Filip calling out Marco in front of everyone in Babylon's Ashes is such a good moment. It sucks how many people shit on Filip as a character. Yeah, he did some really, really bad things (or, at the very least, was extremely complicit in them), but he was still a CHILD who was manipulated from birth by a man he (almost literally) looked up to as a god. (Seriously - look closely at the language in Filip's early POV chapters when he talks about Marco. It's almost Old Testament.) He was given life-and-death responsibility that he lacked the maturity to really even comprehend at his age and was saddled with moral injury that lasted the rest of his life. Seriously, think about the dumb shit YOU said, did, and believed at fifteen, sixteen.

There's no way he didn't know the consequences of standing up to Marco like that, especially in front of other people. I don't really give a shit about the "were they redeemed/weren't they redeemed/can they be redeemed" conversation around fictional characters because redemption is a subjective moral judgment. All I'm saying is that took real courage. And walking away took real courage. And it takes real courage to find an open door when someone else has already shut so many of your doors for you before you even knew they were there.

Servamp April Fools' event

Tanaka Strike reposted the event from 2023 that was about voting for characters' abilities/techniques. The first time I didn't look into the the event and I was surprised to see that among the abilities that were listed, there were a few that were revealed later in the manga,  for example Kuro's Wiedergänger (Ashes to ashes, dust to dust) that appeared in chapter 133.

In March 2023, chapter 128 was published, so it was 5 chapters later when the name of the ability was introduced in the story.

For the event, some characters have abilities that were marked as “lies” because they didn't appear in the manga however, Kuro’s ability was marked as a lie but that was actually true after all!

So yeah, Tanaka-sensei was playing with us. xD Abilities have two readings and you'll see that some of them either have one reading which is different or they some readings were assigned to other characters.

Mahiru: “Why is truth and falsehoods mixed in? Only the actual abilities should be voted!

Kuro: “Mahiru…In this world, you can’t survive on truth alone...

Mister Violence (Antique clock of night trick)

This is a reference to “Gear of Night Trick” on TanakaBox and that’s why I worded the translation like this. The clock referenced here must be Hlidskjalf. I wrote about it here when I posted chapter 96.

In chapter 125 when Jeje was given his name by Mikuni, his contract item was the winding key from the music box that Kiriko gave to Mikuni and I read that fans discovered that the song it was playing was "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"

Wiedergänger (Ashes to ashes, dust to dust)

Mahiru: Hey! If you're gonna lie, you should make it sound like it's… obviously a joke, or it'll just confuse people.

Turandot (None shall sleep) Like I mentioned in the beginning, this is one ability that was given a different reading. The actual one is "The king is absent today as well." "None shall sleep " (Nessun dorma) is an aria from the final act of Turandot.

Mahiru: You had a technique like that?

Lily: Fufufu...Well… you could say it exists, or you could say it doesn't. Reality is such an uncertain thing. You should also be careful.

MISONO

Bridge falling down (The king is absent today as well)

So yeah, it's Misono and Lily that had their ability names switched and were also given different readings. The different reading is most likely a reference to the nursery rhyme "London Bridge Is Falling Down". And we don't have Misono, we have Mikado who comments about the ability xD

Mikado: Didn't Misono have a powerful technique like that?! Did you make it sound like it existed, Dodo?! Dodo: I included it as an option. Mikado: Nice work! Just for today, even a lie is permitted. I can’t believe Misono had only one technique, and it was from ten years ago (in real time)…As a parent I must do behind-the-scenes... Dodo: Young master is already in high-school...It's about time you... Mikado: This is a parent's duty! Should I add another one?!

SAKUYA

I will die yesterday by your side (Five-minute hypothesis theory)

Sakuya used this ability in chapter 139, however in the manga it says five "seconds" not minutes. The first reading sounds weird...Like, I haven't found a reference for it. "To die" is in the present tense even though it says "yesterday", so yeah, it's weird. I expected that it would be the name of a novel but I haven't found anything, so if some of you might have an idea about it, let me know!

Sakuya: I used this ability in the fight against Mahiru, didn’t I? It was such an emotional technique where I self-destructed to protect him. Tsubaki: Have you actually been reading Servamp??

Mahoroba (Under the moonlit night, rain and carnage)

Mahoroba isn't something that can be translated. It's a term that refers to an idyllic or perfect place, often associated with paradise or a beautiful land. The dictionary defines it as "great and splendid land (of Yamato)"

The other name of the ability is the title of chapter 84, which I initially translated as "On a moonlit night, rain and bloodshed"

Tsubaki: I don't recall mentioning such a technique name, but it seems okay as it is.

Ultimate Super Wars (Super Ultimate Form-Tsubaki-)

Tsubaki had another ability and when I googled アルティメットスーパーウォーズ a novel, I assume, showed up but I couldn't find much about it. Based on the cover of the book, I thought it was adapted based on a videogame but I didn't find a game with that title, so yeah, the name of the ability might not be related to it. Regarding these kanji 津薔鬼, they spell Tsubaki.

Tsubaki: Are there people who actually call me by such uncool name?

I've never liked r!Ciel. I think he's a spoiled brat (and I reflected that heavily in my fic). But these two panels here sealed the deal for me.

NOBODY said that to Sebby! Not even o!Ciel, who is his true master, ever said that to him.

Sure, sure, he could be an annoying bastard sometimes, but he's MY bastard (well, he belongs to o!Ciel, really, but you get my point). Look at how the others reacted to that. The rest of the servants were horrified, and even Tanaka looked... disappointed? He definitely didn't approve of r!Ciel's attitude.

"Your parents taught you better than this." - Tanaka (perhaps).

And the second one...

Sebastian looks really upset here, which was very rare. In fact, as others have pointed out, he showed a whole range of emotions during this encounter (but I'm not going to dwell on that).

My point here is, r!Ciel was wrong! His manor, the place where he grew up in, was no more. It has burned to the ground. He's the master of what house??

This one is actually Sebastian's house. He built this one out of the ashes of the previous manor for his young master. The house belongs to Sebastian and o!Ciel is the master of the house.

To further prove this, look at what Sebastian has said. He talked as if this was his home because it is his home and he's just trying to protect his home.

Nishinoya x (tall) reader

(Name) has a crush on noya and before practice (name) made noya homemade baked goods and has it nicely gift wrapped and starts walking to the gym to hand him the box and say a silly pick up line however the more he walks towards noya the more nervous (name) gets and when he does he just shoved the box to noya while saying “take the thing take it” and runs off but not too long coach ukai is dragging the reader by the back of the shirt cause coach ukai thought (name) was trying to get out of practice and it doesn’t help the others saw the train wreck of a confession and maybe tanaka is like “ooooh someone has a crush on you noya” but gets “accidentally” hit by a volleyball

The Tsukishima twins were in all honesty, complete opposites. While the older twins stoic and sometimes rude, the younger twin was shy and an absolute angel. Although they were opposites they were extremely close.

It was rare when you'd see one without the other. (Name) could usually be seen following his older brother around like a lost puppy. Since he had an absolute poor sense of direction. They were also very protective of each other. Especially since (Name) would get teased a lot over his shyness.

The only thing the twins got along for, was volleyball. While the older twin was a middle blocker, the younger twin was more of an all round player. (Name) could play almost any position. Though he mostly played wing spiker or libero, since his brother was a middle blocker, and their childhood friend was a setter.

(Name) had always played the position that was needed, no questions asked. Though he always thought that he didn't belong in the libero position, due to his tall height. That was before he met the Guardian Deity of Karasuno.

"Wow!" (Name) flinched at the loud yell. Turning he was met with a short male with black hair. His front end bleached. The male had stars in his eyes ashe stared at the youngest Tsukishima.

"Are you a libero too?!" (Name) shyly looked down and shrugged. "I-I play whatever position is needed. B-But I don't do libero much...cause of m-my height." (Name) looked away playing with his fingers.

"What's wrong with your height?" (Name) looked up surprised. The talking surrounding them silenced. "W-Well I'm too t-tall to play libero." The male didn't say anything back only walking closer to him. When (Name) looked at him. He was blown away.

The male had his thumb pointed at his chest. Standing proud. "In the libero position height doesn't matter!" (Name)'s eyes widened. "As long as you save the ball, and keep the game in motion. You can be a libero no matter your height!"

It felt like the air had been knocked out of (Name)'s lungs. It looked like heaven was shinning down on the smaller male. He looked like an Angel to him. (Name) blushed deeply and had fainted. That was his introduction to the official libero of Karasuno.

After that (Name) would shyly ask his senpai for pointers, and would ask him if he'd help him get better. It didn't take long for Kei to figure out his brother had a crush. It was easy for him to spot. But to others? No way. They just thought (Name) was idolizing Nishinoya.

So when (Name) vocalized he might confess to his upperclassmen, his twin told him to go for it. So (Name) did the one thing he loves to do the most. He baked some pastries. Hoping Nishinoya will like them. If not (Name) might legitimately cry, and honestly the older twin didn't want to see that.

So when (Name) was double checking the box, walking to practice. He was going over which pick-up line to use. As he got closer and closer to the gym, he couldn't help but get more and more nervous. It only got worse as he actually entered the gym. Seeing the sun shine down on the male.

Seeing how he was smiling and laughing with Tanaka-senpai made the poor male short circuit. Noya and Tanaka turned and stared at him. (Name) blushed brightly and shoved the box into Noya's arms. "T-Take the thing! Take it!" Then he fled.

On his way out, (Name) ran right by the coach. Who immediately grabbed the male by his shirt collar. Then started lecturing him about skipping practice. But (Name) wasn't even listening. He was too busy trying to hide from everyone.

Cause he knows they all saw his failure of a confession. He thought that the moment couldn't get anymore. He was wrong. Tanaka watchd over his bestfriends shoulder and saw the many home-baked goods. He immediately started laughing.

Making poor (Name) more embarrassed. Who hid behind his fuming twin. "Ohhhh~ somebody's gotta crush on Noya!" Tanaka laughed more. But before he could saying anything else the older Tsukishima "accidently" served a volleyball onto the back of Tanaka's head.

"Oops. Sorry senpai."
