Ace culture is being really annoyed by how there isn’t a word for bisexual like gay or lesbian. Like you can say you’re gay or lesbian, and people might assume you mean you’re homosexual, but it’s not stated, while being bisexual is like stating you’re not asexual. Like I’m biromantic, but i can’t say that without people wondering why tf I’m saying that instead of bisexual, so I usually just say I’m bi, but that doesn’t work well if someone not very familiar with queer culture.

Shoutout to my fellow queers who are still trying to figure themselves out or don't know if they ever will. I was pretty sure I was biromantic asexual up until not too long ago, I find people of any gender attractive but it's more of a "What if we held hands? 🥺" thing, and while I find it fun to be horny on main for certain characters and people I actually have very little interest when it comes to the act itself. But lately I've been wondering if I'm actually also aromantic or if I simply dislike "corny" romantic stuff. Is my attraction to people just aesthetic attraction or is it romantic attraction, just my own definition of romance? Am I really aromantic or do I just have an aversion to the idea of romance that society wants to push on us? Honestly, even if I never find the answer it'll be fine too, I'm just me and that's beautiful. We're all valid 😌

One thing that I would love to see a story about is a book where the love interest is ace and the narrator isn’t… idk I just think it’d be really cool to see them work out how their relationship is going to work and something about it being the mc compromising for their love interest… idk it appeals to me. Also I’m perfectly willing to do the work myself if no one else is but I think other people should do it too

Heyo, so I’ve been getting a LOT of comments on my comic ever since I started releasing it suggesting Eli and Warren have got romantic chemistry and I have clarified many times that Eli is aroace and specifically on a part of the spectrum where he is not interested in s3x or romance in any way, and Warren is also on the aroace spectrum, similarly aligned.

It’s okay to have your own imagination on literature as long as you don’t erase queer identities, and ace and aro identities are erased a LOT and have very little representation in media.

I know as an author I can’t control how people interpret my works, but all that I ask is that readers remain respectful of asexual and aromantic identities and do not try to insistently publicly erase them in order to fulfill their own fantasies. I understand these people don’t have any malicious intents when they want to ship Eli and Warren together, but just please try to be more conscious of your thoughts before pushing it onto aroace authors online. Aroace people on my side of the spectrum hear it ALL the time where our identities are belittled and erased, or shoved onto another side of the spectrum where we don’t align, or completely outside of our orientation altogether, and it can feel kind of icky for that to happen to our characters as well. Sometimes us aroace authors just wanna write a story where two characters can be around each other without being in a relationship.

Anywho,

Aromantic people who like to be in relationships are valid.

Aromantic people who don’t want to be in a relationship are valid.

Asexual people who like intimate relationships are valid.

Asexual people who don’t want intimate relationships are valid.

All parts of the aroace spectrum are valid.

It’s all a spectrum, and one side existing doesn’t negate the other.

When I first read Ethan of Athos I was in middle school and had absolutely zero concept of queerness. It just sailed right over my head (as did most romance) (cough cough foreshadowing) and sure some of that was subtle ‘it’s the 20th century we don’t say that’, but I was particularly thick headed. I mean they basically secured their victory by holding Terrence C’s hand and thinking gay thoughts! Regardless, I got to the climax where Ethan and Eli are shoved in a cramped space, buck naked, left to die. And baby me rolled their eyes and was like ‘ugh now they’re going to kiss and somehow that means they save the day’. And Ethan of course is reacting reasonably to the situation and is scared and slightly disgusted. And then the book ends and they’re just friends and I was left reeling because I didn’t know that was an option. It was that baked in assumption that the boy and girl get together at the end that was truly my only understanding of romance. And for a baby aro/ace, realizing for the first time that romance isn’t just the Herero checkbox needed for the happy ending, well. It was kinda life changing. This seed got planted in my head, even if nothing would come of it for longer still. So, sure it took years and a lot more exposure to queer circles for me to take a double take and go oh my god they’re hom of sexuals, but obviously I was already dense enough to barely understand the hetero relationships shoved down my throat. I still found queerness through it even if it probably wasn’t the intended kind. And that was incredibly important for me.

Zephyr Hernandez & the MC:

The Elementalists is a mobile visual novel, meaning there are a lot of choices that you need to pay gems for. Oftentimes you’ll get a choice to do something with any one of the romancable characters that you have to spend gems on, but instead of how these games normally go (you can choose to spend gems on someone or be dismissive of them and go sit in a corner alone for free), the free option is to hang out with Zeph! That’s awesome because 1) canon aro-ace rep and 2) he’s the best one of the Pend Pals anyways. My point here is that the default in the game is for him and the player to be best friends who hang out all the time! And they have a great dynamic, sort of that two person sitcom setup neither of them are really the straightman in comedic situations. They help each other through tough times and always have one another’s backs. We could all use a friend like Zeph!

Besties, Joe and Sara are the first 2 on screen, and I'm pretty sure it's Canon that Joe made Sara more confident (iirc)? They are incredibly close, and Joe is pretty good at cheering her up. Also Joe waited for presumably literal HOURS, until it was nighttime, for Sara to get out of school just so they could walk back home together.

Okay, so hi(?)

I'm no_fear_queers (it's the same on Instagram), but you can call me Ellis. Nicknames I accept are Eli, Rae, Rae Rae, Frank and Frankie. (These are coming from the middle names I gave myself. Which are: Ryan and Francis. And no, I will not be telling you what my last name is.) Now, Shrimpy -which is the nickname I'm using on Instagram- is a nickname given to me by a friend when we were freshmen in high school. And I'm only comfortable with my friends calling me Shrimpy. I was given this nickname due to the fact that I'm shorter than all my friends. (Well, shorter AND scrawnier.)

As of September 23rd 2023 (the day I'm writing this), I am 21 years old. I am an introvert with social anxiety, depression and multiple sensory issues I will not be elaborating on.

I'm transmasculine and agender. My pronouns are he/they/it/fae.

I'm unlabeled, queer, angled aroace, and ambiamorous. My unlabeled and queer labels are referring to my aesthetic and sensual orientation. (Seeing how I experience aesthetic and sensual attraction.) The ace and aro identities I identify with are grey-aegosexual and proxyromantic. I'll get into what those two terms mean in a second.

I won't give too long of a list of things I don't like. Mostly because my dislike list is pretty long. The things I dislike the most -besides conservatives and queerphobia of any kind- are bright colours, bright lights (especially when they're flashing lights--mostly due to a sensory issue), sweet potatoes, rom-coms and weddings. (Mind you, I don't outright HATE weddings. I just don't like them. Especially since I'm not much of a people person.)

My favourite shows are NCIS, Bones, Criminal Minds, Bob's Burgers, Futurama, Supernatural, Creeped Out, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Kitchen Nightmares, Hell's Kitchen, and Hotel Hell.

My favourite movies are The Bob's Burgers Movie, Renfield, Demonic, Smile, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. (Mind you, I like watching horror movies in general but there's only ever been like the two I've actually enjoyed watching and liked more than others.)

My favourite colours are black, red, grey, blue and green.

My favourite video games are Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Skyrim, Cooking Champions, Terraria, Minecraft, Animal Crossing New Horizons, The Sims 3 and The Sims 4.

My two favourite things to do are write and play video games. And my favourite holiday is Halloween.

Anyway, on to the definitions I promised:

Grey-aegosexual is a microlabel for ace-spec people who partially relate to aegosexuality, but experience it infrequently or very weakly, and may not feel they fully relate to the aegosexual label. One may very rarely enjoy or get aroused by sexual content or specific people, but only under specific circumstances, and are otherwise sex-neutral or sex-repulsed.

Proxyromantic is a form of romantic attraction in which one has a connection with a romantic orientation, or with the concept of romantic orientations, but does not have the will and/or the ability to figure that romantic orientation out for themselves. Proxyromantic could also be considered a microlabel under the term quoiromantic, the main difference being that one feels as though they have a romantic orientation and understands the concept of romantic attraction, but they don't have the will and/or ability to figure it out.

Hi, sorry to trouble you but ive been behind on the bright stuff. i havent been comfortable with figuring out the situation for personal reasons, but after finding out that you were the one working on shaw ive been interested in hearing about your stories with them. and possibly doing some drawings on them if you have an appearance or faceclaim for shaw.

I have a design for shaw’s original body, but honestly you can draw him however you’d like! The point of Shaw is that he’s just playing body roulette as due to his curse his soul gets randomly thrust into the nearest 29 year old, as that was how old he was when the incident that caused this happened.

If you’re curious about Shaw himself tho? Here’s some brief tidbits:

I’m hoping to make him Mexican American, with his dad Ansel having picked an Anglo last name upon joining the foundation to try and avoid prejudice and unnecessary scrutiny of his works fueled by racism (this was the late 19th century after all). Still need to run this by Kaktus. If Eli does end up being a second gen immigrant he’d be mostly of Tarahumaran descent. Ansel would be Mestizó and thus lighter skinned while his mother would’ve been fully Tarahumaran

He’s ace/aro! Also genderfluid. Doesn’t really ever experience dysphoria, just goes with what body he’s in

He’s on the ASPD spectrum, specifically classified as a clinical sociopath due to not only the abuse and emotional neglect that comes with your dad being a massive tiger parent, but also due to the trauma of the event that caused his current state of being. Might also have undiagnosed autism but I’m not sure yet.

Definitely suffers from going wild once given an ounce of freedom now that his dad’s gone. This includes him being an adrenaline junkie as well as indulging in a lot of junk food. A lot of people with normal to slow metabolisms have been shown to gain weight after long term possession.

He’s also a chronic vaper. Claims the nic helps with his depression. Previous bodies usually report having nicotine cravings post regaining control as a result

Has a therapy cat named Jinx. He calls it reparations despite his current situation mostly being his own fault lmao

Oh yeah and if there’s no 29 year olds left on earth? You get ghost Shaw. He’s doomed to wander for eternity if the world ends because his soul is marked to explicitly be rejected from any afterlife ever

Lastly, he’s an only child so unfortunately he had to be both the black sheep and the golden child.
