The Weight of Paper

"I come from sitting cross-legged on empty park benches, from the back row, from neglected corner tables, and deserted swing sets.

From playgrounds and laying flat inside the slide, so I could stare up at the clouds with no one watching, and forget that my soul is caged inside my body, and that my body is tied down by gravity."

If you don't feel like reading something weighty, I suggest you turn back now, I won't be offended:

I'm going to be writing a book of poetry over the next year, and sharing bits of it online.  I make no promises as to if and when it will be released to the public.  It contains a lot that I feel extremely uncomfortable showing the world, even those that think they truly know all of me.  But that is exactly what is driving me to show it to people.  I have a great desire to become more honest.  And I fully recognize the possibility that this honesty has the potential to offend a lot of people, and possibly negatively impact some people's opinions of me.  

I ask that if you have something negative to say about what I post that you message me, and don't post it in public.  This poetry is an art form, as well as an expression and so is completely subjective.   Therefore if you want to tell me something I write is "wrong", I will probably ignore you.  But if you care to tell me how something effected you, I am happy to listen.

For those that enjoy poetry as an art form, I hope that what I post over the next year can serve in opening your mind to just another individual who is trying to make sense of life.  I have no disillusions about trying to inspire people, but pursue this from a place of wanting to find rest for my soul, and to wear the same face to everyone.

I suggest you take this purely for what I've said it is, and don't read into it or freak out in any way.  I hope you find the poetry I write enlightening (if not to life in general, at least to my character), and pray that you'll receive it with grace and open mindedness.

Have a splendid afternoon.  And as soon as you finish reading this go outside, because the weather is marvelous.
