Oh no! The stranger in front of you dropped their keys. ✨🔑 There's quite a few of them and they're all labeled, but... surely that can't be right? One says "Happiness", one says "Fortune", another one is labeled as "Soulmate" and yet another one says "Strength".

When you pick them up to give them back they feel warm and welcoming, almost magical... Then you notice that the stranger is quickly walking away from you! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Are you running after them? Keep the keys for yourself or are you giving them awayto someone in the @ ? 😳 There's a lot of things one could do with such a magical object...

I stare at the keys for a long moment, surprised. At first I assume they're a particularly elaborate piece of cosplay, but the more I turn them over, the more I am convinced that the strange, tingling warmth could not be produced by technology. The strength key is strangely heavy, while happiness seems to glow with something that is not quite light and not quite warmth. I can almost swear that soulmate has near-invisible lines emerging from it and weaving off into the distance.

By the time I look up again from the keys, the stranger is almost gone. I stand there for a moment, torn. It's been a long day and I had been hoping not to talk to anyone before I got home, but I've read enough fairy tales to know that simply taking something like this would be a bad idea. And I have a feeling it wouldn't be great to just leave them in the lost and found.

Just before the stranger goes out of sight, I start after them. I'm slowly gaining at them, but the distance between us is still large. If they notice that I'm following them or I catch up to them, I'll give them back their keys, and hope to have the chance to ask about them. But if I can't catch up and they don't notice... I certainly wouldn't say no to the chance to see what they where they were going to go with these keys.

The keys feel like they are calling me. In a way, they feel like home, like the person in front of me wants me to keep them.

That is for sure, but I need to know more, to learn more.

And so I run. Can I catch up to the person who dropped them ?

Silly little bard. Colorful clothes, makes his lute go plink plonk while he sings.

Meanwhile in Oxenfurt he is renowned Professor Doctor Pankratz who regularly goes on stage in front of hundreds of people (kings and queens always present of course) and then he pulls some Vivaldi Summer shit while everyone else loses their head over just how good he is.

Oooh, thank you for asking!! This pairing has been floating around the back of my head for a while and I finally had an idea for how to make it work: Yennefer saves a bunch of people from that illness, including Essi. Here's a snippet!

She looks at Yennefer with her single visible eye shining. “I don’t know how I’ll repay you.”   Yennefer hums. Several people have nervously asked what they can give her in exchange for her services. They leave quickly when they learn she has a salary. “The mayor is paying me,” she says. “Now get out of the bed before someone else falls into it.” The girl stands tentatively. Her legs are wobbly, but they hold her. She smiles.  “Oh, this is wonderful! Whatever the mayor is paying you can’t possibly be enough. I must do something.” Yennefer magics the sheets clean of sweat, grimacing at the effort. The girl’s eyes widen. Yennefer looks her up and down skeptically.  “I don’t know how you could possibly help me,” she says.  “I am going to write you so many songs,” breaths the girl, ignoring Yennefer. Yennefer sighs. “Of course you can’t do anything helpful,” she mutters, mostly to herself. When she looks up and sees that the girl hasn’t moved, she glares. “Get out of here. I’m busy.”

I take a few quick steps towards them, trying to yell out to them to wait up. When they keep going, I slow down, looking over the gem they left behind. Not sure what else to do with it, I place it in my bag and take it with me, interested in finding out what it is when I get home.

"Kaer Morhen Monster Processing, Vesemir speaking."

"My name is Lambert Hendriks. I need someone to kill monsters for me."

"Listen, kid, this is not a joke number. I'm not responsible for whatever laundry heap is casting shadows in your room. Where are your parents?"

"I'm not stupid. There's actual monsters in our house."

"Boy, this-"

"My father killed my Momma three days ago. He ran away after that and left the door open. She's starting to smell and it made monsters come inside. My father has a rifle but I'm locked into my room and my last lock pick broke, so I can't get it by myself."

[a pause, the sound of shuffling]

"Where do you live, kid?"

"He took us to a cabin in the woods. Near the Griffin Reservoir. I remember a road sign with a really big dick graffiti on it. We drove into the woods right after we passed it."

"Alright kid, that's good, I'm fairly close by. Think you can hold out a couple of hours?"

"I guess so. They're clawing at the door, but I pushed my drawers in front of it. I don't have any money, but-"

"Don't worry about that, kid."

"But it's important! Witchers get paid for killing monsters. I don't have money, but my father stole something before he got into the fight with Momma, so you can have that. Law of surprise, right? Whatever you see first, you can have it."

"Okay. Alright. We'll do that. I'll be there soon."

So very bland. The idea behind it is good but there's absolutely no emotions behind the writing style.

I bought the Fairyloot version of this second hand, so at least it looks pretty in my shelf. I will definitely not read the second part of this.
