Mother Earth in Paris is the latest art installation by Pınar&Viola shown in Gleichapel Gallery in Paris, as part of ArtCOP21, the art events surrounding the ecology summit COP21. The exhibition features an installation that unveils revamped, contemporary, environmentalist messages of peace. Their highly aesthetic, visual activism offers an irresistible invitation for a more truthful and humane future. Through a video installation, the main protagonist in the video, ‘Mother Earth’ reveals her grace and wisdom on a screen surrounded by stylistic and conceptual imagery depicting healing plants. This methodology celebrates the value and wisdom of these plants, seeing them as humankind’s ultimate natural remedy.

Climate Revolution

The climate revolution is the global transition to a clean energy, low-carbon future, saying “yes” to life. What’s good for our planet is also good for human beings—especially the smallest and most vulnerable ones. Host Arjin Claire interviews author Mary DeMocker about climate change and discusses her book, The Parents Guide to Climate Revolution. Mary advocates for blocking a new fracking operation which helps the climate, and also protects our kids’ drinking water from hundreds of chemicals that fracking injects into groundwater. Cultivating awe in nature makes children more likely to protect it, but it also makes them happier people. Reducing materialism is good for the planet and family budgets and closet-space, but it’s also good for our souls. Planting trees captures carbon.  Arjin reads the chapter, The Gift of Nature by Cynthia Brian from the book, Be the Star You Are! Millennials to Boomers Celebrating Gifts of Positive Voices in a Changing Digital World, which offers ways we can save our planet and our population. Listen to the scientists. BIO: Mary De Mocker

Mary DeMocker’s book, The Parents’ Guide to Climate Revolution: 100 Ways to Build a Fossil-Free Future, Raise Empowered Kids, and Still Get a Good Night’s Sleep (foreword by Bill McKibben) is a 2019 Oregon Book Award finalist and has been recommended on NPR and in The New York Times. DeMocker is co-founder and former creative director of 350 Eugene, with whom she designed and co-led youth-centered climate protests featured on PBS NewsHour, ArtCOP21, and in an Avaaz video shown to world leaders at Paris climate talks. She has written for The Sun, Spirituality & Health, EcoWatch, Sierra, The Oregonian, and Common Dreams. El arte y el cambio climático llegan al Festival Mundial ARTCOP21

El Festival de Cine Medioambiental "Earth in Focus" que se realizará en el Teatro de la Universidad Finis Terrae los días 21 y 22 de Octubre, forma parte de la programación de este movimiento global en el marco de la COP21

Desde septiembre a diciembre de este año se llevará a cabo ARTCOP21, un festival global de actividades culturales entorno al cambio climático, realizado en el marco de la 21a Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Climático o COP21 en Paris.

ARTCOP21 apuesta a sensibilizar y entusiasmara ciudadanos de todo el mundo respecto a la urgencia, valor y oportunidades que se presentan para avanzaren la transición hacia una economía verde y sustentable.

El evento conecta a cientos de miles de personas de todo el mundo al desafío de frenar el cambio climático a través de un extenso programa de más de 220 grandes eventos que incluyen exhibiciones, conciertos, teatro, conferencias, talleres, entre otras actividades.

De Chile, el Festival de Cine medioambiental Earth in Focus - que incluye expositores, cine y talleres entorno a temáticas medioambientales- es hasta ahora la única actividad que participará de ARTCOP21.

La agenda de COP21 es principalmente científica y política, sin embargo, ARTCOP21 permitirá la integración de distintas disciplinas artísticas para visibilizarla preocupación global respecto a la gravedad del cambio climático.

Earth in Focus

El festival de cine medioambiental Earth in Focus mezcla cine, expositores, y talleres con el fin promover el  pensamiento crítico sobre la importancia de proteger la naturaleza, e inspirar a que las personas se transformen en agentes de cambio.

El festival se realizará en el teatro de la Universidad Finis Terrae losdías 21 y 22 de Octubre a partir de las 17:00 horas, y en él se estrenará una selección de las mejores películas medioambientales del último año, como The Little Things , una entretenida película sobre el cambio climático y como la comunidad del snowboard decide tomar acciones concretas para reducir su impacto desde lo individual a lo colectivo.

También se mostrará el mediometraje Brooklyn Farmer, inspirador documental que muestra los huertos orgánicos urbanos en los techos de Nueva York como una alternativa viable de fuente productiva y laboral. Además estará el cortometraje The Important Places, un inspirador y emotivo relato de un joven que narra la historia de su padre, su relación con el río Colorado y la importancia de proteger los lugares naturales.

Y por último, Trash, Manufactured, cortometraje acerca de la problemática del plástico en los océanos y como un grupo de personas decide abordarla.

Al mismo tiempo, el evento contará con la participación de expositores invitados como Tamo Campos, activista medioambiental y snowboarder profesional canadiense;  Emiliano De La Maza, Diseñador Industrial que ha trabajado construyendo huertos urbanos en Santiago junto a la ONG Plantabanda. Ambos dictarán talleres gratuitos durante la jornada del 23 de octubre en la misma universidad.
