Long Finned Asian Arowana (Scleropages formosus)
These fish look like real-life dragons to me! This species is native to freshwater habitats in Southeast Asia. They are endangered in the wild. However, they can be captive bred so many individuals are kept as pets or as exhibits in public aquariums around the world. They are considered a good luck symbol in Chinese culture since they resemble an Asian dragon.

just got the most spawn camped i have ever been spawn camped before in splat2.
it was arowana mall, and they literally STOOD NEXT TO the spawner and kept shooting, so anytime you tried to take EVEN A STEP out of the spawner, you'd get splatted. they started this less than a minute into the game, and it lasted the entire round :(
how is that even fun for them ?? i dont get it ;;

check it out deciphered train station sign
Tumblr media
"DEKA" probably comes from the Japanese name for deca tower "Deka Tawā". With Inkopolis Plaza being this close by, that would make sense.
"IKARASI" seems to come from the romanized form of Inkopolis Plaza's Japanese name "Haikarashiti". We are literally in Inkopolis Plaza so that checks out.
"AROWANA" may be referencing Arowana Mall (its called that in JP too i checked), meaning it's only one train stop away from the plaza & two stops from the square! no wonder the splat2 inklings stuck with it, its too close to not battle in (even if it's charger hell)

The Squid from Point Nemo
(This is a closed RP w/ @hybrid-havoc-haven)
A strange small vessel of steel is floating its way toward the Inkopolis Harbor, coming from the south east. When it hit the seashore, a door ejects open and steam emits from the opening.
Coming out of the capsule is a young inkling woman with slightly beigeish white ink hair and greenish white eyes. She wore a white kimono with silver embroidery in the shape of trees and birds. She carried with her a strange backpack designed to look like a wooden treasure chest.
She leaves the vessel where it is before entering the city with little memory and no direction.
The first area she stumbles on is Arowana Mall

Splatoon Vending Machine Facts
Express is a brand introduced in early Splatoon 1, even found in beta footage. Its logo can be found on vending machines in that game and Splatoon 3, and has since appeared on the Fizzy Bomb and Inkjet, and it is the brand that created the Big Swig Roller in collaboration with Splat. Its vending machines, the item it is second-best known for (the first being the Big Swig Roller), can be found in Inkopolis Plaza, some Splatoon 1 maps, and the vending-machine corner in Side Order.
In Splatoon 2, most vending machines were instead owned by a brand nicknamed as Shark Fins. It doesn't deal with much outside of vending machines, but advertisements and cargo containers with its logo can be found in certain maps like Arowana Mall.
In Octo Expansion, a unique, usable (after beating the DLC) vending machine exclusive to the Central Station can be found, which takes payment in the form of either Mem Medals (which have a set order of rewards when spent) or a hefty 15,000 CQ Points to buy food tickets, drink tickets, cash, and ability chunks.
