In the meantime, our book is officially on Goodreads, which has been on my bucket list forever! I don't have my author page linked yet, but the book is there!

In the last two months, I've been published and started a podcast. The book is a fantasy novel, and the podcast is about homemaking. It feels amazing to start to give back to two things that have given so much to me.

Favorite Moment from Writing this Morning: The strange moment when you have a character freaking out while you, the author, giggle. I feel his freaking out, but it is also hysterically funny.
Favorite Line Crafted: And what by-the-old-gods was an aerial-clout that Executioner Officer Thomas McGowan (Parth’s inner monolog increased in shrillness) had a proficiency rating in? This was all a bad dream, right? Had he mentioned being flummoxed? Now Parth wanted to add discombobulation to that description of the state of his mind. Flummoxed and discombobulated…and shrill.

"Psyche's job, everyone's job, was to do the hard things that needed doing, trusting that somehow it would be well. It would not be, the Song reminded her, an easy hope. It was not a lazy summer morning hope. It was the sharp cut of ice, the depths of snow, the frozen night sky. It did not mean - it had never meant - that anyone escaped suffering. It had never meant that Psyche could not lose everything she cherished. But it was hope nonetheless. A hope that promised all evil, no matter how twisted, could and would be straightened back to good."
-Stoneheart
Our book is live! This is a dream come true! Here is a book I wrote with my name on it! Thank you, @alana-k-asby making this story more beautiful and joining me on this journey!

This is a truth that I not only hold to in real life, but that also infuses my fictional writing as well. We are the makers of much ordinary magic, ladies! Let's let that inspire us.

Favorite Moment from Writing this Morning: Finally reaching the point I've been aiming for all week: the Inn-in-the-Woods and the Gray Girls.
Favorite Line Crafted: On the edge of the crossroad, overseeing the bustle of traffic stood a well-lit, multi-storied inn with bright yellow legs painted like hen’s feet holding it above the ebb and flow of vehicles.
@alana-k-asby Slow but steady, right? Slow but steady.

Excerpt: Stories have a way of connecting us, of bringing ideas to fruition, of giving us hope or shining a light on parts of the soul we either don’t see or don’t want to.
Have you ever had a book touch you this way? What about novels that inspire your homemaking?

Favorite Moment From Writing this Morning: Selecting ever increasingly silly items to be magical "wands" or what we're calling periapts for all our side characters.
Favorite Line Crafted: Had the world gone Alice-in-Wonderland-mad? Was he in a padded white cell right now in a straitjacket? For the love of all that was holy, would someone please give me some drugs to make this all go away! Everything inside him was hyperventilating, but he slouched silent, frozen by his inability to even begin to understand what was happening.
@alana-k-asby I have pulled up so many lists of tools for so many different artisan jobs. Ha!

Favorite Moment from Writing This Morning: the growing sense of getting a grip on how the magic works in our new world. I love the feeling of things slipping into place.
Favorite Line Crafted: Perspiration dotted his forehead like the condensation on the glass. Why was he so nervous? He pulled his hand from his pocket, resting it on the bar, and Jael saw the faint worn outline of a large skeleton key. Possibly he was a locksmith or an antiquities dealer?
@alana-k-asby Jael is slowly coming out of the fog into clarity and I'm really loving her.

Guys! I'm an official author on Goodreads! I'm so excited! Okay, I'm stupidly excited to go from being a reader with all the thoughts to an author with a published book. This is a dream come true on so many levels, a dream I set aside four years ago, but that came true anyway.
@alana-k-asby Thank you for all that you've done, for every hurdle I put in your path that you overcame, for believing in me and us, and for encouraging me to constantly improve. May we tell many more stories together.

It's really something when a reader tells you that your story started out fast paced and never let up and that they loved it for that. "It was never boring."
It's really something when a reader tells you that your story was too violent, but they pushed through, and they're really glad they did or they would have missed the redemption.
But, it's even more amazing when a reader tells you that it felt like this book was written for them to help them endure.

Favorite Moment from Writing this Morning: I stumbled on a speech quirk for a character this morning and had so much fun with her dialog. If you have subtitles on in documentaries you become aware of people's different filler words, then you can use that later in your writing.
Favorite Line Crafted: “It’s a wizard prison,” the once-upon-a-time runemistress said.
(I liked this line because I got to use once-upon-a-time.)
