Soundwave had never trusted him and very much thought he was behind it. It was kind of a suicide mission he went on with the newly recruited Deadlock who was determined to go with him. They run into Jazz, who is also breaking in because Orion is missing, which leads them to working together (SW lied through his teeth about hisnintentions and was definitely going to kill Orion and maybe die after if the guards caught him as he isn't handling this well).

Then he finds him, and it is very clear he's not there willingly.

They break him out and hide out with an old friend named Ratchet, who shoves them all in a backroom and lies to the cops before using his connections to get them out.

Soundwave doesn't expect to come back with all of them because Ratchet's lie is going to get found out, Jazz isn't leaving Orion alone anytime soon, and Orion Pax has changed and Soundwave is reluctantly treating him like Megatronus's widow and somewhat succesor as much as it pains him, which Orion would be considered in their cultural as legal marriages were difficult to achieve. Feelings matter.

I figure in this Starscream without Megatron as a charismatic young opposition stays as one of the figureheads for the Council, which is absolutely destroying and speaking against Orion and Soundwave in the news. Trying to dig up every bit of dirt on them both. Ultra Magnus is his co-leader.

Soundwave is deeply uncomfortable as leader and figurehead, but he cannot bring himself to trust Orion to lead. Which does lead to him trying to manipulate information or gaslight Orion to make certain decisions, but Orion is an archivist and just as skilled and calls him out on it. Challenging Soundwave's on preconceptions even as Orion works on unpacking his own. He also pettily starts dragging Soundwave to stand beside him as a visible leader and speaker and tells him tough luck.

Prowl and Ironhide and Praxus get recruited to be firmly Decepticons under their shared leadership. Especially following the murder of Megatronus. It's another matter of contention for the two of them, but the ultimately answer the call for aid and gather a lot of support and high morale when they work to evacuate as many people as possible and get some of their most important officers out of the Council's decision to "make an example" out of them. The city is lost, but they get a lot of citizens out. Who have skills their fledgling revolution definitely needs and it further acts as a counter to the propaganda about them. Though the Council tries to spin it.

Soundwave spends half their time together wanting to punt him through a wall and they are both exceptionally petty at times whi h Soundwave wears as a badge of honor to get Orion yelling back or a few times actually biting him.

Jazz thinks it's hilarious when the "brawl like protoforms" while Prowl despairs at them not having "the sense Primus gave a cyberpigeon" (I love that cowboy/southern Prowl is in Aligned which means Praxus is southern and I love that). Onslaught despairs at the fact his leaders have no dignitt. Ratchet thinks they are all being ridiculous, but Makeshift, Ironhide, Scrapper, and Deadlock are taking bets on who wins. Shockwave is mostly uninterested.

Orion has a surprising amount as he is very slippery and somewhat shameless when he gets to the biting stage. Soundwave reluctantly respects that, and Orion is a little more prone to being snippy with him, which Soundwave considers it more honest than his polite, carefully maintained face he's learned to keep.

Jazz is the one who makes comments about Soundwave and Orion's potential feelings.

Starscream is officially declared Prime and Orion and Soundwave are determined to find the Matrix first to keep it from him.

(Alpha Trion has been desperately trying to track Orion down because this was very much not as planned.)

So our line up is pretty different, and Soundwave's learning on the fly here

Iicr, before the war, Starscream was a pretty high ranking neutral general (and was for a decent chunk of it too) so this makes sense

“You guys are on in 5 minutes. So do any last minute touch ups and rituals; and if you need me for anything I’m always here you just have to get me.” I say smiling at the group of 4 men who I have grown to love over the short period of time I've been their tour manager. Their personalities and them as people just make it so easy to fall in love with them. Except for one; Luke. Anytime I would try to be close and nice to him like the rest of the boys I am not even given the cold shoulder I just get a blank stare or just a nod yes or no. It’s like he’s numb. If he had given me the cold shoulder I would at least know he just doesn’t like me, but I just get a blank stare.

I’ve asked the guys if I did something that offended him and why he didn’t like me, and they would just look at each other with the same look they are having right now when they see I’m waiting for a confirmation from Luke after I announced they had 5 minutes left and I got nothing back not eve a blank stare this time just nothing. He doesn’t look at me at all. Not looking up from putting his makeup away into his makeup bag even with the uncomfortable silence that wafted over the dressing room once everyone knew he wasn’t going to respond back.

It was like he was in an entirely different world that no one else was privy to except for him. But his face didn’t show the bliss that you get when you're daydreaming. It held nothing but concentration. Not knowing what had him so concentrated that made him look like he was about to explode into a million pieces, I walked over to him to see if there was anything I could do to help him. He might not like me, but I'm still his tour manager and bottom line I will do anything to make this tour more magical than the last even if talking to him has me on an edge of a cliff from nerves.

“Luke, is there anything I can do for you? You guys are on in a little less than 5 minutes.” I said to him softly, barely over a whisper looking at him with so much sincerity that a tour manager probably shouldn’t have for the lead singer of the band she is managing, but I couldn’t help it. Even with all the blank stares and nods. I couldn’t help but fall in love with him, going beyond the platonic love that I have for the other guys. He was just perfect with all his flaws, although I don’t think he has any he might be standoff-ish with me, but I can’t help but see how he interacts with the other guys, the crew, the fans during a show or in general, and his family when they come to some of the shows.

He always gives anyone he’s talking to his full attention sometimes looking like a puppy while doing so but it’s endearing. It shows he cares even if what you're talking about isn’t all that important. I can’t help that when he does his makeup how beautiful he looks and the look of being alive and doing what he loves while he's on stage makes me feel like I’m in the presence of an angel. Suddenly getting caught off guard from my thoughts by the man himself. When he abruptly stands up pushing the chair he was generally sitting on while cleaning up his makeup. I back up not out of fright but more out of shock looking around for a moment noticing all the guys are not in the room anymore.

The look of confusion crossed my faces wondering when they left, but before I could get too far in my wondering, Luke asked, “Are you going to be on the side of the stage for this show?” Even more confused, I answer in an unsure tone.” umm… I guess?” It sounded like more of a question than I intended. I tried to recover from it.” I was going to get the schedule for our next stop situated during this show so I wasn’t planning on it but if you want, I can just do it after the show.” Not even a second passed before he answered me,” Can you do it after the show? It will be easier if you were by the stage tonight.”  I stare at him for a moment, questions in my head that I’ll never asks run through it before I ponder any longer on them though I see that he’s waiting for an answer looking almost nervous but I see on the wall clock that he has to be on stage in 2 minutes so leaving my questions in my head I answer him,” Yeah I'll be there on Cals side.” Without anything more said between us he leaves the dressing room leaving me with nothing but his presence and the questions in my head left unanswered.

By the time I composed myself in the dressing room and went to my designated spot on the side of the stage on Cal's side, the boys were already on their third song. When I got there, I was handed an earwig from one of the workers on tour so I can hear the tech crew and everyone else if there's a problem that needs to be fixed. Getting a weird look from the crew around me made me self-conscious, questioning why everyone was giving me that look on top of the questions I have from my discussion with Luke.

Putting all my focus back onto the show, I see that instead of Luke having his talking part first like usual it’s Michael who is doing his. Confused, I turned to the closest person on the crew besides me and asked,” Why is Michael doing his talking portion at this moment and why was I not informed by this?” The crewmate looked nervous when I asked, not knowing if it’s because there scared on losing their job or something else, I try to clarify more for them trying to ease their nervousness," I’m just asking because any new changes need to be made through me, you're not losing your job and I’m not mad I’m just wondering why this decision was made without at least talking to me.”

Seeing their nerves not lessening, but answering anyway in a rushed stutter manner,” The guys asked for this request and said not to tell you.” Turning towards them like they had a second head I see the crewmate walking briskly away stopping where a bunch of the other people apart from the crew where and talking heavily with them before they all stopped once they saw I was looking over them. Why is everyone being secretive about something and why did no one tell me about the last-minute change on the show.

I questioned myself, getting madder by the second once I saw that even more people were looking at me. Staring ahead after I get tired of the stares that are burning holes into my head every passing second, I try to focus on the show making sure it goes off without a hitch. Even though I see that each of the guys are going in a different order for their talking portions than what we’ve planned in the start of the tour, I see that after Michaels talking portion and a few songs, Ashton went next for his talking portion.

Why are they going in a different order than the one we picked even when there's a different order Luke always goes first so it’s easier on the guys and the crew to switch out guitars. Why did the guys not tell me about this or Luke when we were talking in the dressing room earlier. They clearly knew it was happening from what I’m seeing on stage and what the crewmate told me when I asked about it. Worrying even more, questions ran through my head that I was going to ask the boys once the shows were done. I didn't realize how much time went by with all of my worrying.

Until I heard Luke doing his talking portion missing all of Cal’s one, I tried to pay attention pushing the worry and questions till after the show. I hear Luke make a nervous laugh continuing the nervous streak while talking like he did with me earlier in the dressing room,” I know that you all have realized that we're doing things in a different order on this show and that is because… I have something special I'm going to do for this show.” he laughs at the end when he hears the fans screaming at the top of their lungs. “As I know how exciting this is. I need you guys to do me a favor. Can you do that?” 

He questions the fans in an exciting tone, the nerves still blatantly present though how much he’s trying to hide it from the fans covering some of it up. I've spent enough time with these guys to see all of their tell-tell signs. Coming back from the fans screaming yes. Luke laughs again, "okay, good so for our last and final song I would like you all to please be courteous because I'm going to be bringing someone out for this song and I would love it if you all sing along with me.”

Drowning out all the exciting screams from the fans I grab the closest crewmate to me,” What is he talking about bringing someone on stage?” I asked hurriedly. When I don’t get an answer from them, I hear Luke start to talk again this time with an almost desperate tone that you wouldn’t have catched if you didn’t know him well.” Now can I please get are ever so brilliant tour manager on stage please.”

Looking confused I see Cal walking towards where I am on the side of the stage walking towards him in an almost run. When I reached him, I asked in a hurried manner,” What the hell is going on?” looking down at me he says in a calm tone,” Everything is going to be explained but you just have to trust me and go on stage please.” Looking into his eyes, seeing them have a pleading look, I slowly nod my head.

Walking with Cal on stage was the most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever done. My admiration for the boys is growing. When we met Luke in the middle of the stage all the fans were screaming. Blocking them out I turned to Luke asking what I’ve been dying to ask him this whole evening. "What the hell are you doing and what the hell am I supposed to do up here?” Giving Luke my must baffled look and all I get in return is him saying, "Just please listen to the lyrics it will explain everything I promise and all you have to do is stand here looking beautiful.”

Before I can question him anymore, I see him giving a nod to the other boys, and next thing I know I’m hearing the strums of Cal's bass and Lukes's voice combining into their song Flatline. Hearing it before and loving it like any other song they release. I still don’t understand why I'm out here in front of 10,000 fans until Luke turns towards me walking, chest to chest singing the chorus of the song looking nowhere but my eyes, and all I can do is be hypnotized.

Not once looking away from him even when everything clicked into place. He likes me, that's why he has been acting the way he has. The man who made me hypnotized in every sense likes me, and I've never noticed. Without thinking I lean up to his face, wrapping both of my arms around his neck, my hands reaching into his beautiful blonde hair, curling my fingertips into the curly pieces I move his head down to my own. Looking into his eyes for permission but instead of him giving me one he grabs my hips and crashes his lips against mine. The kiss felt nothing like I’ve ever had before, like everything was aligned. Breaking apart when the fans' screams reached a new level, I looked into his eyes with the brightest smile on my face, “I fell the first day I met you.”

-- Cove is not a cleaner, not because he wants to be a messy guy, but he just doesn't think about it. Maybe just talk about a routine, a division of household responsibilities, that sort of thing and he'll be all over it.

-- Like I'm not saying to make a chore chart for him where he gets gold stars for doing his chores and after so many gold stars he can get treats like a pretzel down on the shopping street or a trip to the aquarium (that one is gonna be a lot of stars) but whatever works!

-- I def know I've said this multiple times, but Derek is Mr. Fix-It. If he doesn't know how to fix something (rare), he will figure it out and then he will know forever.

-- This is so serious, like if you end up buying a house and you mention that it might be nice to have like a sunroom or a playroom built onto the back of the house for kids or whatever, the guy is going to learn how to build a whole entire room. Putting up walls, putting down floors, other ... room stuff. It'll be a big project, obviously, but he'll get it done.

-- Imagine going outside and seeing him up on a ladder, banging a hammer against something all sweaty and concentrating hard. Or like imagine respectfully.

-- Baxter also has some expensive candles. So expensive that you're kind of taken aback (they are all just wax, where does they money go), but the place DOES always smell really nice. He has seasonal ones he rotates, then some general favorites that work anytime.

-- If you try to light one of the pumpkin-y candles after December starts, he will treat you like you are actually insane.

-- Dance parties with Cove! We always talk about dancing with Baxter, but sometimes you and Cove just have a good time, putting on those songs that were popular when you were kids and being silly. This is really very cute.

-- Cove can't cook, but he goes through a phase where he tries real hard! Please be nice, but if you cannot safely eat something, then you don't have to (this is going to happen at least once or twice).

You're going to have to pull him back inside, it's not safe out there.

This song is heard when Crowley is going back to Aziraphale in season 2 after he found out about the book of life erasing thing. After listening to this song I have to say. THIS IS AMAZING. obviously the song is good its queen.

Crowley's songs are always queen songs and given the title and given Aziraphales regular dress and general pop culture knowledge i think we know who the “good old fashioned lover boy” is.

This is obviously a romance song but similarly to “A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square.” the lyrics fit their relationship so nicely!!! (as well as being an absolute bop. LISTEN TO THIS GODDAMN SONG. i like the part at 1:44. so cheery!!!)(also this is why Neil Gaimen is AWESOME such small details in the fucking SONG a fucking BENTLEY plays.)(its like 1:09am and im still up after not getting sleep last night and prob none today so ima go on tangents like this hehe)

like come on man. “Dining at the Ritz” its Aziracrows THING. their whole routine is dine at the ritz, Aziraphale eats and crowley drinks copious amounts of alcohol, Crowley is always seen paying the bill (or doing something of the sort), they drive in a cool fucking bentley (with a James Bond bullet hole window screen insert), and they go back to Aziraphales bookshop. and the “that'd be fine” matches Aziraphales general attitude when inviting Crowley back to his place in the 1st season and in older flashbacks. Now thats the most obvious. there are many other examples of lyrics that very conveniently match to them.

throughout history when Aziraphale and Crowley met up they did favors. whether it be making Hamlet successful, performing magic on the west end stage, getting holy water (“You go too fast for me Crowley.”YOU MF AZIRAPHALE WHYYYY) or magicing away some paint on a very old well kept jacket. they always do things like this for each other. focusing solely on Crowley's perspective he, throughout history, has always been the one to accept Aziraphales requests with little to no complaints. (until Armageddon i suppose)

even in season 2 he lets Aziraphale use his bentley. Although there is some bickering there, he still lets it happen. He doesn't sell books while Aziraphale is away and he even carries them around (the sleeve garters are a whole other thing in this scene)

now realistically the “good old fashioned lover boy” is, im sure, referring to both of them. also the song just feels gay. just listen to it. its gay. i swear.

Now. not saying it matches perfectly. obviously it doesn't but even the GO fandom links the two pieces of media on occasion(see second link). they are inexplicably connected, whether its false pattern recognition (i have currently forgotten the proper term for that. T-T) or intended by mr gaiman i think its so intriguing that the songs picked to play fit so nicely into the deeper narrative. this. is good media

Essentially means smooth talking on the phone. Which you have to admit Crowley does to Aziraphale quite often. And Aziraphale writes letters. honestly its cute. specially im thinking of season 1 when Aziraphale is writing a note to Crowley while they are on the phone. its later in the season in the last ditch rush to stop the antichrist.

I used the bit of lyrics that fit them the best in the beginning of the rant. and time for my least convincing point. the vibe just fits them so well. the slightly old school beat with simple romantic lyrics. Its not anything overtly sexual. just the simplicities of romance. IT FUCKING FITTSSS!!!!

He enjoys indulging in softer things with you once you've reached that stage (sleeping snuggled together, reading together, coming up with new strategies.) All that stuff.

He’ll also train you (if you don’t have the skills already) and sparr with you regularly. You tend to be on the move a fair bit too, so road-trip shenanigans will ensue and you will piss each other off somehow.

B = Beauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

He inherently finds you attractive if he gives you more than a second glance period, but competence is something he finds most attractive in general. Any one who can hold their own in a fight or prove themselves resourceful and able to keep their cool during conflict is going to peak his curiosity.

Whether he becomes romantically interested in you outside of your initial appeal depends on your personality out of battle.

C = Comfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

Not well. Eric is not good at emotions that inherently have to do with vulnerability. At first he’s likely to ignore you or tell you to get your head on straight or some shit so he won’t be much help.

Now if you're having something like a panic attack or if you’ve gone hysterical or something he won’t just leave you out to dry. He’ll be gruff and awkward about it but he’ll put in some effort to calm you down. Stressing that he’s got your back will definitely be his go to, but explaining the logistics of your situation will also be something he gravitates towards: how far off the grid you are, the uv lights littering the hideout, etc.

D = Dreams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

On principle Eric doesn’t let himself get distracted by whimsical thoughts like that. He’s fighting a seemingly endless war and thinking about a future that likely won’t happen and won't do anything but get him killed is useless in his opinion.

In general Eric just cherishes the time he does have with you. At most when you're resting and he has the chance to just hold you he’ll think about staying with you like this forever. Not being in danger ever again, not the vampiric kind at least.

E = Equal - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

Eric’s the dominant one, no argument. Both his personality and profession don’t allow him comfort in not being in explicit control of his situation.

That being said, if he trusts you he will allocate some of the responsibility to you. You’re his partner in and off the field and likely have a dominant personality as well that compliments his own. You’re two different types of dominant and balance one another out.

F = Flight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

No. It doesn’t even matter if it’s a small thing that’s not even really a secret but just personal, he’ll be in his feelings about it.

Earning his trust is no easy feat and anytime you break it Eric will take it personally, but smaller offenses he will undoubtedly get over himself about eventually.

Now anything big is a whole other story. You're secretly a mole? He’ll kill you and it’ll be vicious even if a part of him will always mourn what you once had.

G = Gratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

Eric is big headed. Without active prompting from someone else, like Whistler, or the sudden absence of your help he’ll mostly overlook your contributions.

It’d have to take something/someone shoving how good you are for him in his face for him to appreciate you outside of grunts of thanks and rushed requests.

Even romantically he’ll insist he doesn’t need you, that he’s not attached. It pisses you off like nothing else and his denial will grate on you to the point of an argument at some point. He’ll have to be honest with himself eventually though, and do a hell of a lot to make it up to you and show you that he values your relationship too.

H = Honesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

He inherently doesn’t like telling anyone about his mother and her death and so finding out about that will take him being real comfortable with his s/o. His mother having been turned successfully, not being dead, and leaving him out to dry as a kid/trying to kill him will be a secret he keeps even closer to his chest.

Other than that he’ll hide small things from you if he feels he can handle a situation on his own. Things like if someone is following you or he was confronted by an enemy are things that will only come out if his leg is pulled.

I = Inspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helping them overcome personal problems?

100% Eric is way more personable with you in his life. Doesn’t matter if you’ve also got a gruff personality, the fact that he’s talking to someone else positively at all is enough to improve his communication skills.

Him loving you and being able to admit that is also a way you change him. He becomes way better at handling intimacy with you at his side.

If you’re less battle oriented or meek he’ll help with that definitely. At first he’s too forceful but eventually he’ll get the gist of teaching you with things like positive reassurance and cooperation.

J = Jealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

Eric is more possessive than he is jealous. He’s used to the good things in his life being taken away from him and is very protective of you.

He doesn’t get jealous mostly because he’d have to think anyone could be better than him at something, for starters, and jealousy can’t happen at all unless you manage to form a close personal connection with someone else.

Even then once he’s learned to trust you at your own reassurance he’ll take you at your word completely that you only have eyes for him.

I guess it's concern trolling but according to these stans criteria of success ("prestige", awards. filmography) he's nobody and apparently isn't anyone's competition so why discuss him and his career choices at all? they don't rate spiderman highly and don't want their faves to do those kinds of projects so why have any feelings about someone they don't like doing it? I'm just confused at where the energy comes from when it comes to him cause he does not do anything and really isn't anywhere. He's one of the most low key young celebrities I've seen. I guess it's just hater shit but as someone who also has celebs I don't like, I would never discuss them to the extent they do him.

Klaus and Elijah are definitely my favorites out of all the Mikaelsons, but I do love Rebekah a lot too! Freya, Finn, and Kol are further down the list, in that order. I love my murder children, but I’m not their mother—I’m not obligated to love them all equally!

I think the main appeal of Klaus and Elijah for me is simply their intensity. They’re the first originals we meet in tvd, and before we even see them together onscreen we can tell they have a fraught, complicated history—yet there’s love there too.

The flashbacks to the 15th century as they prepare to sacrifice Katherine? Klaus laughing about their silly ploys throughout history, while Elijah gazes lovingly over his shoulder? Bliss. I swoon. And the scene in present day, after Klaus has broken the curse and has just transformed back into a human? Elijah, the previous night (or however long ago) was prepared to kill him. Had his hand in his heart and everything. Yet now here he is, helping Klaus dress like some kind of butler—someone who’s been there for him like this time and again.

I go similarly insane about the flashbacks to the 1920s, in which Klaus has to explicitly tell the audience that Rebekah is his sister and not, you know, his girlfriend. But they do undercut this slightly with Rebekah immediately jumping on Stefan and, while I approve, climb that ripper tree, it does take away from her psychotic, erotic bond with Klaus.

And that’s just in tvd! That’s only setting the stage for TO! In TO, Klaus and Elijah’s bond is ramped up to main character status. Elijah is simultaneously Klaus’s brother-associate, his overbearing, cautioning father figure, and the lover with whom he has frequent spats and reconciliations. Klaus is having a baby? No, Elijah says, we’re having a baby! And inserts himself into this pregnancy situation with Hayley, and no one questions it.

(Klaus and Rebekah’s relationship also gets some amazing moments in s1 of TO, and for the first time Rebekah and Elijah’s relationship gets to shine too! But alas, after some of the best episodes of the entire show—episodes 1x14-16—Rebekah departs, so we get to see less of her with her siblings, and Klelijah continues to take center stage.)

I could detail every single thing I love about Klelijah’s relationship, their ups and downs, their tragedy and their comedy—and I might come back later and add on, if I feel like it!—but yeah, that’s my draw to these two. Canon is so generous with them, and I simply go crazy for it!

Not to mention—the actors’ chemistry had a huge hand in all this. They bounce off each other so well, and their mannerisms are so different yet both so old at the same time. You really believe they’ve known each other for a thousand years, and any fight that they have is mere window dressing to the centuries they’ve stood shoulder to shoulder.

And not only that! But! (⚠️Spoilers for the end of TO, if anyone still cares about that⚠️) The show rewards me and lets them die together. Klaus makes the ultimate sacrifice for his daughter, and Elijah’s like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ guess I’ll die too, and follows him into oblivion for no other reason than he wanted to. Ah yes, a very normal brotherly relationship. (I’m going FERAL just thinking about it again!)

Truly I have not been normal about them since 2018, and that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon. I will keep repeating myself in posts like these until…either the whole world understands the brilliance of TO, or until I die. Whichever comes first.

Don’t know why but anytime Anna posts on Twitter her little quotes of her and Michael I just immediately cringe. Your telling me she didn’t know from the start she’d be in Staged? Like it was a last minute impulse decision to put her in it like we didn’t know from the start that she probably weaseled her way into the show because she was in the house with Michael when he’s filming and she had forced her way in. PUH-LEASE!! Like girl if your going to be lying in your tweets at least make them believable. I don’t think anyone who saw that tweet and knows who she really is and how she acts believes for a second that she didn’t know she was on the show. Another thing too, she just has to keep mentioning that she was on the show. Like girl if she didn’t keep talking about it every second of every day we wouldn’t have noticed you honestly. That’s how invisible and plain you really are. She just blends into the background and putting her in with David and Michael in the promo pics in staged 3 was definitely a choice that wasn’t executed as good as she had hoped cause she immediately blends in with the background and all I see are the two guys and not her. Literally why she’s called APAT. She’s plain and tall those are her only discernible qualities

It's the funniest (though not "ha ha" funny) thing, too--in my post earlier, one person mentioned how AL only posts pictures with her and Michael/none of David, and I specifically talked about her posting the same recycled pictures in her Insta posts promoting Staged...and then only a few hours later, she made this post on Insta with the same exact pictures. And sure enough, one of them was the promo picture you just mentioned:

I agree with your assessment, Anon: My focus also went to David and Michael, and AL immediately faded into the background. Part of this could be because of the forced perspective of the picture--i.e., AL looking farther away from the boys than she actually is because of how the picture was shot. But I think it's mainly due to her lack of presence--mainly in the third season of Staged overall, in which she not only had less screen time than Georgia, but less screen time than in the first two seasons of the show altogether--as well as her lack of on screen "presence" in general.

(I did have to laugh at her caption on Insta referring to her, David, and Michael as a "detective trio" in this picture--maybe a reference to Crowley/Aziraphale/Muriel?--but completely off base and rather ludicrous here. Also, interestingly enough, The Telegraph chose to use this picture of all things in their negative review of Staged 3...)

Turning to the Twitter comments you mentioned, here is the exchange that the Anon is talking about (between AL and Simon), for those who might not've seen it:

Obviously this is deeply cringey, but in the interest of accuracy, I think it's important to note that Michael/AL/David/Georgia did an interview about Staged in Radio Times in 2021, and if what was said there is true, it does appear that it actually was a last-minute decision to cast her in the show:

With that said, however, it's also possible that two things can be true: 1) That AL knew a pilot was going to be filmed and tried to passive-aggressively push her way into being in it; and 2) That she actually didn't know she was in it until the last minute.

From my perspective, it's actually worse that she was cast in it so last minute. Because either Michael didn't consult with her/confide in her about the show at all until he had to, or he resigned himself to her being in it purely out of "practicality." It makes it look as if it wasn't that Anna was the best person for the show or that Michael or anyone was excited or thrilled to be working with her--it was that she was just there. So if AL was lying, you'd think she would've come up with something that makes her and/or her and Michael's relationship look a lot better than it does.

And it does appear that AL seems to talk incessantly about Staged in an effort to emphasize/remind us that she is actually in it. I don't know if anyone remembers the TV show Married...With Children, but it reminds me a great deal of Al Bundy scoring four touchdowns in one game of (American) football and spending the next several decades talking about his "glory days" in high school. I don't think anyone is saying AL can't promote a show that she was in, but it's the very fact of needing to remind everyone by repeatedly posting the same pictures and interjecting the same types of comments on Twitter that makes it start to become obnoxious.

(Also, we've seen Simon compliment Michael/David/Georgia's acting in certain scenes, something they brought to a particular moment in the show, and yet in his response to AL he chose to compliment...the charcuterie board. Make of that what you will...)

So yes, hopefully this helps to straighten out a few things, but as I said above, I agree with pretty much everything you've written here, Anon. Thanks for writing in and sharing your thoughts! x

Going on anon because I’ll get flamed for my opinions but replaying Gen 5 sucks

The story drags, pokemon locations are stupid (seriously why is deino only in VICTORY ROAD), you’ll be underleveled for the most part unless you want to Audino grind, and (my most controversial take) I really don’t like BW Bianca and Cheren. N’s alright but since everyone goes “we have different viewpoints :)” anytime N tries to challenge the status quo it’s grating after a while

Somehow I had more fun replaying X than Black, and I’m sure if I said that on Twitter I’d be killed on sight

Also why did the shadow triad walk us across that straight line bridge in chargestone cave and not instead walk us towards the exit, I was so lost and on low hp trying to get out

On the point of Cheren and Bianca...I liked them well enough because of when I first played, but replaying they are a lot less compelling. A lot of their dialogue is repetitive and focused on the same beats. Cheren is just "What is the meaning of my strength?" over and over, while Bianca does absolutely nothing but hang back wondering about what she should be doing. It takes the second game for them to truly complete their arc. I can't say they're my favorite. My hot take is I don't think N is that compelling. My wife and I talk a lot about modern games (Galar and Paldea) doing this annoying thing where you're a special person who just shitstomps everyone else's dreams for your personal whims (Hop, Marnie, Kieran), and I feel like Gen 5 is where that really started happening thanks to N. The player is instantly imbued with a sense of being special and superior, because only your Pokemon seems to be super happy enough for N to question what he believes. His response to this is then to seek you out but also act like any refusal you have to his call is a personal affront. He gets kinda nasty about you saying No to any of his questions and probes. And again, the whole situation could be an interesting ethical dilemma, but the game doesn't want to contend with it so anyone who believes the system could have a flaw is just completely out of their minds.

That said, I actually want to talk about the Deino thing because that touches on a fun mechanical thing within the games.

Deino, as a pseudo-legend, is interesting to the point of being downright unique. Its appearance isn't atypical; fully half of pseudo-legends are post-game exclusive. Larvitar is supremely late game, and Beldum only shows up in time for the superboss fight with Steven in Emerald, otherwise it has nothing to do. Bagon shows up only after you've cleared the gyms, it's later than your Legendary. Dratini and Gible are the odd ones out. Dratini can be found halfway through your gym challenge in the Safari Zone if you know where to look and are willing to deal with Safari Zone catch rates. It's earlier access, but harder to complete. Gible can be found after only two gyms, but in a missable location that is visually impossible to identify, but comes with Gabite in Victory Road as compensation if you missed it.

Deino continues the general trend of being just a late availability Pokemon, but loses Gible's early access opportunity. This in itself isn't too atypical. No, what makes Deino fascinating is that it sucks.

Take a look at the performance of the prior pseudo-legends. The the early RBY days, if you found Dratini, you had access to a Pokemon that gets its first evolution kinda early, and can learn Fire, Water, Ice, and Electric coverage, giving it tools that let it handle the majority of the League just fine. In GSC, Larvitar shows up super late, but if you get one and put in the work to evolve (and better, learn Crunch and Earthquake as Larvitar first), Tyranitar blanks fully half of Red's team. In RSE, Bagon shows up late, but if you stall evolution a bit for Crunch and teach it Brick Break, a level 50 final stage is perfectly achievable, and has options to beat the entire E4. With Earthquake you beat Steven, although Wallace is a lot more of a problem. Metagross only shows up post-game, but in Emerald its Steel typing does make it a good response to much of Steven's own team, because he can't really hurt it. In DPPt, Gible's early access room comes with the Earthquake TM, allowing you to set up a monster right away that never really slows down, and with Flamethrower and access to Crunch, answers 3 members of the League independently.

Then there's Hydreigon. As Deino, it offers only Crunch. Dragon Rush is too inaccurate with Hustle to hit anything, and Body Slam offers nothing for coverage. Reusable TMs mean all the cool options aren't available, not that Zweilous can learn any of it. And Zweilous evolves at 50, a level where it wouldn't be unexpected that your team can already beat the League before it evolves once. If you do put in that work, Zweilous...actually goes through the best part of its life, because it can take down Caitlin and Shauntal, provided attacks actually connect. Then you have the long haul of postgame level scaling, trying to get it to beat things way bigger than it through low speed, poor bulk, and Hustle, to arrive at Hydreigon. Who doesn't even learn Dark Pulse naturally, and whose coverage options do not substantially change its matchups. And also because Caitlin and Shauntal are bulky it can't OHKO anything and their coverage is actually good (Golurk will one-shot with Hammer Arm, Musharna has Reflect and Reuniclus can obliterate with Focus Blast). Hydreigon, uniquely, does not contribute much.

I find this interesting as a pivot in game structure. I do think the games are designed with intent for the most part, and Gen 5 feels like a step away from the idea that the big statistical monsters are the most important. I assume this was intentional because Volcarona suffers the same fate, getting a useful Quiver Dance and Heat Wave by 60, but having the same "pre-evo is functionally useless all its life, and doesn't get the other good moves it wants until way later if at all." Bug Buzz at 70 is like GSC Heracross: yeah it's a great move, too bad I'll never reach that level to get it. And despite having Psychic, Marshal has so much Rock coverage it won't get anywhere. Caitlin and Shauntal were handled better by Beheeyem's bulky Calm Mind set, and Marshal was handled best by a +Def nature Rocky Helmet Durant. Which is weird compared to the usual pseudo-legend approach. It makes them feel like a lot more work for a lot less reward.

this chapter was interesting to write bc my number One rule with writing rainduo is that they have to feel comfortable with each other. like they don't always talk about everything on their minds with each other (wilbur certainly doesn't) but conversation flows easily between them in a way that it often doesn't with others. so it was interesting to write that as they've Just Met. the slip between pleasantries and actual conversation kind of happens without either of them noticing, until niki comes back out later in the evening and they just decide to. keep talking

i don't know about interesting per se but niki's general dissatisfaction with her job, where she lives, etc is very propelled by how she lacks a feeling of community and camaraderie with people in this place, given that searching for and desperately needing community is very much her Thing in canon imo. while niki is probably not gonna get any awards for bartending anytime soon she's pretty stubborn and would probably be fine if she felt even 0.1% supported in that environment or had maybe two friends. taking a stack and dropping a glass would be a Non-Issue if she wasn't feeling struck by the I Am So Lonely No One Cares About Me No One Here Cares About Anyone Else type feeling, letting herself spiral over something that really doesn't matter, because she doesn't feel she has anything that does matter in her life to fill the space. it makes her bitter and quicker to judge people and tbh kind of makes her Worse. unfortunately she is currently sitting at zero friends. she's in that stage of just-moved-out young adult (adjusted for minecraft somewhat fantasy setting) where she's still trying to figure out how to build those kinds of connections properly. also maybe proper staffing at work would be nice too. so when she and wilbur kind of just click it's like Okay this is my new best friend

something about that Rainduo Are On The Same Wavelength thing is also there when she and wilbur are talking about where they're from - niki definitely knows there's kind of more to what wilbur's saying about smp earth than he's letting on, especially given that he obviously has a rich coat and a nice guitar, but she instinctively lets that slide when wilbur even slightly implies that he's not really willing to Go There in this conversation. that is a piece of knowledge she's not ever gonna voice but it is tucked away for later

also the bit on wilbur's music. he's very much a showboater even if he hasn't gotten into politics at this point so it's one thing for people to talk to him then, but niki chooses to go on over and talk to him about music instead (even when he has kind of been a bit of a dog this evening). that's what he's sensitive abouttt. they have the loud conversation in the bar and the quiet conversation outside. she asks for her stolen shit back thanks but sits and stays to listen. and so on

oh i don't know if it's blatantly obvious or not but wilbur 100% gave schlatt the shitty cocktail and took the wine for himself. best friend no 1 👆👆👆👆

finally there's kind of an early vibe of sweaterduo where the two of them work together obvi and are best friends but there's still a bit of a distance between them. they trust each other 100% in a practical sense but when one of them needs help they are far too proud to accept that help from the other. so instead wilbur sits around the corner and plucks out some notes on his guitar (not saying he's immune from this btw he 100% does the same thing). i'm sure this won't cause problems later. i'm sure niki won't cause problems with this later

i don't know how much of this is actually interesting versus what is just rambling but yeah. much fun to be had
