Holiday Shopping PSA

It’s that time of the year again were I write one of these to remind old and new shoppers to be careful where and on what they spend their money on this holiday season.

Regardless of what you celebrate or don’t celebrate it’s always nice to give a gift to either yourself or someone you care about, but it’d be a huge bummer to later find out what you got them was actual bootleg or stolen art.

To start I always tell those that are interested in buying from an artist to go check out their social media and see where exactly do they sell their work. That is always the best way to make sure you get your art from the actual artist. Try to find a direct link as well. Most are in bios, pinned posts, or other posts were they promote their store/website.

If you can’t find a direct link see if their DMs are open or send them an Ask/Tweet at them (delete once you get your answer though). Now if this artist’s store is closed or if they don’t sell to people that is not an invitation to look elsewhere for their work or to print it out yourself! Please respect the artist wishes/schedule and look for another gift option.

Try to avoid shopping for art on sites like Amazon, Wish, Ebay, and Aliexpress UNLESS the artist has specifically said that is where they sell. Most of the time these sites are riddled with stolen work and at a very cheap price so it can be hard to not to take that deal, but don’t. Artist’s, for the most part, are the little guy in this situation. We are having our work taken by bigger companies and given almost no power to fight back. Our art is not free to use or part of the public domain!

Be careful when shopping on Etsy and Redbubble as well. Stolen works can also be found there too. Once again try to find a direct link to the artist store and if you can’t Google their name or search for one of the items they do sell. Just make sure to triple check that the person whose store you are looking at if the artist and not someone just selling their art.

I know it can be hard because sometimes you just see something online you want and don’t put too much thought into whether the listing for it on Amazon is stolen or not, but all I can ask if that people try. Tell friends and families about where they can find artists you like and their stores. Report any stolen listings you find and possibly contact the artist if possible about them. We artist want to keep making fun and creative works for you all to enjoy whether you buy them or not, but we can’t keep giving while our art is stolen and sold for so little by a complete stranger. We need your help too!

If you have bought or received bootleg/stolen art in the past you don’t need to feel guilty. It’s okay that you didn’t know at the time or whoever got you the gift didn’t know. That’s in the past, but right now you can change for the better. Show the artist you love the upmost respect by becoming a safer shopper this holiday season or informing others about the does and don’ts of shopping for art.

For those possibly reading this and thinking that this isn’t a huge issue and that losing out on just a little bit of money couldn’t hurt...it does and it is.

Over the course of just this year I have had to report over 100 stolen listings on just Amazon alone. I have also had to continually look out for stolen works on Etsy, Redbubble, Wish, and Mercari. I have had counter claims sent to me I’ve had to fight, all the while being in student debt. I’m unable to even report the stolen works I’ve found on Ebay and Aliexpress because those sites have made it nearly impossible for a single artist like myself to file a report. This is and has always been a problem and it’s not one artists should just get used to.

I hope this PSA helps some people learn how to shop better this holiday season and reflects the struggle artists sometimes have to go through.

Rain World AUs

The Frostrot - one of my biggest projects so far. I'm a co-owner of the au, original creator is @dvepalki, a good friend of mine. I'm helping him out with storyline, worldbuilding, slugcat(and other animals in general) designs, and some iterators designs! Whole plot revolves around the idea of dystopia and iterators mostly going off-string and creating own countries, with more evolved, aka anthro, scugs and scavs as citizens, after Ancients mysteriously perish. #the frostrot - main tag for this au, all the content for it could be found here Dreamscape - my personal main AU, that's based mostly on my mental shit, like sleeping patterns, traumas and ext. Currently being actively developed. Instead of seeking a way to get out of The Cycle, Ancients wanted to achieve any kind of immortality, and that's how Dreamscape was created, a wast digital mainframe, that could give you digital immortality. Iterators taking care of their creators, divided in local servers of Dreamscape. At some point, from unfortunate event, Sliver of Straw dies, and Nightmares manifests, and from here everything starts to crumble down. #rw dreamscape - main tag for this au, all the content for it could be found here Bug in a Maze - my secondary personal AU, based on concept of fact that war never changes. I have been dealing with online bullshit since I was first on the internet as a child. I’ve had people come and go on the internet but there’s some that just can’t seem to get the hint to leave. One of them being one of people who helped write that recent doc about me. I haven’t read that doc and don’t play to but from what little I did see people mention about it it’s both surprising and unsurprising. I mean keeping shit I said as a child that I apologized for that is atleast 6 or 8 years old that I didn’t do a repeat of to prove that I’ve been a horrible person?? What level of distain and hatred do you have to be to pull this?? I know who it was too, they’ve been a problem in my online life for so long. As a adult now I can see how in the wrong I was for what I said and what my reactions were, but like all of those who say they are my victims, to paint the picture that I was the sole problem is leaving out so so so much. There is so much left out to paint me as this non-human and it hurts. It’s scary. This person for years due to being a minor and having clear ignorance and having mental illnesses was on and off in contact and complacent with my online stalker. The person who for more than 10 years stalked all of my socials, told me to kill myself multiple times, has called me several slurs and so on. It’s been HELL online for me due to this stalker and them. They have gone on livestreams and videos with this stalker to call me retarted. To trace and color over my art and claim they drew it. To secretly stalk my socials. The only times this didn’t happen was when I played nice and told them I’ll be there friend. But even then that wasn’t enough beca when the doc a year ago dropped they played dumb to me in dms and on voice call as if thy didn’t write that doc. Hearing my panic in my voice because I had no one else to be on call with to make sure I didn’t hurt myself. They even lied in my dms claiming the art thieft 2 or 4 years ago was due to their older brother only for Jade to claim it was a alter of theirs.

I’d never been interested of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” franchise nor planning of getting some games on either consoles. That said, it still remain popular to fans and young kids who grown up liking an horror-style series; especially when digging through so many lores. So on behalf; especially for its movie adaptation now on theaters since yesterday, thought I’d bringing for today’s Inktober share that I’m thankfully finished in time.

Gotta hand for having a Maxwell animatronic drawing concept. Really bring out his sinister look if he was a soul of a crazed rabbit kid; to put out for revenge on bullies who messing with him after stuffing on the animatronic’s mouth. Too much, though?

(BTW, I originally wanted to add more of the animatronics for Maxwell’s other friends. Due to time constraints, I’d rather have just one for my main rabbit character.)

I heard about this now and I'm really sorry that this happened to you, Eileen. I'm shocked that Brian had blocked you after you were informing him about Nenu and trying to make him understand about art thieft and scams.

Thank you for all your support, folks. I am completely heartbroken and I’ve never been so disappointed in my whole life, Brian has lost all the respect I had for him, and I won’t consider current!Brian anymore.

I will keep creating for Queen but I’ll reduce Brian’s presence at the bare minimum in my creations. He doesn’t deserve any praise for how he’s treating the art community as a whole, silencing artists and supporting art theft and scams as long as they’re pretty and just feed his own ego. I’m sorry, I respect many things he did in the past but this ain’t it. At this point he made me wonder if he ever cared about genuine artworks.
