seeing all those sheep/goat vaschete asks inspired me to draw these (they got a bit more lazy as i went on but it's whatevs)
i like to imagine that machete could be a long haired goat breed which would give him his signature floof! couldn't choose which one to settle with tho ^^"
.
#aaaa these are so charming#I'm having trouble deciding which one I like the most#the goats have the floof and impressive horns#but the two sheep are also really appealing from character design standpoint#border leicester is one of my favorite breeds of sheep they have such excellent shapes#intense roman noses and big rabbit ears#and it's kind of comical how little Machete's face changes when you switch from dog to this specific sheep#and jacob sheep are simply iconic in their own right#these are lovely#thank you!#gift art#sloppygoaty#Machete#own characters#you have a lot more faith in his capability to grow a pair impressive horns than I do#I feel like his would either be kind of unremarkable#or he would have them removed entirely to look more sheeplike

Warming up & getting excited for Tour de Fleece next month ✨ with team Camp Wooligan
Another superbly skilled spinner kindly suggested I try out the Corriedale I have waiting in my fiber stash instead of diving back into commercially dyed merino and merino blends (I treasure the undyed fibers I have more and wanted to do them more justice), and I am SO glad I followed their wise advice as I practiced practicing on these little ~2oz samples. I immediately could see why they recommended the corrie and also why BFL is often recommended for beginners as well: I felt like I was doing something close to right.
I have one more sample to get to once I empty at least one of these bobbins, and then all that's left is trying to contain my excitement and hold back on spinning until Tour de Fleece officially starts!
And the final plied results from brushing off the heavy coat of rust off my spinning and doing some samples of the breeds I currently have.
Not anywhere near the weight I eventually want to be able to ply to, but a small step closer, and a small step closer toward consistent, as well. It was fascinating seeing how each wool gave me a different experience, and how much each of the plied yarns bloomed after a soak.
I really enjoyed my first foray into feeling and seeing the differences in working with different types of wool, and I've got a bunch more on the way to sample for Tour de Fleece next month.
🤎 Correidale, ~1.8oz, ~30y
🤍 Cheviot, ~2.1oz, ~32y
🩶 Bluefaced Leicester, ~2.1oz, ~31y
🧡 Shetland (broken top), ~2oz, ~43y
All fiber from Blue Moon Alpacas (shop | IG) and spun on my one and only Lendeum double treadle.
I also have been knitting a lot of cardigans and sweaters this past spring, and hopefully will muster the gumption to block them & weave in all their ends to take some photos to share.

Days 10-12 of Tour de Fleece:
Day Ten (monday july 8)—
Finished bobbins one & two of the lovely oatmeal bfl! Very happy with the thinness of the singles I was able to achieve here. Still working toward consistency!
Background Entertainment: A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula le Guin (audiobook)
Day Eleven (tuesday july 9)—
Third bobbin done!
Background Entertainment: A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula le Guin (audiobook)
Day Twelve (wednesday july 10)—
Did some spinning outside! It was too hot to stay out for long, but I wanted to soak up some sun's warmth in my bones.
I also finished up the fourth bobbin and started chain plying them. Here I ran into a bit of frustration: while my singles are balanced enough to be used as singles… it is not quite enough twist for the tension of chain plying. After the first bobbin had four places that just pulled apart, the first time it happened with the second, I immediately stopped and started running the remaining 2 1/4 bobbins back through my wheel to add more twist to them.

Cardinal Wolsey: A Life In 9 Artworks
I won't lie I love history and I have been re-watching a lot of the Tudors which brought on the inspiration for this blog.
So Cardinal Wolsey’s life, marked by immense power and ultimate downfall, has inspired numerous artworks.
These pieces offer a visual chronicle of his journey from glory to despair, allowing modern viewers to witness pivotal moments of his life.
This artwork marks Wolsey’s early rise, depicting his procession to Westminster Hall in 1515 when he became a cardinal. Gilbert, fascinated by Wolsey, frequently revisited his life in art, capturing significant moments. In this piece, Wolsey holds a pomander, reflecting his historical concern with disease prevention.
This painting highlights the close relationship between Wolsey and King Henry VIII. The Cardinal appears focused and diligent beside a relaxed and trusting Henry, illustrating their bond during Wolsey's height of influence.
This detailed artwork portrays the grand summit between England and France in 1520, organized by Wolsey. Though the scene is a composite, it captures the event’s opulence. Wolsey, depicted modestly beside King Henry, orchestrated this massive and ultimately politically futile event.
This piece illustrates the intense rivalry between Wolsey and Buckingham, culminating in the Duke’s execution in 1521. Gilbert captures their mutual animosity in a chance encounter, with expressive faces revealing their deep-seated hatred.
Lucas’s painting reflects Wolsey’s fall from grace. Depicted with King Henry and Thomas Cramner, Wolsey’s sorrow is palpable as he faces his downfall, highlighted by the ominous presence of a raven, symbolizing his imminent demise.
A satirical take on Wolsey’s forced resignation in 1529, this drawing shows him tearfully handing over the Great Seal. Originally intended for humour, it underscores the poignancy of his loss of power and favour with the King.
Depicting Wolsey’s final moments in 1530, this engraving shows him surrounded by loyal companions at Leicester Abbey. Cavendish, his faithful servant, is depicted weeping at his side, highlighting the Cardinal’s tragic end.
This simple sketch from Wolsey’s biography captures his solemn burial at Leicester Abbey. Despite the crude execution, it serves as a historical record of his final resting place, though its exact location remains a mystery.
In this compilation of eminent British figures, Wolsey is honoured alongside historical greats. Created 150 years after his death, this miniature portrayal underscores his lasting significance in English history.
These nine artworks encapsulate Cardinal Wolsey’s dramatic life, from his meteoric rise to his tragic fall, immortalizing his legacy in vivid detail. I honestly find him a fascinating character of history.
BONUS!
