Asbel is a confident, personable individual. He loves speaking with others and making friends, and especially loves to talk about himself and his accomplishments. He's very charming and witty, and adores flattering others with compliments, jokes, and quips. Asbel is generally pretty easygoing, and makes others around him feel confident and at ease. Asbel also is very flirtatious, and he loves flustered reactions.

However, despite his easygoing appearance, he has a fairly large ego. Wounding his pride is never a good idea; only he's allowed to make fun of himself, no one else is. Asbel can be rather fickle, too, and quickly moves from interest to interest, which also includes people. He can also be petulant when he's upset, making it difficult to compromise with him or have a healthy argument. Asbel also hides insecurity beneath his outward confidence; while he is not unsure of himself, he fears that his friends may be using him for personal gain. As a musician on the cusp of becoming a big hit, he's wary of people trying to befriend him in order to use his success. Therefore, it's hard to truly get close to Asbel, but when someone does, they will find that he is a loyal friend.

Asbel is a xaetherian, and, like all xaetherians, can use light magic. He is, however, much more proficient in ice magic. Asbel is also decent at casting charms. He is a very skilled musician, and he often uses music to enhance his magic. And to top it all off, Asbel is very physically strong.

Of all of Leif’s friendships, Leif and Asbel is my favorite and the one I imagine is the closest. Asbel’s devotion to Leif from trying to find him again for years after they were separated to staying by his side through the entire war and everything about their reunion conversation; Leif admitting he left without Asbel as a last attempt to keep him safe when he didn’t expect to survive himself and Asbel’s anger because of how seriously he takes their oath to live and die together made their friendship stick with me despite the little screen time it had. Then Asbel’s Forging Bonds conversation in FEH went ahead and had Leif, who doesn’t believe he’s a legendary hero as a Legendary Hero, say he believes Asbel will be one. Their admiration and care for each other is really sweet and it feels like they’d go to the ends of the earth for each other. Their matching titles in their endings, Asbel the Sage and King Leif, the Sage Lord, is also peak friendship goals.
