When I think about it, I'm pretty sure Darkos and Bog King would get along too, maybe even better than Bog and Arthur. Darkos doesn't seems like someone, who judge others by their appearence, after all he grew up with Maltazard and Seides; for him Bog probably looks completly normal. I think they could get closer because of their relationships with their dads. If I remember correctly, in "Strange Magic" it's never mentioned what happened with Bog father. Did he died or abandoned Griselda? Or maybe Bog's parents are divorced? Was he around, when the Bog was a kid, or not? Whatever their story is, I think Bog may have miss him, at least sometimes. Even if he never had a chance to meet his father, he probably saw traditional families and wondered, how would it be, if he had one. If he had a dad... If Bog heard Darkos's story, I think he would feel pity for him, and understood Darkos desire to be loved by Maltazard. If Bog's father was around when he grew up, I don't know if he was a good dad or not, but I think anyway Darkos could relate with Bog King's feelings about him.

Oh, and they are both skillfull warriors, who seems to enjoy fighting with worthy opponent. I'm sure they would love to spar with each other.

I think someone really should make a crossover of "Strange Magic" and "Arthur and the Minimoys". If Marianne and Selenia would met, they totally would become BFFs. After all, they are both tiny warrior princesses, who prefers swordfight, have a sharp tongues and love very much their men. And Arthur and Bog King? They're have less in common, but I think they would get along. They both have heart to fight (although I think Bog may be a better warrior, especially when Arthur doesn't use his magic sword), and love their women very much. That's something they both can respect in each other. Also, Arthur befriended Darkos, so I'm sure he wouldn't judge Bog's appearence, so that also could help them bond. I hope someone will see it too and made a fic or fanart with that crossover. It seems here on Tumblr "Strange Magic" has pretty strong and active fandom, but I can't say the same about Arthur trilogy. I wonder, why, these are great movies too. Also they got way better promotion than "Strange Magic", and based on this franchise has been made two good PC games, figures, an animated series and horror spin-off (both awful, but at least they have been made, while "Strange Magic" don't have no continuation, no spin-off, no official toys, nothing). But still it seems like most of the people here don't know about these movies or don't wanna made fanarts, fanfics or anything. It's kinda weird. Oh, wait, I started rambling again and changing the subject, sorry.

Princess Selenia is Ginny, she's a red head and just her personality.

And because Selenia Is the true heroine of Arthur and the Minimoys and because She helped Arthur to defeat Maltazard and in the end of fourth book, Arthur and Darkos give the piece of chocolate cake to thank you at Selenia.

I've recently watched all those movies and I have to be honest. Those are worse than bad. Not because they're terrible but because there was so much potential and with just a little bit of tweaks these could've been good movies if not one of the best ever.

They all suffer from similar problems.

Pacing! Somehow it feels like a million things are happening and nothing is progressing in terms of the plot and characters.

This relates to the previous one. The creators had so many ideas and they want to show them, but despite being very nice and interesting they just don't fit with the movie. Save it for the sequel or an animated series.

Comic reliefs that aren't funny, are useless and just take away the screen time from what is actually important.

Over complicated and contradicting world-building.

Exposition! It's usually pointless, obvious, or should've been interwoven into a story.

How Maltazard used to be a hero but after a massive win streak he began drinking, partying and make out with someone he shouldn't and presumably more, Darkos has to come from somewhere, and now he's cursed and banished.

Mandrake hates balance. We never find out why that is. He loves his son Dagda but we get like two scenes with them together before Dagda dies. It's for the sake of the plot. Mandrake has many opportunities to destroy the pod and win but doesn't because it can apparently bring back/replace(?) his son.

Bog is the least evil. He just wants to make sure no more love potion is ever made because it didn't work for him.

Now to the ranking:

1. Strange Magic is a guilty pleasure. It's a rom-com musical. It's probably the worst of all when it comes to the story and characters but it's just dumb fun.

2. Epic is so nostalgic to me. It was one of my first DVDs. I used to watch it religiously. Now I usually just watch it until MK is turned small. That's when everything goes downhill.

3. Arthur and the Minimoys trilogy is probably the worst because you have to sit through 3 movies and not 1. The middle one is completely skippable besides the beginning and the reveal at the end. Anything not relevant to the villains is boring to me.

One day we may finally have a good movie in the style of Lord of The Rings about tiny forest people. With a TV series that explores the world in an orderly fashion just like HTTYD.

We have to have hope.

I guess it was a popular trend in the late 2000S and early 2010s.

Maltazard from Arthur and the Minimoys trilogy or Arthur and the Invisibles trilogy (2006, 2009 and 2010). I guess the American distributor didn't want people to mistake the movies for the Minions, and changed the name.

Arthur And The Invisibles (2006)

Directed by Luc Besson

After being magically shrunken by a group of giant black dudes, a young boy discovers a hidden race of tiny beings called Minimoys. They team up to reclaim his grandfather's rubies from a weak-sauce despot.

Depending on my recollection of a movie, I give it the courtesy of rewatching before reviewing, but I couldn't put myself through this trash again. As such, the details are hazy but what I am sure of is that this thing blew.

The movie starts off as live-action then alternates between 3d animation once Arthur enters the Minimoy world. This would've been peachy if the creative direction wasn't ass. Characters fell in one of three visual categories: generic, hideous, and "what the fuck is that?" When your characters be lookin' like used q-tips or like they've been sculpted from turds, going back to the drawing board isn't a recommendation, it's a must. Honestly, from the moment I saw the look of this tiny world, I pretty much checked out as I have a very limited attention span for "ugly".

Everyone was as bland and unappealing as could be, the worst offender of them all being Darkos. The double-whammy of his heavy lisp and dimwittedness, had me all types of annoyed; definitely a low point in Jason Bateman's career.

The dullness was exacerbated by uninspired voice acting. Name recognition might get people in the door, but you aren't doing anyone any favors with crap execution. I will single out Fredde Highmore for saving this film from the brink of atrocity. Both his on-screen and voice work injected some much needed charisma. Sadly, his contributions weren’t enough to compensate for the scourge on my Saturday afternoon.

Amazingly this yielded a number of sequels; rest assured, I will not be partaking in them.
