realized i never posted this fill for the bloodweave brainrot spring artfic swap! they wanted fluff, so i concocted this scenario in which astarion had begrudgingly agreed to help in the kitchen.

gale is infodumping about how astarion's ice cold hands are perfect for not melting the butter.

The Stray: A Bloodweave Short Story

Here's an excerpt from The Stray, which I wrote for the Bloodweave Brainrot Spring Fling Artfic Swap. My prompts were cute, domestic fluff with cats! (And body worship) <3 *

They’re interrupted by Karlach’s excited yelling — “Here we go!” — then the room is counting down to midnight.

“Five!”

Astarion laughs and takes Gale’s other hand.

“Four!” Gale’s heart is pounding again as Astarion looks at him, smiling.

“Three!”

Gale clings to Astarion’s cool fingers, uncertain, worried he’s misreading the situation.

“Two!”

Astarion’s smile fades and he bites his lower lip, sending desire shooting through the pit of Gale’s stomach.

“One! Happy New Year!”

They’re jostled by the crowd and it seems like the moment is broken as they both turn, laughing, taking in the other couples kissing around them.

But then Astarion’s gaze is back on Gale. “Happy New Year,” he murmurs in a low voice.

“Happy New Year,” Gale repeats dumbly. He wants to kiss Astarion so very much but he doesn’t know if it’s appropriate. The man had said he has a boyfriend, even if it’s obvious the boyfriend is a complete shithead. He’s clearly vulnerable, it wouldn’t be right to make a move-

“Seems a shame not to get a New Year’s kiss,” Astarion's voice is still low and he’s still maintaining eye contact. 

“Quite,” whispers Gale in return. “...May I?” * >> Read the whole story here <<

# THE GENERAL CHANGES

Five Pebbles had gotten the pearl from Sliver Of Straw, but Sliver Of Straw had sent it as a unsure test. Since it succeeded (seeing as Five Pebbles ascends), Sliver Of Straw tried to replicate the instructions from memory as the pearl was still with the dead Five Pebbles.

Looks To The Moon made a friendly Slugcat since she didn't think it was needed to make a Slugcat that was hostile for the mission to No Significant Harassment.

Nightcat and Hunter are siblings. Nightcat and Hunter were exploring instead of with their family when Nightcat had fell down into the drain thingy in Outer Expanse, with Hunter diving in after him; thus doing the whole Monk and Survivor thing but with no family.

Artificer can still have her mouth, because the pearl is just inside their chest instead of being stored in their stomach. And Artficer is less hostile.

Spearmaster was holding a pearl before being mercilessly stabbed by the scavs, leaving a giant scar where the originally wound was, since then, Spearmaster declared a war of extermination on the scavs.

Enot, though still hunting for love, is bound by the her fate of being the triple affirmative. Forced by the cycle to ascend everything in her path against her will, Enot still may not find love.

Saint, not wanting to love anything, has to 'find a mate, or die' despite them not wanting to. Spoilers, they die.

Gourmand wishes to return home, but outer expanse is gone, collapsed. Along the way they meet NSH and SOS, thinking SOS's heart is a large pearl.

Rivulet is a lone traveller that comes across the colony of Slugcats in Outer Expanse, and stays with the colony temporarily.

Chasing wind made an explosive Slugcat likely for the reason the original Seven Red Suns did.
