Last week Ellenor art studio looked at certain words and colours and thought about how this made them feel. They began the group with imagining what colour they were feeling like that day.
Between the session last week and this week they were invited to draw or paint something of their choice. Everyone returned today with something they had worked on during the week, showing each other and themselves they had taken a bit of time out to sit and paint.

‘Bring me Sunshine’ Sunshine and Rain theme of the week
A piece of artwork working with the idea of including the sunshine or sunlight in the painting to add mood and atmosphere. The Autumnal light gives it a very specific dreamlike feel to it.
Artists we looked at this week were: Olafur Eliasson,
Utagawa Hiroshige and Spring Rain woodblock prints
Nancy Holt and Sun Tunnels
Chiang Yee and The Silent Traveller
Caspar David Friedrich ‘Woman before the Rising Sun’
Cailbotte ‘Paris Street-Rainy weather’
 Van Gogh Wheatfields
Gregory Thielker and his realistic paintings of rain
The Art of Armana
Magritte Galconda
Edvard Munch, The Sun

Ellenor art studio looked at decoupage and the history behind the technique. You can try this easily at home, you don't need fancy materials. You just need a pot or a box, some cut outs of your favourite things, these could be from a magazine or Sunday supplement, or like this member of the group who bought a book from a charity shop and cut out the birds and stuck them to the pot. You can see how effective and simple this is. You can use clear PVA glue like they did or 'Modge podge' which is specially made for decoupage enthusiasts. Some art and craft shops sell a lot of things for decoupage but if you want to do it cheaply, just an old box, pot, PVA glue that is clear and an old paintbrush will do.
If you want to decorate a flower pot, you could use Modge Podge which is specially used for outside to glue on the cut outs.
