Thanks to Philip Maltman for showing us around his studio today. It was such a treat to gain a deeper insight into his process which sees his works made up of organised chaos, frantic mark making sometimes accidental sometimes and deliberate! Working from landscapes, these elements barely remain in the paintings. Instead the canvas is transformed into a vibrant swirl of paint with marks that are alive with a personality of their own yet invariably imbued with a sense of calm and serenity too.
