I really want to tell you about something.

It's kind of related to TADC.

So I joined a discord server where i could chill out, talk about the show, that stuff, etc.

And I was like "I should share some things about the story I'm making!"

It's basically one where the reader and the canon character (the setting was Demon Slayer: it's an anime where demons exist and there are people who serve to destroy these demons. The specific canon character I picked for the story was a Swordsmith, who is also kind of important in the storyline.) that has an 8 year age gap. Back in the old days of Japan, you could marry someone if you were 13 or older. The reader was 29 while the canon character was 37, it's not really a good age gap, but it's acceptable, right? A few people in the world has that kind of age gap.

I was inspired by the song Older by Isabel Larosa in making the story.

I went on to tell the other members, but they were all acting weird about it. They kept saying "wtf" and "uhhh" and I had a feeling they were uncomfortable, so I apologized, and they warned me for it.

They also went on to kick me out of that server.

And then I went on to realize they thought the reader was 13 and that the canon character was OLDER. They thought I was being a weirdo and actually supported a child being married to some adult.

Their reason for kicking me was: "for discussing writing a story about having an 8 year age gap. even if the practice of marrying an older person as a child to continue a bloodline is apart of a country’s history, modern ethics are different."

And I was so confused!

I know this isn't really related to any of your works, and I apologize for that, but I needed your opinion.

Were they right for kicking me? Was it all just some big misunderstanding? Do you think what they thought was wrong and should've asked me for confirmation instead of thinking what they thought of? Or was it something to let go, don't let it come back and never let it return to you, because it's not worth my time?

Either way, I'm glad I'm not there to cause any more trouble. I feel deeply ashamed for mentioning it in the first place.

Hi! I hope this isn't a strange thing to ask but could you tell me more about ii-critical? I'm writing a research paper on the ii community and I wanna gain more insight to what that part of the fandom was all about.

My main questions are: Why did it exist? Why were you apart of it? What were the posts like? What was the biggest drama? Hell, what platform was it even on??

I wasn't that deep in the OSC when it was up and running (only really got into the community in ~2018) so a lot of community context from that era is lost on me. If you have any other object show oldhead insight for ii you wanna share, please do! I find fandom fascinating and would love to here more stories.

hoooo boy...... cracks knuckles. i went over it a little bit in a previous post but i'll try and give more info this time

(also this should go without saying but please don't try and seek out anyone mentioned or involved its been like 6-7 years since all this happened. also most of us were mentally unstable teenagers hence the. everything)

ii-critical originated as a tumblr blog created by someone named mira (i have no idea if they still go by mira or what their pronouns are now. i'm just gonna stick to they/them for convenience) as a way for them to discuss their criticisms towards the show's writing. the blog was created in mid-to-late 2017, during a time period where "(media) critical" was becoming a common tag. the trend was started by "su critical", a tag created by steven universe fans to discuss the show's faults in response to the show being in a rut of making some VERY dubious decisions (i believe it was started around bismuth's introduction, which was heavily criticized at the time for MANY reasons). the "critical" tags were often created for fandoms who tended to be hostile towards criticism of the media they were based around. the inanimate insanity fandom didn't really have that issue, thankfully. and so, the blog "ii-critical" was born.

at the beginning, the posts were about mira going through an episode beat by beat, and pointing out things they both liked and disliked about it. occasionally, there were posts analyzing a specific character. i'm kind of speeding through the "what were the posts like" section because that is by far the LEAST interesting part of the ii-critical mythos

i found the blog very shortly after its creation. it caught me at a good time, because i was at a point where i was becoming disillusioned with the show (episode 11 was the most recent episode at this point, and i really disliked it due to it being at the peak of ii's melodrama era. the show just felt miserable to watch. s2e11 sucking butt is still an opinion i stand by today Lolzor). mira and i started talking and i was brought on as the blog's other moderator, and i wrote my own analysis posts.

the blog was decently successful and didn't actually get that much hate. most people agreed with our criticisms and were, like, normal about the concept of a thing they liked being flawed. at some point we had a decent amount of followers and made the ill-fated decision to create a discord server for the blog. for added context: at the time of the server's creation, mira was 13, and i was 14. we were NOT old enough to be running a public discord server that at least 50+ people ended up joining.

the server had a lot of problems, mainly in regards to the channels. since we were both at the age where you are hormonal and stupid, we decided to make the nsfw channel accessible to everyone, and didn't even ask for people to include their ages in their intros. a concerning amount of people assumed that mira and i were both adults, or at least older teens until we said otherwise. we also had a blacklist and vent channel, which, word of advice, you should NOT have in a public server. shit gets out of hand SO fast. i vividly remember there being at least one guy who posted in the vent channel on a near-daily basis about pretty serious stuff. trust me when i say that people shared some HORRIFIC information in there. also, we had an emoji that was just a drawing of donut from bfdi with his whole cock and balls hanging out because we thought it was funny. i'm pretty sure there wasn't a "please don't post the donut balls emoji in non-nsfw channels" rule anywhere either.

i could go into more detail about various happenings, but that delves too deeply into interpersonal drama that frankly has no business being shared publicly. one of the most concerning things that happened, however, was this one guy who would come in vc, barely say anything, and fuck around with his gun the whole time. and yes, you could hear it. eventually we got reports of him being predatory towards a younger member of the server, and he was banned. i think that was the first thing that made mira and i go, "oh, we might've fucked up". there was also another incident where somebody was leaking information from inside the server (yet another reason why the vent channel was a HORRIBLE idea), and we banned a bunch of inactive people until eventually realizing somebody had stolen the username and pfp of a real user and impersonated them to stay in the server. this whole ordeal lasted like, two weeks. and again!! we were just BARELY no longer preteens at this point!! and we still thought, yeah, we can handle this. we're super capable. at one point we hired two other moderators (one of whom was 14-15, and the other was an actual adult for once. having an adult moderator led to us FINALLY locking the nsfw channel off to minors, since we had somebody who could moderate it for us), but this was towards the end so most of the damage had already been done

i was removed as a moderator on the blog after a large amount of interpersonal nonsense that, again, i'm not going to get into. it was mainly just because i was spending too much time in the server instead of posting on the blog like i was supposed to. a couple weeks later, i was suddenly banned from the server and mira had blocked me on everything. again, interpersonal nonsense and both of us being mentally unstable, not anyone's business. we reconciled a few months after and both apologized for being dumbasses, so we at least ended things on better terms.

another notable thing is that sometimes, crew members would pop in and out of the server, and they were surprisingly chill about the blog's existence. it was mainly justin and sam from what i remember, and resulted in this legendary image:

i don't remember this bit, but at some point taylor may have responded to one of our posts and was Not Nice about it? again, i don't remember this, take it with a grain of salt. but knowing his history with getting into shit with fans for no reason and how it got to the point where it was cited as a reason he was removed from the team, yeah that tracks

talking about ii-critical is strange, because i don't know where to draw the line between "infamous blog from the early days of the tumblr osc", "stupid pointless infighting between teenagers", and "genuinely horrible decisions and moderation that caused real damage". i'm trying to stick to just the first one and giving info about the last one when necessary. i'm aware a lot of this is gonna paint my past self in a VERY unflattering light, but that's who i was and what i did when i was 14 and i just have to accept that.

ii-critical was just a facet of the tumblr osc circa 2017. a lot of what happened can be traced back to larger issues with the fandom, especially when it came to restrictions on nsfw content. remember, this is pre-tumblr porn ban. i knew an ALARMING amount of people who had nsfw blogs, and even posted nsfw art while they were minors. i don't wanna seem like i'm making excuses for fucking up when it came to moderation and keeping our members safe, but it's important to know that the blog and server were very much a product of a specific point in tumblr history. we saw minors casually posting nsfw on a regular basis and thought, "yeah, it should be fine to have the nsfw channel open to everyone, right?" and like i said, we didn't originally require ages upon introduction. people didn't realize how badly we'd fucked up until the damage had already been done.

i could go on about the dozens of other ways i fucked up, but that would start to dive into the interpersonal side of things. i think i covered everything that actually mattered. i don't plan on talking about ii-critical to this extent again any time soon. everyone who both ran and was part of the blog and server have moved on, i don't wanna keep dragging people back to what's probably a very unpleasant period of their lives.

that said, if prompted, i will talk about the 2012-2014 deviantart era + "dark ages" of the osc AT LENGTH if prompted. i swear i have wisdom beyond the shitty blog i ran with my friends as a teenager. you dont even know about the Ball OC Discourse

An actual server for a media property we were interested in before seeing how deeply sysmedicalist the creators were said that it's "against discord TOS for littles under 13 (or 12, can't remember) to be active on discord".

That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. All discord cares about it body age. You can be a system made entirely of 0-11 year old littles and still be able to post on discord, because all that matters is the year your body was born.

Truly hate how people are about littles. "I am not comfortable talking about this subject with a little or engaging sexually with them" is a boundary. "Littles are not allowed to talk about this subject or be sexual" is controlling, toxic, and depending on your relationship with the system in question, can cross the line into abuse. (I'd say usually it doesn't on discord, but it's worth noting.)

It's what I call "building your fences in other people's yards". You have a right to state you're uncomfortable interacting with people in certain ways, including mutually discussing certain subjects. But as soon as you infringe on another person's right to exist as they are or to discuss things not directed at you in a public space, you're not putting a boundary on your own property line any more.

REAL. a lot of online plural spaces have a really NIMBY-ass attitude about how other systems function and like. what their members want and how they navigate the world. like buddy you are not functionally different from the HOA karen telling me i can't paint my trashcans purple. you're just doing it on discord dot edu instead of in my neighborhood.

Hello! I’m not trying to start a fight, I’m just trying to help both sides understand each other and come to a conclusion. My deepest apologies if this gets long.

From my understanding, you are upset about the server supporting contact complex paraphiles? I hope that’s correct. I don’t quite understand why you are harassing her when you are anti harassment, could you explain that to me? Am I misunderstanding your stances?

Wouldn’t it be better to take real legal action if you believe someone is being harmed, rather than starting a digital harassment campaign? As far as I’m aware, all the people involved with this aren’t committing any actual crimes, just making you feel uncomfortable with their life styles. Am I understanding that right? If I am not, what crimes are being committed? Why haven’t you reported them to the authorities?

It is to my understanding that you were unaware that the server and its owner are openly pro-radqueer, despite the topic having been discussed multiple times at length. Perhaps that means there is simply a fundamental difference in opinions and values between yourself and those who are relevant? Would blocking and moving on not be a better course of action for all who are involved, even if only to remove undue stress? This seems to be causing you extensive anxiety. If it is, it’s not healthy to continue to put yourself in harms way for the sake of calling her out. Your mental health comes first, and you have already warned people to the best of your ability. What can everyone do to resolve the situation, or at least give you closure?

One I tried to take legal action but nothing is being done because I'm overseas since I'm not American, Two I'm not harassing anybody I'm just calling out the people who support bestiality on the server, Third maybe if they stopped downplaying the situation I'll probably stop but they pissed me off enough to the point I don't see the point in stopping because of their bullshit response. Also, more information is coming out which makes the situation a lot worse. According to two people the zoophile in question is in an incestuous relationship with their brother. Also yes there's harm being done to not only some other server members cause some of them are 13 or severely mentally vulnerable and that environment is going to be what ends them. It doesn't help that I found out that a 19-year-old is dating a 15-year-old on the server. That server is not safe at all.

I think the only way I can let this go is if they turn themselves in and get actual professional help but since they love self-diagnosing I highly doubt they'll even try that.

I am also YOUR number one fan!!! I don’t plan to stay in Terras, just hanging around until I get my art for my trade and then I’m running for the hills basically. The NSFW jokes and the general atmosphere are too much. I’m an adult in a server full of children, and atp given the nonchalance of other members I don’t plan on being in a space that encourages that kind of behavior towards children. I’ll probably make a ticket about it and that’s that, honestly.

glad youre taking the initiative to gtfo, it just sucks how that shows more evidence that the terra server is not an environment conducive to critique or serious discussion whatsoever.

the nsfw/suggestive “jokes” have apparently been a continued issue just going based off the stuff i get in my inbox, and mods dont seem to give a fuck since theyre all around 18-20 themselves and dont have the foresight to see how there is true danger in things they think is no big deal.

and actually i wanna elaborate on my issues with mods being so young; when youre a very young “adult” yourself (adult in quotes because imo 18 is only adult in legal terms and most 18-year-olds do NOT have the level of maturity that comes with the title of adult, something amazingly exemplified in the terra server) you kind of blur the lines on minor and adult. what i mean by this is: when youre 18, you tend to think of minors as 16-17 or older teens since thats the stage you were just in, you dont really think about the 13, 14, 15 year olds being as super-young as they are because you were just in high school with some of them. because of this theyll brush more things off as “not a big deal” because, hey, i would make jokes like that with my friends in high school, its not that bad. they dont really realize the different dynamics there are when its online, and just how bad it ACTUALLY is. again, it goes back to that immaturity thing. This was probably due to changes on Instagram itself, which removed the ability to view new posts. I will probably not post any future events on Instagram.

With a small sample size, these results are very likely unrepresentative of the whole fandom, meaning that while the majority of the participants in this survey fall in the age group between 18 and 21 years old, they might not be the actual majority of the active online fanbase.

Moreover, as one participant pointed out, having fixed groups instead of separate ages might skew these results even further.

1.4 When the Participants Joined the Fandom

I can immediate say that I must've worded the options badly, because I got a large number of manual input answers, some of which correspond to my suggested options. For this reason, I made my own pie chart which accounts for that.

Discussion

It appears that seasons 1 and 3 were the main times when people joined the fandom. It makes sense for S1 and 2, since they were released very close to each other (September 2018 and February 2019 respectively) but S4 came after a three year hiatus. I really expected more people to join the fandom after it aired, especially since the poll was held 7 months after its release.

Unsurprisingly, most people taking a survey about shipping do actually care about shipping. However, I'm also glad to see that people to whom shipping isn't as important also took their time to take the survey. Overall, of a scale from 1 to 5, the participants would rate the important of shipping as part of their fandom experience as 3.3.

Autoethnography

As a huge fan of the popular television series "The Sopranos" I try to interact with the fandom as much as I can. One of the ways that I participate in Sopranos fan culture is by buying various merchandise such as apparel from Etsy, funko pops, prop replicas, and signed posters. A majority of the merchandise that I purchase comes from sites where the products are mostly focused on being created by fans of particular media. The Sopranos is a show where it has lots of hidden symbolism, themes, foreshadowing, and ideas that I could not personally catch on the first viewing of the series. With that being said, I proceeded to watch The Sopranos 13 more times (Yes I kept track) to try and find something different each times in which I ultimately did. The show deals a lot with dark themes integrated with foreshadowing which I fully understood after I knew what going to happen based on watching the series prior. Currently, I am involved with a few Sopranos fan groups online such as being an active member in TheChaseLounge (A sopranos Forums page), a member of the r/TheSopranosmemes subreddit, a discord server with fans who like to analyze The Sopranos, and a follower of many Sopranos memes Instagram pages. In my spare time I do enjoy creating memes for The Sopranos ' Instagram and Reddit pages. I also actively participate in making Sopranos fan edit videos for TikTok. I have also been following various cast members on Instagram including Michael Imperioli, Steve Schrippa, Robert Iler, and Jamie Lynn Sigler. I currently engage with numerous Sopranos fan works such as Pod Yourself a Gun, the memes of r/Thesopranosmemes, multiple theories on The Chase Lounge, and Poda Bing.

Since The Sopranos tries to portray the culture of Italian Americans in northern New Jersey to the best of the showrunner's ability and part of that includes to try include the kind of language and slang that they use. Whenever I hear commonly used words in the Italian American culture I immediately think back to The Sopranos because the slang and the language are such an integral part of the identity of the characters in the show. Although (to my knowledge) some of the words are not the same as they are in native Italian, they are still iconic and heavily adapted to the Italian American culture. I have personally heard words such as “Marone”, “Piacere”, and “Bafangool” used in sentences in my lifetime although I’m not sure if they were referring to the show or not, still, it is an example of how the language “bleeds” into the real world. Anonymity impacts the way that fans of The Sopranos because they are most likely all different kinds of ages. While many may not really care about instances such as 17-year-olds bonding over a fandom with a 57-year-old, others would find it a little weird due to how untraditional it is. As far as knowing people's actual names when communicating goes, I don’t feel that it has much relevance to the interactions and discussions that fans have. The reason that anonymity is not a huge relevant factor in Sopranos is because anyone can enjoy the content of the show and bond over their understanding of what the show entails. The only reason that anonymity could affect the fandom would be if a fan's cultural viewpoints do not intertwine with that of the show’s content, this could create arguments among fans. With that being said, I feel the anonymity might be better for the fandom because it eliminates some of the possible controversies that could arise in engagement. Regarding the “us vs. them” construct, I feel that within the Sopranos fandom and my own personal experience members of the fandom do not really feel alienated because of their fandom. I feel that fandom nowadays and mainstream society blend together due to the media and the hype that it has the ability to generate amongst a particular fandom. I also think that  peoples involvement in social media has allowed fans to become more vocal about their fandom and having it encouraged.

the mods also claimed to support LGBTIAQ+ people and would ban for homophobia... only to turn around and scold ME and threaten to ban me when i told kids that the "edd is colasexual/tom is objectsexual/tord is animesexual/matt is mattsexual and they're all cis" jokes were homophobic/transphobic.

also after the tbatf drama (the "you should go j//mp off a r//f for your birthday"-jax to some kid, gr//ping kids at cons from all the tbatf chicks, and the merch deal that fell through when they insulted matt) they let people talk some light shit abt tbatf... until they quietly let jax back into the server (or was it brittany? it's been a while i don't completely recall anymore) and then you had to stop or have the mods threaten to ban you for "off topic discussion".

Okay, I think some people think that when we say “the dndads patreon discord is not a safe space for minors” you think we’re saying “minors might see people discussing the R-rated stuff that happens in the show” and since the show’s already tagged Explicit, what’s the big deal? We’re saying that stuff like what’s below the cut happens: where adult patrons are sexualizing minor characters in front of minor patrons who are begging them to stop, and the mods and cast members participating in the discussion say nothing.  If you don’t have the stomach and/or need the CWs, the short recap is: - adults make sexual comments about Yeet - a minor reminds them that Yeet is 13 - they continue to do it - the minor reminds them several more times - some users make sexual comments about Yeet and Grant together - the minor reminds them that Yeet and Grant are both thirteen - a mod makes a comment about Darryl teaching Grant BDSM - some incidental comments about Darryl and Carol’s sex life are also thrown in there along the way - Freddie comes in at the end to say that he liked his escape room joke.  I’ve covered the usernames but have marked the differences between users that are adults as far as I know, users that are minors as far as I know, and mods. In all there were four mods active in these screenshots.  You can say “we don’t allow NSFW stuff” and “come to us if somebody makes you uncomfortable” but I feel like it couldn’t have been much more clear that the minor user was incredibly uncomfortable. It was never okay in the first place for people to be talking about Grant and Yeet that way; it should not have been on a fifteen-year-old to ask dozens of adults to please stop talking about underage sex.  Four different mods and Freddie were posting at the same time and not asking anyone to stop making sexual comments about Yeet and/or Grant. That sends a pretty clear signal to everyone reading. I can’t imagine, for instance, that the minor in that discussion would feel like Freddie or those mods would be much help if someone was making them uncomfortable on a different occasion.  [This is, by the way, why “no NSFW stuff” is a bullshit rule for a server like this. It’s obviously not followed even by the mods, and there is a world of difference between making comments about Darryl and Carol’s sex life vs. making comments like that about Yeet and Grant, but they all get lumped together under NSFW?] I don’t really know what to say about this. I wasn’t even looking for this, I was looking something else up, but it’s so textbook as an example of what’s wrong with that server. I hope this one example can provide some context about why those of us who are troubled about the Patreon discord are troubled. It’s far from an isolated incident. That’s the atmosphere that had people messaging Anthony to say please don’t release your kink test episode without taking meaningful steps to keep the minors safe. This kind of thing is why there were concerns. 

This is a live episode reaction, so they are listening together to the end of the episode where Darryl talks to Yeet. Some of the conversation is a little hard to follow as a result, since they’re reacting to something not shown in the chat, but I think you can follow the relevant parts.  This was in June, so in context the “beat Yeet” phrase was first brought up as a football cheer.

Sophie’s post was about a server I helped run, one I tried my best to breathe life into, and spread so much vicious misinformation that it ripped my life apart.

Forgive me if I take this kind of personally.

Quotation marks in a post, particularly around a single word, are not used in an academic context. In academic contexts, quotation marks are citing the original text directly. In colloquial usage, quotation marks are often used as emphasis. They’re also used for sarcasm, for paraphrasing, for— honestly, please just look up what scare quotes are.

To put so much focus on the usage of quotation marks in this post is to obfuscate what actually happened. So let’s ignore the quotes for now and look at the claim and evidence.

Dia made a post where it posited that Sophie had made posts where she hoped anti-endos would split introjects of her in order to suffer. You are correct that this claim was unsubstantiated. You retorted that if someone says this and does not provide a quote, they’re lying. This is usage of overgeneralization, where you also make an unsubstantiated claim that boils a nuanced topic down to an absolute. You are also in the wrong. I believe a better way to make your point would be to have said something closer to, “Please do your own research, since this claim is unsubstantiated, meaning it could be false.”

But helpfully, someone provided one example of Sophie discussing introjects of her in anti-endos, in an effort to substantiate Dia’s claim. I agree with you that this should have been in the original post — if Dia’s original post was of an academic quality and more effort than over-a-year-old-dreams deserved. However, since it is the case that this was over a year old drama, I don’t blame Dia for not going digging for it (nor you for not believing the original claim without that evidence!)

You then ignore the existence of scare quotes and insinuate that the post linked needed to physically say the word suffer in order to prove Dia’s claim. This shows a severe lack of reading comprehension, so I thought I might explain the linked post to you to ensure you were aware that Dia’s claim is correct.

Sophie posits that multiple users (it was one) usage of a tupper (which didn’t happen, it was PK) repeatedly (it happened over the course of I believe one day, maybe 13 instances iirc). She also does not give sources for this claim, so I suppose you would’ve called her out in August 2023 if you’d been active then too. She then goes on to imply the space hates her (inaccurate but I would say a fair number were traumatized by her, and a fair number within the syscourse channel did hate her — not all, though, not even me.)

This gives her “mean-spirited thoughts.” This shows her thinking ill-will on others, by her own admission, which could be defined as wishing suffering on others. She continues on to describe how, by posting this post (again, positing that anti-endos who RP her would actually be splitting her) would cause doubts in those who were in the server, leading anti-endos to “give voice to the things they aren’t saying out loud.” Given context clues, I can infer (based on Sophie’s views of anti endos and the misinformation she spread about the server) that she intends for this line to be about ostracizing individuals who may or may not split a Sophie alter. She implies the entire friend group would “turn against them.”

Based on this reading, I would paraphrase this post as “Sophie had wishes she admitted in this post that anti-endos would split introjects of her, leading them to suffer.”

Let’s continue analyzing the thread. PSW posts Reliable Deniable, to point out that even though the post in question does not physically say the word Suffer, suffering is implied by what Sophie describes. You promptly ignore that fact, insinuating that you are in the right since you are calling into question Dia’s usage of quotation marks.

This is still ignoring the reason for the post. It’s distracting from the fact that Sophie caused irrevocable harm on many by spreading this misinformation, and moreover, it obfuscates the original claim being true.

Sophie wished anti-endos harm via splitting introjects of her.

She might not have said the word directly, but please work on figuring out what is implied.

My experience with WeLoveFine/ForFansByFans as an artist.

This in regards to the Act 6/7 Tarot Project, which occurred from 2017 to 2018. I also want to thank @aryll for the chance to participate in such a project, and thank you for doing what you could with the group and what occurred. I realize this is a few years late, however, but it’s been bothering me ever since it occurred, and I only chose to speak my mind about it. But to summarize, the project started out as unofficial, however we were approached by FFBF in February of 2018. They were willing to sell the deck as official merchandise on their store. I have my own opinions on the company, as it’s known they underpay artists severely for their work despite selling most items for extremely high prices. A similar payment issue occurred with the Official Homestuck Zine, and one of the artists of the Tarot Project posted this in the comments:     “Can relate OP. I did work for the new tarot deck (using my throwaway account for that reason lol) but we aren’t being paid at all. No money. The only compensation we are getting is a free deck and an exclusive enamel pin which is pennies compared to what they’ll be making off us. One might argue that the project wasn’t supposed to be printed so I should be grateful it’s even happening but I expected a big company like WLF to y’know, pay artists... The only reason I agreed to letting them use my art was to get a free deck. I also honestly dislike WLF’s artist compensation policy. My art has been selected from the Fan Forge before and the idea of being able to sell my HS art was so appealing, but the execution is so poor. They don’t pay us until we sell $100 worth of shirts, but that is so difficult in a market that is so oversaturated. I wish they like, cycled designs in and out. Instead, they just keep adding more and more designs, drowning out old ones and just flooding the entire market. Plus, they get to withhold money from artists until every hundred-dollar mark. I can’t imagine how much they’ve made off of small time artists that get their design accepted and sell maybe 3 shirts since it happens so often.” So. What exactly happened? I’ll explain under the cut given there’s a decent amount to go through. Though to summarize; WeLoveFine/ForFansByFans is an extremely egregious company that does not value their artists whatsoever and will do what they can to pay them as little as possible. Please support said artists on sites that actually do give them fair pay, or support them via commissions.

There were a few bumps during the tarot project, though overall it went extremely smoothly and we released our art to the Tumblr blog. FFBF approached us during this time, and we were all given the option to agree to continue working or the project or decline. However, this is what was an important piece to the initial email sent out by the Tarot Project team;      • Each participating artist will get a full finalized copy of the deck, COMPLETELY free. This includes packaging and free shipping of the deck.      • Each participating artist will get an enamel pin commemorating the project, EXCLUSIVE to the artists of this project only, with a custom design as chosen/designed by us. What will most likely occur is that everyone who wishes to submit a design for the pin can do so, and as a group, we will vote on which one we would like to submit as our final design choice!     • Each participating artist will receive FULL COMMISSION on any further usage of their artwork by What Pumpkin or For Fans By Fans. For example, if they release a mini-print, wallet, etc. with your design on it, you will be paid in commission for the usage of your work. (If you have ANY questions about how this would work, please don’t hesitate to ask and I will hook you up ASAP with a For fans By Fans representative who can go over the details with you further.)     • Each participating artist will have a window in which they will be able to make updates or revisions to their illustration(s) before the project is released. This means that if something is bugging you about your work, or you feel that it does not reflect your current level of skill, you will be allowed to resubmit a new version before the project officially goes up as merchandise! So, the majority of us agreed to continue forward with the project and retouch our cards. From there, things continued, and we were emailed by a FFBF representative on occasion to discuss how the process went, as well as various other things that required discussion, plus asked to assist in the promotion of the 4/13/18 celebration on their website. This is where the issues began and would continue through the entire project, with it still being seen post-release of the cards. We were sent an email in April of 2018 requiring information to be provided in the  accompanying booklet of the deck, as well as being asked to answer various interview questions that would be posted to FFBF’s Tumblr, and most importantly; the Commission Agreement form. So what did it entail? This was the form I was sent. My interview was never posted. I have looked multiple times and never seen evidence it ever was, either. And this was also included in the email;    • We are going to be hosting a pre-order bonus promotion surrounding the new tarot set, starting 413. Anyone who pre-orders the set will be entered into a drawing to win a commissioned art piece from a random artist who worked on the tarot. You will be paid by us, FFBF, for this commission work in the amount of $50.  So we had to draw more art with a very close deadline date to obtain a payment  for art we had already created, both of which should have easily been worth more than $50 total. I signed without thinking, which looking back on, was incredibly idiotic, despite my own worries over the fact that even at the time, $50 did not seem like a lot. Progress continued. An exclusive pin was designed and created for the artists, though the production and delivery dates would be delayed to September of 2018. During this time, we were also invited to join FFBF’s Discord server as well, which I am still in, though am not active in. And eventually, we were provided a Commission Schedule. I do not know if I’m missing an email between the enamel pin shipment and this schedule post, however I cannot find any trace of it. This is the Commission Schedule email, and what it consists of. Of course I found it strange, because looking at the schedule, I could never find any sign of myself having been added. Obviously I should have replied then and there due to that, but I didn’t, and that is my own fault. But that rolled into October of 2018, when I did finally email back and asked about why I hadn’t been added. I was sent back this; “Hi Calicorn! I’m sorry I misinterpreted your response as not wanting to proceed:“3)  I am completely willing to sign up for being one of the artists for the commission raffle event, though I must say $50 would be underpaying considering most artists’ base prices for commissions tend to be $50 or more.” Then I sent “If you do not want to be part of the give-away, that’s totally ok. We are offering $50 for these commissions but if that price is not within your comfort, there’s no pressure!” You never came back with anything so I didn’t want to proceed since it seemed like you were uncomfortable with the amount we were offering – I’m really sorry if I misunderstood! The giveaway is actually over I’m sorry to say but I appreciate you following up about this. I wonder why the message went into spam.. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you Thanks!” And one of the most glaring issues popped up in October as well. When we finally received our decks in the mail, our project’s Discord group began to discuss the fact that our emails had been printed in the pamphlet without our permission. Mind you, this was also a project that included minors in it, and our emails had now been given away without our knowledge. Another issue with the pamphlets is the fact that FFBF had reused the same text from the Homestuck Kickstarter Tarot Deck, as seen on the New Booklet/Old Booklet, and here/here. FFBF then decided to remove the booklet from every outgoing tarot that gets ordered, with customers receiving a corrected digital PDF that was coordinated in its creation by Aryll. And apparently previous customers would receive this PDF via emails, as well as a link to download it on the product page. Thankfully FFBF seemed to have at least posted the PDF on the product page, however this seems extremely lazy compared to simply including the newly reprinted booklet. Though this may not be the last of issues, as I stumbled across the Amazon product page for our tarot deck earlier before typing this all up. To say the least, it is extremely infuriating, especially given the quality of the cards and how many people of complained about them on both Amazon and FFBF’s websites. Of course we, the artists, were never alerted to this development, nor were we paid for such.

But overall, we were hardly paid for our time and effort during this project, which is a massive disappointment, but perhaps that much should have been expected from WeloveFine/ForFansByFans, who are notorious for underpaying artists and overpricing products. Their actions are inexcusable, and I am still both disappointed and furious with this company as a whole. Watch out for MoonRose45.

This is a important issue that has to be discussed. MoonRose45 is a 16 year old girl and groomed a 13 year old girl, has lied and manipulated me and all of her followers and friends, and pushed the 13 year old to do a underage r*pe roleplay with her

Obviously I have evidence to back up these claims (at least most of them, but definitely all on the victims end), but tumblr refuses to put the right photos so I can’t add them just yet.

Let’s break this up into sections so it can be organized

Section one: Grooming Priestess Neki and introducing her to sexual things

MoonRose45 has been called out for grooming a young girl who goes by Neki. Moon coerced her into a r*pe roleplay for Twisted Wonderland, where Moon used a self insert to r*pe a character named Epel, who is 15. Among that she introduced Neki to different sexual things, and even lied about a few.

Moon told her what a make out session was, and explained what a concubine and bondage kink were, and even openly admitted that Neki shouldn’t know what they were. On top of that she introduced her to different forms of sex, explaining different reasons two people would want to sleep together.

As I’ve said previously I have proof, but Tumblr refuses to post the right pictures for some reason since theres multiple. If I can include the screenshots I will edit this at a later date to add them in.

Section two: Obsessiveness, manipulation.

Moon has spam messaged Neki multiple times, each time claiming she was “worried” about her. It got to the point that it was starting to make Neki uncomfortable, and when she used a more forceful approach of straight up telling Moon to stop, Moon brought out the poetry talk. The kind of talk where they’re being super dramatic and you have no choice but to forgive them because they’re being sooooo sincere. You know, a manipulation method.

After they cut off their friendship Moon went around spreading rumors about Neki, even to me, claiming that Neki hated her over a misunderstanding and that Neki sent a long and hateful message to her over a word being misspelled. But then, Moon went back to her as if nothing happens, sending links to random stuff and messaging her like nothing happened. First, Neki’s friends jumped in to tell her to leave Neki alone, but when Neki stepped in after Moon sent another poetry-message, she begged for Moon to just leave her alone. If that doesn’t show obsessiveness and manipulation idk what will.

Section three: The lies, lack of care, and more manipulation (Bonus! Gaslighting)

This section will cover my side of the story mostly. But here you will see all the lies that Moon has told me to take advantage of my empathy and to make me feel bad for myself.

•Lied about a toxic discord server where the mods and people within it were against her. In actuality, they were against her because she was sending nsfw pictures to a sfw section of the server.

•Lied about being forced into a r*pe roleplay on Omegle. I suspect this was actually the r*pe roleplay she forced Neki into

•Lied about a toxic ex-friend of hers spreading rumors about her on TikTok. That friend, if they even exist at all, was probably warning people about Moon. But at the same time Moon gave me no proof whatsoever so it’s hard to say if it was true or not.

•This one was really dumb on my end, but Moon lied about being cursed by the fae and said that whenever she touched the water someone would die. I was skeptical, even after she explained it to me and way after as well, but I have spiritual beliefs and am aware of the threats the fae can pose if angered or disrespected. I don’t know too much on the fae, but I let this incident slide either way.

•To add to that, Moon gaslit me to try and make me believe she never even said that when I brought it up casually. I figured it was a lie for attention and that she was feeling neglected, so I let it slide

•She lied about her sexuality. She told me she was pan, and told Neki she was bi. Moon claims rk have never lied about her sexuality, but she would comment stuff such as “pansexual panic” in a old book I made, and had Malleus on a pansexual flag as her pfp when I first met her.

•One of the biggest issues is that she lied about her age on tumblr. She claimed to be over 18 so she could look at adult content, when she is in fact 16. I found out and confronted her, and she told me she did it so she could look at adult content. Now, she’s saying it was because of Neki’s influence on her.

•Shortly after this incident and me telling her I needed space, she began posting stuff about how she was a mistake and only made things bad. All clearly for pity. But she also made a announcement saying people were sending her death threats for no reason, which I believe was a lie for pity since there was no proof, and it was never brought up again.

She always went to her “friends” to cry about these problems of hers. But if I talked about what was upsetting me, she would give something half assed like “want some cookies to cheer you up?” “Want a hug?” And that would be it.

She never valued her friends. She only saw us as her own mini paparazzi

Section three: Sexualizing minors

Moon has posted a sexualized cosplay of Ciel, a thirteen year old boy from Black Butler, on her DevianArt, and disrespected the sexual boundaries of a 13 year old girl. However, she respected me just fine, never once crossing my boundaries.

We suspect it’s because of a fetish. She fetishizes thirteen year olds to be specific. As shown by her actions

Conclusion

MoonRose45 is a predator and manipulator. We need to get her off the internet so she can’t harm any young teens again. Simple as that.

the thing that i wanted to accomplish when i was actively identifying as an anti, the whole reason i started being that way, is that at the time 5+ years ago fandom culture was still extremely “always be nice, never ever criticize or ‘shame’ anything, we’re all oppressed loner geeks here and being ‘mean’ to each other would be the worst social crime possible, worse than racism, worse than anything!!! boo hoo hoo!!!” and THAT is what created a really unhealthy passively-grooming environment. because expressing discomfort with things it’s literally normal to be uncomfortable with was met with “how dare you be shaming people, you’re a bad person.” 

there wasn’t the same kind of content warning culture we have now, the edgy problematic shipping was literally just mixed in with everything else, people would presume comfort with all sorts of subjects and bring up edgy shit unprompted in response to non-edgy works. that’s the kind of shit that creates normalization, that’s what i grew up with: “i hope ron and hermione will be married with babies in the epilogue <3” and “it would be hot if snape sexually abused harry <3” were literally both just What Shipping Is and there were too many spaces where they were talked about side by side. the casual attitude was what was actively dangerous and unhealthy. 

things are a lot fucking different than they were 5, 10, 15 years ago now!! there’s CONSTANT discussion of which subjects are harmful and why, there’s well-understood pressure to tag and warn for things, a lot of nsfw fandom accounts actively block any minors they encounter. there’s like, an actual divide now between ‘normal’ shipping and nsfw content and ‘problematic’ content. wahoo we won!! literally just this amount of separation wouldve resolved massive chunks of what was bad for me and so many others as a kid/teenager in fandom! 

but like i have to be honest bro a lot of antis are on a fucking power trip and they dont want to stop getting that constant reward of righteous anger being validated. it was obvious to me like, immediately, only a few months into me being actively an anti i would see people all over who would parrot talking points without actually understanding them, invent new ‘rules’ tailored to ridiculously specific situations so they could ‘call out’ a person or ship they didnt like for petty reasons, arbitrarily enforce standards based on their own preferences... not everyone is righteous, not everyone is a wounded person trying to protect others. a whole fucking lot of antis are just people who love the thrill of Being Right at all costs. Papergames released four official character books and a separate bonus one that goes on about the other organizations and minor characters. On the sites that are selling them, some of them have attached more previews of the contents, aka. the profiles of the men.

Chinese players did god's work and transcribed the profiles, so I've translated them.

Interestingly, it looks like the English server names really are their official English names now. No comment on Kiro's name but that's because "L" is tricky in Asian languages.

[ABOUT THE MEANING OF HIS NAME] At the time of his birth, his mother felt he was the most precious treasure bestowed by the heavens and wished for her own child to be blessed(1). Meanwhile, his father had high expectations for this child and hoped for him to be someone temperate in word and actions(2). In the end, they joined these two beautiful wishes and hopes into one name --- Zeyan.

(1) The word 恩泽 (en ze) is hard to translate but it's basically favor bestowed from a higher being to a lower being (ruler to their officials, nature to humans, etc).

(2) The phrase is 谨言慎行 (jin yan shenxing), which is to be cautious in words and deeds. I chose to translate it as temperate, but it's like being deliberate and knowing right and wrong in your words and actions.

This sort of personality constantly gives others a dangerous feeling, so that it is hard for people who have just met him to see him as an Evol agent.

[ABOUT HIM] Bai Qi is a brave and decisive man, and also filled with an utterly fearless and adventurous spirit. Rather than using words, he is more inclined to using actions to express his heart. He is like a wolf, seeming to be alone, dangerous, and he walks through the world doing things his own way. But when he sets his mind on someone or something, he becomes extremely steadfast and loyal, and that will never be easily shaken.

(1) This is a bit vague, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean money. I think it means that it took a lot of effort and things had to be sacrificed for him to become a superstar.

[ABOUT HIM] A cheerful sunlight, extraordinary charm, and an open sincerity. These are the labels for the idol, Zhou Qiluo. An idol's work is very busy, but he never once complains; he just tries to show his best side to the audience. (3) The word here is 江湖 (jianghu) which is the term used for a community of martial artists (those who read Chinese novels would be familiar with this), but it can also be used as a term for a community of outlaws, aka. hackers.

Zhou Qiluo also has a mysterious third identity, which is that of Helios in Black Swan. When he acts as Helios, he is silent and decisive. If it weren't for having the same appearance, it would be hard for someone to think that they were the same person. If Zhou Qiluo could be said to be the sun, then Helios is the moon hidden in the night. But regardless of whether he is in the light or the darkness, he is himself.

[ABOUT THE MEANING OF HIS NAME] Once he was called 1562, later he was called 3684, then even later he was called Zhou Qiluo; in his life, any decision is to be made without regrets(4) or turning back.
