Getting everything in order to move into an apartment and the landlord keeps suggesting work hours for times I can get the keys and it's taking everything I have not to say "sorry, some of us have real jobs"
#ceaseless rambles#generally I'm opposed to hating on landlords for “not having real jobs”#because the actual issue is that they exploit people's needs for housing and lock things necessary for survival behind fuckoff high prices#and there's nothing wrong with not having a job#as long as your method of making money isn't exploiting people#but dude. I've said multiple times i get off work at 3:15 and i can do it right after that#and he keeps suggesting times before that#do you not understand how this works#it's extra annoying because i can't even access my phone during work hours#and there's biosecurity protocols to get in and out#and he's just kinda ignoring that#agh

Andrew Tate, a huge hypocrite, is the perfect example of: create the disease, sell the cure." Now, let me explain.
Tate starts off with his webcam business. He openly admits on camera - filming and releasing the footage himself -, that not only is he purposefully manipulating girls, making them fall in love with him (he himself calls it and actively uses the term "lover boy method" as a descriptor) but then also convincing them to work for him as cam-girls, telling those women that they could get rich together if she would simply start instrumentalizing her body and sexuality. He continues to explain in great detail how exactly he emotionally abused those women, lied to them and used several manipulation tactics on them. But I'd rather not mention all that here, since that would open up a whole new conversation and take too long to fully dive into this.
He also admitted on camera that he robbed them of about half of the money those women made "working for him" and then states and I quote: They thought they were on 50% and I said that the despair of the money was because of taxes."
He continues to talk about men "falling in love" with the women he recruited for his Webcam business which were selling their houses, spending all of their life savings etc. in order to pay for the cam-girl services and he commented on those men's actions saying," give me all of it" admitting he didn't at all care for the lives or fates of those men. Tate built his whole empire on being a pimp, which he defines as and i quote again" being a positive, inspirational, motivating person", exploiting and extracting money from lonely, depressed, porn-addicted men.
Now something might start to click. But isn't he a known advocate for those exact men? Telling them that porn consumption is bad, to get their health and depression in check, recommending going to the gym and preaching about how much he hates prostitutes?
He's an advocate for men's suffering and problems? After he caused so much damage to them, making money off of them, taking advantage of them and furthered their misery? The irony.
First he scammed those men, taking their money with good conscience, now he is an advocate for them, making them hate the kind of women he himself manipulated into this, talking about how bad porn is, when he literally owned a webcam business. And don't dare to come at me with "but people change, maybe he learnt from his mistakes".
For now I just recounted why he's a huge hypocrite but now let's focus on why he is a huge mysognist. He has said many things I don't even want to recount, including but ofc not limited to him demonstrating how he'd hit a women in the face that would "misbehave" and not "listen to him" and I have also unfortunately personally seen the video footage that is going around of him beating up a woman with a belt.
One example out of his many many statements so I can further lead on with this text: He further talks about his webcam business, saying "the only girls i couldn't recruit, were girls who had rich parents. Because they're like: Oh, but I don't need that money, my parents are rich! Girls are gonna get their Luis Vuitton bag either way." Implying how all women are superficial and only rich parents prevent a girl from being a "hoe". He got his fame and money from the same women he continues to publicly shame now.
He damaged women and men at the same time, yet there's still people, mostly men, defending him saying "yeah, but he also sometimes tells things that are true!". I appreciate your intention to differentiate and trying to filter through the many bullshit things he's said just so you can cling on to a single true statement.
Even the worst person sometimes has valid points, but that doesn't mean that we can just overlook the things he did in the past and the overall harm he has caused and is STILL causing.
Aside from all of this stuff, Tate continued to deny many of his statements he himself posted online before, showing massive double standards. It seems like he just tries to profit off what's giving him the largest, most uncritical fan base and by targeting incels who love to follow and hear an "alpha male" talk about how "all women are bitches", fueling their anger due to being rejected by women, he seems to have found a goldmine.
He promotes harmful, misogynistic views on women, promoting toxic behavior towards them and is imprinting on the minds of young, impressionable, vulnerable men.
If after knowing all this, you're still a defender of Tate, you might be just as bad as Tate himself.

What signature moves do TIG's characters have (any that you want, but as always I'm partial to CK Terry and Cash) when trying to seduce beloved for the first time? I know that most mortals would hop into bed with him without him needing to lift a finger, but let's say for argument's sake beloved doesn't want to seem easy.
---
― For Terry Silver, one would think his signature move of seduction is flaunting his wealth, money, connections, mansions, cars, material possessions and himself too primarily, because, well, he's Terry Silver and he knows entirely the effect he has on people, a factor he majorly and very gleefully exploits at any given opportunity, but I feel strategies like this are ironically reserved for individuals and situations he has an entirely transactional leaning towards. You scratch my back, I reward you for your due diligence once you deserve it because nothing's for free. He's a shrewd businessman and Machiavellian after all and some things in life are strictly business. For people he genuinely likes, though? His seduction equals with big promises he entirely intends to make come true to their fullest and then some. Promises of everlasting devotion. Protection. Fealty. Pretty much fixing someone's life from the bottom up. Helping his person get away with bloody murder, if need be. You name it. Terry flinches from nothing. Never. He's a shockingly gracious and stubbornly forthcoming person to be loved by when you really think about it. At his most honest, Terry can be as blunt and transparent as grabbing someone by the shoulders, looking right into their eyes and just openly telling them everything he intends to do for them for the rest of their life, always, and then staying true to his word with every fiber of his being seeing as how he makes it his life's mission to do right by his beloved. If that isn't enough to not only seduce someone but make them swoon with intoxicated wonder and bewilderment, then I don't know what will.
― In the case of Terry McCain, jumping into bed isn't paramount to him, because in his own words, vaguely paraphrased from memory, that isn't a priority to him and he's not that kind of guy. Even though, validly, he could get all the action he wanted if he wanted. Thing is, he doesn't want it. Not from just anyone. Only one special person. Catholic principles, huh? As such, his signature move is poised more on love and how he achieves that is by being available for his beloved whenever and however --- whether they agree to it or not. Which means this man will almost stubbornly be in beloved's shadow, tail them, be close at hand, pester them to a degree if need be and pretty much insert himself into their life until he's accepted by them however long it takes. Breaking into their life, privacy and sphere, literally and figuratively isn't entirely out of the question either. He is stubborn, he is temperamental and he won't give up until the subject of his affection accepts him and his advances; a tactic slightly contradictive for a man who's existence is dedicated to the upholding of law and order. But, you see, Terry doesn't think he's doing anything wrong or that he's even some sort of sleaze with ulterior motives who's committing a crime of passion. Not like those lowlives on the streets he apprehends. He is himself and they're...them. No, no, he seduces by being consistently there until it becomes a given he's sleeping with you. And eventually? You'll simply have to understand and accept just how much he cares for you. That he's the best for you. Always was. Just took him never giving up for you to see it.
― Gus Travis is a gangbanger and his method of seduction is, initially at least, typically streetwise and the approach any tatted up bad man in a leather jacket with a gun tucked into his jeans would go for; a hint of danger, a hint of sexiness, coming at you first and doing so boldly, buying you a drink or five, putting his arms around you, heated banter, flirting very openly, jealously getting in your space and ensuring every other person within eye distance steers clear of you because for the time being, this is his turf. But, it ain't that simple, because Gus has layers to him and while he might seem like a dangerous, detached criminal sort (and god knows he is) the very process of the seduction it takes to get you into bed might just hit Gus harder than the very subject of the seduction and he very well could end up smitten with you when it was you was supposed to be enchanted by him first and he might end up smitten way before he gets anywhere near second base. Man falls into his own trap, in a sense, and yeah, suddenly, getting to fuck you simply isn't enough anymore. He's here thinking being exclusive, claiming you, making you the Bonnie to his Clyde, tattooing your face over his heart, marriage, being partners in crime, and for all we know, sailing the seven seas with you in a boat bearing your name. His imagination runs wild and he seduces himself where you are concerned. Man's actually pathetically in love and he gets to this state awfully quickly. What starts out as him trying to get into your pants might just result in being tied to him in matrimony a week from then.
― Jack Blaylock's signature move of seduction is being relatable. Being more or less just some guy working as a PI out abroad. Posing himself as interesting enough to be peculiar and catch the attention of those who seek him out and even those who don't, with a dash of being seemingly ordinary enough to feel secure. Being that whiff of civilian normality, safety and the known in an unknown place. You could almost be relieved wherever you're travelling in the world that you stumbled upon a kindred spirit like him in a sea of strangers and that as a result, you've someone to share similar topics with, similar interests, anecdotes, worldviews, desires, but little do you know Jack, or rather Timothy, deliberately placed himself on your path and designed whatever persona he presents to you to intentionally appeal to you so far from your roots. To get you to trust him. Open up to him. Come to him for help and advice. Put your guard down. To give him the chance to befriend you. Sure, act the honeypot by taking you to bed and making it seem like a spontaneous development of things. This is a professional deformation of his, being an undercover Hitman --- utilizing subterfuge to get a target disarmed. Not that you're a target...but in a way, yeah, yes you are. You're his target. The prime target. The target that matters most. So, fact is, Jack will literally befriend you straight into seduction, into his bed and then right into his crosshairs.
― When it comes to Cash, I don't figure he seduces --- he just takes. Because, keep in mind, he's not the oratorial type. He isn't a schmoozer. He won't charm in the classical sense. He won't act slick. He won't be braggadocious. He won't utilize big words. Sometimes even no words at all. He won't jump through verbal hoops of fire to knock someone off their feet because that's just not in his character to do. His signature 'move' isn't him being any sort of Casanova. His signature move is his quiet audacity. The fact he'll know all your whereabouts. The in's and out's of your life. Your comings. Goings. That he'll totally abuse the privileges of his badge to discover all he can about you. What's the worst that can happen? He'll get suspended? Heck, he already got suspended for much, much worse. That he'll watch. Observe from afar. In broad daylight, if need be. Yes. Stalk. And he doesn't even particularly care if it's stalking. He developed an interest and this territory? You in it? It's all his. One step at a time, without beloved, beloved you even noticing he slips closer and closer to the target and by the time you two officially 'meet' you'll never really know that Cash has already met you months ago and knows everything there is to know about you. Who would've thought? He seems so unassuming too. Strong, silent type. Cop. The way you 'met'? Undoubtedly just as unassuming and day-to-day ordinary to the degree there's no discernable tactic one can single out for Cash to use. He just appears in your life. And yet, all the strategies he utilized to get there were undoubtedly a web of complex machinations tucked behind a silent facade that ensure you'll never even put two and two together that this man basically besieged your whole life and virtually took you hostage a long time ago.
― Jan Valek doesn't have signature moves in the modern, contemporary understanding of it all. Man's medieval. Quite literally speaking. His manner is medieval. His view of things is medieval. And his approach is, in weird ways, medieval too, regardless of the fact he's been alive for six centuries; much of him hasn't changed and remained frozen in time, just like he himself has. There's something almost chivalrous to him in spite of him being quite literally The Father of the Damned. There's something worshipful and adoring as he presses a lingering kiss to his beloved's hand, talks about them in highly idealistic and poetic terms and looks at them like they hung the stars and the moon itself on the sky right from the get go, mixing raw eroticism with an anachronistic, near courtly feel for romance, quite literally loving them into seduction and it could, technically, taking a vampire's innate, supernatural charm into consideration, take him no time at all to consummate beloved, as such, his trick, if it can even be called a trick, on how he gets beloved to open up for him like a blossoming flower is by downright wooing them like they're heavenly perfection itself and in his eyes --- they are. None of this is a ploy or a ruse. Manipulation. Strategy. For Jan Valek, this is absolute honesty. His undead heart wholly and entirely on display. So, if beloved gives in, it'll be genuinely because of how unabashedly lionizing and reverent Jan Valek is towards them, bordering on deification. After all, how many people, immortal or mortal will compare the subject of their interest to God's light and the Sun itself and actually mean it?

uuuugh intellectual property rant i think about a lot because i can't bear to try the Artist career in current conditions
unfortunately digital media reality interacts really stupid with the concept of "intellectual property"
we can often secretly agree intellectual property is a bad thing because sharing and iterating upon ideas is a good thing, because for eons and eons that's been living creatures' method for moving forward. however, since you cannot actually own a digital or online object (it gets reproduced! that's how it's viewed on a new device! it exists by being copied and re-shared!), the intellectual property becomes the only thing underpinning the collection of pixels produced in digital art shared online
so then generally left-wing people still end up arguing for their inherent, capitalism-given right to restrict access to new or unique ideas. because this is already a system they exploit for money. not necessarily in a malicious way, but like, they have already built their careers on the current legal/tech platform, which depends on the idea that humans are not just legally, but morally wrong to steal and re-publish information. in a world where "information gets duplicated for free for the person to view your work" is the bones of the main communication system. am i going crazy here
idk, like it's difficult for me to even argue that people producing digital items have a property-like right to them. you have a layered PSD or Premiere file or whatever that you don't share (on some level this is "the artwork" in ALL its dimensions), and you share thousands of flat copies you can't claim to own (you hand them over to apps and websites). in practice, you "own" the right to sue someone else, if they use one of the many auto-generated copies in a way you personally dislike (e.g. they earn money that you believe you would have earned otherwise)
which like. that's still not "owning your art", in my understanding. what you "own" is the right to link endlessly multiplying copies to yourself - much like a book author over all copies printed anywhere and everywhere. but book copies are solid objects that can be stolen, at least! this falls apart with e-books just like it falls apart with digital artwork! we're all trying to fake some kind of monetisable scarcity with digital files!! ! am i going crazy here!!!!
(and the only way you can logic your way into scarcity is by believing in your own legally-reinforced superpower of Intellectual Property, an ephemeral flavour you create that no one else has the right to replicate. how recently in history did we invent this authorial overreach vs how long have we been iterating on shit in spite of our friend saying loudly in the background "Hey What the fuck I painted that kind of thing first")
so like, the entire argument put forth by anti-AI digital artists completely falls apart for me if i level with it morally, genuinely
i can't stop mulling this over because i Hate that the premise of "art for fun, for me" as a career, its financial security, is staked on me becoming a digital cop. i dont want to do that! and non-digital materials aren't the medium most actual art Work is done in (because again, that work takes place in the realm where we practise monetising IP & being an e-cop about people re-using my art). so the only role i can see art playing in my life is a hobby.
and i guess on an interpersonal level it sucks that I'm separated from most "real artists" just by this refusal to utilise "IP powers" in real life. refusal to rely on money i "should have earned" from someone else's re-iteration or re-share to a different audience. god just saying that makes me feel nasty - yeah, i the original artist coulda done that hypothetical re-iteration too, but DID I?! isn't that the argument we use to value art - "you coulda done it but DID YOU" ?!
i dont know. am i going crazy here.
#personal#controversial thoughts below the cut.... i think its being raised on digital piracy as long as ive been sat at a screen#i cannot become what ive been evading and avoiding all these years. the separation is not so large in my eyes

Yes. We also have a problem of people working themselves to death but we don't admit that. Our minimum wage is not a living wage, you can be denied the right to water and shade during summer months while working on roofs or on roads in set states. You get zero benefits unless you work 40 hours a week, however companies are not required to offer those positions en mass so they can theoretically work you to 39 hours and not give you benefits. Set jobs have a tipper's exception, meaning you can be working a job for as low as 2 dollars an hour. Companies in many states are legally allowed to fire you for any reason as long as the paperwork excludes race, gender, sexual identity or religious beliefs, meaning it's not that they CAN'T fire you for those things, but they CAN do so if they can create a believable enough excuse, example: Muslims don't get hired and get fired for following their religion all the time due to the forced time off, with literally any small excuse being used as the reasoning, such as tardiness of a minute, this also means jobs can fire you for getting your leg broken using the exact same method. Again, it isn't relevant that the real reason for the firing is based on a protected class, it matters far more that they can end your employment at will for any small infraction with zero care nor oversight.
Due to a failure to regulate companies and protect workers rights in the US most Americans are working 2 to 4 jobs on average just to make ends meet while corporations chronically short staff their work places and overwork their existing employees. This dichotomy is leading to a massive amount of unemployed Americans, and due to how strict our "Unemployed" status is the stats will not show it, meanwhile it's largely affecting the youngest Americans who are on track to be financially poorer than their parents despite being more educated on average and having far more technical knowledge and skills.
Basically if you're an adult and work in the US, you're likely being exploited. Not only is there no guarantee of sick or vacation days, companies are very much trained to do everything in their power to resist giving you more money, training you, giving you consistent hours or accepting your commitments. Hell companies don't even bother to staff properly anymore and you can really tell. The only difference between say us here in the USA and Japan is that in Japan people near universally acknowledge the work problem, while here literally no one cares and business leaders are suddenly perplexed why constantly raising prices while laying off thousands of workers to be replaced by fewer, less paid workers is eating into their profits. Like, IDK guys, Ford figured out that your worker needs money to buy your product, didn't seem that hard to figure out.
I think adults need summer vacation. Like let's just close down all our jobs for three months and play outside. Please. I'm so tired.
#also ford was a piece of garbage and even he is smarter than businessmen of today#like i swear evil greedy scumbags have never been dumber than they are now#i honestly can't tell if that's bad or good

The Importance of Software Testing Services in Modern Development
Agile is a Software Quality Assurance Provider in Dubai, and software is essential to practically every business in the modern, technologically advanced world. Organizations rely on sturdy and reliable software solutions to manage day-to-day corporate operations and improve consumer experiences. However, as software complexity grows, so do the threats to its performance, security, and functionality. This is when software testing services become invaluable. Software testing evaluates an application's functionality, security, and performance to ensure it meets the required specifications. It is intended to detect and fix flaws or vulnerabilities in software before it is published to users. Testing guarantees that the product is dependable, user-friendly, and functions as intended under various circumstances. A well-executed testing process ensures that the final product is high quality, free of critical bugs, and reliable under diverse scenarios. In a world where user satisfaction directly impacts business success, releasing faulty software can lead to disastrous consequences like loss of revenue, damaged reputation, and legal implications. Early and extensive software testing may appear to be an additional expenditure, but it can save firms a lot of money in the long run. Finding and fixing defects during the development phase is significantly more cost-effective than addressing them after launch, which may result in downtime, emergency fixes, and dissatisfied users. Security is one of the most critical components of software development nowadays, particularly given the surge in cyber threats. Testing services safeguard the security of your product by discovering potential flaws that bad actors could exploit. Some strategies for strengthening a system's defences include penetration testing, security auditing, and code reviews.
In our opinion, as a Software Testing Services, user experience (UX) is critical to the success of any software application. Companies can gain insights into how users interact with software by testing usability, identifying areas of annoyance, and making necessary modifications. Providing a smooth user experience improves customer retention and user pleasure. Many businesses, including healthcare, finance, and e-commerce, must follow tight regulatory guidelines. product testing services may guarantee that applications meet industry-specific requirements, lowering the risk of legal penalties and ensuring the product is ready for market. Software testing isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. Different testing methods are required depending on the nature of the software, its use, and the business's goals. Some key types are as follows: This testing ensures the program meets the specifications. It assures that all software operations, from the user interface to the back-end processes, work as intended. Performance testing assesses how well software operates under various workloads, assuring responsiveness and stability under duress. This form of testing is critical for apps that will manage high-traffic or complex transactions. As previously said, security testing detects flaws that can be exploited. This may include checking for SQL injections, XSS attacks, and other typical vulnerabilities that could compromise the system. Usability testing measures how easy it is for users to browse and interact with the software. This includes assessing the design, layout, and overall user experience to ensure the program is user-friendly and intuitive. Automation testing utilizes scripts and tools to conduct tests automatically, which can be more efficient than manual testing for repeated activities. Automation is commonly used for regression testing, load testing, and continuous integration pipelines. In today's competitive industry, where people expect flawless experiences and unwavering security, software testing services are critical to delivering excellent, in-house or outsourced goods; testing guarantees that your software meets the highest quality and performance standards.

Uh there is so much going on in this post.
I think because colonization, the development of modern science, feudalism, the "green revolution," industrialization, capitalism...and a whole bunch of other things...happened a certain way, everybody thinks the whole map of connections between these things and agriculture shows the Fundamental Way Agriculture Works, instead of just a way agriculture worked this one time.
"Subsistence farming" broadly describes a lot of traditional ways of making a living that people still follow. When you go into somebody else's culture and try to change the way people live to something you think is "better" and more "advanced," usually that ends up being something called colonizing them.
It seems a little demeaning to assume that everybody who lives the subsistence farmer life is miserable and would definitely be happier working in something industrialized or characteristic of "late stage capitalism." The Industrial Revolution really did not improve the lives of the workers it brutalized. Then and nowadays alike, I would argue that risking grievous bodily harm in the depths of mines or working oppressively long hours in factories, in very dangerous environments or with toxic substances that kill you over time, certainly isn't "better" than subsistence farming. To say that people voluntarily left farming for the mines or the factories, ignores the coercion that influenced that decision.
It's foolish to act as if we moved past "back breaking" agricultural labor with industrialization. There is less direct human labor relative to the amount of production, but human beings are still in fields doing agricultural labor under the hot sun, they are still suffering in poverty, and even where they have been replaced with machinery, somebody has to assemble the machinery and mine the metals to build it with.
If doing all your own textile production sounds so terrible, imagine doing someone else's! Obviously if the process is mechanized it is less labor-intensive, but still, a mill worker in Bangladesh made my underwear (the label says) and I wonder how much they're getting paid to make underwear all day.
Empowering smallholders is one thing, and a good goal, but the transition from subsistence farming to modern agriculture revolution didn't happen by the empowerment of smallholders. Instead it was disempowerment; nowadays most agricultural laborers don't own their land and are widely abused and mistreated by their bosses. I did some reading on it a while back and it is likely that the largest amount of human trafficking is in agricultural labor.
What's more, the sustainable and holistic practices of agriculture are being lost and replaced by destructive industrial methods.
A subsistence farmer cannot get medicine for a treatable disease? Why? What does that mean? ...Oh, you mean the company that makes the medicine won't give it to them, because they don't have money...
The practical limitations of agriculture are a totally separate thing to discuss—if a subsistence farmer's diet is poor, maybe that's because of physical limits on how much a mule can work, but if a subsistence farmer can't get medicine for a treatable disease, that's because a larger entity decided the farmer's life is worthless.
A job where your labor can be exploited, and so you're not totally worthless, isn't better by the inherent merits, it's just better because you're exploitable and can be wrung out.
HALT!✋😐
did you remember to express gratitude for not having to subsistence farm today?

Well to be fair there is also the child labor, the killing and abducting people, the snitching, the giving money and power to assholes rather than sharing it with the people (it's not like he gives Shimmer to people freely, to me it looks like he outsourced production and distribution of it to the chem barons) ... ;)
In the end, I think we know too little about Silco's actual Shimmer operation to know why Ekko has such an issue with it. I do think Silco likely reserves the best stuff for himself and the people closest to him like Sevika. And that whatever fuels let's say those chem baron guards is a different combination.
We also don't really know the long term health benefits to anybody. Nor do we know how much it costs for the normal consumer and what they have to do to maintain their habit.
With Jinx they allude rather heavily to the concept that there are serious downsides to heavy use or at least the ones who know the most about it, Silco and Singed think there is. And there are the addicts deep in the sump who don't really get cool super powers from it.
I do love Silco, too, but sometimes I get bored with the uwu-ing of him.
I do think the more interesting question about Silco that exists outside of the pros and cons of Shimmer and outside of "is it okay to kill people from Piltover" is his effect on the city. And I think that's going to be the interesting thing to see in season 2. What is his effect on the city, what happens when he's gone? Did he really make Zaun and Jinx stronger so they can do well even without him? Or is everything going to fall apart even worse after he is gone because his hands off style both of parenting and of leading Zaun have negative effects, because it means that Zaun is lacking stable structures and Jinx is lacking stable coping mechanism.
(and I don't mean that as a leading question, I genuinely think that it can go either way, that we could see Jinx drawing from the things he taught her positively or we could see her only doing better after she accepts help from others)
Another really interesting bit about Silco is kind of ... how one sees capitalism in a way? I think there was this idea (I think I read somebody mentioning it somewhere) that the city goes through different stages just like the characters do.
And for Zaun I think that is the river in a lot of ways. Where we see it back when Viktor was young where is was still cleaner and children can play in it and it's going worse and worse over time. I've kind of always seen it that in a way Silco stands for liberatarian capitalistic progress. Mind, a progress that exists almost as a defense mechanism, because it is a competition with Piltover's progress and the idea is that Zaun uses questionable (chem-tech) methods to do their own version of progress compared to Piltover's hextech based ones (oh, I so, so, so badly do the thing where hextech is actually made out of Brackern).
So the question is what view do the creators have of progress. I always kind of viewed it as Vander's reign in a lot of ways was a pipe dream, an illusion. He wanted to create a safe space and bribed the outside world into staying out, but it wasn't really a sensible sustainable plan that would work long term. Because you can't really run from progress and you can't really run and hide from the politics and violence of the real world.
Do the creators see it that way too? Or are they also nostalgic for like idealized more innocent times? Is it just small mindedness to look at Silco's more industrialized world with the addicts in the sump and the children in the factories and not find it beautiful, ie is it kind of shitty manipulation to look at the more punk aesthetic of post timeskip Zaun and wag your finger and find it bad? Or is it short sighted for Silco that he thinks exploitative capitalistic competition is the only way?
(note the idea of contrasting what Silco created with a more serene and beautiful vision of nature isn't just there in the different stages of the river or the more softer folky colors of the old Last Drop, it's also there when Ekko's tree is introduced. Which again Ekko arguably being the one who is the middle ground between technology and nature, because they clearly embrace technology but they also try to be in tune with nature. Just like he is a middle ground in regards to fighting but with what methods)
"Silco is bad because he floods the Undercity with drugs"
Okay but they're also magic drugs that give you superpowers, and also Silco is a user, and also Shimmer functions as a lifesaving medicine for Jinx, so really the entire drug plotline is sloppy as hell if they actually wanted me to think Silco's a villain. Shimmer is like if heroin could bring you back from the brink of death, and also turn you into a werewolf that could eat a senator.
But I also carry Narcan in the real world, smoke a fuckton of weed for my chronic pain and mental illness, and advocate for safe drug consumption sites, so my interaction with drug narratives in media is definitely impacted by that.
Anyway I love Silco.
