Mystery/Thriller Monday

I mostly blame the cover for why I wanted to read this initially. The copy that I read had an airplane on it, and I've enjoyed Airplane based thrillers before. What I should have paid more attention to was the actual title, Airport.

Thankfully, this is definitely a thriller, and a blizzard has socked in Lincoln International Airport outside Chicago (think a sort of O’Hare). We meet those who are dealing with not just the blizzard outside, but the airplane that is trying to land too.

Talk about the weather being a character. The blizzard is most definitely a character (and a terrifying character). For those who have been through blizzards, you’ll be nodding along at some points (or possibly having slight flashbacks), and for those who haven’t, where do you live and how many libraries are there? Is it always warm? Just kidding.

In all seriousness though, I enjoyed this book. It was published back in 1968, so, there were a lot of differences with modern airport procedure, etc. But, I really enjoyed the characters (those who I was rooting for and those I was rooting against), and, there was just so much thrown at them because of this horrible storm.
