My mom and I just finished rewatching snk earlier and so I’ve now watched snk, from beginning to end, a grand total of three times and my mom two times. It’s a shame I didn’t think about officially categorizing/compiling some of the episodes/moments into lists after the first time and the second time but here we are. I believe my views/preferences have definitely changed since then, albeit the changes aren’t too dramatic. Anyway I probably just have too much time in my hands lmao

My top 5 most emotional episodes/moments in no particular order:

1. Armin realizing that eren and mikasa didn’t think he was useless and then him trying to convince the soldiers around them that eren wasn’t a threat to humanity

Truly one of the most iconic, most moving parts of the whole show imo. I liked armin so, so much in season 1 and even now my heart still hurts just thinking about the him at the time. He really was the most precious, most promising, sweetest, kindest little thing you’ll ever lay your eyes on. I’m not into any kind of physical contact at all but I just wanted to hug him hold his hand and assure him that everything was going to be alright and that he was doing amazing. Objectively they really only survived because Pyxis arrived just in time, but this doesn’t and shouldn’t diminish the shine of his heart and courage. Season 1 armin will forever remain the best armin for me personally. Absolutely the bestest boy and friend you could ask for.

2. Artur braus: “Sasha…Yer all I hoped for.”

I’ve shed some tears exactly once the entire three times I’ve watched the series but I seriously almost lost it here as well. It was a very, very close call. Sasha is and will forever remain best girl for me and she deserves all of the good the world has to offer.

3. When gabi and falco were screaming their lungs out for Reiner and reiner just kept asking them to be quiet, and then as he transformed again he asked why they wouldn’t just let him die

This one is a bit different. The first time I watched this I didn’t really hurt but I definitely felt a sense of horror. Now I just find it really sad. You can say gabi and falco were trained candidates but specifically in that situation they were just two helpless kids desperately screaming for help and the “help” was ultimately just a guy who had pretty much given up on life because he’d already suffered too much and for too long. It’s insane.

4. When artur braus was talking about how he let Sasha become a soldier not knowing he’d eventually realize that perhaps the world was also just another kind of forest and then after he asked gabi if she was ok and she asked back if he really didn’t hate her kaya came running to kill gabi and Kaya starts screaming and crying after she fails to do so

I had whole-body goosebumps the first time I watched this. Artur and Lisa swallowing their pain and extending their compassion and Kaya struggling with so much anger and sadness were devastating.

5. Levi telling hange to give her heart before she went off to try to slow down the rumbling, her death, and then him telling her to watch over them, and then hange meeting Erwin and the rest

This is the one and only time I’ve ever cried watching the show. I wasn’t ugly sobbing or anything but this really was the heaviest, most painful thing. Exactly after I heard Erwin say “it took off” I lost it. I genuinely don’t think I’ll ever get over hange’s death. Or Erwin’s.

My top 5 best fights/action scenes in no particular order:

1. Sasha freaking fresh graduate braus running down the wall to save Samuel and then shooting the hook of her odm gear into Samuel’s lower calf

This simply isn’t talked about enough. PERSONALLY SASHA IS AND FOREVER WILL BE BEST GIRL.

2. Jean saving Connie and then Marco connie and Annie saving Jean in trost

I really liked the teamwork here and I wish we could’ve seen more of it. Also I’m not like a big fan of Marco or anything but I feel like with some time and experience he could’ve been a good leader too. Or a vice leader. I think it would’ve been interesting to see Jean and Marco work together as commander and vice commander or whatever was next in rank.

3. Everybody working together so that eren could seal the gate with the boulder

This was pretty emotional too.

4. Sasha no odm gear just massive guts and pure skill braus saving kaya

Enough said. Personally still one of the most iconic episodes in the whole gd show.

5. Keith shadis saving surma and rallying and then leading the other cadets, and Jean rallying and leading the soldiers

I absolutely loved that despite his “inferiority complex” or whatever you’d call it Keith is still a soldier and most importantly a leader and a mentor through and through. I loved that even as an older character he still underwent a learning process concerning his own identity and the world. And I’m so proud of Jean for having come so far. Is it Janbo or jeanboyyyyyyyoubetterstopbeforeistartscreamingcryingthrowingup? Also I really appreciate that they acknowledged Pyxis one last time before his death. He really was one of the goats.

My top 5 general moments/episodes in no particular order:

1. When Jean asked armin if abandoning your humanity was the only way to win, and if eren did become that monster would that really be a victory for humanity

This has really stuck with me. Jean best boy.

2. The new Levi squad (eren mikasa armin Sasha jean Connie historia) cleaning the cottage and kinda sorta goofing around and then Levi coming in and inspecting the table and then saying “I’m quite sure I gave you enough time.” lmao

The mood isn’t entirely light here but it’s light enough that they can joke around and get into petty arguments and I really wish we had more episodes like this.

3. Floch telling it like it is before the ceremony to honor their fallen comrades and eren I really can't say if it was the right decision or not jaeger asking armin "What is there beyond the walls?" trying to build his confidence and then finally shutting the hell up after recalling the gruesome death of his aunt faye

Yeah I said I wanted more moments with a lighter mood and this is anything but light, but I'd be lying if I said this wasn’t satisfying to watch. Floch's later ideals were messed up and even without that in the picture it was pretty mean on its own, telling armin that erwin should've lived instead when armin had no say in the decision, but his honesty and objectivity were refreshing. The satisfaction gained from this is still overshadowed by the sacrifices that had been made and by erwin's death, but at the very least this was included into the dialogue. Someone had to tell the truth. Seeing eren unable to continue with his nonsense was just the cherry on top. Again, this is majorly overshadowed by the fact that eren still had his way and the rumbling still happened, but at the very least it was included.

4. Sasha eating seafood/Niccolo's food for the first time

Sasha really undid years of brainwashing and racism by just being herself the beauty of her heart the power she holds SASHA BESTEST MOST LOVABLE GIRL.

5. The first time Sasha eats ice cream and Connie eats from the same ice cream and then sasha goes back to eating the ice cream again

I understand this might not be a big deal for some or maybe a lot of people, but for me this really shows how close they are and how comfortable they are with each other. Neither of them hesitated. It was just so natural for connie to say "Let me try that!" and then to just go for a bite, so natural for sasha I love food braus to extend her arm to offer the ice cream and then to eat it again. I know it's like a really, really, really small thing and maybe not even a thing at all, but it made me feel very warm inside. I've said it before and I'll say it again, how I wish the main trio of snk had been sasha jean and connie instead.

I think that the most disgusting thing about sonofthesaiyans is that he outright says that Sasha’s father doesn’t love her enough because he forgave Gabi. He has no right to tell a grieving father that he didn’t love his daughter enough because he didn’t slice open the throat of a brainwashed child. Killing Gabi is not going to bring Sasha back, the world of Attack on Titan doesn’t work like that. Gabi is not the true evil of Attack on Titan, it is corrupt governments like Marley who were ok with mistreating people and using them like weapons. But then again he is the dumb ass who thinks that an anti fascist series like Attack on Titan is pro fascist just because it shows fascist governments in it, so he might actually believe that killing Gabi could bring Sasha back. He probably hates Artur Braus because he is everything that he can never be, a good and honorable man.

eh as far as aot/snk characters goes, im not those xxx character is too pure or sweet or good. even for characters that were presented to us as "do not kill. be good. they protect! they care!". especially for those in the paradis military specifically. hange despite being the main moral compass in S4 literally tortured that dude. said a bunch of unhinged threats. kills a bunch of scouts while in hiding. levi the beacon of humanity who cares about his comrades, doesnt see them as fodder and their lives matter to him. also kill a bunch of people, assaulted historia, tortured zeke. similarly jean who hates killing or seeing unnecessary loss or death still guess what kills people, attempted war crime on poor falco twice and also justified the genocide.

my point isnt that they are all bad or evil. good people can make bad choices and do terrible things. but i also have to remember they are soldiers. especially in the later parts of the story when its not really them vs titans anymore. and there's no such thing as an ethical soldier in my eyes. so whenever someone placed those characters as morally pure or such, i can never fully agree to that.

The only thing this character earned is a slow, painful and humiliating end. And no the words of Artur Braus WILL NEVER compel me to her side.

There is no Attack on Titan without Sasha.

Just thinking of having to break the news of Sashas death to her family. Connie and Jean, as heartbroken as they are, step up like the adults they've been forced to become at such a young age and go visit the Braus family. There's lots of crying from everyone and the boys break down and Lisa and Artur comfort them like Connie and Jean wanted to do for them. The Braus family is still comforted, knowing Sasha had such wonderful friends.

he always called eren jaeger a suicidal maniac. crazy and reckless, that's what he always knew eren to be. but even after all these years, jean kirstein was jealous of that very same suicidal maniac he thought would lead everyone to hell.

everyone sat in a large cell after being locked up by the jaegerists, who were loyal followers of eren's. jean looked around, seeing artur braus reassure the rest of his family that they would be okay. niccolo stood by them.

mikasa and armin were sitting at a table, quiet after events they wouldn’t speak about. connie had his arms crossed as he glared at the ground… and then his eyes finally made it to you.

you, who was sitting as far away as you could from everyone else. tucked away from everyone else, you had your arms hug your legs.

jean made an effort to talk to you earlier, which was after you had spoken to eren with his best friends, but you couldn't bring yourself to respond. your devastated expression and defeated posture screamed that you wanted to be left alone. but under these circumstances, you couldn't be.

as jean's eyes glanced at your figure, recalled the time where you were happy, truly happy. it was before eren walked into the picture, before it was only you being happy and him being left in the dust. the memories of those days were the ones he basked in.

it was jean and (name). as cliche as it was, jean fell for you, his next door neighbor that turned best friend. you two has become so entwined that you knew almost everything about the other.

that wasn’t the case anymore.

as time moved on after you both joined the cadet corps, things began to change. you told jean less and less, the most important thing being your newfound relationship with eren. that was the first reveal, the one that hurt the most.

“yeah… i’m dating eren. sorry i haven't told you yet. i know how you feel about eren and was scared of how you'd react.”

jean was hurt from the fact that you were dating eren, but what hurt even more was the fact that he figured it out from someone else. it had to be reiner of all people to spill the beans while they were cadets. after that, jean found himself continuously getting hurt.

you and eren were in love, eren was your first, eren was who always received your first “good morning” when breakfast was being served.

each and every action made tears in his paper heart.

but even as he grew even more torn down, he wasn’t going to leave you. even being all busted up, his heart wouldn’t let him. he loved you, he truly did.

jean walked up to you while you were deep in your thoughts. your mind was only able to register him when he placed a comforting hand on your shoulder. you turned your head to him, a piece of hair falling in front of your face.

“hey…” he spoke gently, a tone that he only used with her, “do you want to talk about it?”

you swallowed your tears, scooting closer to jean and placing your head on his shoulder. he brushed that stray piece of hair away from your face while you found comfort in his warmth.

“it just hurts,” she told him. “everything that eren said… he just- after everything we’ve been through, he hurt us so easily.”

‘i wouldn’t hurt you’

“what did he say to you?”

“he said that i was a hopeless and pathetic girl that loved him…”

‘i wouldn’t ever think that in his position’

“…he also told me that he hates me and finds the fact that i can’t hate him amusing.”

‘i would never hate you or say something like that’

“that asshole,” jean growled.

you wrapped your arms around his left one and sighed, “don’t go losing it yet. i think... i think you should take your anger out on me.”

he raised a brow she couldn’t see, “why would i ever be mad at you?”

a frown made it to your face, “because in the end, i still love him. he’s run me over countless of times and left me, but i still can’t say it. i can’t say that i hate him after all his betrayals. i love the eren jaeger, the ultimate asshole.”

jean felt anguish rippling through his body. he bit his lip to prevent it from quivering. he quietly asked, “do you think you’ll love him forever?”

you painfully closed her eyes, “to be honest, i think i will. i've never loved someone the way i've loved him. and without him... i feel so empty.”

his paper heart was then set on fire and burned to ashes.

Hey! Since a lot of Jeankasa fics have them naming their children after Marco and Sasha, I was curious as to how you think the Bott and Braus families react to that?

Hi!

In my own fics, I never give their kids those names tbh so I never really thought of it like this.

Little is known about Marco's family apart from the fact that they're from Jinae so it's hard to tell. It's likely that they wouldn't even know about Marco K. unless Jeankasa visits them/sends them a letter.

It's a different story with Braus family since the Levi Squad was so close-knit and j&m were very likely to spend time with Sasha's parents in the post-canon. Both Artur and Lisa are mild-mannered, so I can only imagine them being pleasantly surprised with the news. Sasha has been a big part in j&m's lives so her parents would only be happy if the memory of her be honored in this way. It's quite symbolic actually - their soldier-daughter who's been taking lives and ended up dead is remembered through a brand new life that is Sasha K. - so perhaps the Braus's would pick up on it.

Hey Daleelah, It's Me Magnafire again, here's a Berusasha AU I want to share with you

Imagine an AU Where Sasha is an Eldian Born on Marley. For intents and Purposes Let's say that they own a diner in Libero

Artur and Lisa Braus take pity on their fellow Eldians and have had struggling eldians show up with no money in their pockets, but they always kept them fed, free of charge, because according to Artur, " where else are people going to go for food". (I totally stole this from the line in the show)

They're able to make ends meet, raising Sasha with love and care although at first, she isn't too accepting of some of these people being able to eat for free because as a kid she thought of Libero as a place where everyone has to look out for themselves.

But working at the diner from a Young age with her mom and dad made her soften up, struggling eldians were human too and in a world as harsh as Marley, everyone sticks together. She also picked up a catchphrase. "You help someone, you help everyone"

One Family that the Braus's took pity on was the Hoovers. Mr. Hoover in particular was pretty sick and couldn't work in Libero due to his medical condition. Mrs. Hoover was struggling to keep up with the medical bills and raising their son Bertholdt.

Sasha pitied and sympathized with Bertholdt immensely for his situation, and as such Bertholdt and his family were more than welcomed at Braus's diner.

Bertholdt feeling like he owes the sweet girl around his age, Sasha, a tremendous debt. Sasha just smiles and shrugs telling Bertholdt he doesn't owe anything.

Sasha and Bertholdt spent a lot of time together, whenever Mr. Hoover was in the hospital and Mrs. Hoover had to work long shifts often back-to-back. Little Bertholdt spent so many hours in the Braus Diner. Some nights too when his mom had to pull an All nighter

Many Nights were spent with Sasha stargazing, Bertholdt and Sasha sharing their dreams and aspirations. Bertholdt made a promise to Sasha that he was going to get them out of the Interment Zone. His Mom, Dad, Sasha, Sasha's parents.

The Bond between Bertholdt and Sasha grew exponentially causing her to fall in love with him. His shy, adorable demeanor and his hope. Sasha's generous and infectious laughter filled Bertholdt with boundless love even though they were kids.

That's it for now, I have a part 2 in development that is nearly done. Part 2 picks up and Heres a little teaser: with the unexpected and mysterious circimstances surroundign the Death of Bertholdt's mother, and a sickly father who's only getting worse. Bertholdt has to make a choice. To enlist in the Warrior Unit and earn a chance to save his father

But the ramifications of becoming a warrior of Marley leads to many challenges, challenges that test the bond between Bertholdt and Sasha. Will Bertholdt and Sasha's childhood love prevail? How will Sasha deal with the consequences that her love is now on a time limit? Will they escape the Interment Zone and truly find a place for them?

Soon those questions will be answered.

I just think it would be so cute if mikasa came to live connie’s mom or close by and when connie returns to paradis he sees how close his mom and mikasa came to be. How do u think conkasa would start seeing eo differently?

I think so, too! So, this is what I was thinking. Connie's mom likes living in a small village but she for sure is done with Ragako after losing almost all of her family and then being stuck on that house as a titan. Connie suggests she moves to Sasha's village,because she knows Artur Braus is a cool guy and will make her feel at home. When Mikasa mentions she doesn't like living in the city, Connie is like, "Go live in Sasha's old village! It's great! My mom loves it there!" So Mikasa does and Connie obviously comes to see everyone when he's not traveling around with Armin and everyone doing their ambassador shit.

How do I think Conkasa start seeing each other differently? Okay, so my thought is they initially bond over their mutual grief at having lost the most important person in each of their lives. In my wip (the one, single partial scene I have written), I have them seeing each other for the first time in a few years at Sasha's grave. Connie mentions how she never writes to anyone and she apologizes for being such a bad pen pal, she just doesn't know what to say. Connie tells her if she's writing to him, she can say whatever she wants because he's just happy to get mail.

Which is how they start writing to each other. Connie is doing the rounds with everyone again and he and Mikasa are writing to each other regularly and commiserating and also starting to get to know each other better than they had before. The next time the gang are back in Paradis, they're both really looking forward to seeing each other, but not really realizing that it might be because of more than just friendship.

Connie and Jean are both thinking they're ready to come back home and settle down on the island while Armin, Annie, and Reiner are good to keep going as diplomats. Connie, because he is such a good friend, encourages Mikasa to try dating Jean, and tries to ignore the fact that he actually really hates the idea. Mikasa, for her part, finds that she's disappointed Connie is moving home and immediately trying to set her up with someone else.

She goes on a few underwhelming dates with Jean (she can't really get into it) and Connie is getting kind of distant because he's having a hard time dealing with his feelings about it and she is really distressed that she seems to be losing him when he's finall back home. Then maybe she writes him a letter about her feelings? Or maybe Mikasa is visiting Jean and Connie in the city while they figure out where they're going to be living etc. so Connie goes back with her to the village to see his mom and she points out that he's fallen for Mikasa? I don't know. Anyway, it's been a very soft and gradual progression from comrades to friends to falling for each other so it just kind of snuck up on them both. Connie moves to Sasha's village, which he was planning on doing anyway, and eventually they get married and have three cute little kids and live a quiet, simple life not unlike the one she led with her parents but with neighbors around.

After taking a break for a few days I’ve pretty much calmed down enough to be able to think about who my favorite characters are now that I’ve finished the show

Obviously spoilers if you’re not done with the show

1. I don’t like children but if I had sasha as a daughter I would work my butt off to ensure she got to eat every single thing she wanted to eat and I’d make sure to spend as much time as possible to bond with her and I’d teach her about the world while also shielding her from every kind of hurt. I believe in sasha supremacy. The moment she saved Samuel back in season 1 I immediately felt there was going to be more to her than just the comedic relief. She’s the loveliest ball of sunshine in the show and she deserved so much more screen time. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched her save kaya now and every time I go back to when she got carlo in one shot and then proceeded to look the cart dead in the eye without flinching even as the cart was about to charge at her I’m always filled with pride. She grew up so well.

2. Jean’s character development is one of the best in the series, and he’s charismatic but also incredibly relatable. From the looks of it he grew up in a relatively normal family, had a normal childhood, and he didn’t have ackerman/noble blood or titan powers or special abilities and yet was the best out of all of the ‘normal’ scouts from the 104th. I could go on and on and on about why he’s so precious but there’s just one thing I want to mention at this point because I just realized I’ve never talked about this before. He’s a decent man and I love him for it. It’s sad that we feel we have to ‘applaud’ or even comment on something like this but this is the world we live in. What I mean is, some guys are weird with their crushes, like predatory or toxic, but not jean. He never tried to manipulate mikasa and he wasn’t even annoying with it. Regardless of how she was as a person, he treated her as just that, a person, and as a friend. And he truly meant well. That’s unfortunately more than what we can say for a lot of men (and women). Also, he should’ve been the next commander and I don’t care if this has become redundant. I will die on this hill.

3. I just want to know why we weren’t given a backstory for hange. Levi had one erwin had one even jean had one (baby jean boy is the cutest 😭) the majority of the main cast had some kind of backstory but not hange. Why???????? Also, I’m not into girls but I’d probably marry her. And this is another thing that I haven’t talked about on here, which is that the entire time I was watching the series, the one and only time I actually teared up was when she died and met all of those that had passed before her. It was the whole situation of her doing everything she could to hold back the rumbling and then literally burning to her death and then meeting the others and her looking at the flying boat from a distance. The moment I heard Erwin’s voice saying “it took off” I lost it. I wasn’t sobbing or anything but internally I really was suffering. Most likely it wasn’t just hange but rather the weight of it all, and my heart hurt more times than I can count watching the series, but this really was the one and only time, which is saying something considering the show is basically just one massive heartbreak.

4. I know connie is popular enough but to me he’s still such an underrated character. Even back in season 1 where we didn’t get to see him as much, I always had a soft spot for him. I think it was mostly because he often acted like an idiot, which was endearing on its own, but you could also kind of sense that there was more to him than just that, much like sasha. And the affection that he had for his family and especially for his mom, my heart hurts every time I think about it. I wish he had been given more screen time. Also it’s probably obvious by now but since I haven’t said it before I’ll take this chance. I’d rather watch the show with Sasha jean and Connie as the main trio. There I said it. And I’m sure there are others who share my sentiment. Another thing that I’ve never said before is I feel like he had one of the best physical glow ups in the series 😂 I really really liked how he looked by the end of it. He was already handsome to begin with and it wasn’t like he had an enormous change in appearance either but adulthood looked really good on him. And I love a man who cuts his own hair.

5. I would love a proper prequel with Levi as the main character.

6. I really wish we got to see more of Pyxis. Go on and give us that in the prequel above 🙏

7. I was quite surprised I ended up liking Keith so much considering there isn’t much material to turn to, but his scenes in season 4 hit me like a truck. Don’t be shy and show us more of him in the prequel above 👍

8. Reiner also took me by surprise. I knew there must have been more to his story, alongside bertholdt’s and Annie’s, but I just didn’t feel anything for him in seasons 1 to 3. On the other hand watching him in season 4 felt like watching a whole other person. This probably sounds stupid but the thought of it is fair I think. If I had a choice I probably would have married hange and then raised Sasha, jean, Connie, Levi and Reiner as our children. Also I’m not denying that Reiner’s sins are real, but I still believe he deserved better. No one should have to go through what the warriors/Eldians in Marley had to go through. He literally developed a whole other personality to cope. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the guilt must have been eating him alive.

9. I still haven’t been able to get over Erwin’s death. I might not be able to. I mean, asking “What do you see here? What do you think the enemy is?” all the way back in season 1? Mentally the man was already in season 4 😩 It’s kind of sad but his absence in the last season made me appreciate him even more. Somehow he was always at the back of my mind. Also while he often manipulated people he rarely, if ever, did so with lies. He saw himself as an “expert conman” with “a whole slew of lies” but I don’t think this is true. The only one I can think of at the moment is when he arranged for the scouts to be told different things concerning eren’s location for the 57th expedition. But this doesn’t hurt anyone and it was mainly done for eren’s security and to lure out the possible spies so I’m not mad at this at all. He rarely lied about the actual facts of a situation, and I really respect him for that. He’s much less a conman and much more a hype man. Just for the record though I’m always going to feel 50/50 about him but despite this he’s number 9 out of all of the characters because the half that I do like is really doing its work like the rent is due.

10. Armin but the fact that I had to think long and hard about whether or not I liked anyone better...🤡 Season 1 armin is still my favorite armin, specifically the first half of it, and it’s not even close 💀 had this been based on just the rest of the series he wouldn’t even have touched the top 15. It’s simply amazing how he went from being one of the most promising, most inspiring characters to being one of the biggest letdowns in the entire series. That said, he will always have a special place in my heart. For me, a few of his best moments were when he was shaking in fear the first time the colossal attacked but still managed to find hannes and then asked him for help, when he comforted bertholdt by saying that cherishing one’s life is admirable too, and when he came up with that speech in order to convince the soldiers that eren wasn’t an enemy (yes he would’ve failed without Pyxis but, for me, the speech still remains to this day one of the most iconic and one of the most moving parts of the whole show).

2. Most of floch’s lines in season 3 were chef’s kiss and even though I don’t agree with his ideals I still think his relentlessness and leadership were commendable
