EGX & MCM Comicon

On October 25th I got to visit the Excel Centre in London and attend the biggest comic convention in the country! Thanks to the college I was able to meet some of my favourite creators and experience comic & gaming culture firsthand. I had already visited the year prior, however I got a lot more from this visit.

The coolest part of the trip for me was meeting one of my favourite youtubers, Tomska. This was really surreal as I have been watching his channel and projects he has been a part of for close to ten years. I was introduced to his content via his ASDFmovie series. This series is one of the simplest yet most timeless things to come out of the internet, the dead simple monochromatic style combined with the lightning fast pacing of the skits make it so memorable. I was happy to get a poster signed by him! I also met his collaborator Eddie Bowly, who has his own channel which I am a big fan of. This made my visit and was a super cool experience.

There was no shortage of physical games this time around, plenty of unique board games to buy and to play. I found it very cool that there were tables in which games had been set out prior to the event, ready to sit down and play! There was a huge presence of dungeons and dragons, which I am not that informed on, however I know it is a pop culture phenomenon. Just looking around the centre you could see the presence non electronic and board games still have.

Here are some photographs of random things around the con which I found very cool. A full scale animatronic robot from Dreamworks' newest feature film and a pinball machine. This pinball machine stuck out to me as It was the oldest there, the rest were from the 80s to the present day. I found this to be extremely cool that such an old game was still being played, I wasn't surprised there was a line for it as the cabinet and table artwork was so striking. Every inch of the machine was covered in this bright colourful 60s artwork. I had never played a physical pinball machine before so I found this really cool!

And here are the arcade machines, which I spent an embarrassingly long time on. There were some games that were not here last time like Pac man, Sinistar, pengo and tempest. All of which I had a blast with! I adore all of the marquee artwork and side art of these games.
