Appearance and Personality
Appearance: Chenoa has a slight tall and feminine figure, despite wearing heels or not whenever she goes out and holds a similar appearance to her twin brother, Eugene but more feminine to her gender. She has long pastel sky colored hair which she ties at the bottom of her hair with a medium sized bow ribbon. She has light lavender colored eyes which it can turn into dark jean blue whenever she uses her myth abilities. Chenoa is somewhat a timid person and gets easy to get scared.
Personality: Chenoa is the youngest and first daughter within her family and is Eugene's younger twin sister, although her personality holds the opposite despite they were born identical to their appearances but their personalities during their childhood. Chenoa as a child tends to be a bit a crybaby slightly but it slowly stops as she grows older.
As mentioned, Chenoa gets scared slightly easy but it will only happened once to the people that she isn't familiar with in the academy and it will stop eventually, however with her twin brother and her friends however, it was a daily dose for her to get startled a lot of times from them, especially from her brother and Freya a lot as well. But with her half-myth companions, she well familiar with them despite being a victim of getting startled a lot on a daily basis, though she may or not have tried to hide this fact.
Chenoa has her own mannerisms whenever she interacting with anyone, but tired to be at least mature or formal and not letting her timidity in the way, she can be a little bit socializing with anyone she meets, and in addition if you get close with her (including with her twin brother), Chenoa is your fashion geek bestie.
But there are days if you have some of the hobbies that she likes but kept hidden, she'll become your alarm clock for self-care duties. Making sure that you don't slack off after playing video games all day.
Be careful whenever you're with her, cause Chenoa tends to check whenever you have rather a foul-like or facade attitude with her. Like a few of her co-workers, she tends to be selective to whoever she talks to. So she hides this fact from anyone before trusting them.
Although she doesn't have good control on her negative emotions that well, so it wouldn't be that normal is she started lashing things out of the ordinary within a silence mood.
This girl needs some time to adjust herself in, but she's stressing out slightly... Someone needs to calm her down.

Excerpt:
Amidst the sprawling fields of Chenoa, a small town nestled in the heart of the Texas, a tale of resilience and friendship unfolds. At its core lies the story of a young woman named Indigo, whose journey from darkness to light weaves a tapestry of courage, love, and the transformative power of friendship.
Indigo had known no other reality than the one she shared with her abusive boyfriend, Troy. The shackles of fear bound her tightly, choking the life out of her dreams. But one fateful night, fueled by a flicker of courage ignited deep within her heart, she made the decision to break free.
With nothing but a few belongings and a trembling resolve, Indigo set out on a journey to start anew in a town where nobody knew her name. Chenoa welcomed her with open arms, offering sanctuary from the storm that had raged within her for far too long.
As Indigo tentatively navigated the unfamiliar school of her new home, she stumbled upon a group of misfits whose warmth and acceptance enveloped her like a comforting embrace. Among them were Brooke and Jerald, inseparable siblings whose laughter echoed through the halls of Chenoa High School, and JC, whose inner turmoil simmered beneath his charming exterior.
Together, they formed an unlikely family, bound not by blood but by the unbreakable ties of friendship and shared experiences. Each member of their motley crew bore scars of their own, but together, they found solace in the company of kindred spirits.
As high school dramas unfolded and personal traumas resurfaced, Indigo and her newfound companions stood united against the tide of adversity. They rallied together to seek justice against a conniving classmate, their bonds growing stronger with each shared victory.
But beneath the surface of their idyllic friendship lay secrets waiting to be unearthed. JC harbored a love for Jerald that dared not speak its name, while Brooke's premonitions whispered of futures yet to unfold. And in the shadows, Jerald battled with the demons of his past, struggling to tame the beast within.
Yet through it all, they clung to each other, their hearts intertwined in a tapestry of love and loyalty. As they confronted their deepest fears and embraced their unique gifts, they discovered that strength lies not in solitude but in the unbreakable bonds of friendship.
In The Heart of Chenoa, amidst the Spanish moss trees and the whispering winds, Indigo and her friends learned that the greatest battles are fought not with fists but with hearts open wide. And as they embraced the magic woven into the fabric of their lives, they found redemption in the unlikeliest of places: within themselves, and within the hearts of those they held dear.

An artist so practiced and attuned with visual images gave the vaguest description possible. Alex didn't exactly blend in, and all that stood in the way of a meeting now was time.
"There's a few celebrities around, yeah." Tej was known in such a specific circle. Part of a Met exhibition. Regularly caught by street fashion photographers in NYC. All hardly worth mentioning. He'd glimpsed second-hand celebrity, of course. Much of what it took to maintain seemed like a pain in the ass.
Tej threw a look to the silent, ever present paparazzi: the fixed cameras. Singular eyes on the end of an antennae and focused right on them. "Wonder what's going on back home. I'd hope someone might tie together the sudden disappearances of a few famous people. You reckon?"
"I'm sure someone watched the bridge collapse. Probably jerked off to the whole thing." (Which made Tej wonder: his subs were going through the roof, but how many did his abandoned OnlyFans have now?) With a gesture once again to reference whoever sat on the other end of the camera lens, "Those stupid flowers on the cameras. On everything. Except this bracelet." But the stone somehow provided an exhale when worn. A fog of uneasiness surrounded Tej when it was off his wrist.
"I wonder what will happen to the boat. It was a waiting room, I guess. Now it doesn't matter?" As new people dropped in infrequently, and no longer through the decaying carcass of a cruise ship. Tej nodded-- yes to keeping Lokni up to date, yes to the boot up the ass their captors deserved.
Lokni shared in a way so few bothered to do back in New York (which included Tej himself). To leave without looking back was relatable. "Bold move, just the two of you leaving the rez like that. Starting up in... same state?" A lot of questions to ask, although immediately Tej didn't want to pry. A curiosity best saved when they were out of the shadow of a looming tower.
An brow arched., unusually expressive for Tej. "Mongolia? Because of th horses, hm?" His lips pressed into flat line. "Mm. Got to go to a few places I never dreamed of going to." A twist at the base of his throat made Tej question if he'd ever be anywhere else again.
His mouth shifted into a lopsided amusement. A boy and his horse. Not difficult to imagine Lokni running an affectionate hand along the soft felt of hair, the swivel of an ear and lazy swing of the tail as Lokni shared a secret with Chenoa. "Horses tend not to interrupt too much. Keep their controversial opinions to themselves. It's a nice name. Got a photo of Chenoa on your phone?" Another anomaly, the phones.
"Ever wonder what they know about us." The contents of their phones. The name of Lokni's horse. Tej's jaw hinged tighter as his hand played with the light and the dark at the top of the tower.
A flash caused Tej to briefly shield his eyes. Warmth radiated across one ear, the cheek. Much like being behind the wheel on a hot summer day with the sun mercilessly following along the driver's side. But the light aimed for Lokni, who reeled back with a shout.
A small horror: I did that. (And the first real thrill in a long time, I did that.) Instinct moved Tej a few feet away, with hands locked on top of his head in disbelief. "Fucking hell, man. You okay?" Shit, the last thing he needed to deal with was blinding someone.
His hands lowered and he took a tentative step closer. "Not sure what happened." Lokni was way too savvy for Tej to feign innocence, so might as well fess up. "The light followed my hands. Don't understand how, or why. Wasn't thinking it would get that bright." He watched Lokni, carefully searching for signs of retaliation. "Sorry."
Sarcasm was a familiar friend to Lokni- reminded him of being on the job and hearing his coworkers banter back and forth. So, hearing it from Tej made Lokni's heart ache for home, just a bit. Nevertheless, he laughed at Tej's deadpan replies, opting to switch gears and focus on the appearance factor that Tej was using to describe this 'survivalist.' "Can't say that I've run into anyone that looks like what you're describing. Not yet at least. That show rings a bell though, my mother watches it. I never sat down to watch it with her though. I didn't realize that actors and celebrities were getting pulled into this shit as well." Momentarily stunned, Lokni listened intently to Tej's retelling of what harrowing events had happened at the bridge. When he finished, Lokni let out a low whistle, "good to see that you're still in one piece. I'll be sure to thank them if I come across 'em. A whole lotta' people on this island, and more coming in occassionally. Strange that even after we came to on the ship, new people still trickle in every now and then." The inconsistencies of the island really irritated Lokni. There were too many damn variables to get a straight read on things. As Tej explained about the antenna, the gears in Lokni's head slowly creaked into motion. Someone may come looking for that. Especially if it was a vital piece to their coms system or something. "If you find anyone let me know. I'd like to give 'em a piece of my mind, maybe even a boot up the ass depending on how long it takes them to show their gutless faces." A mysterious, almost imperceptible smile flickered across Tej's lips, but Lokni couldn't really get a read on exactly why. 'I was ready to get out' Lokni turned Tej's words over in his head pensively. A chord of similarity had been struck, and Lokni felt that he could see Tej a little more cleary. Just a little. Lokni, himself, had felt similarly. Wanderlust followed Lokni like a reoccurring dream; a constant reminder of what could have been, if he had just been better. Choosing his words with hesitation, Lokni said, "I can kinda' understand where you're coming from. The reservation that I was born on was small, lacked infrastructure, had a real' bad heroin problem for some time. Probably still does, I haven't been back to check. For fifteen empty years, I walked the dusty dirt roads of that rez until we were able to move out to Oregon. We had to give up the only community that we had ever known, but it was a chance at a better life. We both needed it. We don't do too badly nowadays, but there're still many places in the world that I'd like to see before I'm six feet under." Lokni turned to look out over the overgrown jungle that stretched out before them, "this wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Given a choice, I would've liked to start with Mongolia." Lokni did his best to hide his amusement at Tej's question about the meaning of Chenoa's name. "There's a lot of confusion around that name, whether it means one thing or another, but actually I just named her after the river where I found her. There was a pretty big river that ran through the plains, had no official name but was colloquially called 'the Chenoa River.' Lucky that I found her when I did, or else I might've never met one of my closest friends. Great listeners, horses." Joking was never something that came naturally to Lokni, and yet there he was making jests and laughing at Tej's in turn. This guy was fun to be around, even if he mainly spoke in shades of sarcasm. Strangely enough, things were going well, that is until Tej raised a hand- was he- no it couldn't be- was he controlling the light? The next thing that Lokni knew was white hot pain as concentrated light roasted his retinas. He yelled out in pain, stumbling backward, his back smacking into the solid wall of the tower. He groaned, clutching his head as searing hot pain still coarsed through his eyes.

“I Am YEG Arts” Series: Ian Crutchley
Potential. Some people see it in everything. If you’re Ian Crutchly, you also hear it, feel it, and can’t wait to share it—which is exactly what he does. Whether he’s composing, performing, collaborating, or teaching, his end goal is always the same: to share what you can with each other. To Crutchley, that same sentiment informs a lot of what goes on in the arts here—a community he describes as a network of deeply caring and collaborative relationships—with a future he can’t wait to see.
Composer, educator, and Artistic Director with New Music Edmonton, this week’s “I Am YEG Arts” story belongs to Ian Crutchley.
Tell us about your connection to Edmonton and what keeps you living and working here.
I moved to Edmonton in 2009, along with my spouse, flutist Chenoa Anderson. She grew up out here, so, for one of us this already was home, but now I also consider it home! Top reason to stay here: the arts scene! This is a place where folks in any experimental arts discipline can find opportunities to present their own work, and also to work with others. Somehow, when you move here, those already here just seem to find you. And underlying all this is the great support we enjoy by way of public funding.
How did you get your start as a composer/performer? Was it always Plan A?
Like many, I started by playing in elementary school band class. Some things you can only see in retrospect: looking back, I can see that right away music was at least a little bit more important to me than it was to most of my friends. And while many of them dropped music over the years of high school, I kept going and, with the encouragement of my parents, decided to go on to college and university. It was there that I first found out what a composer was and immediately decided it was the right thing for me. By a weird quirk of the curriculum in the B.Mus. prep program I was in, I was actually assigned to write a 12-tone piece in my first year, and that hooked me for good. Also, I can see now that I had a long fascination (predating band class) of finding ways to make instruments (and other things) make cool sounds, and enjoyed rock music that was basically chaotic and noisy.
Tell us a little about your role with New Music Edmonton (NME) and what makes it special to you and the city.
My official title is Artistic Director, and I am basically the one in charge of supervising what artistic content we present. While some decisions are entirely my own, we do most of our programming in a collaborative way, with team-juried open calls. We also invite individuals who are not directly involved in the organization to curate events.
What makes NME special to me is seeing how, thanks to enormous amounts of community input, it has evolved from a club for classical composers into a bona fide hub for pretty much any creative practices involving sound as a medium. What makes NME special to the city? To be honest, I think it is that we remain unique in being the only publicly funded organization whose sole purpose is to support the practices we do and to offer professional presentations of new work by local and visiting artists.
Tell us about someone whose support and advice have guided your career.
Oh wow! That’s a big question. I feel like the mentorship from which I have benefited is really an assemblage of large and small things that have come from different people over the several decades since I first started studying music. My family’s unconditional support has been vital, as have been the bits of advice and situations I have found myself in as a result of my teachers’ guidance, suggestions and interventions. I have also learned tons from my students. At the heart of it all, for decades, I have been blessed with incredible support and sage advice from Chenoa, my partner in life and art since we met at UBC.
What does community mean to you, and where do you find it?
It’s somewhat epitomized by the very young person who, accompanied by a parent, went door-to-door in our neighbourhood early in the pandemic, leaving a note letting anyone know that if they needed anything at all, they could call and this brilliant human would be there for them. Amazing, and inspirational! The words caring and sharing also come to mind, along with an obligation to act, when we can, to ensure others are okay and getting the help they need. We can’t be a community unless we care about everyone in it and share what we can with each other. I think this idea informs a lot of what goes on in the arts here—there is an amazing network of creative, collaborative, and deeply caring relationships underlying it all, within and across disciplines.
What is the creative process like for you? Where/how do you usually begin?
Like many, notebooks are the core of my work. If I am writing a new composition, it begins with trying to either verbalize in writing or represent graphically what will happen. My notebooks, worked on in cafes, libraries, airplanes, and even bars, are mostly full of multi-coloured words, numbers, and drawings. My way of working is focused on setting up a process, unique to each work, of which any finished work will merely be one example of what that process might produce.
What qualities overlap in being a composer and a performer. How have you grown most in each role?
Since my performance activities are improvisatory, constant invention is a must—yet that kind of invention is crucial to composing, too. In improv, it is the (nearly) instantaneous generation of a sound or sounds in response to a unique performance context. In composition, the invention has more to do with inventing new ways of composing via unique, stable processes that underlie a new piece.
I’m not totally sure I can say I have grown as an artist—part of being an artist, for me, is about the sense of play, even when it is serious. Maybe I am better at playing now! Hmmm… I think one way things have changed is that decisions happen more quickly, and that might be one way in which, as my “second practice,” improv has informed my compositional work. I owe a lot of that to numerous dancers in Edmonton, who have generously allowed me to grow as an improviser in the context of their workshops and finished works.
As a composer, though, I am also at a real crossroads with what I am doing—the concepts are really at odds with what I prioritized in the past. I am very happy with that and allowing myself, through slow development and experimentation, to find a way of concretizing what it is I am imagining.
What are you looking forward to most this winter in Edmonton?
I actually like the winters here and am even a winter cyclist! Personally—and I know not everyone is like this—I feel way more creative in the colder months. That has always been the case. I was also really excited to make a return to teaching this fall, at Concordia University of Edmonton. I’ve been away from teaching for a few years but have really been inspired by getting back in the classroom with a great group of students!
I think one of the other reasons I enjoy the colder months is that they tend to be the time when most arts organizations launch their seasons. Whether online or in person, I’m looking forward to all sorts of great things from local and visiting artists, and to the inspiring performances and community activities that everyone’s been cooking up in the off-season.
What excites you most about the YEG arts scene right now?
The last three years have been very hard in so many ways, and everyone (not just artists) are really just coming to terms with what’s happened. On the other hand, emerging from this period has been some truly visionary presentation strategies, some serious commitment to long-term equity policies and structural change, and even some new venues. We’ve also seen some amazing new ideas and works from established artists, countered by lots of cool and innovative emerging artists.
Underlying it all, we’ve enjoyed fabulous support from our local and national funders. All of this suggests the potential for a lot of wonderful and surprising new work to happen in the months and years ahead. The tough times are not over, but artists here will keep working and finding ways to express the things everyone is experiencing and the times in which we are living, through all kinds of amazing practices. I’m looking forward to what’s to come!

About Ian Crutchley
Ian Crutchley was born in Toronto, grew up in Surrey, has lived in England and New Brunswick, and seems to have settled in Edmonton. His ongoing education in creativity and in life has been informed by phenomenal teachers, students, and a remarkable menagerie of wise, sharing, and loving people he has known at work and at play. A classical composer by training, his practice has broadened in recent years to include improvisation and performances with dancers and other artists. The sounds he uses can come from anything that he finds that seems useful, from traditional instruments to marbles and odd bits and bobs he has found in junk shops and alleyways. He has a particular fondness for transistor radios.
Ian is an educator, a founding member of the improvisation group damn magpies, and the Artistic Director of New Music Edmonton.

OT 2017 TOP 3 CHRISTMAS GALA
Here's gala 8 :)
The first special gala of the new OT!! This aired on Christmas Day, and I remember being more excited for this than for the presents and stuff jsdjs. Anyways, this gala worked a bit different. There were no nominations or expulsions, this was just to have fun. And, as special guests, some OT 1 contestants sung songs they performed in OT 1 with the OT 2017 contestants!!! Which was very cool!!! I'll talk about them if I get to talk about the songs so you get a bit of context, but yeah, this was a big deal!! When OT 1 came out I was 3 (my mum says I watched it tho) so I don't have a real attachement to them, BUT since last year my favourite Spanish youtuber, Carolina Iglesias, has been making a series of videos reacting to all the galas of OT 1, they are hilarious and if you know Spanish I really recommend them (here's the video of the first gala, I couldn't find a complete playlist, but she's done up antil gala 5-6 i believe, she stopped right after Àlex's death, I don't know when she'll continue with them). Anyways, thanks to those videos I now know a bit more about the contestants, so I can talk a bit more about them here :)
Anyways, let's start with the honorable mentions:
Lady Marmalade - Ana, Gisela, Vero & Mimi: The original performance (the third girl is Chenoa, one of the most famous from the edition and the absolute best) is one of the most iconic performances of OT 1, and this one was also very good! Vero ended up 6th and it's now a singer residing in the USA, while Gisela (who btw if I had watched OT1 would've been my favourite alongside Alejandro) ended up 8th and she's now a successful musical actress and voice actress. In fact, she was the voice of Elsa in Castilian, which means she performed in the Oscars in 2019!!!!
Vivo Por Ella - Nerea & Àlex: I still listen to this song to this day, it's sooo good. Anyways, Àlex ended up 10th in OT 1, and continued working in the Catalan television network, released some songs and starred in musicals, until he sadly died due to a car crash in March 2nd 2021, a death that shocked the whole nation, as he is the first contestant from OT to die, and which makes watching this video harder ngl. Anyways, here's the original performance, by Gisela and David Bustamante (I think Bustamante was supposed to sing this song with Nerea originally, but he couldn't make it. Bustamante is one of the most succesful artists that came out of OT ever. ALSO, I believe people shipped Bustamante and Gisela during the contest).
Gracias por la música - Amaia & Rosa: THE TWO QUEENS OF SPAIN!!! Anyways, Rosa won OT 1 and went to Eurovision with the bop "Europe's Living a Celebration", and if you hear her sounding a bit off, it's cause they fucking exploited the hell of her voice after she won (here's the original performance with Nuria Fergó so you can hear how amazing her voice was), until the point she had to get surgery. So yeah. But yes, Rosa was dubbed Rosa de España (and Amaia was also dubbed Amaia de España), and she will always form part of the history of Spain.
3. NOCHES DE BOHEMIA - MIREYA & NURIA FERGÓ
youtube
Here's the original song, by Navajita Plateá, and here's the performance in OT 1, by Nuria and Manu Tenorio :)
Flamenco in OT is so scarce that I gotta take what little we have. And this song was SO GOOD and Nuria and Mireya are SUCH QUEENS. I genuinely prefer this version to the OT 1 one. Anyways, Nuria Fergó ended up being 7th, and she's still a singer, with a couple hits, and has also appeared as an actress in TV shows. I really liked her in OT 1, and I think she's underrated, just like Mireya. Also, both of them won beauty pageants in their hometowns, both in Andalusia, so this was like a match made in heaven.
2. CAMINA - GROUPAL
youtube
Slight spoiler, number 1 and 2 are going to be group songs!!! Anyways, this is the hymn of OT 2017, and they sung it for the first time here!!!! This song is so fucking iconic, you don't understand, it was EVERYTHING. It has nearly 11 million streams on Spotify alone, and I'm sure it was like Platinum or something like that. This song was everywhere, cause it encapsulates that happy period of our lives when OT 2017 was on and everything was good, I can't be the only one that still tears up a bit listening to it. And in the tour!!! It was everything!!! There was this tradition of Miriam, who was the one who wrote it, getting onstage alone, and giving a speech, and right after that, everyone would come along and we would just go crazy. Oh, to go back to those days.
1. MI MÚSICA ES TU VOZ - GROUPAL
youtube
Here's the original song, by the OT 1 contestants :)
NO BUT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS SONG WAS GAMECHANGING. Like I can't even start to describe how hard this song hit, like right now, 20 years later, it's still one of the most well-known Spanish songs, people who weren't even born when OT 1 happened know this song, it's a lot. It got to number 1 in Los 40 (the Spanish Billboard Hot 100), and i'm sure it got at least Double Platinum or some insane shit like that. Keep in mind 60% of Spaniards watched the final of OT 1. Also, in 2016 they did a reunion concert after nearly 20 years, and of course they did this song. Here's a video of it, so you can see the impact that this song still has (LOOK AT HOW THE AUDIENCE SINGS IT WITH THE CONTESTANTS). Anyways, long live OT :)
#vivitalksot#operacion triunfo#ot#ot 2017#ot 1#welp this got me emotional#anyways sorry for the long ass post holy shit#but i had a lot to say sjdsjdjs#anyways i know that chenoa couldn't go cause of her contract with antena 3 and all#(which is bullshit tbh but whatever)#but it would've been so freaking cool to see bisbal and bustamante#Youtube

Uh… here’s my gal Chenoa. She has a sister named Atsee- they’re both albino twins, from the same egg. She’s an artist, while Atsee is a dancer- Chenoa is sometimes “forced” to dance with her (she finds it fun anyways)

Hello, my name is Chenoa R. I am 17 years old, in 12th grade and attend Kenwood Academy High School.
My ‘simple good’ is to be determined to work hard on something that is difficult to you, and never give up regardless of the situation because life is hard and can toward opposites at you endlessly, but when you are willing to work towards your goals and fight your obstacles; you become stronger than life itself.
My ‘simple good’ was inspired by my struggle as an artist. I struggle a lot with confidence in my artistic abilities like dancing, singing, drawing, writing, and etc; but I don’t want to let those things keep me from at least trying to get back up. Artists are capable of translating their struggles into art and make them interesting to look at, so I dedicate myself to work hard so I can be advanced with my work.
I depicted my ‘simple good’ in my photo by taking a picture of me showing my process in my split. I do not have my splits yet, but if I keep attacking my obstacles, then I will have both of my splits.
I plan on using my meaning of the ‘simple good’ to improve my community and change the world by showing the realistic progress of how an artist does their work and the lengths it takes to get there. I feel like many people tend to see the end result of a process that took years to do which can make someone feel discouraged. This is important to me because I know that no one is perfect and people tend to make mistakes and struggle, but vulnerability and discipline are a few skills to have in order to reach your goals in life.
THANK YOU!
A simple good question I would ask others is: What is your obstacle in life and how do you attack them?
