Pornography Cyber Crime: FBI caught such a cyber gang with the help of Delhi Police, whose exploits will shock you!
Tumblr media
A notorious gang involved in widespread extortion has been dismantled by the Special Cell of Delhi Police in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States. During the joint operation, four suspects were apprehended on the spot, while two additional members of the syndicate were arrested in America and Canada. In total, six arrests have been made in connection with this case.
This gang is being hailed as one of the largest extortion syndicates to date, having allegedly extorted approximately $20 million from their victims through blackmail. The FBI interviewed around 50 victims as part of their investigation, while the Delhi Police conducted video calls with two of them.
Also Read: Cybercrime in Nagpur - Cyber Blackmailer Couple Arrested in Pune for Extorting Money
The suspects, posing as prominent American lawyer Uttam Dhillon, targeted their victims by instilling fear of false charges related to child pornography and drug trafficking. It is worth mentioning that Uttam Dhillon is a former law enforcement officer who previously served as the acting administrator in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
The main suspect in this case has been identified as Vatsal Mehta, hailing from Janakpuri in West Delhi. His accomplice, Parth Armarkar, resides in Ahmedabad. This operation marks the third successful collaboration between Delhi Police's Special Cell and the FBI, following the previous dismantling of a similar racket in West Delhi.
The syndicate operated from Delhi and Uganda, with Mehta, Armarkar, Deepak Arora, and Prashant Kumar coordinating their activities from different locations. To avoid detection by law enforcement agencies, the suspects frequently traveled between Uganda and India.
The modus operandi of the gang involved assuming the identity of Uttam Dhillon and falsely accusing their victims of involvement in child pornography and drug trafficking. To convince their targets, the gang members presented fabricated evidence by extracting incriminating clips from the victims' computer systems. They then demanded a ransom of one lakh dollars to clear their names and avoid imprisonment. Many victims, fearing legal consequences, succumbed to the pressure and handed over money, including cash, gold, and cryptocurrency.

Remarkably, some of the victims had already reached out to the FBI and DEA for help. Through coordination with the Interpol via the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the FBI collaborated with Delhi Police's Special Cell to expose the gang's activities and bring them to justice.
The successful dismantling of this international cybercriminal gang highlights the importance of global cooperation in combating cybercrimes. The joint efforts of law enforcement agencies across borders demonstrate the commitment to protecting innocent individuals from falling prey to such elaborate scams. This operation serves as a reminder to remain cautious, verify identities, and report suspicious activities to authorities to ensure a safer digital landscape for everyone.

TAC Security Goes Global with its Latest Threat Intelligence Solution
Amid constantly growing cyber attacks, Trishneet Arora’s TAC Security has continued to gain huge attention in the fields of cybersecurity, ethical hacking and web defence. With its latest dark web threat intelligence solution – ESOF-DarkSec (Enterprise security in one framework) – the Mumbai-based firm is now beginning to announce itself as a player in the global market.
Founded a year after the famous enterprise cybersecurity platforms company, Lucideus, in 2013, TAC Security has been constantly expanding operations in the Australian and European markets. The Indian firm has promoted the ‘Make in India’ campaign and worked with Fortune 500 companies. It is also one of the Empanelled Cyber Security Auditors for the Union Government.
Recently, Trishneet Arora was accepted into Forbes Technology Council, an invitation-only community for world-class CIOs, CTOs, and technology executives. “Hack it yourself, before you get hacked” is the motto followed by the TAC Security founder, who would now have access to a variety of exclusive opportunities, deemed useful in enhancing business. He aims to make TAC Security, the Google of cybersecurity.
TAC Security’s ESOF-DarkSec is a groundbreaking solution that was brought following the constant increases in the dark web exposures. It is expected to help inform business entities about the vulnerabilities of their infrastructure so they can secure their endpoints and networks against potential threats.
Not only will the product evaluate data theft vulnerabilities, but also help the enterprises detect, measure, and identify the type of data available on the dark web about their companies, thereby securing the entire IT Infrastructure.
Chris Fisher, Chief Marketing Officer, TAC Security, acknowledged that the cyber threats multiplied through spear-phishing tool, amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The constant data breaches have jeopardised sensitive information of the government, businesses and individuals.
Promoting ESOF-DarkSec, Fisher said, “We hope that the product will help inform business entities about the vulnerabilities of their infrastructure so they can secure their endpoints and networks against potential threats.”
Moreover, the TAC Security product provides a dark web organisation risk score on a scale from 0 to 10. Based on the scans, the solution’s subscription plan is s available in three tiers: Basic, Platinum and Premium. Banks, large enterprises, healthcare, government departments, and defence would be its major target.
In the wake of an increasing number of attacks against company portals, TAC Security has provided vulnerability assessment and penetration testing services to several companies. Besides serving the Reliance Industries, Central Bureau of Investigation, the company has helped Punjab and Gujarat police in investigating cybercrimes.
Globally, TAC Security has a presence in Singapore, the UK, the USA, and the Middle East. The funding from several investors has helped it to continue to expand its operations. It will soon roll out its dark web threat intelligence solution in the North American and African market. This would in turn expand the Indian firm’s presence across the globe.
The way ecosystems are scaling at present, it’s obvious that if the cyber firms don’t remain persistent in providing the highest level of privacy controls, security will become a blind spot and vulnerabilities will emerge and even go unnoticed in the next five years.
TAC Security is one of many Indian firms that has geared up its efforts in offering cyber assets’ protection and conducting vulnerability assessment of companies and government agencies to combat cyber attacks.

Doubling rate down to 7.4 percent due to lockdown, says Hardh Vadhan
Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said the hallmark of India's efforts in dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak has been a pre-emptive and proactive approach as well as creating a people's movement to combat the pandemic. Speaking at a meeting of G20 ministers organised by the grouping's chair Saudi Arabia via video-conferencing, Vardhan said India has completed 25 days of the lockdown which will further extend till 3 May and its positive results were evident.
"The results of the same were realised when our case doubling rate which was about 3.4 days on March 17, dropped to 4.4 days by March 25, and is currently about 7.4 days," he told the G20 health ministers. India has successfully tackled public health emergencies of international concern and pandemic in the past as well, Vardhan asserted.
"This time the hallmark of our approach has been fivefold —maintaining a continuous situation awareness; pre-emptive and proactive approach; graded response as per continuously evolving scenario; inter-sectoral coordination at all levels, and lastly but most importantly creating a people's movement to combat this disease," he said.
"Our efforts have been preemptive and proactive. We started surveillance of flights from COVID-affected countries twelve days before we even had the first case in India on 30 of January, 2020 ," Vardhan said. By 22 March, with less than 400 cases India banned all international flights to and from India, and by 25 March implemented a nationwide lockdown, he pointed out.
