Bobbie Gentry (born July 27, 1942) is a retired American singer-songwriter. She was one of the first female artists in America to compose and produce her own material. i made a heartbreak gulch guy i wanted to share with you!! i am so obsessed with this whole universe (i made this blog literally five minutes ago expressly to message you since you can't send pics on anon lol). it's such a fun world to play in and you and your co-creator are so talented.
i wanted to have my oc be a singer, since I love the sort of "old west saloon girl (gn)" energy, and from there, I got the idea of Ramirez Robotics licensing the voices of certain musicians, the same way they do their likenesses. There are three genres of song (crooner/oldies, country, and rock) and one of each gender for six total options. I'm not a great visual artist, but I made a little fake advertisement for that model of C-Droid styled after a 50s nostalgia moment.
Anyway, that's what my little guy, Cassidy, is--he's a deluxe model who was purchased for one of those tourist-trap "saloons" out in Texas with the voice of a female country music star (like a Loretta Lynn or Bobbie Gentry type) and would headline their performances. He was built with a female body mold with wide hips, like a pixar mom. Then the saloon went under and Cassidy was kicked to the curb. Left to his own devices, he decided he wanted to get a few changes made to his body--he started by getting his chest plate swapped for a flat one by his on-again off-again mechanic boyfriend, and buying himself an accessory d*ck he could swap out at will, but by the time he'd saved enough to do things like getting his voice box altered, Ramirez had stopped making the male country model he wanted, so he stuck with his original voice and just named himself after the country star. He kind of bounced around from place to place for a few years looking for somewhere with the same vibe as his hometown until he found Heartbreak Gulch, which is where he posted up! I'm working on sketching him but rn i'm just rotating him in my mind <3
THIS IS SOOOOO SO COOL
I like, don't have any commentary other than vigorously nodding my head and pointing at you. Amazing. Beautiful. Such a good idea. Also really good username you were able to nab
Eddie had a fleeting lover in his past, one of the first other free CompanDroids he ever met, who was a transgender model B named Bruno in a similar vein as this! When Eddie knew him he hadn't had a proper flat chest piece tooled for him yet, so he proudly showed his inner mechanics where he removed his breastplate. Eddie has his own trans allegory thing going on but straight up transgender robots are so so cool conceptually.
I love this sssoooOOOOOOO MUCH thank you for sharing!

List 5 facts about a favorite sim of yours, and send this to 10 simblrs whose sims you adore ♥♥♥
𝐿𝑜𝓇𝒾 ♥️
she’s the youngest of 8 children. there’s just under a 16 year difference between her and her eldest sibling. she’s not spoken to any of them since the early 60s.
favours pop music and country music, though is also rather fond of jazz and blues. amongst her favourite artists are bobbie gentry, nancy sinatra, dusty springfield, cher, tammy wynette, the animals and the saints obviously.
she drives a 1967 chevy corvette 🚗. she purchased it herself which is something she’s proud of
basically a borderline alcoholic. i haven’t shown that side of her in my story much but man she can knock it back. she goes out to clubs most nights when she’s not working (networking queen)
also has some questionable gambling habits. goes to those shady illegal mob run card games and plays a mid game of poker before resorting to cheating at blackjack. also not so much gambling but she loves betting on horses. marco got her into it (to me he looks like someone who would own a racing horse) and since then she’ll go most weeks and she often goes together with marco <3

Year-End Poll #18: 1967
[Image description: a collage of photos of the 10 musicians and musical groups featured in this poll. In order from left to right, top to bottom: Lulu, The Box Tops, Bobbie Gentry, The Association, The Monkees, The Doors, Frank and Nancy Sinatra, The Turtles, The Young Rascals, Frankie Valli. End description]
More information about this blog here
Moving on to 1967. As mentioned in one of the previous 60's polls, we're seeing how rock and roll is continuing to shift throughout this decade. With the debut of The Doors, psychedelic rock is starting to take hold within the genre. Even beyond rock music, with acts like The Association and The Turtles, that psychedelic descriptor will start applying to pop music as well as the psychedelia subculture truly takes hold in the decade. In the classic rock canon, 1967 is considered one of the greatest years the genre has to offer. And just looking at the projects and artists that debuted this year, that reputation doesn't feel like an exaggeration. Since these polls are strictly focused on the very top of the Billboard year-end Hot 100, I won't go too much into that. But just to give you an idea, this was the debut year of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fleetwood Mac, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Sgt. Pepper, and many more. Trust me, I'm making a bunch of painful cuts from this list alone.
We're also seeing the mainstream rise of Blue-eyed soul, a term used to describe white R&B singers at the time. While originally used by radio DJ, Georgie Woods, to introduce the Righteous Brothers, the term soon expanded until now some would classify it as a genre of its own. However, to paraphrase musician, writer, and political activist, Darrell McNeill, BES is primarily a marketing term. Since he explains the phenomenon and context far better than I can, here's a link to an article where he's quoted.
Much like how yesterday's poll was marked by an important cultural moment, we have another one today. This is the first poll that has a nipple on the banner. Yay! Congratulations Jim Morrison. Spoilers: he won't be the last. But this isn't a nipple poll, so they're all winners.

Song of the Day - today is the heavenly wedding anniversary of famed songwriting duo Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, who married September 5th, 1945, exactly five days after they met. Five days.
The reason they married so easily and quickly was that Felice had had this dream, a recurring dream she’d had since she was a little girl in which she clearly saw Boudleaux Bryant and he was the love of her life in the dream, and they were dancing together. Felice said she spent the rest of her youth trying to find him.
Nineteen year old Felice was working as an elevator operator at the Schroeder Hotel in Milwaukee when one day Diadorius Boudleaux Bryant stepped into her elevator and life. As she always told it, she “recognized him immediately” after she’d “looked for him forever.”
And one of the great partnerships was born.
Over the next thirty years, Felice and Boudreaux would together write over six thousand songs, which would sell over 200 million records with various artists like Bob Dylan, Count Basie, Roy Orbison, Tony Bennett, The Beach Boys, Joan Jett, Dean Martin, Buddy Holly, Eddy Arnold, Bobbie Gentry, Gram Parsons, Sarah Vaughan, Simon & Garfunkel, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Grateful Dead, and most memorably, the Everly Brothers, for whom they wrote several of that duo’s biggest hits.
One of those, “All I Have To Do Is Dream” was one of their earliest creations, and was mostly the work of Felice, writing about dreaming about the one you love. She knew as well as anybody I’ve ever heard just exactly the power of a dream like that.
This song of theirs was recorded by the Everly Brothers and was a huge hit 65 years ago in 1958.
Happy Anniversary to Felice and Boudleaux…
“… dream, dream, dream… “

“Villiers is a New York-based writer of mysterious origins. Once a little queer kid in a house full of classical music, who loved Lee Hazlewood and Bobbie Gentry, Tori Amos and Bernard Hermann, he taught himself guitar in his teens instead of going to therapy.
In his early twenties, in a basement studio apartment in Washington DC, he started writing music. He made his way into the pedal-steel-guitar music scene across the river in Virginia, and he quietly sold a few country songs. Despite his obvious lifelong desire to avoid the spotlight, Villiers kept getting roped by music executives into songwriting sessions throughout the next decade; no stranger to shaping a powerful narrative, he was drawn over and over again to the way music excavated the deepest longing, love, turmoil, and loss.
More recently, influenced by modern queer indie artists like Perfume Genius and Anohni and the Johnsons, and processing a period in his life of crashing and burning and finding reinvention, he realized he had more stories to tell, and that it was too late to confine them to where they probably belonged (again, therapy). He makes his debut as a pop experimentalist, raw and offbeat and honest, ready to surprise anyone who thinks they might already know all that he’s about."
Here it is…much to analyze here but “desire to avoid the spotlight” made me LOL
This is the biggest load of shit. What in the pretentious Hell is this

Any country music recs? Pls n thx 🤠
I'm not really sure where your tastes lie, or which country artists you're already familiar with, so I'm just gonna throw a bit of spaghetti at the wall. A teeny tiny samply plater of wall pasta if you will:
Garth Brooks' 1991 hit Thunder Rolls is not on any streaming services I know which is a shame. (Actually, I don't think any of his music is?) But! it looks like someone recently uploaded the MV to youtube. So you can listen there.
youtube
If you vibe with blue grass, Billy Strings is killing it, rn
Patsy Cline is a legend and an icon
If you haven't already, you should listen to Bobbie Gentry's Fancy, then Reba McEntire's cover (the version I grew up on), and then Orville Peck's cover (which made me cry).
If you you like stuff a little off the beaten path and/or spooky....
O'Death is an Alt-County / Gothic Americana band that I've adored for years,
and Bugfight's a fun experimental bluegrass band that I dig.
