Last week sparc! the ArtMobile teamed up with Transformative Culture Project, April’s Arts & Culture, The Museum of Fine Arts, and Grove Hall Public Library to launch our largest free #ART2GO bag give away yet! 

Over 250 bags were given away in two and a half days at three locations. It took a lot of hands to assemble the supplies but teamwork made the dream work! Even the chilly, windy weather did not slow us down! There were lots of smiles and gratitude for ART2GO, a project that invites people of all ages to tap into their creativity.

JANUARY SPOTLIGHT sparc! the ArtMobile's Holiday Art2Go Bags

Over the holidays sparc! the ArtMobile distributed 100 Art2go bags full of watercolor sets, blank cards, stickers and more at the Roxbury YMCA!

Community partner, Project R.I.G.H.T. and the Roxbury YMCA After School program, worked together to host close to 100 kids for the Christmas vacation week. The bags were full of creative goodies to help children and families create their own special New Year’s Day and Holiday Cards!

Wellness Event Recap

sparc! had an amazing time at the Grove Hall Wellness Event Last Friday. So many people joined sparc! the ArtMobile to create beautiful heart magnets and grab Art2Go bags.

The energy was incredible, and it was so special to see everyone come together around art, health, and community. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by—your creativity made the day unforgettable! A special shout out to Stop & Shop for hosting such a joy-filled day

Art2Go with sparc!

Happy Black History Month! Last week, sparc! the ArtMobile celebrated Love and Black History at the Grove Hall and Roxbury Public Libraries, by delivering Free Art2Go kits, featuring DIY Collage keychain and heart magnet art activities. Each kit contains collage materials, heart and butterfly cut outs, scissors, glue, our recycled material keychain bases, wooden magnet hearts and instructions. Marielys and Kasume, students from the John D. O'Bryant School of Math & Science are the first to take part. Supplies are limited. Get yours now!

Holiday Art2Go

Yesterday, sparc! the ArtMobile delivered Art2Go kits to the Grove Hall Library. 📚✨  

We are sharing our “Make your Own Keychain”  activity and our brand new sparc! journals! This project is part of the Library’s “Make your Own Holiday Gift” workshop on Dec. 16th and the 20th.

The Grove Hall Library has lots of wonderful holiday events coming up, make sure to check them out.

sparc! Virtual Paint Night: Jean-Michel Basquiat

Last week sparc! hosted its first Virtual Paint Night! It was so good to be in community with and experience the creative energies of our attendees. Isabelle Higgins, our featured artist, led us in painting Jean-Michel Basquiat’s portrait. 

Thank you to our longtime partner Project R.I.G.H.T., Inc. for working with us to organize this first ever Virtual Paint Night! Big thanks also goes to The Grove Hall Library for printing materials + helping to distribute the art2go bags of supplies from sparc! the ArtMobile.

Savor the Square with sparc! and MAAM

We love any opportunity to celebrate and enjoy our beloved Nubian Sq. community! Savor the Square gave us a chance to do just that! It was a beautiful sunny day full of joy, artmaking, and colorful fabrics. The Sq was filled with vendors, music you could dance to, and delicious food. 

sparc! the ArtMobile and the MassArt Art Museum @maamboston teamed up to offer a journal decorating activity with capulana fabric, inspired by MAAM’s exhibit, “Valkyrie Mumbet”, by Joana Vasconcelos. People also got creative with stickers, decorative tape and ribbons!

Our Art2Go bags were popular that day! We distributed around 50 bags with coloring sheets of Nubian square, MAAM capulana bookmarks, colored pencils, and more!

Sunday Art in Franklin Park - ART2GO

This Sunday, come celebrate Dr. Elma Lewis’ 100th birthday with art in Franklin Park! sparc! the ArtMobile’s ART2GO Bags will be there with a Franklin Park Zoo theme - lots of FREE art supplies and materials, while supplies last (first come, first served).

 Sunday Art in Franklin Park - Sunday, July 18 (12-3pm) - featuring some of Boston’s most talented, mature, Black artists. The picnic grove just outside the Franklin Park Zoo will be transformed into an outdoor art studio! Come watch senior masters at work, interact, and admire their canvases.

BPL @ Grove Hall in Color

Let’s meet some of our amazing partners for Grove Hall in Color Back to School! The Boston Public Library and more specifically the Grove Hall branch has been a long term partner. The children and teen librarians, Angela and Celia, are committed to expanding youths' access to books, art, and learning. 

For our back to school event last year they were able to donate the book Dear Martin by Nic Stone to sparc! the ArtMobile’s ART2GO Knapsacks. This made our giveaway even more expansive! This year the Library will be handing out lots of books for all to take home!!

We are excited to be partnering with Grove Hall Library again for our September event.
