Art o Mat

Art o Mat has excepted my copper bookmark. The inspiration for Art-o-mat came to artist Clark Whittington in June 1997. He’s  recycling cigarette machines to sell art work the size of a pack of cigarettes. He’s gone from 1 machine to about 200 machines across the country. Our first four shows are listed below. Further shows will be announced later. This weekend, we'll be kicking off the tour at the Artomatic Risers Fest in Washington, D.C. on Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10. Events start at 2 PM, free entry. Hope to see you there or at one of the future dates!

I sent in some of my ceramic tiles and they were excepted for Art o Mat machine.  A year later my back went out and gave up ceramic. I will be trying to get this shipment of copper bookmarks out this week.

ARTOMATIC 2024

Here is my new installation, "PINK COMPASS, TRUE NORTH" assembled onsite over February 23-24, 2024 on the eight floor of 2100 M Street NW in Washington, DC. I am one of hundreds of visual and performing artists gathering to transform an empty Brutalist-style 1968 office building into a creative community open during March and April 2024. In addition to visual arts, there will be music, dance, theatre, poetry, films, fashion shows, bars, and more!

I designed this art work as a focal place to help people orient themselves to where they stand in midst of this giant 50,000 square foot floor in a huge eight-floor downtown building just a few blocks away from the White House as well as the wide world outside the many surrounding windows. The power of the color pink and universal familiarity with toys draws visitors in close and prompts them to smile. The positive Feng Shui of the site enhances everyone's experience in the here and now.

By the time the show opens, the empty space around the compass will be filled in with awesome artwork. Walking through Artomatic is a cure for the blues. There is much to celebrate in life.
