I'm glad you like it! Very much enjoyed the description of your reaction! I was really pushing for poster vibes by the end of it. Getting a little inspiration vortex going would be fun.
Like with how much I talked it up, it has no right to actually live up to the praise I've given it, but it still does :) Don't know how I managed that.
That is Nyx's PAK. I didn't know what sorta damage it got so I just went like she's basically a symabolic ghost in this anyway so it should be fine to just like give it cracks and a few stray wires.
Intially the plan was to have her and Miyuki fade into the background a bit more with their glowing eyes/PAKs being the main thing to draw attention to them. With maybe legacy repeating behind the Tallest in irken a bunch. Then I wanted to add Red and Purple mostly for self indulgent reasons. Then I saw the post about Zim being responsible for Callie's death and her love for the earth and I was like this goes in too.
That was ABSOLUTELY the feeling I was going for with Zim! I'm glad it conveyed so well. Actually you pointed out all the feelings I was really going for so I must of done something right.
Miyuki's pose made thing just feel really loopsided for a while and there was nothing really infront of her, like how Zim and Nyx were infront of the Tallest. Which was definitely symbolic at that point. So couldn't just like flip them or anything to see if that would help. I struggled there for a bit.
Then I really struggled with Lard Nar. I couldn't figure out how to pose him or anything. He had a chair for a bit. But it just didn't fit and the perpective was off and I just started on the line art and colors of Callie and Laska to not deal with him.
But I was like if I'm adding Lard Nar and Zim has a planet... Why not add Vort? Red's just waving anyway and I don't even need to redraw his hand to just make it look like he's holding a planet. So I probed you and Verm about your thoughts on the planet and smashed them together with mine. Boom! Rough sketch for it.
If both Lard Nar (the designer) and Miyuki (the comissioner) are in this then the Massive is a MUST. (I shrunk it later cause I was trying to unloopsidify the drawing. This was a constant and continuing struggle throughout.)
Thyme's bow. I have a character with a ribbon as a tie and one in her hair. I have drawn her more then anything else and that is why this bow was pretty easy for me.
Laska was super easy. Easiest aside from Zim right up until I had to shade her face. Then I could not for the life of me figure it out. There was a point where I had Callie and Thyme fully lined, colored, and shaded (and had figured out what to do with Lard Nar) where her face shadows were in a totally different style cause I just couldn't.
Doing the line art in Vectors honestly was the best decision I made for all of this. Though it did make me realize that while I hadn't really used Vectors in clip before for I kept expecting to morph lines like I did in sai and was very confused for a while.
I have drawn the Tallest a few hundred times at this point. Mostly stopped myself from finishing them out right first as a reward for myself(I love them). Look at that little bitchy hand Red's got on his chest. Cocky fucker.
Moving along.
First time I actually really tried drawing Miyuki. Her head and colors was a bit of a pain, but she came out great. Just a lotta line work and I was too distracted by everything else to get her done for a while.
My favorite part with her is that arm she's snaking around her back to grab at Callie.
The Massive took like three(?) days. Don't normally draw props or ships it was pretty fun though. Couldn't find a ref for a full side view so I used three angles I found on google. This is only notiable cause I really really struggle getting myself to use references. I think that's been getting a bit better since I started drawing fanart, but still.
Now Vort. Very fun to do. Very much a struggle. I experimented like crazy with this planet and it's moons. And honestly I don't even know how I got the moons like that. They were green and blue. Then they were orange and purple. Then some how I got a really cool texture on the minty one after messing with posterization and I couldn't replicate it on the others. Vort still looked off.
Those three days I was working on the Massive I was still working on other parts of the drawing to just keep up progress. When I worked on Vort. I only worked on Vort. (And Zim a tiny bit cause Earth was on the same layer and I moved it and the moon so he lost his fingers at one point.) Took two(?) days.
This is around the time saving started taking a while and I was sure it I even touched clip while it was saving it would crash. And while it didn't respond a few times I didn't have to find out if that was true.
Eventually I just I think Wave Distorted it and upped the tolerence on my selection tool to block out some of the more blended colors that were bugging me. Skipping over a lot of fuckery here but yeah. It turned out well.
Used a bit of what I learned from Vort on Earth, straight up stole and rotated one of it's moons and add atmospheres to things.
Background took a bit too. I knew what I wanted out of it and didn't know how to get there. There was a lot of trial and error. So so many layers. But it turned out better then expected.
This was honestly a lot more process stuff then anything else, but still. I wanted to write it out. It was a lot of fun and I really pushed skills. Plus like I stayed focused on something for over a week with out dropping and forgetting about it. So this is kinda a huge win for me. Makes me much more confident about drawing comics in the future.
Oh, and character interaction! Another breakthrough with this piece (possible the few before it too) I've never really been able to draw characters physically interacting or like reacting to each other before. Don't know why it. I just never could seem to get over that hurdle before so this is pretty major. Not only having so many character in it, but conveying what I want them to and not looking super stiff! Fantastic!
It is done! Here we got @spacegoathours Mina's ocs; Callie, Nyx, Thyme, and Laska with Lard Nar, Zim and three of the Tallest. Vort, Earth and the Massive. (I hope you like it!)
I went hard with this.
I was gonna draw 777 all week and instead I had a NEED to get this out. And it came out amazing! So thrilled! Very proud!
Imma come back and add more text later. Sleep is needed now.

do u have a twitter? bcs i think if u do commission, twitter also can be a great place as alternative platform to reach more people for your arts
nah, I don't really want to go anywhere near that site, my mental health would not be able to handle it lmao. It's that awful IMO.
In fact, pretty much everyone I know IRL who had twitter/has it, doesn't use it anymore/much at all. They all got fed up with how toxic it can get, with the fastest quitting (and I'm not even kidding lol) was after five minutes. I think they had to make one for job purposes (voluntary thing, not mandatory), but pretty quickly figured that nope. Not doing that, no.
(I watched this play out in real time back then, and it was so funny)
I do have an Insta, but I don't really like how the size thing is limited and the algorithm quickly kills engagement apparently (its gotten worse than what it was too, from what I've heard from regular Insta users) so I post there only every now and then.
The commission thing isn't really urgent for me either ultimately, its just there as an option for anyone interested, as I've had people ask about it in the past. Also RN I'm not surprised if I don't get any, the inflation happening in Europe is pretty crazy. (I'd assume majority of my comissioners would be from here, given I'm asking for euros)
#answered anon#I legitimately know if I tried to use Twitter my mental health would take a nose dive instantly#just seeing Twitter's nonsense filtered through tumblr does it sometimes#Tumblr might be a hellsite but its SO MUCH EASIER to filter things out you don't wanna see#Apparently twitter will still push crap on you no matter what#so I refuse to go anywhere near that place lol

Blacksad: Somewhere In the Shadows Review
Hello you beautiful people! I have a WEIRD relationship with Noir. It’s weird because i’ve never really dived into the films of type, though I really should, But as a kid I absolutely LOVED the tracer bullet arcs in Calvin and Hobbes, where everyone’s favorite hyperactive and imaginative six year old would plant himself as the hero in a noir pastiche.. ironically like myself Bill Watterson was also not a huge noir buff and just relied on Cliches but hey, it worked.
Still love these. So from fourth grade on it imprinted a lifelong love of a good bit of detective noir. Not enough to you know, get me to read any traditional noir books or watch any noir tv shows or detective procedurals but I still love a good mystery from time to time and some of my favorite comics such as Howard the Duck by Chip Zdarksy and Peter David’s second run on x-factor run on the genre while having fun with it’s cliches.
I also love anthropormphic animal stories. Dunno why, I just do, so once I found out about Blacksad, a comic that combines disney quality art from a former disney animator with gripping, adult noir that rips your heart out... I couldn’t resisit trying it. Telling the tale of John Blacksad, a cynical private detective and the cases he steps into via gorgeous, straight out of a disney storyboard art, the series is by Juan Díaz Canales (writer) and Juanjo Guarnido (artist), the latter a former Disney artist who worked on several Disney films, meeting in the 90′s while working on licensed works and hitting it off, leading to this series. That’s.. really all I could find about the making of the series in English. The only other fact is the series is designed for first release in France, which has a huge comics market, hence the various volumes being called “Albums”, with them later being released in Spain and then english, currently in the latter through Dark Horse Comics, who last year collected the current 5 albums and some side stories into one big volume. And with Dark Horse having infrequent sales including Blacksad on comixology it’s easy enough to pick up all 5 volumes in one complete package on digital for 9 bucks, as it is right now. Seriously I’m not trying to shill for Comixology or Dark Horse, I just love these comics and suggest picking them up. The creators DO intend on new volumes... it’s just both have been busy with other work so they’ve been stuck in development hell since 2013. However given there have always been, if much smaller, the biggest being 5 years, gaps between the Albums, I don’t think the series is dead quite yet and with Dark Horse fully backing it, taking the series from only two volumes getting translated to both translating the first four AND translating the fifth within a year of it’s release, we’ll undoubtly get the next one quickly. The series has also spawned a game, Under the Skin, which i’ll probably also cover some day as i’m dying to play it, but i’m waiting for a sale because it’s around 30 bucks and I can wait. It’s also been nominated for an Eisner three times to no suprise and has had fans in Stan Lee, Jim Steranko, Tim Sale and Will freaking Eisner. Yes the GUY the awards were named after liked the series. So yeah, I love this series and highly support it, but the thought of covering it hadn’t occrued to me.. in part because I already had three comic retrsopectives going, my looks at The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, Scott Pilgrim and New X-Men, and simply because I just hadn’t thought of it till Kevin, frequent patron and comissioner of the blog whose paid for tons of reivews, suggested covering the second Album, Arctic Nation, which has our hero searching for a missing little girl he feels has been taken by the titular white supramacist movement.. and if your wondering “Wait how the fuck does that work their animals”, John is black coded due to his black fur, while the white suprmacists are all Arctic Animals.. a touch I really like as I’d honestly never thought of that as a metaphor but it fits like a glove, especially given that most white furred arctic mamals are pretty agressive looking. So yeah I’ll be covering that one next month for Black History Month, among many other things, but I felt I wanted to cover the series in order and since again, it’s only the second of five and I had a free space on the schedule. So without further adew, join me somewhere in the shadows and under the cut as we enter the world of one John Blacksad.
We open as you’d expect for a Noir with a heady narration and a murder. John was brought in by Smirnov, the chief of police and an old aquantice who serves as his Commissioner Gordon. Since the victim is John’s ex, he was brought in to see if he knows anything and as you’d expect warned not to look into it further, as John dosen’t buy this was a simple robbery. His response is exactly what you’d expect.
I mean.. what did you expect? You called him out of bed to see his former lovers corpse, KNOWING he’s one hell of detective, dosen’t give up on things easy, and would probably be curious. For him to say “Cool gonna go smoke some reefer and take in a looney tunes short at the theater, call me when you find the murderer?” Also this series takes place in the 50s. Because of course it does.
So John goes back to his office to brood, reflecting that the office feels like the remains of an ancient civlization because “It seems to be all that remains of the civlized person I used to be”. Hell of a line.
We then get his backstory with the victim, Natalia. She’s a famous actress, who John first as a younger man when hired to investgate some death threats she’d received with a boquet of flowers. John shows off just how good he is at his job in just a few panels.
IT not only shows in just a few panels just how ferocious our hero can be when needed and how good he is at his job, easily having tracked down the man responsible and scared him shitless without breaking as sweat, but how fucking gorgeous the art is. I meant it when I brought up the old disney comparison, as Steranko even mentioned in his introduction to the collection of the first three volumes how it looks like animation cels on the page. IT’s utterly breathtaking and ONLY gets even more lush and beautiful as the series goes on and perfectly fits the noir stylings with it’s realisim, making it’s animal characters feel utterly human and real while still keeping their animal traits in perfect detail.
John impressed her, and as we see in the next page under his narration they not only had really steamy passionate sex, and why yes we do see them naked even if the bits are covered it’s still very much nsfw and we saw Natalia’s naked corpse earlier, so that ship had already sailed anyway, with Natalia taking him on both as her lover and her on staff detective and the two were much in love.. until the fame apparenlty got to her judging from the visuals, and the realtionship fell apart.
Before we move on i’d like to talk about the narration which CAN be a bit overwrought here or there and is a bit overused.. but does have it’s mometns of being utterly effective as with above, contrasting John’s statments about a sucessful job and being hired on.. with the beginnings of his and Natalia’s relationship and their passionate lovemaking. IT’s not BAD and it works for the setting, but it can be distracting, but thankfully the series levels this out as we go and they learned from it so no harm done. Just the kinda thing that happens early in a series life when the creators are getting a handle on things, so no harm done.
But naturally John isn’t going to take the love of his life, responsible for the happiest days of said life, being brutally murdered lying down and is going to find the bastard who did this. So he goes to an old friend, Jake Ositombe, a championship boxer and Nat’s former bodyguard who he recommended to her. Given we see him knock the shit out of his opponent without the slightest effort, yeah good call. Also yes we share the same name and no it’s not weird to type about another Jake, adventure time sorta.. knocked that out of me. Jake dosen’t know much since she fired him a long time ago as one of her lovers hired private security, and the last one he knew of was a guy by the name of Leon. John, naturally, easily finds the guy’s apartment, Leon Kronkski, a screenwriter.. but also rules him out as the guy lived in a humble apartment and clearly didn’t have the cash to hire his own hired goons.
He does find a clue, a matchbook for some place called the Cypher Club.. and another when the man’s sweet mouse landlady shows up, who John charms by pretending to be Leon’s friend and flashing a big smile, finding out a msyterious man with “big bulging eyes”, took him. This scene also to me is great in subtly showing off John’s skill. While the previous flashback showed how badass he is, shoving a gun down the throat of a stalking wannabe murderer with pure rage in his eyes.. here we see a lighter approach, how despite his serious and dour nature.. he easily slips into being cheery and looking like an average joe off the street. He bluffs the landlady not because the plot says so.. but because like any PI he’s just that good at slipping into whatever roll he needs to get the info he needs. He can be his dour self or a charming happy go lucky guy without missing a beat.
So with that he goes to the studio leon worked for where his boss.. is a walrus j jonah jameson?
But yeah J. Jonah Walruson wants pictures of spider-man.. moving pictures.. but he can’t film them with his star dead and his screenwriter indefintiely gone, with the same bulging eyed man having told JJ he’d be gone indefintely. Nothing suspicious about that!
So naturally John’s next plan is to find the guy.. who is already after him as you’d expect with both a knife to slash at our hero with and the fog covering him so he can hit and run. But unluckily for him .. well i’ll let john say it...
John headbutts the myserious snake, who only managed to get his coat before and tries to interogate him.. but gets a quick jab to the gut and the guy gets away.
We soon meet our big bag, who has a big speech about insects and things being usefufl.. and once they stop being useful.. they become dead and collectable, telling the snake man to back off John.. and sending his right hand man to go take care of the Snake who apparently took something from the office. Realizing his numbers up the Snake Man goes to a lizard bar, picks up a package from a friend and runs out the back, knowing he’s being followed.. and we get some hints there’s also racial tension between lizards and mammials here as the bartender, said friend, has the entire bar circle around the guy preventing him from following our mysterious bulging eyed man.
Meanwhile John goes to the Cipher Club, a wretched hive of scum and villiany. Given Nat was a glamorous movie star, it’s very clear she was here to hide from something or someone, and the bartnender, a wild pig.
No not you sweetie. The wild pig tells John leon was indeed here and a local rat, in both senses of the word, offers to take John to him.. though understandably John is supscious of the guy he just met in a seedy bar taking him anywhere except to get some heroin. Did Heroin exist yet? Questions for later. But he’s got a case so he follows. Though suprisingly the guy DOES actually come through and it’s not ENTIRELY a trap: he takes john to a tomb for Noel Krinsok.. an anagram for Leon’s name. Unsuprisingly he’s dead. And also unsuprisingly, two hired goons
Show up. As I said not ENTIRELY a trap but it’s obvious given the rat split moments before that our mysterious big bad knew where john would be headed next, and thus while giving him a clue, also set him up to get his head knocked in. And while John is badass.. these guys are a bear and a rhino, both stronger, bigger, and with suprise on their size, as well as a tombstone to knock john’s head into. They easily beat him senseless and hope he got the message, though john gives a defiant fuck you before being punched out for it. He returns home, feeling like he’s aged 20 years “But no one respects the elderly anymore”, PFFT, and heads home to his rathole, not literally this time, apartment to lay on his cot and think as he gets some rest.
And while the trail for Leon is cold. our mysterious murderer accidently tipped his hand: only someone with a LOT of money and influence could make a man disappear like this, and it tracks with what we’ve seen so far. The guy has multiple henchman and despite being a big star with plenty of clout, Natalia had to hide in a dive bar just to get away from him and even THEN clearly wasn’t so lucky given she and her new lover both wound up dead. But Blacksad has bigger problems.. he wakes up in a jail cell.
Turns out Smirnkov had him arrested.. but for his own protection as the case is getting too hot and while he was late on that front given John’s face is hamburger, it’s clear from his tone and demeanor that while he may of been harsh with John earlier.. the two are old friends, and the Chief is simply worried about him winding up dead, and John takes you know being thrown in prison in stride. Which while not a bad scene it is a BIT suspect that a black coded character was thrown in jail for nothing and it’s treated very lightly and as a simple protection between friends, though given they wouldn’t think of coding john like that till next volume, I brush it off as accidental implications in hindsight.
Smirnkov though also called John here.. because he needs his help. Since Natalia’s Murder Case is pointing very high up, so his superiors have ordered him to bury the case and as he puts it “the bastards know where to squeeze”. And given in volume 3 we learn Smirnov has a wife and children, it’s very obvious where they squoze and to the volume’s credit while we don’t know that yet it’s VERY clear from Smirnov’s body language they went after some form of family. So while he has to give it up.. John does not. So he brought him to jail to offer a proposal: John goes after this son of a bitch and nails him to the wall.. and Smirnov will FULLY protect John no matter what he has to do. Now naturally given the rightful reckoning for police that’s been going on for almost a year, this SHOULDN’T play well. You have an officer outright telling an outside party that he and his boys will cover up his crimes. But.. honestly even in that framework.. it still works. That’s because.. the system has failed here. The higher up and more corrupt cops put pressure on the honest and hardworking family man Smirnov to stop a legitimate investigation into a horrible murderer.. because the guy is rich. And even now we’ve seen time and time again how rich assholes effortlessly escape the consequences of their action: How our own president who actively asked other nations to interfere in our election escaped his first impeachment trial, but hopefully not the second, aquitted. How Jeffery Epstien took YEARS to bring down with his years of ellicit parties involving innocent women and children he fucking enslaved. How Bill Cosby got away with all kinds of sexual assault for decades. The rich are often literally above the law in this country, so having a down on his luck detective, who retroactively himself is a minority, go after him with the full support of an actually GOOD police officer who genuinely believes in these people being held accountable but is held back by his family’s safety.. it works. John isn’t able to skirt consequences BECAUSE of a corrupt system.. but because the system’s so broken and slanted in the rich’s favor, that the ONLY option an honest officer like Smirnov has is to go outside it. And when asked WHY he’s doing all of this, Smirnov merley replies
... I got chills, their multiplyin. So John plans to find the bulge eyed snake after a hot shower.. only for the guy to hold a gun to John’s head, having been waiting for him and wave the murder weapon, in a baggie around, the item he had retrieved, feeling John’s trying to replace him as number two. However before he can do anything our snake pal is shot full of holes by the rat from before, who John dispatches with his own gun.
So the Snake starts to expire.. but feels a kinship with John “We are nothing right cat? Spent so much time waiting for the right chance and when it happens it all falls to pieces”. The Snake explains his roll in things: He was one of the private security our big bad hired to guard Natalia. But being supscious he also hired the rat to follow her around, and thus found out about her affair, brutally torturing and murdering Leon and shooting Natalia in the head. And we finally get a name as our snake friend tragically expires.
The snake’s death and tragic dying moments are something I forgot about.. but damn if their not really good writing, taking a character who before was seemingly just a murderous goon.. and comparing him to our hero. Another working class joe, and one who just caught up with the wrong asshole at the wrong time. He easily could’ve been john in another life and vice vers and it’s a good parallel.
So John’s nightmares finally have name and he naturally goes to confront the guy since he has an almost literal get out of jail free card. Turns out Smirnov is the richest man in town, and has his own big tower. Huh.. sounds familiar, and John simply sneaks his way up and once Statoc’s guards from before hear him rustling about.. sneaks up on them and clocks both one at at time with a fire extinqusher.
Statoc warmly welcomes our hero inside, and has the fucking lizard balls, as he’s some sort of lizard himself, to offer John a JOB
I mean he’s clearly lost a lot of his goons and most of them were incompetent. He fails to realize that John can’t be bought, is here for vengeance and has no intention of selling his soul to some rich asshole who killed someone he loved for the creepiest and most asinine reasons imaginable. He says john’s Concisence is why he can’t pull the trigger and that he lacks “cold blood”.. before we cut to the next page, where John’s shot the fucker in the head and left a gaping hole where his lack of a brain was.
And again what makes this work is the aftermath: John is clearly shaken, having ONLY been able to pull the trigger beause of Statoc’s smug grin and clearly not taking the sight of Statoc’s dead body bleeding out well. And while Smirnov keeps his word, covers for him despite the two guards clearly providing an iron clad argument against john and knoiwng thier blatantly covering this up.. he’s not happy about it.
This is WHY the narrtive still works. Statoc stacked the law against the bad guys. .but despite this being a necessary evil.. it’s still an evil and subverting teh law at this rightly leaves him not in a great place mentally. John himself isn’t even if he plays it off as otherwise, as we get our final bit of narration and one hell of a closing line.
Final Thoughts:
Somewhere in the Shadows is a bit rough around the edges, leaning a bit too heavily into the noir pastiche and Blacksad being a harboiled detective, something the next volume would ease up on. That being said.. it’s still a masterpiece, with gorgeous art and masterful pacing. While it’s the shortest of the stories, like those after it the pacing is sublime and never feels like it has any down moments or stuff that could’ve been cut, and the mystery keeps you on edge the whole time. Having forgot a lot of the details since last read I was on the edge of my seat the entire story and loving every second of it. Somewhere in the Shadows is the perfect starter for the series, introducing an important charcter in Smirnov and the noir nature and giving us a case personal to John so we can see who he was before, what he is now.. and what he WILL be for the rest of the series. The moment that MADE him into an even harder man than the one we follows here.. when he took a life in cold blood. A masterful story, seriously check it and the other volumes out, on comixology, in stores, great stuff. Next time we look into john and as I said, he’s taking down some racists and we also meet his sidekick weekly for the first time. As for me tommorow I dive back into my Tom Luictor retrospective but hit pause on our boy for a bit to take care of some of the larger plot. Until the next rainbow, it’s been a pleasure.

How to Succeed In Headcanons Without Really Trying
I have been writing fanfic for years upon years, since before Tumblr even existed. Something that has always existed, but I’ve seen a lot in my tenure on Tumblr, is this “Gee, I wish people wiould write about X/Why isn’t anyone interested in this aspect of character Y?/ I’m so tired of being the only one who ships z!??” *
Generally, my response of tenderly grabbing their laptop and going, “Ohhhh….wow!!! You have access to...both google docs and tumblr??? Did you know??? That is all I use??? To write fanfic???” Is not particularly well met. Must be something in the wording.
So, finally, something helpful: A guide to getting the writing you want without having to pick up the slack yourself. (I assume art is similar, but as every time I have tried to art I hate myself, I don’t art, and so I don’t know.)
I’ve put these, in order, from most to least effective
1. PAY THE PIPER
Literally the most effective way to get what you want is to pay for it. My Patreon has commission-level on it (Though I think it’s all full right now) and I’m sure other writers take commissions. This is 100% guaranteed to get whatever you want written about written about. I don’t care what my comissioners ask for. Want me to write about how Michiru doesn’t eat sea creatures because of a strong emotional kinship? Great. 2,000 words on Pharah’s obsession with lawn croquet? Love it, fabulous.
2. EFFUSIVELY COMPLIMENT IT WHEN YOU SEE IT.
If someone writes something with even a shade of what you’re looking for, gush about it in the comments. Writers are, at heart, 85% lost children who want love and affection. Even if a fic contains other things you don’t like, if you comment, excited, about how “Wow I love love love how you talked about Tracer’s Sonic the Hedgehog lunchbox!! What an amazing character touch!” The writer will very likely remember this, next time they sit down to write, and it will become more of a recurring theme in their work. I try very hard to do this with any kind of character take I love. Reward them for doing what you want!
3. PROMPT IT
Most/many writers take prompts from time to time, so when they ask, feel free to put it forward! This is the least effective because a) Some writers only take prompts from lists (although, fellow writers, some of my best stuff has come from an ‘open call’ prompt, so consider taking them.) and b) they always have the right to ignore your prompt if it doesn’t speak to them.
These three things are, as I see it, the most helpful ways to get the characters takes that you really crave out in the wild, without ever having to write it yourself. Other writers can throw in their two cents, but by and large, I will add that your posts about “why doesn’t anyone talk about Y?” make me never want to discuss Y ever again, roughly 78% of the time. Don’t try to guilt trip the writers you’re trying to convince! I know rewarding with the carrot and not the stick is a weird concept for this hellsite, but trust me: We respond really well to flattery.
*I’m not talking about legitimate criticism of ableism/racism/homophobia in shit, and you all know I’m not, don’t be deliberately obtuse. (I have a whole ‘nother post on how “I don’t like this”/ “This is not how I see this character” does not necessarily equal problematic and this website’s difficulty in separating the two, BUT THAT’S A DIFFERENT POST )
#this is on the sideblog but I stand behind all of it I just#if it gets reblogged a ton I don't want to deal with the dash

Let’s try and make sense of this plot because I have SOME QUESTIONS
1) Apparently Jim Gordon is literally the only thing preventing Gotham City going full Mad Max because all it took was him being kidnapped for people to start rioting in the streets. A hero equipped with super science gadgets who is best friends with a superpowered league of heroes cannot stop this...only an elderly man employed in a low level position in local city government can save us now!
2) “Either we run this town or nobody’ll ever see the comissioner again”
This implies that Batman is personally responsible for who is in charge of Gotham. I HAVE SOME CONCERNS ABOUT THIS STATE OF AFFAIRS
Is Gotham some kind of Bat-monarchy...or Bat-MAN-archy if you will...where Batman rules the city unchallenged?
3) “This car is computerised!”
WHAT THE F U C K DOES THAT MEAN
4) Batman knows he’s no match for two unarmed middle aged men sitting down with their backs turned to him so rather than try to outfight this unbeatable foe he just offers them some snacks and these two being brilliant criminal geniuses they decide it’s a great idea to let the worlds most famous unstoppable crime fighter to ride around in the back of their car because he fed them some pies
A plan worthy of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War...or even Zapp Brannigan’s Big Book of War
5) Bruce remembers he has fists and can use them and proceeds to bludgeon the two unconcious which honestly makes me wonder WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE FRUIT PIES
Will Bruce only beat you senseless if he feeds you first?
WHAT IS HAPPENING
6) This whole bizarre saga ends with Robin beating a man up in the next room while Bruce tells Gordon he “Had a little help from Hostess” and at this point Jim Gordon is probably just wondering when he’s going to wake from this surreal dream he’s having
People say Robin is the lighter and more friendly of this duo but Batman at least offered these criminals some fruit pies before he beat them up...Robin though? He doesn’t care if you’ve got to enjoy that Real Fruit Filling or Tender Crust he’s just going to beat you senseless with his bare hands...Robin is brutal....

Letter to the Editor AJPH:..When government is the problem of public health. <Declined>
FOREWARD:
The problem with scientific journals is they have no heart to confront politicians directly for being in debt of facts. IF republicans were provoked to debate the environment or gun violence matter with scientific journals they’d shatter under the vast weight of the featured authors and research among the journals volumes. The social sciences are often ignored because the results of their research reject the ambivalence towards racial and class privilege that keep washington dc a special interest group.
Get-out-the-vote is a popular gimmick. The people have the right to reject the system when the options are also the author of the problems. dnc&rnc. Low voter turnout is also a political speech yelling for some time: this government isn’t worth its taxes. scotus is too chickenshit to compare that angle against money. A congress full of overexpensive garbage.

LETTER:
Calls to Regulate Fashion Models in the United States Haven't Had A Worthy Government Available to the Task of Accountability
By Michael Bench, MEP, GCERT
Dear Editor
Approximately 2 years ago following France's announcement to regulate fashion, Dr's Bryn Austin and Katherine Record appeared in this very publication identifying OSHA as the particular agency due investigating the fashion industry. We have not at all seen OSHA produce results. We have not seen United States government move a very inch of where it was since 2007 when I began contacting OSHA while it was under Edwin Foulke Jr.
Foulke at least responded; he was leaving the regulation to the CFDA who likewise has done nothing and cannot be expected to enforce its policies even if it faked it for publicity. In 2007 when I contacted Council of Fashion Designers of America, they had no plans to regulate the industry while ' strongly concerned' about the models health. How emptily heart warming they care so much for other American's children.
I am addressing the federal government negligence, failure to protect American youth from targeted and fraudulent consumerist messages rendering the government accountability office, OSHA, Department of Labor OIG (Howard Shapiro,Scott Dahl), M Patricia Smith (former NY Comissioner of Labor), New York State, and FBI utterly complacent to the abuses, attempted suicides , depression and profitable pharmaceutical sales to the fashion industries and media's misled youth. Why hasn't this Journal been more forceful among colleagues in Government seats? When women raise the point it seems to go by the wayside. I'm a male Citizen of the United States calling on Donald Trump, His OSHA secretary Dorothy Dougherty , and Jean Bennett NIOSH/ Health and Human Services Department to recognize the hashtag MAGA is now their test to protect American youth from domestic consumer threats and classist eurotrash influence resulting of columns and pictures in publications like VOGUE, Cosmopolitan, and Seventeen.
There is an error in Austin's and Record's account of the fashion industry. They're empathic for models. They treat the models like they're owed protection from the industry when really; for fame; the actual risk to health is entirely karmic up through and including dying for it. The new models might not know their risks. Eventually the totality have protected the industry and not sufficiently protected each other from unreasonable conditions of employment. So unreasonable, parents of models who've stayed silent should be arrested for neglect. Female haute couture models have no integrity. They'd sacrifice their own body for the preferences of a homosexual designer under a delusion he designs women. He designs clothes and that’s it. His lack of arousal is not an excuse of his accountability to the employees health. Body mass index has been coyly dismissed by the fashion industry claiming its arbitrary.
No, actually.Body mass index is only inaccurate for the overweight and athletic population unable to differentiate between muscle and fat. For the underweight population, body mass index is more than a formidable opponent to their breatherism and every other psychotic masking of anorexic idealism. BMI is very much accurate in defining liars, scam artists and every other term for fraud in crash diet or ideal dress size that can be summoned for the entirety of the London, Paris, New York and every other Caucasian centric runway. The women don't need to be seeking retail therapy to reward themselves for the cleansing diet tips that fluctuate a size unpredictably among the majority of female populace. The unreasonable thinness ideal is to promote shopping; To promote anxiety among women for a size they'll fluctuate in and out of. The truth is , it’s a size the model herself can't maintain for longer than the photo session and she has no legal foundation to prescribe thinness tips to anyone. If she isn't anorexic her self, a haute couture model has been and continues to be an enabler of the dysmorphic vision her designers conditionally employ her to portray. The dysmorphic is the designer, the disordered eater the model and her emulating fans and the government isn't worth saluting.
So Journal of Public Health, Are you going to care about public health of America's ad fed youth? Are you going to slink away like David Michaels of George Washington University? Even if I hadn't emailed him or wrote to him repeatedly for the entirety of 8years, where was his awareness to initiate his own evaluation of fashion? Or Tom Perez, He was awfully silent about the fashion models during a period it could've been a Hillary Clinton platform. In the time defense of marriage was a wedge topic, the republican party had adequate fuel with the fashion industry to declare homosexuality a mental illness. Instead, they did nothing; serving classism and wealth as if the gay designers declare for the (cis) wealthy whats fashionable or not. American Journal of Public Health, the fact that this is even unaddressed by the United States government this long illustrates an inept pair of parties completely untowards the task of designing a health care system or its reform.
The United States policy can't be a cut and paste procedure as Bryn Austin and Katherine Record have offered. No. US Dress Size 8, at a body mass index no less that 19.2 ; a growth curve uninfluenced by employment, a duplication of all employment related exercises to be signed by the models parents , general physician and federal department of labor and shared liability between the parents and the fashion industry agency and designer for any requests unreasonable for any parent to make of their children; employed or not. I have made conditions: Austin and Record shrugged it.
An American could've been credited with allowing America to be great again ever since 2007. I have no doubt there were females before me that were ignored to address the media's complicity. D
uring the 1980s mainstream media slid headlines in like " teen body dissatisfaction is so frequent its considered normal". Never by the duress of fashion media it's not. By no hesitation should you be burning down Paris. I'm not waiting on the us government to act accordingly. I'm Ordering the united states government to abide the oath they took in protection of the youth by threats of consumerism now identified and spelled out for them. FBI; utterly a shame of convenience. The senate and house of representatives, the last two senior administrations of OSHA AND the designers should all be dragged behind the same truck from a noose together.A cure for their mistaken sense of wellness and undeserved incumbency. Female Mixed Martial Arts fighters are the winners here of empowered women. The fashion models are merely lazy professional pedestrians. Anorexia is the effort to cleave identifiable gender characteristics of adipose tissue from the body to avoid classification of maturity. The fashion industry promotes an androgynous figure of women often younger than 18. There is no difference of couture's goals and anorexia whether the fashion model is above or below 18.5 BMI. Know for damn certain France's bar at 18.0 BMI is insufficient to curb their generally protected export industry. Don't imitate France. Prosecute them. It takes more to promote public health these days that just being editors and it apparently takes a better government than what Americans are being taxed each year to endure for ' authority". I'd question if Green Anarchists would've spotted this problem sooner?
*
Americans have remained a great people among those demanding a fair go for all. When corporate wealth has determined Americans wants too inconvenient, Americans' greatness has been snubbed. What stopped being great was a government confused of its alliances; The people first , dipshit.

This project was a labor of love for us. When Sony and LCD approached us to do a series of 80s style infomercial spots for the new record we literally jumped at the chance. The rube goldberg machine we designed with james in mind. It was built almost entirely with vintage studio, recording, and musical equipment and salvaged parts. It was designed, and worked, to turn on the entire stereo system (which served as the main element in the machine), drop the record, and play it over those Fisher speakers. Which it actually did. It was also designed to complete it's entire task within 25 seconds so it would fit in a broadcast :30-:45. Not only that, but in addition to shooting s16mm film and processing the entire gate, we also salvaged and a found a vintage tube camera, essentially what broadcasts were filmed and transmitted on before we had digital and after film had become time inefficient for broadcast. Obviously, most of these cameras either don't work or have no digital infustructure to test IF they work. We painstakingly did many hours of research to find assemble various parts (apparently which exist in various forms in mid-western pennsylvania and southern New Jersey). We rigged the old analog camera to record digitally and shot our old weird infomercial on old weird infomercial cameras. All that to say, it was an incredibly fun labor of love and we hope everyone digs the 49 seconds of love. __________________ directed, produced, edited | rubberband. photographed | 16mm, mayer chalom / trinicon camera, jason sondock production & machine design | jason sondock art director | nathalie nareau hoffman mograph | jarred hageman comissioner | saul levitz still photographer | jordan hemingway sound design and mix | bobb barito
