember, they are all ok, with a few rules, JJ’s of no socks with sandals is the best.

Ryan Haywood

In regards to Ryan Haywood, I’ve recently gone back through our chat with him, and he said that anything is okay in regards with him since won’t ever read it - it doesn’t bother him. He understands its a creative outlet.  And it should not have to be mentioned, but please keep Ryan’s kids out of it too. In fact, keep all the kids out of it unless they are an OC child.

Michael and Lindsay Jones (Iris Jones)

As far as we know, theses two are okay with it, but the issue is with Iris Jones. Having a child does inspiring a ton of fanfics being written about this event, which is totally okay! The only this is to keep the baby/child as an OC and not as the actual baby. If this doesn’t make sense imagine Geoff and Griffon having a child, a girl named Rachel instead who’s very much into dresses and dolls. This is just an example.

In response to Game Kids Channel, under no circumstance are you to ship or even write about any of the kids. Jordan Denecour has been asked as well and he is not comfortable with it. While Caleb has said nothing sexual, I ask that we please keep him out of everything. Especially Incest.

Funhaus

Funhaus has said they’re okay with shipping! In fact, its an honour! If anything individually comes up with them, we’ll let you know :D

Mica Burton

Mica Burton gladly welcomes shipping with arm’s wide open and actually cannot wait to see what comes up!

Steffie Hardy

Steffie is honored people even want to create stuff with her in it. Honestly, do whatever you want. She’s okay with shipping!  

The Support Team

Everyone’s good with it. Right from AH’s mouth. This includes Ashley, Neal, Kent, Larry, Matt, Steffie, Trevor, and Alfredo. According to this post where they say whos in the support room.. 

Arryn Zech is not to be written in anything at all.

Keep family out of shipping. This goes for children and wives and siblings. I’ve noticed, and a few others in the community, that there is a rise in ships with Ryan’s wife/mentions of his children, not to mention the blatant disregard for Geoff wanting to keep Millie out of fics. Yes, I’ve seen many fics still having her in them since this post started circulating.

Keep. Family. Out

And another issue that I’ve seen many, many, many, many, many times is that there are shipping things that are tagged with name tags For example, freewood smut tagged with #Ryan Haywood and #Gavin Free, or reader inserts tagged with the person they are with. There is a strict reason why we keep shipping things out or name tags - it brings the hate. While, for the most part, all Ragehappy fans are Rooster Teeth fans, not all Rooster Teeth fans are Ragehappies. They do not want to see anything RPF and when they do, things like hate infect the shipping tags.

I hope this clears up a few things. Please stop writing Millie in fics. Please stop posting fics with name tags.
