#OC: Alex Thompson

It's Work in Progress Wednesday and I've been trying to make a dent in my WIP list!! I completed and uploaded the Wario centric one yesterday and I've been trying to make some headway into the others using the advice from the WIP clearout post. The first extract is from my 'Alex & Daniel' wip - where Daniel Sousa offers to look after an eight-year-old Alex Thompson for the day, and is a little apprehensive about it.

Daniel would like to say that he didn’t know how he’d been talked into this, but that would be a lie – he’d been talked into it because the Thompsons were practically family and had asked for this favour, and because Peggy was too busy at SHIELD to help look after Alex for the day, so it had been left up to him.

It wasn’t like he hadn’t had to look after children before, of course, but still, he couldn’t help but be a little nervous – he’d only looked after Alex a handful of times and those had been when she was very small, not the bouncy eight-year-old who’d be coming to stay for a few hours, and there was always a worry about having to look after someone else’s child. Especially the granddaughter of one of his closest friends. Plus, he wasn’t exactly getting any younger here, so he wouldn’t be able to keep up as much as he might’ve done back in the day – and he already felt exhausted as Sophia parked the car and Alex came running over with a speed he envied. “Uncle Daniel!” She rushed towards him and for a second he feared she was about to leap at him and expect him to catch her because that really would send him crashing to the floor— She didn’t. She did, however, knock the wind out of him and almost bowl him over with the force of the resulting hug. “Oof.” “Sorry!” She jumped back, apologetic. “I didn’t hurt you, did I? Mom says I get too overexcited sometimes.” “I’m fine.” He assured her as he got his breath back, Sophia coming over and looking faintly amused. “Nothing wrong with a hug, kiddo, you just gotta be a little careful - you could’ve knocked me flying.” “Sorry.” She hugged him gentler this time. “I’ve just been looking forward to this for ages.” “I got that.” He said with a laugh, returning the hug. “It’s great to see you too, Alex.”

I have identified a couple of the main blocks; not only have I not watched the source material for a few years, but...I also don't have a clear plan for the fic!! Which isn't helpful, but now I know I can work on it - I've already found both seasons so a rewatch will be a great help (and not just for this one).

Another one I've been working on is...the Sad Westhallen Fic!! Which might not be as sad as it originally was - Barry's still dead but the bulk of the fic is going to be his friends and family sharing all the good memories they have and celebrating his life - but, of course, Eddie and Iris are still dealing with the loss, compounded by the fact their twins have basically no memories of their dad.

It wasn't meant to be like this. Days after Eddie had been freed from captivity, days after Barry, Oliver, and Teams Flash and Arrow brought down Eobard and called in Rip Hunter to see justice served, that had been when he'd finally start to believe - at least a little - that maybe, maybe things would get better. It had been far from easy, of course - Eddie and Iris's relationship was...not on hold, exactly, but any talk of marriage was shelved for the time being until he got the help he needed, which had made sense, of course, but...part of him had worried that she'd choose Barry in the end after all, because the other man was kind and brave and unflinching, someone who would treat Iris right and all Eddie had ever, ever wanted was for Iris to be happy. And if Barry was the one to make her happy... Who was he to stand in the way of that? Course, this had been a symptom of his depression, and once he'd started going to therapy he'd realised how spectacularly untrue it was. Iris and Barry were nothing but supportive the whole time and Iris assured him that she still loved him and always would. She wasn't going anywhere - and neither was Barry. This had made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside - and he'd finally had to admit that yes, he was in love with Barry too, and had been for some time.

This one needs a rewatch too, so it'll either be this or Agent Carter that I rewatch after I finished OUAT S1.

Hi

I want to write but, I have like no motivation to do so. So have a bit of an unnamed OC book about a non-binary college student named Emerald who becomes a supervillain with the goal of getting revenge on everyone who wronged them and their friends starting with the person who started it all. It's just part of the first chapter and the whole plot isn't fleshed out yet. I don't even know if I'm going to finish this book, but maybe if enough people actually like it, I'll post the whole chapter.

(TW for deadnaming, bigotry, etc. You don't have to read, but please at least look at the picrews of the characters at the bottom. I worked hard on them please)

Later that day, I had finally made it back to mine and Felix's apartment. Felix seemed to have just gotten home too because they were rummaging through the fridge and still wearing one of my sweaters.

"Hello my favorite queer!" I greeted in a sing-song voice. I could tell that Felix was rolling his eyes with a goofy smile spreading across his face.

"Hey, fruit!" Felix greeted back. We always called each other silly names like that. It was fun and we never got mad because we respected each other's boundaries. "How were your boring classes?"

"Boring, just like you said. And yours?"

"I didn't fall asleep during Mr. Thompson's class today so that's a plus. And we did a lab during Mrs. Graham's class!" Felix said excitedly and started to ramble on about some drama between these two random people in their math class. 

Felix was one of the most important people in my life. I loved them to death, from their bright red dyed hair, their fern green eyes, and their bright, crooked, and contagious smile, they were my best friend. I always had their back and I know that they would have mine too. An hour or two later, there was a knock on the door. Felix and I were both sitting on the couch and quickly did a game of 'rock, paper, scissors' to see which one of us would open the door, which I lost. When I opened the door, Alex and Ryder were stood there with small bags and wide smiles. 

"Hey guys!" I greeted.

"Hi Em!" Ryder said pulling me into a hug and placed a small platonic kiss on my forehead. He was taller than me and wouldn't let me forget it; I didn't mind though. Even though he was anti-confrontational, he would still protect us if anything happened. A true gentle giant if I do say so myself.

"Hey babes." Alex smiled and also gave me a tight hug. Alex was the gremlin of the group. She was always down for anything whether it would be fighting, telling a waiter/waitress that they got our food wrong, or anything in between. They were unpredictable, but we loved them regardless. After exchanging pleasantries, we turned on some music and all started to get ready to go to dinner.

I didn't think that day - this one singular dinner - would put me on my current path, but here we are.

After dinner, we decided that we weren't done having fun yet. It's Friday night and we're young adults! Why shouldn't we be able to have fun with a little alcohol!? So, we four decided to walk downtown and enjoy the scenery. We decided to go to a little bar not far from Fe and I's apartment so we could all just crash back there afterwards. We stayed in the bar for a little while and noticed that the bartenders had changed two people with dyed hair, nose piercings, and pins on their clothes, to a bored looking couple.

"Let's get more drinks!" Alex suggested happily over the music.

"Okay, but not too much! Some of us have to work tomorrow, right?" Felix reminded which Ryder nodded in agreement to. He worked at a library, and no one wants to get help from a grumpy librarian. Alex fist pumped in excitement before pulling us toward the bar to order.

"Hey, I'm Lindsey and I'll be your bartender for tonight. What can I get you?" The femme presenting bartender greeted us with a fake smile. I didn't know why at first, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I had seen her before. 

"Hi! I want a Mojito, please!" Alex ordered. He was having the time of his life and already a little bit tipsy. After that, Felix ordered a Tequila Sunrise, Ryder got a "Dark and Stormy", and I got a simple Whisky Sour. Lindsey nodded and turned away to start making our drinks. To lessen the load, she told a guy to do some to help her and our drinks were done in like five minutes.

"Okay! One Tequila Sunrise for the red head." She started and handed Felix their drink. " A Mojito for the hyper girl," She gave Alex his drink causing his smile to fall a bit. He had a big "he/him" pin on his top loud and proud. "A Dark and Stormy for the tall one, and a whisky sour for the brown-haired girl." Lindsey ended and gave Ryder and I our drinks as well. I was going to say thank you and let go of the misgendering because not everyone knows what the non-binary flag looks like, but I noticed that Alex looked upset. I couldn't just not say anything.

"Thank you, but actually you got some of our pronouns wrong." I said politely. Lindsey looked at me with a blank expression and didn't move to say anything for a moment.

"Oh. That's crazy. Sucks I guess." She said with a small laugh. I looked around at my friends and noticed Ryder giving Lindsey the most criminal side eye.

"First of all, that's basic respect. You don't have to do anything but say sorry and correct yourself. Second, you... wait- I remember you. Lindsey Smith? From Thermopolis, Wyoming?" I asked and silently hoped that I was wrong.

"Yeah? Do I know you?" She asked. I looked down at the drink in front of me and let out a rough sigh. My chest started to burn in vexation and when I looked up, I made eye contact with Felix.

"You know what? You do." I started. "Have I ever said what made my parents put me in Rightside Camp? You guys remember Rightside, yeah? Alex? Ryder? Do you remember the "treatments" that they put us through before the age of 17?" I asked making sure Lindsey could hear. All three of my friends looked up at me; Ryder's eyes got wide, and Alex sunk in his seat and stirred his drink slowly before taking a small sip as the venom filled words dripped from my lips.

"You haven't told me yet, Em." Felix said. I laughed humorlessly and began my lament.

"When I was a freshman in high school, I figured out that I was non-binary. I wanted to tell my best friend who knew everything about me because I thought I could trust her. I went up to her one morning at school and I said 'Hey Linds,'" I looked up at Lindsey to see her looking confused and a bit annoyed. "'I have something really important to tell you, but I'm still figuring it out, so you can't tell anyone. Okay?' And she said 'okay.' I told her 'I think I'm non-binary. I don't feel like a girl and I'm definitely not a boy.' And she said that she wouldn't tell anyone. By second period, the whole grade knew. By lunch, the entire student body knew. By last period, every teacher in our conservative school was looking at me like I had a disease. When I got home, my parents were waiting for me at the door. Do you know what they did Fe?" I asked Felix but kept looking at Lindsey.

"What happened?" I could hear the worry in their voice. 

"They sent me to Rightside, a conversion camp, at the ripe old age of 15 years old. They took so much from me all because one little girl decided to gossip, and say shit against her friend's back. All because one little girl craved attention or whatever so much that she would completely betray and out her own best friend. So yes, Lindsey Smith, you do know me. And even if you don't remember me, I remember you. You ruined my life." Lindsey looked at me like I had said the most outrageous thing she had ever heard.

"Eliza Johnson?" she asked incredulously.

"That hasn't been my name in years. It's Emerald now." I was silently seething at this point, and I couldn't tell whether I wanted to either leave, or drown in my whisky.

"Well, whatever your name is, I'm sorry you feel this way, but it's not my problem. It's been like 10 years since then, and I'm working. Maybe you should have been more careful with telling people your secrets." The brunette said in a disgustingly condescending tone.

"Okay, I don't know who you think you're talking to but-" I started to become loud as the hurricane of anger, hatred, disgust, and so much more started to bubble over and spill onto the fire that was that memory, before Ryder and Felix could pull me away from the counter in an attempt to defuse the situation.

"Okay! That's enough! Em, honey! It's okay. Calm down. That bigot isn't worth your breath." Ryder turned me away to make me focus on him and calm down. Felix also held onto me to make sure I couldn't go back to argue with her. I'm not religious, but I thank God for the friends that I have. Wait, friends!

"Alex! Where is he?!" I turned around and saw Alex looking extremely angry while talking to Lindsey and the guy who helped her make our drinks.

The Meeting.

November 12th, 2015. 0632 hours 12 Miles off the coast of Romania.

Command: "Shamrock, this is Command. Requesting status update, over."

The Black Shamrock: "Command, this is The Black Shamrock. We have visual on the cargo ship. Cargo ship identified as target vessel. Standby for interception coordinates, over."

Command: "Roger that, Shamrock. We cannot let them cross into Russian waters. Standing by for coordinates and situation report, over.”

…

The Black Shamrock: "Command, this is The Black Shamrock. Target cargo ship intercepted, speed successfully reduced to 5 knots. We've cut them off right before international waters so this has to happen now. Transmitting coordinates, over."

Command: "Copy that, Shamrock. Good work on slowing down the cargo ship.”

Command: “All units, this is Command. Urgent update. Eagle Eye, you have limited time for insertion. The success of the operation depends on The Black Shamrock holding down the cargo ship. Expedite your approach. Over."

Eagle Eye: "Command, this is Eagle Eye. Copy that, limited time for insertion. We're three mikes out from the current coordinates. Ready to expedite approach. Over."

Command: "Shamrock, keep them busy! Eagle Eye, you're clear to proceed with insertion. Approach from the North. Expedite your approach and secure the cargo ship. Weapon’s hot. Over."

Eagle Eye: "Command, this is Eagle Eye. Copy that, proceeding with expedited insertion. Will confirm drop zone secure before departure. Eagle Eye out."

Command: “Roger, Eagle Eye. Shamrock, standby for immediate support and prepare teams for follow-up action once the ship has been secured.”

The Black Shamrock: "Roger, Command. Will stand by for support. Continuing to monitor the situation and standing by for further instructions. Shamrock out."

“Time to move, SEALs! Hope you’ve got your sea legs on!” Lieutenant Alex "Ace" Rodriguez’s voice reverberated through the headsets before he got up from his seat, and approached the exit.

The remaining SEALs sprung to their feet, getting into formation. One group dropping at the forecastle, another downrange at the poop deck. Five SEALs in each, meeting in the middle.

A young Victoria Callahan rappels down the line and drops atop a cargo container, immediately opening fire on the hired guns controlling the cargo ship, to cover the descent of her crewmates. 

The helicopter’s blades are loud, and, mixed with the sound of gunfire, it prevents her from hearing the Russian commands being shouted by the traffickers around the ship. But nothing they can say would stop the assault. She downs three hired guns in the time it takes her squad to fully insert.

Dropping from the cargo containers, the team slips into an assault formation, marching forward and peeking between the rows of cargo containers, clearing them efficiently.

They quickly continue taking out the majority of the traffickers, plucking them out one by one, as they come out to try and defend their precious ‘cargo’. As if human beings could or should be considered such a thing.

Once they lock eyes with the crew coming from the back, they split again: 

a group of four led by Lieutenant Alex "Ace" Rodriguez going up to the bridge and crew deck;

four others led by Chief Petty Officer Michael "Bulldog" Thompson heading below deck to clear all the halls;

and the last two, amidst which is Senior Chief Petty Officer David "Wolf" Miller, going container-to-container, popping them open and looking for ‘stragglers’ (aka other hired guns, mixed amidst the terrified, groggy victims, to keep them secure).

Victoria descends the stairs in the second to last spot of the standard CQC formation, right behind her squadron’s leader. As the only woman in the whole team, she’s given the ‘less burdensome’ task of carrying a bag with dozens of flexi-cuffs in her pack, so they can restrain whoever they find.

After they start clearing room-to-room, restraining or killing whoever they find, Bulldog’s radio goes off: “All stations, this is ‘Ace’, we have taken control of the ship. I repeat: target has been seized.”

Command: “Copy that, Ace. Shamrock, you are clear to onboard.”

The Black Shamrock: “Roger. Sending a vessel lead by Lieutenant-Commander O’Malley, callsign 'Pirate', over.” 

“Ace to Bulldog, how copy?”

“Go for Bulldog.” Cobra answered, stopping the crew’s march so he could respond.

“Bulldog, finish clearing below deck and standby until we get back to land.”

“Copy that, Ace.” 

“You heard the boss, team. Let’s continue clearing these rooms.” Bulldog said as he looked around at his small crew.

“Yes, sir!” The group replied.

After clearing all the rooms and securing all the not-neutralized prisoners below deck in a locked room with Special Warfare Operators Third Class William Brown and Cole Johnson watching over them, Victoria was left pacing the halls, some of the other Second Class operators being sent down to assist her, pacing the entirety of the below deck, in alternate hallways.

It’s during her pacing that she suddenly hears steps behind her, echoing on the metal platforms above and coming thundering down the staircase. Assuming it to be a straggler, one of the traffickers, making some sort of break for it, Victoria whipped around, aiming at the unknown intruder on the stairs. “STOP!” The girl shouted.

A woman. With wild curly brown hair, wearing a Navy uniform, stopped in her tracks, hands already reaching for a pistol at her hip. “Don’t you fucking DARE. Who the fuck are you?” 

Standing a few feet from one another, at an impasse, stood the only two women aboard the entire cargo ship… Other than the poor trafficking victims still inside the containers.

The woman’s eyes locked onto Victoria’s uniform, seeing the American flag she wore front and center on the chest panel of her chest rig. Then, she stopped reaching for her pistol and said something in reply, hands held out openly on either side of her, to demonstrate she wasn’t a threat. Unfortunately for her, Victoria didn’t understand it.

“What the fuck kind of gibberish was that? English or Russian, pick one, damnit.” The American raised her voice, her southern accent becoming increasingly stronger as she shouted commands at the other woman who was only looking at her with a softened gaze and a bit of a smile.

The woman before her simply turned a bit to display the sleeve of her uniform. The Irish flag. “Lieutenant-Commander O’Malley, soldier.” Her voice was a lot easier to understand this time, a conscious effort to soften her strong brogue for the American to understand her.

“Oh SHIT!” Victoria said as she quickly lowered her rifle under her arm and raised her hand, saluting the foreign Lieutenant with a sharp, respectful salute. “I’m sorry, ma’am. Didn’t know who you were and didn’t expect anyone to come down here without communicating-” Victoria was quick to justify herself.

O’Malley descended the last few steps. “At ease. You don’t need all that formality with me.” She assured the American as she approached, hands on her hips.

Victoria nodded fervently. “Sorry…” She huffed and fixed her grip on her rifle, holding it at a ready carry. 

“What’s yer name?”

“Special Warfare Operator Second Class Victoria Callahan, ma’am.” She replied.

“Christ, that’s a mouthful.” O’Malley replied. “I’m Meabh.” She introduced herself. “And I think Imma call you Tori, if that’s alright with ye.” The Irish one replied with a smirk.

Blinking a bit, Victoria nodded. “This is the weirdest interaction I’ve ever had in my time in service. But, yeah, that’s okay.”

“You Americans are so serious.” Meabh teased with a smile. “Walk around like you’ve got a stick up the arse.”

Victoria couldn’t help but laugh at that, looking away for a moment, to try and conceal it, still too molded into the standard ‘Don’t get too friendly with superiors’ mantra.

“Oh, come on, I told ya to stand at ease. C’mon!” Meabh teased and nudged Victoria with her elbow before she started walking off to go retrieve whatever she came below deck for.

“Sorry. Not used to this…” Victoria admitted and gulped as she walked by Meabh’s side. Should she, realistically, be walking along with the Lieutenant Commander and deserting her position in the hall? No. But she was going to.

“How old are you?” Meabh asked her, causing Victoria’s eyes to widen a bit.

“Twenty-four.”

“Twenty-four?! I’m twenty-two!” Meabh replied cheerfully. 

Victoria’s eyes are widened. Not because Meabh was young, she looked it! But because she was extremely cheerful, almost like she was trying to make a friend out of Victoria, rather than walking around like they were mere colleagues.

It was bizarre.

“You’re very…” Victoria dared to speak, her voice level and even. “...bubbly.”

“Should I not be?”

“I had a rifle pointed at you a minute ago.”

“But now you don’t!”

“I could’ve shot you.”

“But you didn’t!”

“I don’t understand you.”

“Really? I’m trying to soften my accent for you!”

“No, your personality!” Victoria explained as she looked to the side at Meabh, her head craned. “Is it an Irish thing or a you thing?”

“Probably a me thing.”

“Oh.”

“I just don’t see the point in being serious and bossy when I don’t have to be.”

“Hm.” Victoria murmured as she looked away, lost in thought. 

“You’re a stunner.”

Victoria’s head snapped to the side, eyes widened as she stared at Meabh. “Huh?”

“A stunner. Pretty. Beautiful.”

“Thank you…?”

“You’re welcome!”

As they reached the room Meabh had to get to, Whiskey opened the door with one of the ID cards she had swiped from one of the hostage traffickers, allowing Meabh inside.

“You’re… pretty too.” Victoria ended up returning the compliment just as Meabh was going in the door.

“I like you. We should hang out after this. Get a drink. Do you drink?” Meabh asked, excitedly. “Where are you stationed?”

“I do. And, uh… Italy, supposedly. Naples. But… all over Eastern Europe really.” She admitted. “Haven’t stopped in the last six months.”

“I’ll write you, then. We’ll plan something while we’re on leave! Could have a ceilidh.”

“A... what?”

"A party!"

"Oh. Okay..."

Meabh turned to gather the ship logs she had wanted to get before she bounded back down the hall. "Come with me."

"I can't desert my station-"

"Yes, ye can. Your CO's 'Ace', right?"

"Yeah?"

Meabh turned and grabbed her radio from her belt. "Ace, this is Pirate, how copy?"

"Send traffic, Pirate."

"Relieve Petty Officer Callahan of her duties ASAP. I'd like her assistance up in the bridge."

Victoria's brow raised in surprise when she heard Meabh and her CO discussing it.

"As you wish, ma'am...? Copy that."

Victoria's radio buzzed on her shoulder strap with Ace repeating the command, causing Meabh to smile broadly at Victoria, showing off her gap tooth.

Victoria meanwhile simply blinked in surprise and shook her head, before smiling in amusement. "I think I like you too."

My OC Starship

USS Helldriver (NCC-2701)

In 2267, Starfleet commissioned a new ship to be built and launched. The ship was to be called USS Helldriver (NCC-2701).

In 2269, it launched with Neil Thompson assigned as Captain. The Helldriver was designed to be the safest of the Constitution Class with design changes made during construction due to lessons learned from ships like the Constellation and Defiant with a thicker hull and has the ability to detect anomalies like what caused the Defiant’s disappearance. But two weeks after launch and not even half fitted, it was laid up at its builders, the San Francisco Fleet Yards for many months before being sent to the scrap yard because Project Helldriver was scrapped. 

In 2270, Starfleet decided to restart Project Helldriver as an experiment for the Constitution Class refit so NCC-2701 was towed to San Francisco Fleet Yards to undergo a refit with Captain Min Jeong’s First Officer, David Armstrong being recommended by Min Jeong to be the captain and the Copernicus Chief Engineer, Alex Hansen also overseeing the refit and the registration was changed back to NX-2701.

In 2271, After 18 months of being refitted, the USS Helldriver (NCC-2701) launched on its test mission under Captain David Armstrong, who previously served on the USS Korea and USS Copernicus. He was recommended by Captain Jeong to be the captain of the Helldriver. The ship was equipped with an experimental capability; the ability to land on Planets in one whole ship and to separate the saucer. It also experimented with a vertical warp core and extended crew capacity and new warp nacelles and bridge module. It also featured a new photon torpedo bay and new transporter as well as new shuttle crafts.

In 2273, The Helldriver warp core broke down and had to be towed back to Earth. Another 18 month refit was needed.

In 2274, history repeated itself from a year prior with another incident and the Helldriver was the only ship in range so Min Jeong took command of it and after the mission, the ship finally started it full mission.

I guess I should introduce myself, so let’s start there!

My name is Vex, but I’m also fine going by Souls. I’m an Aro/Ace individual who goes by any and all pronouns. I’m 16, so still a minor as of right now. I write in my free time because I find it fun! My favorite color is pink, so expect to see that a lot… it’s kind of a warning.

This blog is mostly where I post things involving my OC’s and such. I have a few, and I’ll list them all here! I should also mention that I sometimes ship my OC’s with canon characters. I don’t do this if the character has an actual confirmed lover in canon, and if I do, then I might not be aware of it or just don’t really like the ship. I do take requests, and if you’d like I can write stories about your characters, but I’ll mostly write things about mine.
