“No, like.... I just can’t believe you’re actually wearing MY clothes.” -Virgil (I want someone to wear my son’s hoodie :> )
I did my best! I could have gone more romantic with it… but this popped into my head and I liked it :)
No pairings, just a funny moment I guess?
“Has anyone seen Virgil?” Patton asked, walking into the common room. Without looking up from his newspaper, Logan replied.
“I believe he is assisting Thomas today, we probably won’t see him until after dinner.” Patton’s shoulders slumped down in sadness.
“Aww…” sadly escaped his lips as he plopped down next to the logical side on the couch.
“Did you need assistance with something?” Logan inquired, wondering what the source of Patton’s sadness was.
“Oh no, I just like spending time with the little guy.” He admitted, shrugging and chuckling.
“Little guy? Patton he is the largest of all of us.” Logan reminded the fatherly figure.
Before Patton could explain himself, Roman sashayed his way into the living room.
“Greetings! What are the goings on in here?” He asked loudly.
“Patton seems to missing Virgil.” Logan stated plainly.
“Oh? And where has our little Para-morose gotten to?” Roman asked, his eyes scanning the room as if he would spot their delightful emo hiding behind a chair.
“He will be assisting Thomas for what is more than likely the rest of the day.” Logan explained once again
.“Well that just won’t do! If our lovely Padre over here is missing his favorite All-American Reject, we can’t just let him be forlorn! I have a plan!” He exclaimed loudly. Patton perked up immediately.
“What do you have in mind, Roman?” Patton asked eagerly.
“Simple, watch!”
Roman spun around and when he faced them again, he was dressed just like Virgil. Seeing as they were all essentially the same, his impression was quite good. Not perfect, as Virgil was the thinnest of them all and Roman was the only one of them with defined muscle tone. The skinny jeans didn’t look quite right on him, but at a glance, he would definitely pass as Virgil. Well, besides the fact that Roman consistently has his chest puffed out and his overall demeanor just looked… incorrect for the anxious side.
“Ah! Roman you look so much like Virgil!” Patton beamed, looking over at the regal side. Logan scoffed lightly.
“Firstly, Roman, you may have the outfit correct but I would think a thespian such as your self would realize you would have to change your mannerisms greatly if you wanted to pass as Anxiety. Secondly, how is this going to make Patton feel any better? Virgil is no closer to being here.” Logan explained, standing to look over Roman more closely. Now it was Roman who scoffed.
“Oh you think it’s so easy? Why don’t you show me how its done then, undergrad-uated cylinder?” Roman cast a hand at Logan and suddenly he was dressed in the all black outfit Anxiety chose when he first began appearing in Thomas’s videos.“Didn’t we all agree we weren’t going to change anyone who didn’t want to be changed?” Logan stated, his hand rising to his temple.
“Oh Logan! You look just like Virgil!!” Patton squealed in excitement. It was true, Logan was the next thinnest after Virgil and he was the closest in size to Thomas. So while he didn’t look as out of place as Roman did, he was a decent percent shorter than Virgil was. Although the lack of emotion on his face did help with his portrayal.
Patton was bouncing on his toes now, this was just so cute. Two of his favorite people dressed as his other favorite person. Ignoring the fact that the two of them were now bickering over correctly acting like Virgil, of course. Patton suddenly interjected.
“Roman!!!” He squealed, causing both of the pseudo-Virgils to stop arguing and look at him.
“My turn! I wanna be Virgil too!” Roman paused a moment before casting a hand toward Patton with a smirk.
Patton was a Virgil that had never been caught on camera. Teenage Anxiety. His hair was so long in the front that Patton probably couldn’t see, he wore the same ripped black skinny jeans that the other two did, but his shirt was a ripped and faded MCR concert tee and he wore a thin black choker around his neck.
“Aww… look at me! Teen Virgil!” He was beaming which looked entirely confusing for the character, but Patton and Virgil were the least physically similar anyway. Patton was the shortest one around, but he was also the one who had the thickest thighs and most bountiful backside. The skinny jeans, while in actuality looked very nice on his more ample lower half, didn’t come across at all like the Tim Burton-esque anxious trait.
It was only a moment of peace before Virgil-Roman and Virgil-Logan went back to bickering and Patton simply decided to make a game of flipping his bangs up and down. This went on for a few minutes before the sound of Virgil appearing made them all freeze in their tracks. He and Thomas both appeared in the mindscape, Thomas still looking at Virgil.
“Hey guys, we thought we’d get your input on-“ he stopped mid sentence when he saw Virgil’s eyes go wide and scan the room. They were all silent as Thomas and Virgil tried to make sense of the scene around them.
“What.” Was all Virgil could manage.
“We can explain!” came Teen Angst-Patton, his bangs obstructing almost all of his face.
“Correct! You see, Patton was missing you and then Roman decided to-“ Anxiety version 1-Logan began attempting to explain but was cut off.
“Dont pin this all on me, Calculator Watch!” Purple and Black-Roman chimed in, resuming the bickering between himself and the normally tie-clad trait.
Thomas and Virgil watched the scene unfold, Patton in the background mumbling rapidly and incoherently about hoping Virgil wasn’t angry with them.
“Guys! Stop!” Suddenly came the real Virgil’s voice. They all looked fearfully at the dark trait, worried he would be upset. But just the opposite, he began to laugh. They had never heard him laugh so hard or so honestly ever before. It was a deep belly laugh that was infectious to the point that they all joined in after a moment, all of them with tears in their eyes. When the laughter finally died down, Patton chimed in once more.
“So… You aren’t mad?”
“No, like… I just can’t believe you’re actually wearing MY clothes. You all look… ridiculous.” He chuckled.

Album Review by Bradley Christensen Hey Violet – From The Outside Record Label: 5Mode / Capitol Records Release Date: June 16 2017
Every year, there seems to be some band that captures what it’s like to be an emo, scene, or “alternative” kid in high school. I mean, we’ve always those bands, such as Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, and My Chemical Romance, but a lot of new ones are popping up. I mean, Twenty One Pilots got really popular about few years ago, and then we had Melanie Martinez pop up, too, but this year’s popular alt-pop band seems to be Hey Violet, formerly called Cherri Bomb. I’ve only vaguely heard of the former band, and I had no idea that the latter band existed until I read about Hey Violet, but I’ve been waiting for this band to release a debut record. I haven’t heard much from them, but I did listen to the single “Brand New Moves” when that came out a year or two ago. I thought it was a quirky, fun, and energetic alt-pop / indie-pop track that a bit clever in its lyrics. The music and vocals were nothing special, definitely sounding like Lorde and Melanie Martinez, you know, that whole “pop for weirdos and outcasts” kind of thing, but the lyrics were essentially about how the narrator broke up with this guy, and in the time since they’ve been broken up, she’s learned some “brand new moves,” which could be a double entendre. I’ll leave it up to you to figure out what that could be, but it was a bit clever, and since their sound was catchy and slick, I thought there could be some potential with this group. I didn’t even know they were releasing their debut LP, From The Outside, just a few days back. When I saw it at Best Buy, coincidentally when it came out, I thought I’d check it out, because why not, right? I had a couple more new releases that I listened to earlier in the morning, and I thought it would be interesting to listen to this LP, at least out of curiosity.
I had no idea what to expect with From The Outside, but after listening to it a few times, the album’s not a bad one. I’m essentially grading this LP on a curve, though, because you have to look at it for what it is. This LP is nothing like the punk albums I’ve been into lately, because it’s something different. This is an alternative-pop record that kids in high school or middle school would enjoy, and if you’re into Twenty One Pilots, Melanie Martinez, and all that alt-pop / indie-pop kind of stuff, especially the kind of pop music that would be played in Hot Topic, you’ll enjoy this. I feel like this is made for 13 – 17-year-olds, especially those “outcasts,” not really anyone else. There’s definitely a specific demographic that this LP is trying to appeal to, which is totally fine. In that respect, I have to look at this LP from two angles: the angle of the demographic that would enjoy this, as well as everyone else, because there’s a good chance that many people will not like this, especially those outside of their target audience. Looking at this from the angle of its target demographic, the 13 – 17-year-old “outcasts” that wear all black, go on Tumblr, write fanfiction, and listen to music that’s played in Hot Topic, I feel like you’ll enjoy this, because this will definitely “speak” to you. Songs like “O.D.D,” “Guys My Age,” “Hoodie,” and “Fuqboi” will speak to you, especially if you’re a teenage girl, but that’s who wrote the lyrics on this record. These songs are not only easily relatable to kids today, but they’re also more catered to the “outcast” crowd.
That’s fine, though, because we need music like that. Hell, I listened to Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance for the same reason, and these types of bands are what teenagers today can relate to. I can totally understand disliking this LP, though, and I’ll talk about that in a second, but if you’re hating this record solely for it being pandering and relatable to teenagers today, you probably listened to Fall Out Boy, Panic, and My Chemical Romance, to feel more “accepted” as an outsider, too. Twenty One Pilots, Melanie Martinez, and now this band, are the Fall Out Boy, Panic, and MCR of today, even though they’re not quite as good. All in all, if you enjoy TOP, and you fit into the target demographic that this band is looking for, you’ll like this band, as well as this LP. You might even love it, but that’s where my actual thoughts come into play, because as a “former emo kid,” this LP is nothing more than “good.” From The Outside isn’t necessarily a consistently good album, as there are some songs I don’t like much, but it’s got some good stuff on it. Looking at this LP from my angle, I respect what it’s doing, as this LP is trying to be that anchor for kids that feel displaced, unaccepted, and weird about themselves, because they don’t know where they fit on. “O.D.D.” is a perfect example of a song that does that, and it’s a song I really like, despite its clichéd lyrics being “in the back of the class; pink hair, but wearing all black.” Yeah, that’s a little cringy, but like I said, I’m not the target audience for this. Another song that proves that I’m not the target audience for this album is “Guys My Age,” and it’s not because it’s written from the female perspective, it’s because it seems like the song is written from the perspective of a teenager.
If anything, it’s the lyrics that are the worst part of this album, but if you “turn your brain off” at them, the music itself isn’t half bad. There are some decent lyrics, though, but you have to look for them. “Brand New Moves” is on this LP, and it’s a song that has lyrics I enjoy, just as like “My Consequence.” It’s a very serious track that talks about the consequences “spilling your guts” with someone, and there’s a clever line in the chorus about how you can put your guts back in when you spill them out. That’s clever, even if it sounds like something I’d write in eighth grade. My personal favorite, at least one of them, is “Fuqboi.” It’s not that I like the lyrics on this song, it’s just funny, because this is the first time I’ve heard a song about the idea of “fuckboys,” you know, the idea of a teenage boy that’s only interested in having sex with a girl. It does get them down pretty well, too, and the bridge serves as a “rallying cry” to rid the world of them. The song doesn’t take itself too seriously, either, but it’s just fun. Like I said, though, if you turn your brain off at the lyrics that are very immature, you can get some good hooks out of it. I mean, lyrics on songs like “Hoodie,” “Break My Heart,” and “Unholy” aren’t very good, but the hooks are slick. I enjoy the vocalist a decent amount on this thing, even though she has a very Lorde and Melanie Martinez-esque delivery. At the end of the day, this record is harmless. It’s not a bad album, but it’s not really a good one, either. I mean, it all depends on who you’re talking to. If you’re in the right demographic, you’ll enjoy it, but if you’re a grownup, especially a grown man, like myself, you won’t like this whatsoever. I’m into pop music, and in that respect, I can enjoy it a bit, but there is far better pop music out there. For instance, I’m listening to Fleetwood Mac as I write this, and they’re one of the ultimate pop-rock groups. You’re not missing anything if you don’t listen to this, but it could have been a lot worse (ahem, One More Light, ahem).
