#speculation nation#i also saw on one of the new hires' phone background what looked like a kpop boy#might casually broach the subject later#gone is the age of anime fans. here is the age of kpop#lmao im pretty sure a lot of us do still like anime but not as many as kpop. that i know of.#as it turns out bubble tea shops attract a lot of people who r interested in things from asian cultures. who knew.#like yea bubble tea is uh. taiwanese i think?? or thai?? one of those. dont remember which rn#but we get a LOT of chinese people. + the owner & his wife talk in uh. mandarin i think#& we have some japanese things like matcha.#& we have thai tea now too#idk just a whole big mix of stuff. it works out lol#it'd be more useful for my job for me to learn mandarin bc there r a fair amount of foreign exchange students & such#who barely know english & we have to struggle through getting their order. together.#much easier if we have someone who knows mandarin there bc it's just like 'Hey can u help take this order?' and it's all over quick#there was one time tho this japanese dude came in who knew VERY little english#& i knew so little japanese i could barely help him. (this being years ago)#so he used google translate to communicate lol. we figured it out.#one thing is for sure tho. im definitely much better at understanding heavy accents than i was when i first got this job lol
